I love what U wrote here! And I can oh so relate. When I first watched it, I couldn't belive how much I liked the show! I knew about it months before I actaully sat down and watched it. Glancing at the advertisement I got the wrong impression about it. I thought it might be some tasteless mind crap that was about frivilous sex and no substance.
However, one Sunday night I was just totally bored, and turned on the TV hoping to find something different. Queer... was on. "Let me just check this out!" I said to myself, "I'm sure this is just going to be a piece of crap but since I don't expect much anyway I won't be disappointed." No doubt, my expectation were very low. Lawd, was I in for a surprise! I don't think there will ever be again a show that had the effect on me that this series has. And if someone told me that years after the show was cancelled I'd still be loving these characters... I would have told them: Hog-watch, NO WAY!
Get this though, the first episode I seen was the episode when Justin first met and slept with Ethan. At that time, I didn't know much about his relationship with Brian. I only knew it was evident he was living with Brian and sneaking off to be with Ethan. Not knowing about his relationship with Brian - at the time - I actually thought Ethan and Justin were HOTTER together than Brian and Justin.
And then the season ended, and then SHOWTIME re-aired the entire first season again! And damn, I was so wrong! I then got the whole shebang on the Brian and Justin relationship.... and then started screaming... GET LOST, ETHAN! GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE! YOU CAN'T COMPETE WITH BRIAN!
Author's Response: It is funny how when you least expect it a show like Queer as Folk will reach out and grab you...Once you see and feel the love there's no going back...
I think because the reunion was the first episode I saw I'll always be a Brian and Justin shipper... Even though I didn't even know what that meant for the longest time... ha, ha, ha
I'm reading and almost through with the Cherished series... and loving it...
