You stunned me with your imagery and your writing is almost like poetry. This is one amazing story that will stay with me for a very, very long time.

But light always finds its way in through every cracked shutter and under every doorjamb, through every keyhole, escaping out through every tiny break in the clouds. Unlike darkness, light can't be shut out.
I wonder if this boy will be able to weather it, and if he will one day discover that- beneath the gloss and the shine and the show- the raven is a dove as well.
Those are my two favorite lines from this story. Your imagery is amazing.

This was beyond beautiful, and a lot of truths to be found in your analogies. Loved the parts comparing Justin with a dove, Brian as a raven and his sunglasses. Fascinating how you were able to capture the whole psychological aspect of their early relationship in one short story.. Left me yearning, in a very sentimental way.

I'm so glad you found all the meanings in the imagery and analogies ;-) I think there's a bit of a raven and a dove in both Brian and Justin, but we only get to see it a their relationship unfolds.
