QAF Brian and Justin Fanfiction

You've manage to word the feeling that I hoped Brian would have and almost get him to reveal them.  Isn't there some sort of compromise, other than sending Justin back to New York, that they can make?  That dream has to mean something.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the compliment! Sometimes it can be hard to write Brian "true" and also give him valid emotions/etc. :D

...we'll see what happens next!

Stupid, selfish, Brian making decisions for Justin again without a care for any outcome but what he wants.

Author's Response:

Brian is being very selfish. I agree!

Thank you for reading! :)

Please don't let Justin go away again without having defined his relationship with Brian! I think Justin knows what Brian he's doing and he shoud make him understand that it is not necessary to shut him off of his life!
PS Anyway I find your stories really beautiful, I like the way you write, you really have talent!

Author's Response:

Thank you for the lovely compliment :)

I shall be updating soon - so you won't have to wait too long to see what happens next!

Thanks for reading! :)

Thanks, this is a terrific story.  At first I wanted Justin to go to Brian.  It was the right thing to do, but now, it is time for Justin to leave.  If I could, I would like to kick Brian’s butt, sometimes we just have to let things develop.

Brian, in a way, is sending Justin back to New York.  Is that what is good for Justin?  I am talking about Justin here, not Brian.  I so wanted Justin to speak up and tell Brian how he feels and what is happening in New York.  It sure doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

So – ok, let them do what they are going to do.  Eventually they both will find out what is really happening and what is best.  But for now – a little suffering is ok.

    Again, thanks for the story.

    DavidR

Author's Response:

Brian is being frustratingly and ridiculously and overly harsh to Justin, but he does think everything he's doing is for Justin's own good, as well as his own.

They sure do have a hard time communicating with one another though!

I appreciate your comments greatly, and thank you so much for reading! :)

Brian and his darn complex! Does Brian realise that pushing Justin to 'live his life' is interferring in his life?

Justin should just do his own thing and head back to Pittsburgh, get an apartment, a studio, get a job, finish his studies, make some connections before he heads off since he knows now what he will meet.In NY he doesn't even have a studio, how is he painting?

Just do things on his terms and not be pushed into NY. When he is ready he will head back.  what will Brian do then?

Author's Response:

Brian isn't the most rational when it's Justin and his heart on the line. He's being frustratingly difficult, I know!

Thank you for reading and commenting! :)

Yeah.. I agree with TheWickedStepmother's coment. Justin should just go back to NY and let Brian to tend all the problems by himself as he usually thinks he does, eventhough deep inside his heart, he needs Justin by his side.

and if he does really need Justin, let him beg for it..

poor Justin, always has been pushed off Mt Kinney.. my heart goes out to him..

Author's Response:

The saga of Brian and Justin. Brian can't seem to stop being an idiot and it's very frustrating for me, too!

Thank you for reading and commenting :)

It looks like life is getting back to normal, or as near as, for most of the family. I hope Justin gets on with his life if Brian continues with his martyr complex. Sorry but it really annoys me when (in some ways) Brian doesn’t seem to have evolved at all since they met. I love your writing and as you can see I am quite involved in your fic so please keep it coming.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Oh Brian. He's being such a dork and a dumbass. Believe me it's rough for me, too :D

I really hope that Justin goes back to New York. Brian is an idiot and a coward. Sure, it's a hard time, but it's obvious that both are still in love.... *sigh*

Great update!

Ahhhhh, I didn't want to read this story, wasn't in the mood for angst.  I avoided it, but then, in a moment of curiosity, I took a peek and it sucked me in.  I'm now addicted.

Well done, very enjoyable read.  Looking forward to seeing this through.

All the best,

Laura

Author's Response:

This story is so sad, but I can't stop reading it.  The question is will Lindsay get better?  Will Michael wise up?  Will Justin be staying?  I hope so, but whatever way you go with it, I'll be reading.

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading!! Even though it is a sad, angsty tale. I am trying to lighten things up a bit (or as much as I can) in the upcoming chapters!

I’m glad Gus knows about his mama and I hope he can understand, but kids normally keep asking where their loved one is; so Brian may still have to console him at times. Poor Justin you would think at a time like this Michael would just let people be. What’s wrong with the guy??? Woe is me Brian needs to think of the other side of the equation. He just wants Justin to be happy; well maybe he would be if they were together. Brian could have kept up a long distant relationship as that has nothing to do with Justin’s work being recognised. I love this chapter because of the emotions it invokes. Great update.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Yeah, Gus is going to have a little while to figure out why his mama is gone. :( Poor kid.

REally enjoying the story-  I hope Justin doesn't give up on Brian and let him throw him over the cliff.

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading! And don't worry, but now Justin doesn't give up very easily now that the "L" word has been spoken...it'll take more than a cold shoulder and harsh words to make him turn away from Brian :)

Very sweet. Brian needs to let Justin take care of him - too bad he can only allow it when he's completely trashed. Typical, though. TAG

This is one of those times where I’m practically speechless. There was so much raw emotion going on in this chapter. Brian was suffering as much as Lindsay and Gus. He had been so strong for everyone; he was bound to break at some point.

Please update soon.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for the comment!

This chapter was hard to write because it is so tragically sad. I think we've neared the lowest point for everyone and the angst should ease up slightly...hopefully! We shall see.

Such a poignant chapter, between the scene with Lindsay, Brian, and Gus, the part where Justin draws on Gus's cast to try and calm him, and the ending scene.  So much emotion captured here.  Really enjoying your story and all the angst.  Looking forward to the rest, Michelle, and so glad you decided to post over here.:)

This story has been gripping since the prologue. I anxiously read each sentence never knowing what’s going to happen next and not quite sure what underlying thing has occurred. I see that the gang feels that Brian and Justin had broken up.

The hospital scenes are touching. It is plain how much Brian loves Lindsay and how important she is to him. I loved the line about Brian wanting to keep all of them safe. It was also interesting that Brian felt somehow responsible for everything.

Thank you for reading and for commenting! I really appreciate it :D

Really glad Justin knew better. Michael really needs to butt out of their relationship no matter what he thinks or feels about it.
Very hard for Brian to have to tell Lindsay what's going on with her.
He's been holding up so well that with Justin there he has every right to let go with him.
Great chapter.

I’m so pleased Justin took matters into his own hands and went to Toronto; and I love the fact he did it for Brian. You have to love Debbie as to her Justin will always be part of their family. Thank you for the quick updates and although you already had them written I hope RL still allows you to update regularly.

Cheers

I’m pleased to see Brian is taking care of Gus and also Melanie’s arrangements. Justin really needs to be included, even if it’s just for Lindsay now. I think you are doing a great job so far of making this different to other fics and I love it when an author goes back and forth as it keeps the story line fresh in your memory.

Cheers

Reviewer: sophie'smom (Anonymous) · Date: March 10, 2013 07:15 AM · On: World Spins Madly On

What's happening with Lindsay? You say Brian is now a full time parent. Is that because Lindsay dies or paralyzed and in a rehab facility? Brian is planning to stay in Toronto but why at the hospital? Think it would be easier for Gus to be home with his own things. I can't believe he doesn't want Justin there or right now not want to have anything to do with him.

Author's Response:

Chapter 1 revealed Lindsay's fate, as we know it so far; this chapter actually flashes back in time to before Lindsay wakes up and after the doctor tells Brian, Michael and Ben that Melanie has died. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for reading!

Does a unique plot every exist?  So far you are presently this one beautifully, and I look forward to new chapters as t0he story unfolds.  Looks like we got a long way to go.  So much to do, and I sure conflicts and other difficulties are on the way.

Yes, I did get a little confused with the back and forth in time.  My fault tho.  I thought Brian had already called Justin.  No matter, I got it now.  I think Justin should pack his back and get his butt to Toronto and now.  Brian needs him, and so does Gus.    Thanks for the chapters, and thanks in advance what looks like a terrific story.

    DavidR

Author's Response:

:) true - every story is a derivative of something else. Thanks for the comment, and thank you for reading!

I worried the timeline switch-a-roo would be confusing...I hope not too much, though. It seemed the logical way, for me, to begin the story. But don't worry, there shouldn't be any more time jumps after this chapter :)

So nice to see how Brian is focused on Gus.  I'd think he'd better tell Justin soon because I'm sure Justin will get the wrong idea if he doesn't.  I'll just have to wait for more on this to see how you handle it.  :)

I have read a few fics that start this way; where Brian gets custody of Gus because of a car accident and I have read so many rewrites of other people’s ideas lately, so I was pleased to see you have a slightly different take and didn’t kill off both parents. I love original fics so I hope to see your new ideas moving forward. I hope Brian allows Justin to go to Toronto soon; even if it is just to mourn his friend.

Cheers

Author's Response:

It's hard to come up with an original fic for certain fandoms (QAF certainly being one of them!), so I hope what I have planned is new and interesting enough to keep you reading!

"He thought he’d been scared when Justin had been bashed but the thought of losing Gus was infinitely worse; paralyzing even."

There's nothing like the fear of losing a child.

This chapter had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I was just as curious to find out what happend to Mel and Lindsay as I was to Brian's and Justin's relationship. I don't understand what is going on with that. Why are they not communicating?

Author's Response:

I'm not a parent, so I can only imagine the feeling, but yes, losing a child has to be the worst fear a parent could have.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting! :)

This looks like it is going to be a terrific story.  You have a wonderful writing style; the words flow smoothly, the descriptions detailed.

I don’t know what is going to go on next, but it can’t be good for Brian, etc.  Not that I think it will happen, but Brian needs Justin and now.  I hope, but I doubt, that Justin will have enough insight to pack his bags and go to Toronto, and not listen to Brian telling him to stay in New York.

As far as when you post new chapters -- whatever.  I am not going anywhere, and will be here to read them.

   Thanks for the chapter.

So happy to see the next part!  Once a week is a lot better than me, so don't worry - ha!  I like the way you've gotten into Brian's head here; how he is warring with his need to be with Justin versus his fear of being hurt if he leaves him.  And I love fics that show Brian being loving and tender with his son; you could always see that on the show, and I noticed the way his whole demeanor changed when he was with Gus.

I really enjoy the way that you write; thanks for agreeing to post on here; I'll be looking forward to your updates.:) *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Yes, Brian can be tender and loving; we saw it certainly with Gus, a few times with Justin and Lindsay, and once or twice with Michael. It's my favorite thing - to get beneath that mask he wears to the emotion.
