This was a great story. I was not a fan of Lane's from the very beginning. Even if he ended up even being a nice guy, which he wasn't, he came on way too strong with Justin. nThe guy gave me the creeps; way too pushy!! So, if anything good did come of Lane being around was that it helped make Brian realize that he needed to man up and tell Justin how he really felt about him.

Brian's back to his normal, agressive, territorial, wonderful self, though he needs to have a little more faith in Justin.
Loved the chapter, except I do have one tiny, minuscule, infinitessimal criticism - the word "baby". I can enjoy a severely OOC Brian if it fits the story and if he's well-written (just like in this fic), except for when such a Brian uses that particular term of endearment in relation to Justin. For some odd, bizarre reason, it NEVER feels authentic, regardless how OOC Brian's character is. I really can't explain why I feel that way, but I do. Please don't be mad at me... *cowers under blanket*
Other than that - yet another brilliant chapter.

P.S. BTW, I don't mind Brian beeing OOC once in a blue moon. While I do prefer B & J closer to canon, I still find it fun to read stories where they have different character traits, especially when they are well written. Besides, Brian singing - I would literally pay, PAY, to see that! I can't WAIT to read that part, because knowing your style of writing it'll be so vividly described it'll be like watching it on screen.

P.S. Read your comments and yes, I have a HUGE pot of coffee brewed and I am planning to pretty much veg all night reading. I am gearing up for the superbowl party hubby and I are hosting tomorrow. Neither one of us likes football. Neither one of us watches football (except for this one game). Neither one of us knows a heck of a lot about football, except for the very basics. Yet, all of our friends insist on having the SuperBowl party at our house every year for the past three years. We always end up having a great time, but truth be told, I find the football game running in the background a distraction... But what can you do, right - when your friends want a party, they get a party, the wild-football-loving-animals!

Brian raw and exposed is not who we are used to seeing displayed so openly...but that doesn't mean I mind reading about situations that bring him to the realities of loving Justin - you HAVE to open up!

Interesting story. I noticed that there is another story and a third WIP all based on this Lane whatshisname. I was in the mood for a longer fic, and this seemed to fit the bill. Im glad I started to read it. I like independant Justin, and this period of time after leaving Brian/and before the bomb, we didn't really get to see much of his life. This is fun!

Those two always danced around the issue on the series. The best reason for fanfic writer's to fix the flaws. Which way will you go? Fixing them or making them even more insurmountable. Which every way it'll make for a great read.

The new artisty loft is a very nice touch. I liked that idea. The old loft is too much of a trick pad with old plates still coming around from time to time. Yet it has the history of Justin's first time too.
Lane lost it and Kinnetik too probably. He was perfect until the end and he should have been a gentlemen in defeat. That would have impressed Justin more for later if Brian doesn't work out.
It doesn't matter what the size of their pocketbook is; men can be total jerks when rejected. Oh brother, do I know that.
Great story from a very gifted writer; but you know that :)

How can Brian overcome this?
If a beautiful uber-rich man in his late 20s took me to NY on his jet I'd be heels over head and giving that stud the fu*k of his life. I would be his drug and he wouldn't be able to live without me. Provided he wasn't a total jerk and egotistical manic. It takes a lion tamer to handle the lion and you master from the bottom if you're smart.
I certainly almost hope Lane wins but I know you're a B/J fan at heart and where this is going. The idea of a suitor so beautifully fine as Lane taking Brian's prize boy from him is one hell of a plot line.

I love the dialogue you gave her; I still remember when she asked Brian if he thought she was Judy Garland that one day - cracked me up! They certainly had a lot of bridges to cross in their relationship with each other her son....I would have loved to have seen how it all panned out in the show but I'm grateful at least that we have fan fic to continue it!
