I admire Justin for devoting so much time to Kai.... BUT... Jennifer has a point.... he is totally forgetting someone who needs him as much as his brother..... Brian.... It seems to me as if he no longer even thinks or cares about the man he supposedly "loves"..... that's pretty sad...
Author's Response: Brian made it clear to him that he wanted a break. Justin isn't going to pine for him. He still loves him, that hasn't changed. But he's not going to track him down either. I'll be sure to add some Brian-thoughts in the next chapter. Thanks for bringing that up!

I love this story it is always such a shock for parents when a child has a diagnosis. Unfortunatley I have seen the same reaction as Craig and Susan's
Author's Response: Same. It's a sad reaction to see, but it does happen. Thankfully, in this story, this child has an older brother who not only accepts him and the diagnosis, but wants to support him, be there for him, and just enjoy him like a brother should.

I like the premise, and that you're taking your own experiences with children with autism. It's also satisfying that the updates are so frequent, but I think you're sacrificing quality for speed. You've got some great ideas and grasp on the characters (I'm so sick of authors who don't understand their characters!), but you might want to look in to some basic writing technique, such as describing settings and painting a real pictures instead of just using dialogue. Using some creativity instead of just stating "That Afternoon" would really draw the reader in. I know I'd enjoy the story a lot more if it were written like a book rather than just your train of thought.

I also work with special needs children who have autism... and you are absolutely correct... no two children are exactly the same..... some are like Kai.... some are non-verbal and some are extremely violent ... Author's Response: Thanks! Craig feels no connection to Kai and, sadly, has withdrawn himself. This unfortunately happens a lot when a parent's ideals about their child takes a different turn of events. Most parents end up going through the whole mourning process and accepting their child for who he/she is, and then becoming an amazing advocate for them. Others, unfortunately, can't see past the "death" of their dream child, and end up leaving.

Author's Response: Neither Justin or Craig know that Kai has autism right now. Craig is in denial about it, so to him, it's just a speech-issue.
