Really , what's wrong with Mel ?? She's treating her daughter almost like a prisoner!

But fortunately there are Brian and Justin ....

Gus and Shane, ahh, seems to be a good thing for both of them :)

Love your epic long chapters!

Author's Response:

I'm thrilled you like the longer chapters in this story!  Thank you for letting me know :)  They can be quite epic though, I agree :)

Mel is a unique character.  Very demanding and very control-oriented.  For JR's sake, it's a good thing she has the support and help of Brian and Justin!  The next chapter will reveal so much more of this particular dynamic.

Yes, Gus and Shane seem to be a good match!  We'll learn more about how their relationship progresses in future chapters.

Thanks bunches for your comments and for reading this story!  So glad you are enjoying it!!

Ohh I almost forgot...I realize you're  probly got all your ideas regarding the legal stuff but I thought I d throw some stuff out there for you to consider/research/put into the story.

dual citizenship

emancipation...if so then have GUS apply as guardian. I know this sounds weird but think about it. Gus lives with Brian and Justin. This will allow jenny to "live" with them and then have "visitation" with the Pitts crew (just thought of that)  whenever and however long they want.

have Jenny change her name.

OK there was more but I can't remember. but these are the main things. Look em up, toss em out, tell me to go to hell. Just a few ideas.

Author's Response:

I truly appreciate your feedback and ideas!  Thank you!

I've already written the plot regarding Jenny's custody, but I did research my 'solution' to hopefully make it all plausable.  I only hope that it reads well in the next chapter :)  It's sometimes difficult because there are so many resources, and occasionally, they contradict one another.  I suppose I can only wish for the best :)

I'm grateful for your insight and your suggestions!  Thanks again for sharing them with me.

Oh hell man! What a ride! I m calling this chapter  The Rapunzel Syndrome for obvious reasons. Good thing she has five Prince Charmings on the way to save her. (I'm counting Gus.

As for Gus, I m glad he s getting over Conner but the same thing Brian though wen through my mind as well. What if Shane is a gold digging con? Hmmmmm......

This is the first story I've read with Gus being older than 5-12. So a sex scene involving Gus was a little weird. I keep having to remember he is 18.

Otherwise  a very good chapter overall.

Author's Response:

JR indeed has a terrific support system!

I tink tat Sane will be good for Gus, and vice versa.  We'll ave to see ow teir relationsip progresses.  Tat is, if Brian doesn't totally 'wig out' on im :)

I agree that writing a storyline where Gus is legally considered an adult and can do many adult activities (such as having sex), was a little akward at first for me to write, because I kept picturing him as this adorable kid, LOL.  But as time went on, it did get easier...luckily.

I'm so happy to know you liked this chapter!  Thanks so much for your feedback!

Wow, Shane has integrated into Gus life very nicely. Now if Justin can just keep Brian from pummeling him... He, he, he...

I feel so sorry for JR, but now that Brian's hired an attorney I can't wait for the showdown between Canada and the US...

Great Chapter Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Thank you so very much, Kathleen!!  I'm so delighted you liked this chapter!

Brian will certainly have a reaction to Gus and Shane having sex...oh, the suspense :)  Justin might have to referee, LOL!

The next chapter will reveal the results of Brian's help to get custody of JR for Ben and Michael.  Showdown will soon commence!

I'm so grateful for your encouraging and supportive comments!!

Wow Gus is moving forward and it looks like he has a good partner. Me thinks Brian may not be so happy with Gus's choice for a while lol. Omg Mel is living nightmare, way to go to ostrsize your kids

Author's Response:

Yes, I think Shane and Gus will be good for each other.  And I have no doubt that Brian will have a 'queen-out' moment when he finds out :)

Indeed, Mel is a very interesting and scary character in this plotline.  We'll see in the next chapter what happens concerning custody of JR.

I'm so glad you are continuing to enjoy this story!  I appreciate your encouraging feedback immensely!!  Thank you!

Nooooo....it can't end here lol. I really can't wait to see what happens with the munchers. Mel has lost her rabbit ass mind.

Author's Response:

I know, I left a little bit of a cliffhanger here :(  I truly tried not to, but the chapter would have been VERY long.

I love your comment about Mel loosing her mind :)

Thanks so much for reading and your continued support of this story!!  More to come soon, and we'll find out what happens with custody of JR.

I like how long each of your chapters are!

How nice to see Gus recovering.

I hope for JR's sake that Brian can get her into her dads custody. Mel is such a bad mother.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you like the long chapters in this story :)  I try not to end each chapter with major cliffhangers, and so there's usually a lot of information packed into the chapters :)

I think that Gus is indeed recovering well, and Shane seems to be a positive influence, who is good for him.

The next chapter will shed some light on Mel and J.R., regarding custody, and Michael and Ben's petition for their daughter to live with them.

Thank you so very much for reading and for commenting!  Your encouraging feedback is immensely appreciated!!

Im just in love with your story it's so beautiful. I'm glad Gus is getting back to normal and I love Shane as well Brian and Justin are so HOT and for Mel let that bitch suffer lol looking forward for the next chapter

Author's Response:

I'm so delighted you are reading and loving this story!!  It means so much to hear that!  Thank you!!

Yes, Gus is improving greatly and I think he and Shane compliment each other well.

Brian and Justin are still the hottest couple ever; they're so perfect together.

The next chapter will deal heavily on what happens with Mel and J.R.

I appreciate your wonderfully supportive feedback immensely!!

Shane and Gus that was a surprise.  Hope it works out for them.  Mel is about tofeel the wrath of Kinney and that is a good thing.  Great chapter.  Bill

Author's Response:

Thanks immensely for your encouraging, supportive feedback, Bill!!  I think Gus and Shane will be good for each other.  Yep, I do believe that Mel will soon experience a side of Brian she never expected.  More to come, soon!

wow, this was a long  amazing chapter. whe it was  apparent Brian had a plan upon Gus' release from the hospital, I wa s riveted. Good job. Looking forward to more and now looking forward to the prequel.

So did something happen there that caused all this strife. I mean I know there was the usual dyke/fag conflict in the show but nothing this intense. And no offense but it seems like this story is very skewed against the lezzies. I mean, they can't say ANYthing without getting their heads bitten off. And yet at the same time Brian and Justin need to be fitted for tights, capes and masks! I kinda feel sorry for them in this universe. (Except at the beginning)

Author's Response:

This was a pretty intense chapter, I agree.  I'm delighted you enjoyed reading it!!

I made the chapters in this story quite a bit longer, because I didn't want to leave any cliffhangers between them, and it is a longer story than its prequel.  (In the prequel, I tended to leave cliffhangers at the end of each chapter.)

I wasn't trying to make a villian out of any of the caracters, and I have been asked that same thing by a few other readers, too.  I suppose the best explination I can give is that to fit the premise of the story, and how it will all evendually end and come to fruition, Lindsay and Mel's characters are a bit more dramatic.  However, in my opinion, in the show, both of them were already a bit intense in their behaviour.  But that is only my viewpoint :)  The prequel to this story (To Be Or Not To Be) does describe in great detail the path Mel and Lindsay took to get them to this point of their often skewed actions.

I appreciate your feedback, and I hope you continue to like the story!  Thank you for taking the time to read and to comment!!

Brian, Justin, Ben, and Michael went to the hotel restaurant to eat supper.  Their conversation didn’t stray from the events of the past few ours

Translation: First re group and comparing of clues.

The next few scenes were NEVER in Scooby Doo. You'll have to read them for yourselves!

Gus quickly flipped the switch to turn on the overhead light in the room, only to have his fear confirmed…Jenny wasn’t there!

Ruh! Roh!

I don’t understand any of this!” Mel continued to shout.

Second altercation with the spooky ghost. One of the gang is in trouble! Rescue squad mobilize!

Brian was keen enough to have had suspicions earlier in the day regarding Mel’s harsh, outrageous behavior regarding Jenny Rebecca, and now, it was confirmed.

The clues start to fall into place.

“Go to hell!” Mel screamed.

The evil witch attacks again. But the gang is armed with the evidence now! Her power is fading.

“I do know,” Brian told her, “And I also know an out-of-control alcoholic when I see one!”  His own memories of his abusive, drunk father, flashed through his head.

Let's see who this witch REALLY IS!!<pulls off mask>>  It's Mel!!!

And...there we go...OK, I'll stop now. Seriously tho, I think this story is great. Mel with a <spoiler> is a new one but hope this means they will be out of the story and Brian and company get their kids. I always like a good..get the kids away from the munchers...story and the different ways it happens.

Since I couldn't find anything wrong with this fic except for maybe being a little long...I decided to play a little game. I' noticed certain parrelels and have translated the chapter for the Scooby impaired.

Brian stood up and paced the floor for a minute.  He looked over at Justin, saying, “There’s something else going on with those two munchers.”

Translation: Well Gang, looks like we got  mystery on our hands!

“You and Ben go pack a bag and make your way to the airport, NOW!  I’ll have e-tickets waiting for you at the counter.  Your plane will make a stop here in New York, and Justin, Gus, and I will join you on the flight to Toronto.  Any questions?”

Translation: Time for a ride in the Mystery Machine!

Brian placed a hand on his son’s shoulder and said, “Gus, why don’t you go with your sister and Ben.”

Translation: Time to split up and look for clues!

First altercation and chase with the scary ghost: They have encountered a spooky Jewish witch.

Justin was now placing the cold cloth J.R. had handed to him on Brian’s forehead, and Justin was giving Brian sips of water, along with the additional blood pressure and heart pills Gus had retrieved.

Translation: The gang has escaped the spooky witch but now new problems arise along with more questions. What exactly did crawl up Mel's butt? And  why did it have to die?

Shortly thereafter, Brian and Justin hugged their son and J.R. goodbye, and Michael and Ben did the same with the kids.  The four men got into the Cadillac Escalade Brian had rented, and drove to the hotel they were all staying at for the night.

Back in Lindsay and Mel’s house, Gus hurriedly ushered J.R. upstairs and into her bedroom.  The air in the house was still so thick with dissention, it made both kids nervous

Translation: Zoiks! Run for it, Scoob!!

More to cum!

I know the last words of this chapter were " She’ll never go to Pittsburgh to live. I won’t fucking let it happen.”

But it occurred to me when I was reading this chapter, and Michael was talking about how Mel said he could play a more active part of JR life when she was older.

Well, he still has his parental rights, and technically she was suppose to live with him 1/3 of the time, so maybe Michael should get court ordered custody. So she can finished her high school years in Pittsburgh...

Another great chapter!

Later Sweetheart ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Thank you, Kathleen!  I'm thrilled you enjoyed this chapter!!

Yes, you're right about Mel saying Michael could play a more active roll in J.R.'s life as she got older, but then made the comment later on in the story, "She'll never go to Pittsburgh....."  What I was attempting to portray (and I'm sorry if I did it badly) was because of the fact that later on Mel was so upset with Brian, regarding Gus, on many levels, she became determined to NOT let that type of scenario happen between her daughter and Michael.  (She blamed Brian for interferring in their lives; for Gus moving away to live with him; for the things Gus said in his graduation speech about his dads and yet didn't mention his moms).

In the next chapter, we'll see more of Michael trying to exercise his parental rights :)

I truly appreciate your continued feedback and encouraging support!!

First, its seems so far back in the chapter but... I thought maybe Lindsay was going to ask Gus for his sperm... I know, totally gross!

Even though Justin had to go through a panic attack, and such an emotional upheaval. It think t's a good thing for him to remember, and to finally find out that Brian's loved him along...

Hopefully it will help Brian be able to deal with his inability to express his emotions...

Beautiful Chapter!

Hugs Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Lindsay certainly does have a Brian obsession :)

It was a 'silver lining' Justin discovered in finding out how long Brian had truly loved him!  I agree that Brian's expressive ways just may improve ;)

What's going on with those women?? Their behavior gives me a feeling of nausea ... Can parents really be so selfish??

And Gus taking several drugs daily for a long time?? Hopefully he now get's the chance to change that ...

But poor J.R. ... I assume there's a difficult time ahead.

Great chapter, as always, enjoy this story very much!

Author's Response:

Mel and Lindsay are interesting charcters, to be sure!

I think that with the calm and helpful environment Gus is in now with his dads, and attending college, his future will improve in many areas :)

J.R. will definately have some changes in her life...one way or another.  We'll find out soon exactly what happens there!

Wow and just when I thought the munchers couldn’t get worse. What the hell does Mel have up her sleeve? Is it her intention to try and keep JR from seeing her dads? If that's the case, she better be careful because she will lose her daughter....one way or another.

Author's Response:

Lindsay and Mel are quite the pair!  I'm sure Mel will try something, but as you said, she needs to be careful (though being careful isn't something she's good at when she's angry)!  The next chapter will reveal more.

Once again a great chapter full of drama. Those women really need to stop being so controlling and selfish. Loved what Gus said in his speech. Hopefully with Gus away from that environment the boys will be able to wean Gus off some of that medication. Now off to a new life....new start..... can't wait....

Author's Response:

Truly, Gus' future is beginning to brighten for him, in several different areas.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Gus' speech!

What a chapter!  Melanie and Lindsey won't be able to live together while the kids are gone because they will have no one to control.  It scares me to think what Melanie has planned to keep JR prisoner.  Gotta admit having Lindsey's parent there was unbelievable, I just want to shake Mel and Linds and put them in time out.

Author's Response:

I'm so glad you liked this chapter!  Mel and Lindsay are all about control, excapt SELF control.  J.R. will be in new territory trying to cope with her moms on her own.  I like your idea of 'time out' for the two women!  Excellent!

Linday's parents won't be mentioned any more in the story, but it was indeed a nice little twist to add to this chapter :)

Thank you for commenting!  I appreciate it immensely, along with your on-going support!

Gus moving to New York will continue to be a very positive influence on him.  Yet in the next chapter, a bit more angst, from anoter direction, will appear...oh, my :)  And J.R., I'm sure, will have a bit of a struggle on her hands dealing with her moms.

There is so much going on here that I don’t even know where to begin. First of all the munchers need to back off, secondly I have just fallen in love with our favorite couple all over again. The love and passion and tenderness they have for each other is an envied thing. Now I know that Daphne's heart was in the right place, but maybe she didn't think her action through fully when it came to the DVD...still gotta love her sentiment though.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your supportive comment!  This chapter was busy, for sure!

Brian and Justin indeed have an amazingly strong and passionate bond, and yet share such tenderness...so heartwarming.

Adored this chapter.
Poor Gus seeing the results of one of Justin's panic attacks. He had never seen it before.
I like that he and Brian can talk so openly and honestly. Makes for a great relationship between the two.
Michael is still a pain in the ass at times.

Yay for Jenny's Christmas gift.

Mel and Lindsay just don't seem to care. And I really do believe it's time for Mel to kick Lindsay's ass to the curb. I mean Mel doesn't even know about the conversation Lindsay had with Gus about having kids. All that was was Lindsay's way of still trying to have a piece of Brian.

Why would she even ask about using his vacation home? Mel would pull her teeth out before doing that. It would be like accepting charity from Brian. We know she'd never ever do that.

I love Ted. At work and with the family. What he said to Lindsay was completely innocent, yet she went ballistic. She is not a happy camper.

Gus is wise for his age and it was nice that he offered to go to Deb's and let Brian and Justin recoup. Can't wait for him to meet Share Ryan. Brian's so cute when he's jealous.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for very insigtful comments!  I'm delighted you liked this chapter!

The relationship between Brian and Gus is an amazing one.  And with Brian's honesty, and never being afraid of speaking his mind or living his life the way HE decides, I can imagine that he would nuture an open and honest relationsip with his son.

Michael, well, he's still an interesting character!   I'm not "Michael bashing", yet I'll say he needs a bit more maturing to do :)

I'm glad you liked Jenny's awesome Cristmas present!

I'm so thrilled to hear that you picked up on the dynamic of Lindsay still wanting to hang on to a piece of Brian.  And about the vacation home?  I agree with you about how Mel would have reacted!  Probably the reason Lindsay approced Brian solo.

Yes, Ted is a great guy in this story.  The poor guy had such good intentions, and nearly got his head bit off for it.

Gus does have a lot of wisdom for his young years, and I believe that this situation he witnessed, added to his maturity and comprehension, viewing things more from an adult perspective.

Regarding Shane...well...I can't give away TOO much, but we weill defintely be seeing the nice young man again ;)

great chapter.  Glad the mystery of who sent the DVD was solved.  Seems like kind of a thoughtless thing for Daphne to do without calling first.  Curious about Shane and if we will hear more from him.  Enjoying your story a lot!!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your supportive feedback!

I think Dapne had sincere intentions towards her friend when she sent the DVD, and because Justin had lost all memories of the prom for many years, she likely didn't give much thougt to sending the package.  She'll be the one surprised now when she hears the story about Justin's total memory recall! :)

Shane is one of the good-guys (thankfully), and we'll start seeing more of him, but I can't give too much away...yet ;)

Wow, so much happening.  Why is Lindsey so insistant about Gus having children?  Something screwy going on there.  When Justin got the DVD, my first thought was the guy Shane.  Though I couldn't understand his motive.  It was a good thing that Ted was with him and had some idea what was happening.  It also gave Gus a chance to see how bad a panic attack could be.  Then in the end to find out that it was Daphne!  She couldn't put a return address on the envelope?  Hope Mel isn't playing mind games with JR like Lindsey is with Gus.  Want more asap.

Author's Response:

This was another busy chapter, to be sure :)

Maybe Lindsay is still looking for her 'white-picket-fence' world, imagining having grandchildren.?  If so, it's overshadowing the here-and-now, to the extent of Gus' future and what HE wants.  We can never tell what she or Mel might do next :)

I believe that Dapne's intentions were genuine, and she probably was simply being absentminded when she forgot to put a return address label on the package.

Indeed, it was a very good thing Ted was present when Justin had a panic attack!  And Gus gained another level of understanding witnessing both the panic attack, and how his father took care of his papa.

We're going to see more of Shane...in a positive, life affirming way :)

Thank you so much for reading and commenting!!  I deeply appreciate your continuing support and encouragment!

Aw. Poor Justin. But Brian is taking good care of hime and he now knows Brian loved him way back then.

As for the "moms." My god. Mel is a cold bitch but at least what you see is what you get. Lindsay is much worse because she's insane and doing/saying everything so calmly makes me what to do violent things to her. Heh Heh. Yeah.

Author's Response:

Loved your comment, especially the part about Lindsay :)  Gus' moms are indeed...unique.  She and Mel are more driven by their own individual feelings or emotions, and sometimes by their own agenda.  Unfortunately, they don't really think a lot of things through first to contemplate the consequences.  It's the classic, they-act-before-they-think, type of thing.

Yep, the Kinney men always take wonderful care of one another!  I'm glad that Justin can now look at Brian with a deeper appreciation, and undoubtedly, a more profound love.

Thank you bunches for reading and for commenting!  Both are so very, very appreciated!!

Author's Response:

This was indeed an emotional and intense chapter!  Gus is improving well, having had so much thrown at him at such a young age.  And yes, his dads are quite involved with his life, which only reassures and strengthens him in a positive way.  Mel and Lindsay are a different matter, though, to be sure.

Wonderful chapter, just wonderful...

Please...please...please let Gus go live with his dad's soon. Mel and Lindz have zero clue that they are really hendering his recovery with all their negative bullshit. What does it take to get it through their thick skulls that what they are doing is not helping. Kudos to Brian and Justin for pulling things together for Gus and just being the awesome dad's they are.

Keep up the good work my friend.

Btw...I hope my comment doesn’t seem pushy or demanding because you as the author are in complete control of the story and it is not my intention to try and influence the plot one way or another ;)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much my dear for your feedback!!  You are not at all being pushy or demanding.  Quite hte contrary!  I find your continued responses very toughtful and encouraging!!   Showing your support is so greatly appreciated, and I'm thrilled to know you're enjoying the story!

Defintely, the two women have a need for parenting lessons.  Luckily, though, Gus is almost 18, and now in his senior year of high scool.  I'm certain some changes for all 4 parents will cause a ruckus when he graduates!

Brian and Justin are wonderful fathers.  They're human and make mistakes, but they also often think things through and try to put their son's needs ahead of their own.

Thank you once again for reading and commenting! :)

Just love a protective, sneaky, organized Brian. So glad to see Gus with Brian and Justin - who better to take care of him during his healing. At least most of the family agreed. Mel and Lindsay need to get their heads on straight or have their heads 'knocked two-ways to Sunday'. Selfish bitches. And Mel's whole 'toughen up' attitude - I just wanted to slap her - although Lindsay attitude wasn't any better. The kids are better of with their fathers. Well at least 3 of the 4 - not sure if Michael should ever be left alone with JR for too long - not necessarily the best role model.

Author's Response:

I know, right?!  I like how Brian can be soft spoken, and outwardly appear calm, cool, and collected, and simultaneously be a clever-devil :)

I think with Jennifer, Justin's mom, having been through a similar situation with her son, she was able to be the most insightful when talking with Mel and Lindsay about Gus recooperating in New York with his dads; and the rest of the family supported it.

Mel and Lindsay are indeed two unique women!  Unfortunately, I can't picture Mel as an affectionate or huggy mother.  And as we saw on the show, she does tend to have angry outbursts.  I also had the same "I just want to slap her", thoughts you did! :)

Micael as some growing-up to do, but I tink tere will be a future situation were e will be forced to do so, for te outcome to be positive.  e does indeed need to work on being a more positive influence.

Thank you, very much, for your wonderful, detailed feedback, and for your continued support and encouragement!!  I appreciate them immensely!!

What a wonderful chapter.  It was nice to see that Gus was improving and that the family was behind Brian and Justin being the ones who he recuperated with.  I dearly loved how they relied on Ben's help rather then Michaels.  In fact if Jenny had to stay with just Michael, I'd be worried for her mental health.  He's almost as bad as Melanie.  Can Mel and Lindz be trusted to be good parents to JR. once Gus is 18?   Look forward to the continueing saga!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  I greatly appreciate your continuing support and perceptive feedback!  They are so encouraging!

With Brian and Justin, Gus is able to be himself, and be free of any criticism or added stress.  And undoubtedly, both his dads are very involved and go above-and-beyond to ensure his wellbeing.

I like how Ben can be level-eaded and determinedly protective of J.R., and the family sees this, too.  I agree...Micahel doesn't have the innate skills or nuture to always be helpful to his daughter, altough he means well.   But I have a feeling that the time will come when he will HAVE to step-up and cange that.

Gus is about to turn 18, so that will likely create a few more issues with Mel and Lindsay :)

The next chapter will be posted soon.  I'm delighted you are enjoying and reading the story!!

Great long chapter with so much going on. Such a shame for Gus & JR to have scuh clueless slefish mothers. Wonderful story!! I'm always happy to see an update. Bill

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Bill, for your continued, encouraging feedback and support!

Yeah, I like doing the longer chapters, and fit more information in there :)  When I posted the prequel to this story, (To Be, Or Not To Be), I tended to leave cliffhangers, but decided against it this time becuse the story is so much longer and has deeper emotional situations.  I hope you lovely readers don't mind :)

In my opinion, I think Mel and Lindsay's characters tended to be a little more 'self-based' on the show, so I decided to expound on that here.  I remember times (on the show) when Mel was more concerned about the fact that she was Gus' parent, rather than getting the true gravity of different situations.  But, that's just my opinion.

Thanks for reading!  I'm thrilled you are enjoying the story!!  More to come soon!

This was really a tough read, but I am glad that Gus has woken up and trying to interact with his family. I do have the feeling though that during Gus’s recovery the girls will try to make the decision that Gus shouldn't leave Canada....even for college (that's still a possibility for him right?) Well hopefully everyone keeps their priorities in order.

Author's Response:

I usually try not to do such emotionally-charged, sad chapters, but there will be very positive things in Gus' future :)

Gus' moms are definately not pleased with the aspect of Gus moving away, but he is growing up.  His moms sometimes forget who they're dealing with in Brian Kinney!

I agree, it was very sad.  Due to how emotional it was, I thought it would be too cruel of me to leave it with a cliffhanger.  With Gus waking up, things will start to improve for him :)

Okay, so I was thinking about Gus and his video diary, and then his internship. What is he planning on studying in college? Maybe he might turn his video diary into a small documentary, and apply to film school in NY. I don't know if you like it, it's just a thought?

One more chapter before I'm all caught up...

Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Thank you so much hon for your continued, supportive and encouraging feedback!  I appreciate it so much!!

I like your idea of Gus writing a documentary.  I've actually had some thoughts about that along those lines, but with a little twist.  That subject might get a little more interesting later on in the story ;)  Currently in the story, Gus told his dads he wanted to do a double major...one in Photography, and one in Advertising.  Since he interned at Kinnetik, combined with the years of being around Marketing and Advertising with Brian and Justin, he seems to have taken a liking to it!

I'm delighted you're liking the story!!

Poor Gus. He's going to be so broken when he learns about Connor.

And wow. Michael will always think of Brian as number one, isn't he? Not even Ben and JR can topple that. He pouts because JR went to the hospital and his concern is for Brian, not his own daughter. He'd rather stay with Brian (not Gus) instead of supporting JR at Connor's funeral even though Justin and Lindsay are there with Brian. I know he's not a bad guy in this fic, but he's still rather childish.

Author's Response:

Yes, Gus will be heartbroken.  He's got a very supportive family, particularly with his dads, and they will help him get through it :)

I'm glad you caught the part about Michael.  I'm not attempting to write anti-Micael, yet there always seemed to be a part of him that never really was able to let go of Brian, 100%.  It might not surface in every situation, but it does appear at times! He definately should have gone to Connor's funeral, but it was likely one of those times where he believed that HE had to be there for Brian.  I think that with how bad Gus' condition was at the time, Brian wasn't in the mood to argue the point with him.

Author's Response:

I'm so happy you liked this chapter, although it was a sad one.

Yes, Gus has had a lot to deal with in his young life.  He has 2 dads who have been through some hard times in their own lives, and I'm certain they will be a great help to him.  I'm not anti-Mel or Lindsay, but neither one have experienced the type of life-altering situations that Justin and Brian have both experienced at different times in their lives.

I'm enjoying reading Gus' point of view of his dads and the way they do things. Such a good example to set - pity the girls don't have a clue. Even in the show the girls tended to put their own needs before their kids. Brian certainly gave it to the principal - in spades.... for a school that does a program twice a year to encourage tolerance it a shame the principal isn't putting the teaching into practice. Great chapter - eagerly waiting for more.....

Author's Response:

Thanks bunches for your supportive feedback!  I wanted to put  a lot of Gus' thougths and behaviors into this story to relate to how he grows from a teenager into a young man, and why he makes some of the decisions he does in his life.

I'm glad you liked the part with Brian and the principal!  When it comes to his son, particularly, he certainly will always stand up for him!  I'm especially thrilled to see you picked up on the aspect of where in some situations, even in schools where tolerance and acceptance is taught, there will always be those in charge who don't "practice what they preach", so to speak.  Unfortunately, we sadly still see that dynamic in society.

I'm delighted you're enjoying the story, and I thoroughly appreciate your comments!

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading!  I'm so very happy that you are enjoying this story, and liked the capter!! :)

Yes, I think that Justin, and the doctor, would like for Brian to stop smoking, but we all know how independent Brian Kinney is!  (I'm recalling the scene in QAF, following Brian's radiation treatments for cancer, when he's in the doctor's office having a check-up, and he asks the doctor when he can resume taking his recreational drugs again.)  Brian generally takes care of his health, eats right and excercises regularly, but I think that alcohol and cigarettes are 2 things he's not yet ready to quit.

What a wonderful long chapter. I really feel for those two kids. Gus is a great big brother. I understand why Mel's is so pissed off with Lindsay - being cheated on for a year would definitely make me go for blood. Pity that in her anger and Lindsay's selfish behaviour that they both have forgotten their kids. I could go off on a rant - it's all going on in my head - about both of them - but instead I'll wait and read what you have in store for us next.

I think Brian and Justin have a unique insight as parents that Ben, Michael, Lindsay, or Mel, don't have...they want to be the type of supportive fathers they never had, and want Gus to know they will always be there for him.

Oh please say the the kids get to go live with their fathers. Mel and Lindsay clearly can't get their shit together and keep it in order....the kids need safety and stability...not medication to deal with the bullshit.

Author's Response:

I know, right?!  Mel and Linds have a shitload to work through, regardless of wich way their relationship turns out.

Luckily, both of Gus' and J.R.'s fathers are there to intervene, and we know they at least have the best interest of their children at heart.  Legally, Mel and Linds are still the kids' parents, so that will be an interesting obsticle for both sets of dads to deal with.

I can't get enough of this story. I hope we get to view parts of Gus's 5 year video journal while Brian and Justin learn about it. Gus can't leave his sister in that horrible house - both sets of fathers need to pack up their kids and bring them home. It's my guess neither Mel or Lindsey would give a damn.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  It's wonderful to hear how much you are enjoying this story!!

Yep, later on in the story, Gus' video journal will come into play, and will have a major affect on his family.

It's a fantastic thing that Gus and J.R. have their dads in their lives, and that Brian and Justin take just as much interest in J.R.'s wellbeing as they do with Gus'.

Mel and Lindsay have made some bad decisions, so it's hard to see at this point in what direction their relationship will turn when more secrets are revealed.

The plot thickens. Lovely long chapter - must admit I did take a longer lunch hour then I should have - well I had to finish the chapter didn't I.......LOL

Lindsay's not going to talk her way out of this one - too much harm has been done. I hate to see any family break up but Mel should dump her - a year long affair, stressing Gus out to the point of needing drugs, stressing her out to the point of excessive drinking. At least Mel is getting her act together and showed she does care about JR - pity Lindsay couldn't to the same. Gus definitely needs to be with his dads. Michael, of course, needs a 'chill pill'.

Author's Response:

I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed this capter!  I hope you didn't get in trouble at work for taking a longer lunch hour :)

Quite a lot of drama still going on within the family.  Mel and Lindsay failed to realize that whatever choices or actions they produce, affects everyone around them, like a ripple affect.  It seems they individually let things get too out of hand.  Let's hope that with the intervention of Brian, Justin, Ben, and Michael, a positive solution for the kids will be the end result.  Michael does tend to lose his cool and often speaks before he thinks.  His heart is in the right place, but he needs to learn to 'chill' a little bit :)  Thankfully, he as 'Zen Ben' there to help!

Thank you immensely for your support and feedback!

I'm glad Justin got the show. It helps to keep the creative juices flowing and if there really is a problem with any campaign I'm sure he'll be willing to help.
Brian's idea of having Gus intern is a great idea. The faster he's out of that house the faster he'll get off all those meds.
Lindsay hooking up with a guy. Not surprising.

This is a wonderful story. I especially like Brian's relationships with both Gus and Justin. It's as it should be. Great job.

Author's Response:

Justin defintely has a very creative mind, and even though he does artwork for Kinnetik every day, I too think that continuing with his painting and doing art shows periodically, is a marvelous and positive outlet for his ingenous creativity.

I think that when Gus spends the summer with his dads, he will indeed flourish, and hopefully, be able to get off the medication.

Yeah, we're seeing a little deja vu with Lindsay again.

Damn Mel and Lindsay sure are good examples of bad parenting... Poor Gus needing meds to just cope with daily life...

Moving to NY and doing an internship with his dads is a great idea, an even better one is him moving there permanently...

Maybe JR should also move in with her dads, it would allow her time to get to really know them... Then of course Mel and Lindsay can try and repair their marriage, or decide to end it once and for all...

Great update as always...

Hugs Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Indeed...quite a lot of discovery going on in this capter!  A bit more angst and furter discovery in the next chapter, too, but it will all start coming to fruition, as well.

I think with Gus spending the summer with his dads in NY, he will thrive and grow.

I am delighted to have your continued support, and as always, I'm thrilled you are enjoying the story, hon!!

Wow!  What a chapter.  It seems to me that it's time the fathers took over raising their children since the mothers can't seem to get their act together enough to do it.  Love all the information you've provided in this nice long chapter.  Thank you.

Author's Response:

Definately a lot going on with the intertwined families!  Mel and Linds have some issues to work out, as their relationsip together, and with their children, is a bit shakey right now.

I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying the story, and the long chapters ;)

Thank you very much for commenting and your support!  Greatly appreciated!!

Wow, lots going on in this chapter.  Mel and Linds are really screwed up! Can't wait for the next chapter.  Great story.

Author's Response:

The chapter was definately full of action :)  We'll find out a little more about Mel and Linds in the next one, too.

Thanks so much for your supportive feedback!  So glad to hear you are enjoying the story!!

Such an exciting story. Nice long chapters, the boys in love. I never want to stop reading..
Mel's not a happy camper. Maybe she should go live with whomever was on the phone. Seems like she's trying to play the woe is me pity card.
Loved how Brian handled Gardner. Yes, Ted definitely deserves a raise.
Glad Justin was willing to delegate. But yeah, Brian never told him what to do before. Gus is so wise at times.
There's more I want to say and I did comment on the last chapter, but it's too early in the morning for more.
Just update soon. Can't wait for whatever Mel's up to to come out. Looks like Gus may be living in NY before college.

Author's Response:

I'm delighted to know you're enjoying the story!!  The next chapter will be posted soon.

There are some issues with Lindsay and Mel, to be sure.  We'll discover more about what they are shortly.

Althoug Brian has never tried to dictate to Justin in the past, I think his frustration, combined with his worry for Justin, compelled him to say what he did.  Yes, Gus is an insightful young man, and both his dads have very distinctive personalities, so he was able to read them well in that situation.

Thank you so much for reading and for your supportive comments, they are both immensely appreciated!

What is Mel's problem?  I wonder if she IS having an affair.  Both she and Lindsay sure terrible parents!  Neither of them even acted nurturing with the two sick kids!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reading and for your feedback!  I greatly appreciate it!!

A lot is going on with Mel and Lindsay and we'll learn more about what it is in the next cahpter :)

I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the story.  More will be posted soon.

Wow so much going on in this chapter. Thank goodness Deb and Carl could get to Toronto for the kids. Lindsay and Mel obviously do have something weird going on and I look forward to finding out what it is

Author's Response:

It was a busy chapter, to be sure :)  Deb and Carl are indeed devoted grandparents.  We'll have to wait, though, to discover what's been going on with Mel and Lindsay.

Another addiction? An affair? Ooh imagine Mel actually having an affair with a man, now that would be very interesting...

Where will you take us next? I can't wait for more...

Hugs Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Thanks greatly for commenting, my dear!  There are definately some things brewing in this chapter ;)  Indeed, Mel having an affair with a man would be VERY interesting!

I can't give away too much ahead of time, but there are going to be some interesting curves in the road for several of the characters.

This is now becoming my favorite story after PA Boi's.  You may make us wait, but you give us action.  Poor Gus being sick and having to deal with it alone, then JR comes down with it and he has to help with her.  Good that Deb and Carl are there.  Why is Lindsay delibrately trying to push the blame on Brian?  Is it so that Melanie won't blame her?  It is mean of her to do so.  As much as Gus wants to move back to Pitts permanently I don't think he'll leave JR to the mercy of the moms.  What is Melanie's problem now, if it's not drinking?

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for your encouraging feedback!!  I'm delighted you are enjoying the story!!

There were a lot of different angles going on at once in this capter.  Yes, it's defintely a good thing Deb and Carl were there for the kids, and we know that Deb will stand up to the two moms, which is a good thing in this situation.

You've mentioned some excellent and very on-point observations!  Those very things are all going to be brought to light, but we'll have to wait until the next chapter  :)

Thanks greatly for reading and commenting!!

There is so much going on here I don't know where to start. First off, what kind of mother doesn't take care of their kid when they're sick? Thank goodness for Carl and Debbie. I have the same thoughts as Justin does about Mel having an affair. If she isn't having an affair, then she is doing something underhanded to keep everyone away from the kids.

Please update soon ;)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reading!!

I think Deb and Carl are caring and concerned Grandparents.  Grandma's and Grandpa's usually turn into big softies whenever it comes to their grandkids!

In Justin's litlle drama-queen moment, he MIGHT be on to something...

I greatly appreciate your feedback!!  Thank you!! :)

Poor Justin - still having to deal with physical stuff - I have enough trouble with RSI in my right thumb from working on the computer - RA would be devastating for an artist.

What is it with those two women - leaving such sick kids at home, even if they are teenagers - okay once they're over the vomiting and fever I could leave them for a few hours if I had to work but I would be checking on them constantly. No way would I leave kids in that condition - Deb has every right to be so angry. The boys need to get there and find out what's going on. I'm going to be greedy and ask for the next chapter please.

Author's Response:

I feel for Justin, too.  Brian is remaining his stalwalt, though his frustration and strong desire to help can come across brusque at times :)  But we know they'll always learn how to manage, and they'll always have each other to to rely on!  (I can sympathize with the RSI and the RA.  Unfortunately, both can strike at any time and at any age.)

I think Lindsay and Mel are in a pickle...and we'll find out soon precisely what that is :)  Currently, they're both so wrapped up in their issues, they've developed a 'blind-eye' to things around them.  It's a good thing that Debbie is a devoted, and boisterous, grandma!  She's not afraid to confront whatever it is she feels needs to be, and does it head-on.

I appreciate your feedback immensely!  Thank you so much for reading and commenting!!  I will update soon :)

Great chapter.  Mel should know better than to go up against Debbie.  Can't wait to see what happens next.

Absolutely!  Mel should know better :)

This should be interesting, I'm not sure if I'm rooting for Mel and Lindsay to succeed, or fail... I think the kids need to live with their fathers, and let the girls work on themselves and their relationship... It's always been rocky, and kids only added to all the stress...

Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

I wholeheartedly agree with you, my dear!  There are certin situations upcoming in the plotline, though, that develop from Gus and J.R. returning home to live with their moms.  It was the reason why, at least for now, they are still living there.  It was someting I debated, but, hopefully everything will all gel together later on :)

You're right about Mel and Linds, their relationsip always did appear rocky, and they yelled and argued in front of Gus quite a bit.  They have quite a bit to work on in their relationsip now, too.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that the kids will be able to one day soon, live with their respective dads.

Thank you so very much for reading and for your feedback!!  It's greatly encouraging!!

Great chapter, very well written.

This is how I imagine Brian and Justin would really act as fathers to Gus.

I don't trust Mel. This all seems like an act she would put on just to get everyone off her back.

Author's Response:

Thanks so very much for your encouraging words!  I'm delighted you're enjoying the story!!

Mel is certainly an interesting character, and I'm sure we've not heard the last from her ;)

I kind of feel bad for saying that I'm a bit disappointed that Brian wouldn’t allow Gus to live with them at the present...waiting until after graduation seems so far away. I know it's for the best though.

Author's Response:

I totally understand what you're saying!  I, too, struggled with that aspect of the story.  But, (without giving out any spoilers), there are situations and events that will arise later on that will coincide and 'play-off-of' the fact of Gus, and J.R., too, returning to their moms in Toronto.  There is much more angst on the horrizon. :)

Thank you for reading, and I greatly appreciate your feedback!!

More will be posted soon ;)

So JR is afraid of Mel because Mel hit her, but it's all Brian's fault. Right. Hopefully therapy will open her eyes that not everything in life if Brian's (the family scapegoat's) fault and she needs to take responsibility for her own actions. For a lawyer, she sure doen't deal well with facts, at least when it comes to her own life.

Author's Response:

Beautifully said!!  Unfortunately, Mel always did seem to have a hair-trigger response whenever it came to Brian.  Even in the show, she hated the fact that Brian was Gus' father.  Sad.  Let's hope the therapy works and she can at least find balance and some semblence of self-control when dealing with Brian and Gus, but especially with J.R.

I greatly appreciate your comment!!  Thank you so much for reading :)

So much happening.  Christmas shopping was funny with Brian and Justin going out of their way to do what the thought Gus wanted.  Will Melanie be able to change?  Only time will tell.  Great chapter.

Author's Response:

Action is happening everywhere :)  I'm glad you liked the humorous Christmas shopping trip with the three Kinney men!  Next, we'll have to find out how Mel is progressing.
