The problem with Brandon was that he wanted so much to be Brian Kinney that he forgot to be himself.

Your story definately illustrated this point!  Good job.

Its a pity.  We all do love our bad boys, mostly because we believe that all they need is the love and caring from the right person.

Brian is fundamentally good and loving.  He strove to become successful, to get his revenge in proving himself to be smarter, more capable and more hard working.  When he obtained success financially, he bought his mini palace in the sky, then spent his money on his friends and loved ones when they needed it and him.  When love came knocking, he couldn't accept it.    And yet, when it needed him, he housed it looked after it and educated it so it too could know success without being dependant on anyone.  Yes, he did everything he knew how to do to make sure Justin became the best possible homosexual he could be.

In Justin's success Brian began to see his own self worth.  Here was a young man he highly admired, who admired HIM.  I believe that in his case, Brian was a bad boy who just needed the love and caring of a good man brave and strong enough to weather all the Kinney storms of denial.

Now, in the case of Brandon, as you wrote him...

He was not unloved but failed to learn how to love and be loving.  His education was fought hard for, but he felt no gratitude.  What he took and stole successfully was his measure of accomplishment.  Brandon is why our mothers tell us that bad boys are no good.  He will take your love and adulation, he will take everything you give him and steal the rest.  I dont know if a man such as he will even recognize love when it is offered, and doubt he is selfless enough to welcome it in and take care of it.  :o(

Ha, ha, ha.  (The problem with Brandon was that he wanted so much to be Brian Kinney that he forgot to be himself). That's what it truly comes done to.  I don't know how I missed this before.  I really enjoyed reading it.  Thanks for it.  Really well written.  It kept me wanting more and more.  Later, Tay

Brandon just got his first lesson in "no one messes with Sunshine" 101! Great story and interesting back history on Brandon.
