I read this long ago and can't believe I forgot to review. I thought this was an exceptional historical story. I wish it was longer.

Author's Response: Oh thanks so much. I don't think I could have written much more, it brought tears to my eyes... But, I guess that's way I rarely write sad stories... ~ Kathleen

This was so emotionally impacting. I truly loved it. You are so right, sadly society has yet to come completely together, and I suspect they never will. I would settle for everyone at least attempting to treat a person based on their personality and nothing else, but I think that is probably more fantasy than reality. Anywho I'm rambling, I really did like the intensity and very clear statement you have made with this fic. Great job. *hugs ~mandi

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your wonderful review, it really means a lot to me... I can't believe the news this week with the two gay students that committed suicide after being bullied. It just breaks my heart that this type of bigotry still exists, my heart goes out to their friends and family. Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Oh no.  :o(  Very very sad.  Im glad our Sunshine was born in a time he could allow his huge heart and major bravery rule his actions.

Poor Brian = but he would have died one way or another without his Sunshine.  Evil times then, but evil times now when we let fear rule the world and our decisions.

Im afraid that Justin will be just as lost in a marriage pre arranged and based nothing on love.

Author's Response: Yeah, I don't really write death fics, but something came over me and I just needed to get all political... Even my fic "Dead Like Me" isn't really about death exactly, its very humorous... Thanks so much for reading my fics and taking the time to comment, it really means a lot to me... My lover and I have to be discreet.  I have felt the discrimination first hand and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

You're story is so sad, but so true and it's actual history.

Well done.

Author's Response: I'm so sorry you've had to experience this type of discrimination... Please know that everyone here loves you and welcomes you with open arms... *Hugs* Later Darling ~ Kathleen

OMG... that was heartbreaking.... Poor Brian.... you are soo right... we have come so far ...and yet in some cases..not far enough.....one of the problems (in my opinion)... is that everyone is waiting for the other person to make the first move ... so no one ends up doing anything for anyone.... I have to ask you...is that picture of Gale in the banner taken from when he did Deadwood????

Author's Response: Yeah, I agree we all need to be more verbal and let people know its more about the love, than about the sex... You're right the pic is from Deadwood with more antiquing effects added by my friend Vonnie... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Thank you for this. I have on many occasions called people on their thoughtless remarks. I always tell them that they don't know who might hear them. I happen to be African American. I do not sound like most people think black people sound. I have caught so many people saying insulting things about minorities and let them know that they didn't know who they were talking to when they can't see their faces.

Thanks again, Ro

Author's Response: You know ,I don't usually get all political on people in my fics, I save that for when we're in person... Ha, Ha, Ha... Sorry, you have to understand before I found QAF (the Bush years) I was a political junkie... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

Beautifully written. Lots of crying.

Author's Response: Oh thanks Darling, just a little something I needed to get off my chest... Besides I love Vonnie's banner. hee, hee, hee... I don't know if I told you this or not, but I've sent all of McKinney and the two other parts of that series off to my beta queen for feedback. I'm considering trying to get published and McKinney seems like the one story of mine that could actually become a real novel, and not qaf related if the city, names and personality changes. So that's why I haven't posted and I'm not sure if I should just take it down... Later Sweetheart ~ Kathleen
