Sounds like Brian's having a hard time convincing himself...so it goes with Justin. ;)

Are you still writing and posting this fantastic story? I really, really want more...even if two and a half years have intervened.

Excellent, entertaining start to this AU Brian and Justin!

LOL, fantastic humor with the 3 doors and Justin's imagination. ;)

i love your justin! and brian's inner monologues are great. more sometime? pretty please?  i've ended up reading this a bunch of times since it's so hard to find anything where justin's even a little bit sporty, let alone in a sport i actually like (like football).

I love your justin! I always wish there were more athletic justin fics around, and this one's great. I can't wait to see more :)

ARRRRGH!!! For some reason, my computer is not picking up all my keys when I type on this site. I usually check and forgot this time.

Anyway, thank you for the locker room pic. I have it copied along with the others. YUM! I also did some research on Mario Gomez. I had to find out more about that cutie. He is very brave on taking his stance on coming out about homosexually in sports. He’s just as gorgeous as brave. I was disheartened to read about the tragic end of two players who did come out. I’m praying that the world can be more accepting soon. I’m happy that more actors are coming out to at least pave some of the way.

Living in the states, I don’t know much about soccer other than Victoria Beckham and a show I use to watch religiously called the Footballer’s Wives years ago. After looking at Gomez, I may have to find out more.

Author's Response:

Mario is lovely but I found his comments a little naïve, his captain for club and country Philipp Lahm responded to the same question (put forward by Bunt magazine I think) in a less idealistic but I think more realistic way (which he seems to be constantly mis-quoted on) by saying he couldn't recommend coming out, as a player would face substantial abuse. The problem is that soccer support is passed from one generation to another in most cases, it is something you are born into which means that out of a fifty-thousand person stadium a large percentage will hold an outdated belief system, young kids are brought to the stadium and exposed to what can be a cauldron of hatred and it is seen as acceptable. Ouroboros. Bigotry is rife in the beautiful game making it equally ugly. But then you get teams and players with whom the term 'bromance' was made for and it makes it a little bit better.

I never saw Footballerss Wives but I remember it being on, it was an ITV show if I remember correctly. One show I would recommend if you can find it anywhere is an old Channel 4 production The Book Group, it starred Anne Dudek as an American who starts up a book group when she moves to Glasgow. Three of the members are footballer's wives and another is a stereotypical Glasweigan football supporter who ends up having an affair with one of their husbands(it's not Channel 4 unless someone's getting their gay on). But as for actual footballing things I can recommend a few; The Art of Football Von A bis Z mit John Cleese is quite good, Being: Liverpool was a documentary series about Liverpool FC last year from Fox Soccer - it gives a good view of the behind the scenes innerworkings of a club, or alternatively check out the youtube channel of Manchester City FC, Deutschland ein Sommermärchen was a documentary following the German national team at the World Cup in 2006 in Germany (if you can download the full movie via youtube and sync it up with the fanmade English subtitles it is worth a watch). And of course there are lots of random videos you can find on youtube.

Sorry for the overload lol.

"Thanks Cyn, efficient as always."

I love your humor and your way with words.

You did a nice partal coming out scene. I felt sorry for Justin's whol family. Even Molly was being neglected.

I was again pleasantly surprised that Justin wasn't head over heels in love with Brian. Another nice change.

Please continue with the pictures at the end of the chapter. :)

Author's Response:

It's good to know my early education in the great Scottish art of deprecation is at last paying off.

Okay, so here's the thing; like I mentioned...somewhere, at some point, I have really tried to do my research for this. As much as I love soccer it has its downfalls, two players in the history of the game have ever came out while playing, one in 1990 was ostracised and ended up killing himself (this is me making a really long story short) and the other came out about two years ago and plays for a really low league team in Sweden so not exactly high profile (yet it made worldwide news). I'm going to ignore the latter in this 'verse, so that makes one. A huge influence on this fic is an interview with an anonymous gay player in the German Bundesliga. In my mind Justin is more focused on not being publicly outed than he is on Brian. I know that was a really long and round-about way of getting to a fucking point and I really hope it made sense.

I think the pictures will keep coming, the thing is that I have tried to at least make them relevant to something I've said and I don't know if I'll always be able to do that. I mean, what excuse is there to use a clip of Holger Badstuber sucking a sausage? Oh wait...well now I just feel like I wasted an opportunity.

"No he went for Mr. Monster Cock on his first time out."

HA! Loved it!

This is a amazing story for a first timer. I had never read a day after the big night as you hav written it. It is vey enlightening. I'm also surprised and delighted hat Justin is the athlete/soccer player. I would have suspected it would have been Brian. That's a nice change.

Thnk you for the eye candy and I agree totally with your opinion, LOL.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!

To be honest I haven't really read much in the way of QAF fic in years so I really have no clue how enlightening it is lol. And you are not the first to comment on Brian being the more obvious choice but for me it could only be Justin. I fucked with the characters enough with this, if it'd been Brian I think everything would have changed.

Brian Kinney knew what he was doing, the best way to sell something is sex.

How do you feel about soccer now?

Brian may not do repeats, but Justin sure does. Enjoying himself immensely while doing so too.
Is Craig going to become the father his kids deserve or live up to Justin's description of him. Yay for Jennifer! Love Justin's new found rebellion streak.

I'm feeling so stupid right now, I did not pay attention to your title before. So little Justin will leave the Pitts for Munich? Interesting choice. Anyway, thank you for this chapter.

Author's Response:

He does leave, but not for Munich. I chose Mia San Mia as the title because of its meaning; 'we are who we are'. It's just a happy little coinkydink. :o)

graig an ass.

Reviewer: Dioramanya (Anonymous) · Date: March 13, 2013 05:46 PM · On: Against The Run Of Play

One thing that I don't really understand is the need Justin has to always say "sorry". For what ? He doesn't have to be sorry for being gay. Or because Craig can't accept it. How many did he say it in this chapter ?

Author's Response:

Justin is more sorry for the imposition he feels he is causing than actually being sorry that he is gay. I hope that makes sense. :o) I mean I apologised when I had to have surgery and my parents found out while on a river in China, you kinda tend to apologise for stupid shit that isn't anyone's fault but you still feel bad that you've cause a disruption.

Who knew soccer was so sexy? TAG

Author's Response:

Oh I did.

It's an oldie but a goodie.

I love the conversations and one liners in this chapter; like "Well then spank me and call me Shirley". By the way you have spoilt me, as I now want a picture reply to all my reviews; lol, pleeeeease. That was awesome I kept going back to check it out. All the footage you have is awesome and now I see soccer as a whole new ball game. I probably should review more but I think I will just go back and check out that footage again on your reply. lol

Cheers

Author's Response:

I like dialogue, I much prefer it but sadly I can't make an entire fic make sense with it - believe me I'm really lazy, if I could I would just love to tell someone what happens and have them write all the annoying bits.

Oh so you are a fan of Olivier Giroud eh? Well you might like this then ;o) Well I can imagine him getting spanked tonight, his team are playing mine in the Champions League.

Muahaha I love soccer! And of course Brian and Justin. Awesome start. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I love this fic. I really like the fact you made Justin the soccer player, as most people don’t think outside the box and would have made Brian the player since Gale can play soccer. This fic is original and so well written. I like how you set it up so we think Justin is in trouble but then he gets an unexpected opportunity. I especially like the clips you put at the end of the chapters. More please.

Cheers

Author's Response:

I am so glad you are enjoying the fic, it's not only my first try at QAF fic but it is also my first attempt at something with an arc, that's more than a stand-alone.

The thing with Justin is that his story is that of a coming of age thing, his character, okay maybe not his character but his circumstances are easy to manipulate whereas Brian is who he is, it seems wrong to mess with that.

More chapters or more clips? Lol. Honestly, I get that soccer isn't everyone's bag so I kind of feel like an ambassador of the sport and there is no better introduction to The Beautiful Game than fit men being all touchy feely with each other. Hey maybe after this I'll have a few converts.

Welcome to MW! Great story idea. And, I love the added pictures you've incorporated! Can't wait to see where you take this. TAG

First, let me commend you on making Justin's first time not all a bed of roses.
Can't believe Hobbs is in this. Griffin's jerk. Isn't going to make things better by Justin moving up though.
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Glad to see not all in Brian's world is smooth sailing. Gus running the other way was adorable.
Now he'll have a coach for him.
Brian must not have looked too closely at the client's info with the pictures of the team. He should have recognized Justin from it

Author's Response:

Gus running the other way is actually a story that Bayern Munich/Germany player Mario Gomez told of his first big game when he was a kid so I kind of stole it from him.

Brian wouldn't have seen Justin because Justin at the time was a player for their amateur team. I stole the German league system for this fic. Professional teams have many different teams, usually from U8-9 all the way to the actual first squad, and only the first team is considered a marketable comodity. Although I guess it's possible Brian was given photos of all the teams. But don't worry Brian will discover Justin as a player, but not for another few chapters. There was an interview with a gay Bundesliga player speaking annonomously a couple of months back and he said 'I was once in a relationship. But you can imagine that a month long game of hide-and-seek is poisonous to any partnership. I had to make a decision. Sure, it was nice to be successful in football after that. It was priced accordingly.' I'm using the idea of Justin trying to hide part of himself with almost everyone, whether it's that he is gay or that he is a player.

Many thanks for reading, I hope that you enjoy the fic. I am trying really hard to make it a realistic portrayal.

I love that Justin named Brian «the guy». I find it hilarious. Thank you for this chapter.

Reviewer: zsadistwhore (Signed) · Date: March 06, 2013 03:48 AM · On: The End In The Beginning

That makes sense. I guess I'm just not used to people actually bothering to use the correct terminology/spelling for the setting of the story. (I just read a story based on Sherlock, where the author referred to trousers as pants and referenced blocks (as in, they were two blocks from the police station) and it really annoyed me.)

I loved this and am looking forward to reading more. :)

I have a couple of questions.

1) Where are you from? Because at first I thought you might be from Germany, due to you supporting a German football team. But if you are, your English is very good. And I figure you can't be English, as you spelt colourful without a u.

2) What's the context of your gif?

Author's Response:

Many thanks for reading and reviewing.

1) I am British, I just happened to fall in love with German football as a total fluke since I spent 18 years hating the sport! As for the spelling, I figure it's like writing with an accent lol.

2) The gif is of Lars Bender celebrating a goal with Miro Klose against Denmark at the European Championships last year.

Once again I would like to say welcome to MW and being a first time author here. I’m so sorry you lost your reviews. I just wanted to repost my review and let you know that I am really enjoying this story and I love the way you tease us at the start, then go back to the beginning. That’s brilliant. Please update soon.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Many thanks. It was a bit of a bummer but oh well. I'm glad this has been so well recieved, since it is my first attempt at QAF fan fic.

I am here to help with pushing you to write more. Does that work? Lol. I really like this one and I can't wait until they meet again. Apparently Justin has made an impression on the Big Bad Wolf. Yes! Hope to see more of this soon. Take care.

Author's Response:

I wish pushing was all it took for me to write! sadly as the old adage goes; life happens when you're looking the other way.
