I was so excited to see this new chapter posted! I LOVE it!! I love their dynamic -- I can imagine it happening so clearly. The phases that Justin goes through when he wakes Brian up are absolutely perfect, too.
I love the imagery in his dream; that takes so much creativity and would be tricky to do well -- fantastic!
I also admire the way time progresses so naturally in your story; you highlight key events and summarize in such a way that I feel the spirit of the time that's gone by, and yet I'm not walking through every moment with them. That's a wonderful skill to have as a writer.
The questions -- "You do trust me, right?" are just heartbreaking...
Wonderful chapter!!!! Thanks for posting!!!!
Author's Response: Thanks Tiffany. Wow- I just love your amazing reviews :-) I'm really happy that you said what you did about the passage of time- no one has ever mentioned that to me before, and I'm very glad that you have. Thanks! I'm happy that you liked Brian's dream, as well- the imagery was a bit unusual, but I loved the idea of the snake so much I just had to use it. Thanks so much for reading, and for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it very much :-D

I just stumbled on this story and wanted to say how beautiful and heart-wrenching I find it. Brian is so lost right now, I'm just glad that he realizes that he need Justin's love and support. I always thought that Lindsey never got her come-uppance for all the manipulating she did to Mel, Brian, and Justine. Hope to read more soon.
Author's Response: Thanks- I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying it! 'm also glad you feel the way you do about Lindsay- I never really liked her character, but I could never forgive her for what she did the Brian at the end of season 5. In my opinion, a confrontation is long overdue... Anyway, thanks so much for reading! Thanks also for your wonderful review- I really appreciate it so much :-D

Wow. That dream sequence was amazing. I remember learning about the the baby monkey and the two 'mommies' one hard the other soft. It's a great metaphor/anlogy for Brian's inner turmoil. Brian's hard shell with Lindsey part of him versus Justin and the love he has. Lindsey as the snake worked really well. She works as temptation with what she offers (a child, friendship, love) and once she got her coils around Brian she never let go. Great chapter. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Author's Response: Thanks Jackie :-) I LOVE your analogy with Lindsay as the snake- offering Brian a child etc., so that her coils wrap more and more tightly around him. I never thought of it like that, but it's great! Thank you ;-) I'm also kind of surprised you heard about the experiment with the baby monkey. That picture does exist, as does the book, but I haven't thought anyone else would have seen or heard about it. How cool :-) Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for reading, as always, and for your wonderful review. I really appreciate it!

I wanted to write to say that I absolutely love this story. I think you've done a great job of looking at how parts of Brian's character could become weaknesses and how that would be dealt with by him and Justin as a pair.
It's also very well written and I'm always a sucker for h/c stories, especially the kind that get into psychological aspects of things.
That said, I also love your character, Etienne, and the way that therapy is progressing. Brian might end up in therapy soon for a fic I'm working on and I hope I can make it as good as yours!
I can't wait to read more! Thanks for posting!
Author's Response: Thanks Tiffany :-) I'm so glad you're enjoying this story, and that you like the psychological aspect of it. I've always considered Brian to be a lot more complex than he appears on the surface, with a lot of issues that he never seems to want to discuss (i.e. his abusive childhood etc). Deciphering him in this story has been a journey in and of itself ;-) I hope you'll find it as interesting as I have when you write it in your fic. Thanks again for reading, and for your wonderful review. I really appreciate it!

Wow. This is such a complex, tightly-woven story, and it's so exquisitely well-written. I never heard of this type of anorexia. Poor Brian is so damaged by outside influences, and he knows it. I like the exploration of how Lindsay had a hand in splitting them up at the end of the series. I have a theory on that which may be the same as yours. I'm looking forward to the big reveal, and for what happens next.

Author's Response: Hey there :-) Thanks so much for this wonderful review- it means a lot to me. I'm very glad that you're enjoying this story. Orthorexia is still not recognized as an eating disorder in it's own right- it's lumped in with anorexia, because the symptoms are very similar. What I found interesting about orthorexia (an obsession with what the victim perceives to be healthy eating) is that it seems to affect men more than woman. Brian seemed as if he might be especially vulnerable to it- all it needed was a catalyst, which came in the form of Justin and Gus being taken from him. As for Lindsay- I could never forgive her for taking Gus away from Brian at the end of S5. She KNEW it would break his heart. I decided to explore why she might have done it anyway, even when she professed to love him. Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying this, and I hope you like where it goes ;-) Thanks again for reading, and for your wonderful comment!

This is amazing, and I like the introduction of Etienne (and Owen) into the story.
Author's Response: Thanks :-) Etienne's understanding of Brian comes partially from familiarity. There quite similar in many ways, but in others, very different. As a father himself, Etienne can understand what it meant to Brian to loose Gus. Anyway, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for reading, and for your wonderful review!
