"Brian was feeling uncharacteristically sentimental, but that didn't preclude logic."

That's definitely the best line- again, keeping him solely in character. Very well done again. Really enjoying your work here. I love Justin's random spouts of academic brilliance and Brian defying his own drunkeness to look after him. So loving and typical of their relationship at this point. Very good.

Author's Response:

Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback ;-) I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story, and that you thought Brian and Justin were character. My comic muse has a bit of a fetish for Brian and Justin when they're drunk - they can be pretty amusing *g* Thanks again for reading and for your lovely review!

...three-hundred-and-seventy-four miles past shitfaced and still going.

You are one of the gifted that can go from angsty to fall out hilariously funny. You would never believe you could write something like this after reading your other more dramatic stories. I laughed picturing Brian trying to pull Justin off that beam.

Utterly enjoyable and adorable!

Author's Response:

Thanks S *hugs* I'm really glad you enjoyed this story! It was just a little bit of fluff that came out of a conversation I had regarding Brian's Irish heritage.

LOL! I have to admit that I love my angst, but I also really enjoy having this outlet for my 'academic fall-out' ;-) I'm sure they must each use different sides of my brain because they 'feel' different when I write them. It's kinda cool.

Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review. It means a lot :-D

Some of my most favorite parts:

“Yeah- do you like my tights?”

“I love your fucking tights.”

“I wore them just for you, even though they’re a little itchy.”

“Where? Here?”

“Uhhh!…God, yeah. Reeeeally itchy right there…Mmm…”

and (over the last year or so I'd break out into spontanious giggles as this thought popped into my head... i've since upped my medication, but think fondly back on those days):

The result was plastic reindeer carnage. Seeing it made me wonder if Santa carried a shotgun around with him...It would certainly explain what happened to ‘Olive, the other reindeer

HA HA HA HAH:

“I care about your fleshy tissue,” Justin reminded me, his fingers playing along the inside seam of my jeans. “Particularly the kind shaped like a Russian trouser pickle that passes longitudinally into my-”

No matter how many times I read this, I laugh out loud until there are tears in my eyes:

“Poetry!’ Emmett sang giddily, clapping his hands. “I love Christmas poems! Especially the ‘The Night Before Christmas’- that’s how I remember all the reindeers’ names. Let’s see… Dasher and Smasher, Vomit and Cupid, Dancer the Prancer, and Betty and Marylyn.”

and the whole part you edited out.  :(

Im part Ukranian and didn't find it offensive at all.  I sorely wish you'd put it back in, or at least under a cut.

Author's Response:

I'm so glad this story still makes you laugh. I probably had more fun with this story than I did with any of the board game fics - I rememebr giggling madly when I was writing the part about the reindeer tower collasping and Ted trying to put out the rumball fire with brandy. Good times ;-) And I'm SO glad you like the tights quote - that is hands-down my favorite line in here as well *g*

The original version of the story is still posted (and unlocked) on my LiveJournal: http://sapphire-3.livejournal.com/18720.html#cutid1.

I modified it because I really did upset this one reader, who I think knew of someone who had been in or been affected by the Cherynoyl Crisis. I think everyone else realized that I wasn't making fun of the event in the slightest and that it was all meant to be a bit of fun but... well, one has to be culturally sensitive. But yeah - the original version is still on the web. It's just not here because I'm not sure if the person who left that particular comment is still around the site.

Thanks so much for reading, once again, and for your wonderful comment!

after the death fic I had to read something that makes me smile... this fic had me grinning like a fool like it always does.

At this late stage of inebriation, I could almost forget that I was wearing the furry reindeer head ornamentation. That was, until I tried turning around and floppy fucking ears whapped me across the face.

GIGGLE!

I thought of trying to make some witty quip that combined the words ‘humbug’ and ‘fucking’, but all I could come up with ‘humbuggering’ which didn’t quite sound right…

SNORT!

#4. Something you receive from a guest’.

Uhhh…After pondering the point for a few moments, I wrote down ‘DAMAGE DEPOSIT’. You can never trust some people. May be I’d get an extra score for using two ‘D’s’ in a row.

OMG!

When my turn to share came around, I’d gotten as far as ‘eggnog maker’ (which for the record, got shot down despite my fervent arguments), before Justin started giggling like a giddy school girl beside me.

“What’s so fucking funny, elf boy?” I asked him, giving him a playful poke in the ribs. Justin gave another snort of laughter that sounded like a motorcycle starting up and shook his head, making a valiant effort at self-control.

“I’m just,” he gasped, looking up and wiping the tears of mirth from his face, “just admiring your astonishingly creative literary skills.”

I DONT NORMALLY FIND DRUNKS THIS SEXY... BUT THIS BRIAN GUY.

‘TH-PIDERS’ AND ‘TH-LIPPERS’

GRINS!

It was an ‘F’. Perfect.

YES.  EVERYTHING BRIAN WROTE IN THIS ROUND WAS PERFECT(LY FUNNY)!

“Justin, How ‘bout you Haul your Horny Husband’s Hiney Home so you can Have Hot Happy Holiday Hokey…and leave us to finish the fucking game?”

A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!  I NEVER WOULD HAVE EXPECTED MIKEY TO BE SO GOOD WITH THE ALLITERATION!

EXCELLENT STORY!

Author's Response:

LOL! I'm really glad this made you laugh :-) Scattagories is my favorite board game, and it's always best played with slightly tipsy academics. You wouldn't believe how creatively idiotic seemly highly intelligent people can get over it. I just couldn't resist trowing Brian and Justin into this, especially with Brian being the one who was slightly more intoxicated this time. He and Justin make quite a team!

Thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderful review ;-) It made me grin!

Reviewer: M_elle_22 (Signed) · Date: September 06, 2012 03:55 PM · On: Of Leprechauns and Gay Men: A Love Story

Oh my gosh.  I just love how you write Justin, and Brian's reactions to him are perfect.  This should be canon:

Brian had watched Justin’s progression through his stages of inebriation carefully that night, and was comforted to see that it was one thing New York hadn’t bred out of him. He’d still advanced through his ‘cheerfully merry’ stage to his ‘distressingly philosophical and deeply thoughtful’ stage, which had predictably been followed by the ‘high school girl giggly’ and ‘Animal Planet re-enactment’ stages.

AND THIS IS ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

This story is part of my new "Tipsy!B/J" series (B/J + Adult Beverages = ...)

Author's Response:

I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed this story, and that it gave you a giggle :-D There is a very special place in my heart for tispy!Justin as he progresses through his advanced stages of inebriation, with Brian struggling to keep up. I always imagined Justin as being someone who had little 'quirks' once they'd consumed enough adult beverages *g* I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you so much for reading and for your lovely comment. It means a lot and I appreciate it so much :-)

Your stories never fail to make me laugh, especially when there's alcohol involved (in the story, not me!) Justin is very profound when drunk. And Brian is obviously in love to just listen, especially when he's in danger of being puked on! Loved it!

Author's Response:

Thanks Megan Rose :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed this story and that it gave you a laugh! There is a very special place in my heart for tipsy!Justin in his Animal Planet splendor and the ever-patient Brian *g* Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comment. It means a lot :-)

So glad to see this posted on here!  I love the way that you portray Justin when he's overdone himself and goes into full-fledged, National Geographic Trivial Pursuit Mode.  Soooo funny!  The 'opposable' toes part and the glitter was a hoot!  Thank you for writing this - I think everyone of them have been adorable!  I wouldn't mind if you would write one of these for each holiday (Halloween's coming up - hint, hint).  Thanks so much for sharing these.:)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thanks Kim *hugs* I'm so thrilled that you liked this story ;-) The concept of Tipsy!Justin and his tendencies towards zoological geekery provide much fodder for my muse... partially because there is so much weird stuff out in nature that they don't tell you about in biology class *grin* Halloween, hmm... Now that's an interesting idea. There could be a rabid plot bunny there. Something to add to my collection of tipsy!holiday fics ;-) Thanks for the idea!

LOL these little games of yours never cease to make me smile. This game sounds just nuts...*crickets chirp at my lame pun*. Every game is just more fun when you add liquor, and Brian Kinney. Thanks for sharing this. *hugs*

Author's Response:

LOL! The game really is 'nuts'... at least this version way. In fact, it involved three kinds of nuts: the kind you can eat, the crazy person kind, and the certain part of male anatomy kind ;-) I'm really glad you enjoyed it! There's nothing like Brian Kinney with an adult beverage to stir things up a little ;-) Thanks again for reading and for your wonderful review *hugs back*

I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this story! Absolutely brilliant writing. It was perfection in every way, from characterization, to the plot, to the humor. It made me laugh out loud from beginning to end.

This is going in my favorites file, so that I can read it again and again and again.

Amazing work!

“I think,” he whispered huskily, “that we’ll be doing the Christmas Eve board game again next year – even if it does involve squirrels. Wouldn’t you agree?”

I shouldn't even be here but I could resist. Justin seducing Brian is always a good read and this was no exception. I loved it!

I am laughing so hard right now! The idea of Brian terrified of squirrels (I'm not that fond of them either, little garden-eating bastards!), board games run amuck, and reindeer carnage sounds like an awesome evening! I'm thinking I should bring this game to my family's Christmas. It may be the only way to get through it!

Author's Response:

LOL! I'm so glad this story gave you a laugh ;-) I find board games are always improved with a few adult beverages *g* I'm not a fan of squirrels, either (especially the big black ones *shudder*) - I think they maybe trying to take over the world, one garbage can at a time. I'm glad Brian seems to share my point of view ;-) Oh, it was a fun evening for them...and a fun morning to follow... Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review. Happy Holidays!!

Reviewer: debv3 (Signed) · Date: December 20, 2011 09:15 AM · On: S'Quarrels

I love this story!!! Love the fact that Brian is being stalked by grey squirrels and the image of Justin as a rapid squirrel with mange is great.   Do you post this every year, I feel like I've read it before.  Great story! Merry Christmas. Stay away from the egg nog ;-)

Author's Response:

I'm so glad you enjoyed this story :-) I always get a kick out of Brian's squirrel phobia (and I'm sure Justin does as well...) I wrote this last year and posted on LJ, but it's never been on Midnight Whispers before. I just realized today that I'd never posted it here *face palm* Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it the second time around ;-) Thanks so much for reading, as always, and for your wonderful review. I adore this story - it was an absolute riot from beginning to end.

I wish you could write "Games Gone Wild" for every holiday in the calendar year, including Orthodox Christmas on January 7th (which is when I celebrate it, incidentally). How about it?   :)

Cheers,

Vin

Author's Response:

Thanks Vin! I'm really glad you liked this story - it was the one that started off the Borad Game series ;-) If I had more time and played enough board games, I would tiotally write one for every holiday of the year. Unfirmatuanly, I tne to only manage to write one at Christmas. This was actaully last year's (which didn't make it onto this site as an oversight *faceplam*), but I'll probably write another one this year. Maybe in time for Orthodox Christmas... Fuckin' A! I laughed so hard at the 'definitions'... especially that last set! Awesome story, I loved it!

(I am also dying to know what was in it before that offended someone...I bet I'd have laughed my considerable ass off at whatever it was!)

Author's Response:

LOL! I'm really glad you enjoyed it ;-) I had some fun with the definitions... I'm thrilled that it gave you a laugh! I edited it because I had tried to imply that Rudolph was a mutant reindeer from Siberia. I suggested he had a glowing red nose after he'd taken a detour through Chernobyl on his annual spring migration. I was maybe a little blasé about the nuclear disaster and someone took offense. So I removed the bit out of respect for cultural sensitivity.

Funny story.   I think you've captured the characters nicely.  It's fun to imagine them doing 'normal' things like playing board games.  Good job.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed this story, and that it gave you a laugh ;-) There are so mnay board games out there, the possibilities for scenarios are endless... I like to imagine that Brian and Justin would get dragged into a game or two at Debbie's request. Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review. I appreciate it so much :-)

Damn girl you can write!!!!

I don't know where to start to properly say how very funny and entertaining this was from beginning to end. Pure genius of imagination and if I didn't know better I'd say you were having a nip or two typing this up, if not a toke.

Since you have no typos I'm only joking. Damn this was good.

I wish we had 10 stars and a gold trophy for such a fine piece of writing.

This is going in the archives of Our Best Fanfiction Classics.

Author's Response:

Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoyed it, and that you found it entertaining :-) And of course I'm thrilled with that the story got featured, and that it's been considered for the Best Fanfiction Classics. (And no, there was no booze involved in the writing of this - LOL! My imagination is quite active enough when I'm sober ;-) Again, thank you so much for your wonderful review, and for your kind words. I'm thrilled that you found this story amusing!

that was hilarious. couldn't stop laughing at the 'smurf' argument. i swear i almost fell out of my chair when i read the description of the poor unicorn being devoured by the dinosaur. that was great. thanks for the laugh.

Author's Response:

I'm so glad you found this amusing :-D I figured somewhere, in some dimension, dinosaurs and unicorns had to meet. I would be one of those epic 'theoretical' battles that show on the Discovery Channel stages - T. rex vs Unicorn! (I would totally watch that ;-) I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this. Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review! I really appreciate it :-)

This was inspired!! The logic behind the cakes is so convoluted, it works! This is just hysterically brilliant. As are all your storys (brilliant, not necessarily hysterical, I mean).

*still giggling*

Author's Response:

LOL! Thanks Megan Rose ;-) I'm so glad this story gave you a giggle! I love the logic of tipsy!Justin - it makes sense, just not necessarily the *right* sense. Good think Brian is fluent in horny!Justin ;-) Thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderful review! I really appreciate it :-)

I love your stories - particularly the humourous ones.  I find myself laughing out loud, even on repeated readings.  The cakes are fantastic!  I wonder if Emmett will actually use them once the whiskey-induced creativity wears off.  You must have the most amazing creative mind.

Author's Response:

Thanks :-D I think I might insist that my next birthday cake be a proto-Noah's Ark cake. Dinosaurs, unicorns and a delicious sugar high would take a lot of beating ;-) I'm sure Emmett would have used the cakes - I know some theology students and they actually would spend hours discussing the theoretical significance of each ;-) I'm really glad this gave you a laugh! Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful review :-D

Reviewer: JustBeAQueen (Signed) · Date: June 26, 2011 02:50 AM · On: Kiss My Kilt

The note to Noah from the Unicorns was enough to catch my attention... the summary was definitely hook, line and sinker... and the story was amazingly entertaining! I totally got the cakses based on the description before the explanation. Brilliant... and they would truly provide hours (presently and for years to come) of discussion among true theology majors... working at a university and knowing theology experts I can concure that cakes like that would absolutely be welcomed and enjoyed.

Although I must admit some disappointment... for an NC-18 rated story there wasn't a whole lot of NC-18 action. Not that it's necessary... but certainly makes a B/J story funner and hotter. Then again, now I have a PWP fic running through my mind involving kilts and chocolate... Love the story!

Author's Response:

Thanks :-) I'm really glad you enjoyed this story! The inspiration was actually a cake that we made for 'Dar-mas Day' (that is February 12th - Darwin's Birthday'). It was a combination of Noah's Arch, the Voyage of the Beagle, and dinosaurs (there were a fair few paleontologists present). I thought it would be fun to explore other cake ventures... I'm not entirely sure what my muse was doing when the kilt inspiartion came, but it works ;-) I also know some theology students who would really appreciate Emmett's cakes :-)

True, there is no hardcore NC-18 material in this story (although it is explicitly implied, and hence the rating). I'm not a huge shipper of porn-without-plot fics - I think sex has its place, and it's not nessisarily in every B/J fic ever written. I didn't want to throw the first part of the story away for a steamy sex scene that would have detracted from the first half. I write sex if it fits and if it feels right - in this story I felt it would be more effective if it was simply implied and left to the reader's imagination. But that's juts my style. *shrugs*

Thanks again for reading, and for your wonderful review! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this :-D

This was hysterical!  The story title grabbed my attention and even though it sounds funny, it is so true.  I can honestly say that I'd never pondered the ratio of the gay male population of the mantis until now.  ROFL!!

In my mind's eye, I can just see them bantering back and forth this way.  With 2 such intelligent guys, it is easy for me to imagine these quirky conversational debates occurring between them and with such humor.  I wish we got to see more of it on the show (can you just imagine Gale/Randy acting this script out?)

I won't be able to read about or see the color persimmon again without thinking of J's Bird of Paradise dance or B's reaction to it! *giggling like mad*

This really struck my funny bone and I enjoyed it very much (it's gone into my favorites)...thanks for sharing!

Author's Response: Hey there! I'm really glad you liked this story, and that it gave you a good laugh :-D 'Science humour', particularly zoological humour is highly underrated. there's a lot of weird shit out there that is just dying to be written about. I never get tired of weird animal facts :-) I like PSA!Justin, as well, and I can imagine him saying something like this. I'm also glad you're interested in 'Snakes' :-) It's taking me a lot longer to write than any of my previous fics because my writing time has been effectively halved since Christmas. I'm determined to finish it though, so I hope you'll stick around and wait it out...

Look forward to reading more of your stories soon.

Author's Response: Hey :-) It's really good to hear from you. I'm so sorry to hear about your friends- that must have been really hard for you. I'm glad to hear that you're doing better now. *Hugs* I took a bit of a hiatus from writing as well at the beginning of the year to contend with what was essentially two full-time jobs (one of which has now finished, mercifully).  I started writing again last month, with two new chapters of 'The Temptation of Snakes' (which I started in October). I've been meaning to tell you something.

Go listen to "Home," by Michael Buble.

If it doesn't totally inspire you to write something, it is at the very least comforting as a post-513 song.

Author's Response: Thanks Amelia- I'm really glad you enjoyed this story ;-) I'll have to see if I can find and listen to "Home"- it even sounds like a song that could be inspiring, especially in a post-513 sense. I'll definitely look out for it- thanks!!

This was incredibly clever and funny at the same time. I think I need to look up some of those words you used. And being an Aussie loved the refs. to our koalas and platypus. I'm hopeless at Pictionary so can empathise with Ben. Justin is totally hilarious when he's been drinking so can picture this so clearly with Brian being incredibly sexy and teasing him mercilessly.  Loved all of it.

Author's Response: Thanks ;-) I'm glad it gave you a laugh! I didn't mean to pick on Australian animals, but you have to admit that platypuses, wombats and echidnas- though very sweet and cute- are a little weird. (And of course, once I discovered that marsupials had a bifurcated penis, I knew I just had to fit it them into B/J story somewhere ;-) Writing Justin a bit tipsy was so much fun- he's still a bright spark, but he gets a little enthusiastic ;-) Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for reading, as always, and for your wonderful review!

That story was so funny.  Ill never play scategories the same again.

Author's Response: LOL! I love Scategories- especially when playing with people who are slightly inebriated ;) I'm really glad this story gave you a laugh. Thanks so much for reading, and for your much-loved comment!

"I thought of trying to make some witty quip that combined the words ‘humbug’ and ‘fucking’, but all I could come up with ‘humbuggering’ which didn’t quite sound right…"

This sentence was absolutely priceless! I loved it!

"‘#5. A reptile.’

Fuck me. A reptile? I put down ‘EGUANA’ in the hopes that no one would actually remember that ‘iguana’ started with a different letter. I could always argue that it was a ‘cyber iguana’- you know, e-mail, e-guana?"

I actually had to stop reading here for a good ten minutes, I just couldn't get through the sentence without giggling and forgetting that there was more of the story to enjoy. I tip my hat to you sir...erm...madam, you still continue to amaze me, and if my cousin would let me on the computer more often instead of hogging up MY laptop, your stories would definetly be filled with my reviews urging you on to continue writing!

Author's Response:

Thanks Alice ;) I love 'Scatagories'- it just never gets old. It's a classic with me and my family- we always play it on Christams Eve when everyone is full of, er, 'Christmas cheer'...

I'm really glad this story gave you a giggle! I loved working with a slightly tipsy Brian dressed as a reindeer! Thank you SO much for reading (whenever you regain possession of your computer ;)), and thanks for your much-loved review!

I am still chuckling from the laugh out loud histeria this had me in, so fucking funny.

Author's Response: Thanks :) This story still makes me laugh everytime I read it. This is one of those stories that you go back to and think 'geez, what was I on when I wrote this'? :) I can only put it down to 'holiday cheer, I guess. I'm really glad this one gave you a laugh :) Thanks for your reveiw, as always!

I love that game...

Author's Response: Me too! It's such a scream (particularly when you're a little tipsy...). Thanks so much for reading and for your review!!!

I love it! it's an 'hexcellent' story. I can just see Brian doing this. Is it an actual game? If so I would love to know the name of it.

Author's Response: Thanks- I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes, this is a real game- it is actually called 'Scattagories'. It's just a scream to play (particulary if you're playing with tipsy family/ friends), and it never gets old. The only game I can think of that slightly more amusing (when drunk) is Charades. That's one of the next humour fics I'm working on... I thinking it should be good :) Thanks so much for reading and for your review!

Any hope for a part 2 when Brian gets his elf home & has his wicked way with him?

Author's Response: Hmm...interesting concept...that could be fun :) Thanks!
