Reviews For The Gathering

I decided to reread this story to try to get into the spirit of the holiday.  It's a great story that is a bit over the top, but fun and loving to read.  I am hoping that now that we are in the holiday season once again that there will be more chapters and maybe a conslusion to the story.  Thank you so much for the enjoyable read.

Author's Response: The remaining chapters are all outlined. I just need to get them written. You are right it is the holiday time and a perfect time for updates. Thanks for commenting.

Nice chapter.  Lots of nice people, who like each other and are enjoying

the holidays.  They are happy and the joy is contagious as I smile

while reading this story.

I know I don’t really get a vote, but I do hope that

Carl and Debbie get married.  You know – sometimes the timing

is just right for something.  Well this is it – time for them to marry.

I give Debbie credit for making a statement.  But it is simply

time.  Everyone is together  and want this.

Michael?  Well what can I say?  It looks like he will go along with it.

But – he sure can screw it up.  We will see.

Thanks for the chapter and of course, thanks for the story.

DavidR

Author's Response: David....Thanks for commenting. I see that you have your usual faith in Michael. (smile) We'll have to see how things play out, won't we? And of course, you get a vote about whether Carl and Debbie get married. You are entitled to your opinion. Of course, I never know what The Muse has in store about these things. (smile) I'm glad that you're enjoying this story. I started it over a year ago because I wanted a happy holiday story. Of course, then The Muse took over and the story has taken on a life of it's own with twists and turns even I never expected. I'm glad to know that it makes you smile.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you like the chapter. At the moment, It looks like the weekly updates are all that I handle, so please be patient with me. More to come....

I just love this story.

Please keep on writing because you are gifted writer.

I am still waiting to about Thorpe, the dog series and Justin's entry to Milan.

Have a  nice summer and please write, you are a great one.

Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting and letting me know that you like this story. The Gathering is keeping me pretty busy at the moment. Once this story is complete....I will resume posting on The Thorne Saga II. I really hate to have unfinished fics. (smile) I will also begin Part II of And So Moving Forward, which will let us all know what happened with Justin's entry into Milan....although this story has hinted about that. LOL I will be continuing to write all through the summer...not to worry....with the usual breaks as I go off on assignments. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I always look forward to a new chapter of this story. I love the whole series! After this christmas story is done, will you be continuing on the series?   I hope so.

There is another story I think kind of belongs to this series, but I don't think you wrote it. It goes back a few years, while Brian is on a business trip he runs into Paul for the first  time since college. And Justin is flying to meet Brian and ends up meeting Jason on the plane. They all hang out together and become the good friends they are now. Can you please help me find this story. I've looked and looked and can't find it again.

Thank you

Author's Response: The story that you are looking for when Brian runs into Paul and Justin meet Jason on a plane is called "Seeing It Through" by Lois. When I was writing "Talisman of Time", Lois allowed me to borrow Paul and Jason for my stories. As soon as I get a chance, I will repost both of her stories. Of course, Nicky didn't exist in the Lois stories, but he's here now. LOL In the meantime, I'm glad that you're being entertained by this long running Christmas story with all the characters and all the chapters. (smile) Believe me, once I finish this epic tale, I will return to Thorne and my the continuation of my other stories. Thanks for hanging in there with me. (smile)

i can't imagine what justin got himself into now but i'm sure brian will refresh his memory and mine.

things are falling into place nice. hope mac and laurie can make it in for dinner. the more the merrier.

Author's Response: We'll have to whisper the more the merrier because we all know how Brian feels about holidays....which is probably why Justin has earned himself a trip in the hot tub. LOL In spite of how long it's taken me, things are really starting to fall into place. A few more chapters to close out Christmas Eve...and then the chaos of Christmas at Bri-tin can really begin. (smile) Then who knows what can happen.....

What´s Michael going to do and how will Ben react? And Debbie? I´m looking forward to the next chapter.

Will we see another chapter of the Thorne Sage II soon?

Hugs, Sunny

Author's Response: You know you're going to have to be patient to see what happens between Michael/Ben and Michael/ Debbie. Don't worry, I will get there. (smile) Now about everyone's favorite Shar Pei, I will begin posting chapters of Thorne Saga II as soon as The Gathering is complete. I dislike having this many unfinished fics...so I'm doing my best to complete them one at a time. So, please continue to hang in there with me. (smile) Thanks for commenting.

Can't wait to see Debbie's reaction. She always be the front line of Gay Pride. But I want her to be happy too. Really happy.

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. Back at the end of season 4 of QAF when Debbie made here decision not to marry Carl, it was a gesture of support. I just thought it was time to re-examine the decision from a perspective of a new group of people. I also wanted to acknowledge some of the changes in the world in the time since. We'll have to wait to see what Debbie's reaction is going to be. Like you, I want to see her happy too. (smile) More to come....

I love the story, and don't really care how slow the updates are--as long as they keep coming eventually.  Keep up the wonderful work.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for commenting and letting me know that you love this story. I have slowly come to terms with the fact that there are a lot of characters all doing things worth mentioning...so it's taking a long time to tell this story. I'll do my best to keep the updates coming. It's good to know that you'll be there to read them...even though they take a while. (smile) More to come...

Now that Daniel and Michael arrived at Woody's, things should get very interesting. LOL.

"But Ted wasn’t finished. “It wouldn’t do any good anyway. Gus will always think that Justin belongs to him.”

But what about Brian? Gus loves his daddy as well, right? LOL.

Great chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. I'm glad that you liked the chapter. And, not to worry, Gus definitely still loves Brian. LOL But at six going on seven, Gus still thinks of Justin as His Justin...I think that Ted was right this isn't going to change. (smile)

Great chapter, looking forward for more. :D

Reviewer: DavidR (Anonymous) · Date: April 08, 2009 10:55 AM · On: Special Delivery for the Vic Grassi House

Hi,

I enjoyed these last few chapters.  What wonderful people your

characters are (except you know who).   With all those kids and

all those people,  finding the time to spend at the Vic Grassi Hospice

and  at the Rehab Center is so fitting for these people. .  However, it is kind of bitter sweet and I did feel a sense of sadness.  I am reminder

that Vic is dead, and these guys are very sick. Christmas eve is still a day

and not everything, Christmas or not,  is wonderful.  At least for me,  it’s a good reminder.

Blake’s comment: “Life is really just a series of moments,”  said so much.

Thanks for that.

Michael?  If nothing else, you have kept his character consistent.   It’s

Christmas so I will just move on to another topic.

I enjoyed the debate whether  Carl and Debbie should get married.  Both sides have a point.  Although no one has asked me, I vote ‘yes’.  Now that everyone is there, what a great way to celebrate their love and the love of their family.  I think this celebration should super cede  Debbie’s protest.

Thanks again for the story.  It is wonderful reading.

DavidR

Author's Response: So you're back from your trip and all caught up on the chapters. This is good news. I'm glad that you're enjoying the last few chapters. Let's face it the characters on QAF have so much, I just wanted them brightening a few other lives. The can't change the situation for those at the Vic Grassi House and The Rehab Center, but they can bring a touch of the holidays and a few moments of joy. Now about Michael, you have to admit that he's had a few surprising moments in this story. (smile) But Michael is still Michael, and he just doesn't take changes well. (smile) We'll have to see what The Muse has in store for Carl and Debbie. Thanks for commenting.

I love your series, and I think that it's been interesting so far watching how the plot of this series and your writing style have developed up to this point.

One thing I've noticed is that your writing is very dialogue-heavy in contrast to the relative sparseness of your descriptions and details.  If you don't mind me throwing out this bit of concrit, a goal that you could work toward to further improve your writing would be to try and balance these two aspects out - dialogue and description.  Your story is already very good, but from experience I would say that striking a good balance between amount of dialogue versus description will make your writing much richer than it is right now.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more from you and more of this series!  ~Endless

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. I'm glad that you like my stories. I have tried to keep the characters and the spirit of the QAF the series alive, using all the characters and adding a few new ones. You don't need to worry. Once "The Gathering" is finished, I will finished "Thorne Saga II" and then return to writing "And So Moving Forward". I'm like everyone else, I really dislike unfinished stories. Author's Response: As we have seen Michael is growing in his own unique way. Daniel has made a big difference. I love this story.  Can't wait to read more.  Please!!!!

Reviewer: DavidR (Anonymous) · Date: February 13, 2009 10:18 AM · On: Arrivals 107

Hi again,

Well – I am back from my trip and so far have only read up to Chapter 39.  The first 30 chapters I read on my flight (going). That was great as it certainly help make  my flight seem shorter.

Just two quick comments.

I thought it was funny that when  Mac explained the ‘extended’ family to Philip, you left out Danny.  I’m not sure you can summarize just who Danny is in just two or three sentences.  Actually I am not sure that Philip would understand  the relationship of Danny to the rest of the ‘extended’ family.

What I like so far in the story are the characters.  They all seem like nice people,  they get along well with each other, and finally they seem to like one another.  As a reader, I too like these people.

Enough for now.  Happily I have many chapters waiting for me to read.

As always, thanks for writing this story.

no horses yet? when will justin ever leave NY? poor gus is so hopeful. will they all be going to the hospice for christmas eve? with brian's full schedule, at least in his mind, i hope he finds the time. lol

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. Nope...no horses yet. With opportunities opening up in NYC for Brian in this series and with Justin's career taking off, I suspect that they will be in NYC for a while..definitely interfering with Gus' plans for horses at the mansion. LOL But we'll have to see what Santa has in store. (smile) We'll also have to wait and see what happens for Christmas Eve and the hospice. (smile) I'm glad that you're still reading with me.

Hi,

I just wanted to wish you a happy new year and to say

hello once again.  I am so glad you have continued – giving us The Gathering.  I haven’t read it yet as I am taking a long trip (vacation) and have printed off the first 17 chapters, so far.  I have a long long flight, and lucky me, to help time pass I have your story.

So  -- I am thanking you in advance as I know I will really

have one terrific time reading.  I won’t be able to comment,

and I won’t be back for about a month.

So thank you, thank you, thank you.  This is one traveler who is going to have a long but enjoyable flight – in part ecause of you.

DavidR

Author's Response: So there you are....I think that I've posted thru Chapter 27 or 28 so far. Hopefully, these chapters will at least get you thru your flight one way. I'm not sure what will happen on your flight back.(smile) However, I hope that you have a great vacation. So you'll be gone a month. I always expect that my stories will post and conclude sooner they they actually do, but this is a holiday story....so courtesy dictates that it should posted by Valentine's Day....so that I don't conflict with all the Brian and Justin Valentine stories that are sure to post. I look forward to your comments, when you return. Thanks for commenting.

Author's Response: Michael seems to be experiencing that a lot lately....walking in at Debbie's to find that joyous dinner is in progress. Maybe, he's getting used to this. (smile) Of course, Michael still thinks that it's all about him....even during the holidays. LOL Thanks for commenting.

I love this story. But I'm curious where Thorne is in this story. Thank you for sharing the story with us.

Elli

Author's Response: I wrote this story before Thorne was created. I considered going back and putting Thorne in the story, but I felt that I would be wielding too many characters. And, you know that Thorne would definitely steal every scene...thinking that he was supposed to be the center of attention. (smile) I'm glad that you're enjoying this story anyway. I really love this new installment! :-)

Especially the short time between updates!

The kids are too cute and the new characters promise lots of fun! lol♥

Thanks for sharing with us!

Hugs Anja (from Germany as well ;-))

Author's Response: I'm glad that you like this story. I will admit there are a lot of characters, which is how I think it should be for a family holiday. Thanks for commenting.

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I really love this story. It's funny and adorable. Did you have help with the German parts in the first chapters? Because I'm reading chapter 19 right now and even though I'm German I have to read the English part sometimes to understand what you mean. If you want help with these parts you can write me: susi01@web.de  I can't wait for the next chapters.

Author's Response: I did have help with the German, of course judging by the emails I received about my creative German (smile) I'm beginning to wonder if I accidently picked up my original translation instead of the corrected version. (smile) Let me check the German again. So Sorry! Thankfully, I always give you the translation to make up for these little glitches. (smile) I'm glad that you like the story anyway. Thanks for commenting.

I love your stories and how often you update.  This is a scenario that I wondered about in the show too, and I am enjoying your version.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you were wondering too. Thanks for commenting and letting me know that you're enjoying the story.

i'm reading your talisman series and i wanted to read lois's "see me through" and other stories introducing jason and paul but the link on her geocities site doesn't work, do you know where i can find them? thanks and keep writing!

Author's Response: There is a link to "saved stories" on the home page of the midnight whispers site. Locate Lois in the list. You will need her stories 1623 and 1621, and they should be read in that order. At the moment the easiest thing is to just copy each story into a program like MSWord, then you will easily be able to read both stories about Jason and Paul. Of course, you will remember that Nicky did make his appearance until my story "Between Now And Then." If you have any problems....just let me know. Thanks for commenting. I'm glad that you like the Talisman series.

Happy to see the continuation of the story. Where's Thorne in this story? Look forward to seeing how the families will come together and interact with each other.

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. I'm glad that you like the story. There's no Thorne in this one. I wrote this one before Thorne came into existence. I hope that you like the story anyway. (smile)

I can't wait for the two families to meat. It should be interesting.

Feel free to upload as many chapters as you like at a time, I'm sure we can handle it ;-)

Author's Response: Thanks for commenting. I'll just try to keep up with my daily posting. (smile) I'm glad that you're reading with me.

I am so happy you are continuing this. But, one question...did I miss the part in Italy? I was looking forward to finding out what happened with J's painting and the vacation. I hope more comes up in future chapters. I can't wait to hear more about M and Ben...and how it is impacting B/J. Should be an interesting holiday!

Author's Response: No you're not missing anything. The vacation trip has already happened, so you will hear references to it in this story. I just have posted that story yet. Eventually, i'll get the order all straightened out. But this is the holiday story. If you will remember, Carl told Melanie that his kids were coming to spend Christmas with him. This is the story of how that plays out. Don't worry...I hardly ever write a story without all the QAF characters being around. I hope that you like this little take on Christmas.
