I just discovered this. It was mentioned in FB and i thought I'd take a look. I didn't read the first installment yet, but do so for sure. This still made sense though.
Can I just say WOW! I love your portraysl of the characters! I love all teh angst and teh family entanglements. At times so gut wrentching and at others, it made me smile. Through out it all I completely taken in. I love fics like this. Where teh story is realistic. That B&J are so strong and supportive of each other. Gus and Jenny are portrayed beaurifully!! Seeing how they lived when with the gorls, compared to now, lifing with their perspective fathers. How they are so incredibly supportive of each other. Micheal is still pretty self absorbed at times, but at least he's able to come down from his emotionally charged rants and see reality.
I know you updated about a month ago, and I get why it takes awhile for new chapters. they are incredibly long! I love that! I enjoy being able to take an hour or so to read a chapter.
Having said that, I'm definitely waiting on baited breath for a new chapter. :) I can see this is going to be one of those fics where I put it on my kindle as is so I can go back and read it comfortably again as I wait.
Thank you!!!!! thanhk you for giving us this wonderful story.
Cheers!
Elaine
Author's Response: Thank you so very much, Elaine, for your insightful and wonderful feedback! I'm utterly thrilled that you are enjoying this story :) My goal was to make it as canon as possible, yet also taking into consideration that the characters have aged, that Brian and Justin are full-time fathers to Gus, who is now in his early twenties and has a steady boyfriend, and that Ben and Michael are fathers to a teenaged girl who is a lesbian, and has a girlfriend, in addition to the quote, normal, life experiences we all gain through the years.
In the prequel to this story, it has much, much shorter chapters, and I also ended most of them with cliffhangers. I made a conscious decision this time that I would not leave any cliffhangers on the chapters. I've received only positive feedback to the very long chapters in this story, so I've continued on with it. I'm so happy you too, enjoy them!
This story certainly has moments of angst, though I've tried to keep some of it 'light', and sometimes even humorous, while other times are indeed more emotional. I've had the most enjoyable time in bringing Gus and Jenny Rebecca to life in this story; first as children, then as teenagers, and now into early adultood. I could only imagine that their brother/sister bond with each other would be a strong one, as their mothers usually seemed so focused on their careers, and also bickered quite often. As now as young adults, I trust it would only continue to grow.
There are a few aspects to Michael's personality that will never change. On the show, he displayed moments of maturity (in his mind), and even criticized Brian for being an "over the hill club boy", at least by his standards. Yet there were times when his "old" behaviors would come to the surface (as is common in real life). But I believe that now, in this particular story, when they do, he is more apt to listen to reason, and make changes accordingly when a situation calls for it; though it might take a little time to get to that point.
When the series ended, I truly believed that Brian was completely in love with Justin, and the changes he was willing to make came from a sincere heart. He might not have had a clear understanding of some aspects of what being in a committed relationship meant, and was a little misguided internally, as he was putting what he thought Justin wanted him to be in the forefront. But then we remember that he had never seen in his own life an honest example of love between his own parents, so he didn't have any true resources to refer to. It would understandably take him and Justin a bit of time to work through it all and to find the balance in their relationsip, but I believe they both would feel that each other was worth whatever they invested into the relationship. Brian admitting his love to Justin was the first major step in that direction; their journey could only continue from there :) They do experience bumps in the road, but their amazingly tight connection to one anoter, based on honesty, seems to always get them through.
Thanks again for your thoughtful comments!
Sláinte!

Please be assured, I have no intention of abandoning this story, and will make a more determined effort to get the upcoming chapters posted without such a broad break in-between.

Mine came through blank. I want to see the pictures. Any suggestions?
Fantastic chapter! I was so worried when the test results were positive. So glad things were resolved. Love how Justin went after Brian's oncologist.
Author's Response: The pictures should now be available for you to see at the end of the chapter. Sorry about that :)
I'm overjoyed you liked this chapter! Yep, Justin is equally as protective of Brian, as Brian is for him.
Thank you for your feedback, and for your ongoing support! So greatly appreciated!!

If the angst doesn't kill you.....
Great chapter. Finding out Britin was still waiting for them was nice.
Author's Response: I know...hehehehehe :) But after the angst, is the love!
I'm so thrilled that you liked this chapter! There is much more coming up up for the Kinney family!
Thank you very, very much for your supportive feedback and ongoing encouragement! :)

Thank you. Wonderful long chapter. Brian and Justin should have no qualms about having Gus and Shane working for Kinnetik when they retire. Jenny, to be abandoned by her mother and to feel it more is tough. Good thing she has Ben. Cancer scare...happy it was a mistake.
Author's Response: You're very welcome :) I'm so delighted you liked this chapter. Indeed, Gus and Shane have learned a lot about Kinnetik and have proven their business skills to Brian and Justin. We'll have to see where that all leads...
Jenny Rebecca still has some issues with her moms, but thankfully, she has a huge support system with her dads, brother, grandparents, and her uncles, especially with B & J.
I appreciate your encouraging feedback immensely!! Thank you very much!!

Great chapter, nice and long, lots of stuff going on. So glad the cancer return was a mistake.
Author's Response: Thanks, Bill! I'm thrilled you enjoyed this chapter! It was another long and informative one, to be sure.
The cancer scare was intense, yet I like to show how through the years, Brian no longer keeps anything from Justin, and in fact, has learned to lean on him and accept his husband's unwavering support.
Thank you so very much for your ongoing support and encouragement! Greatly appreciated!!

How lovely to find another update to your story. So, well crafted and it must take a lot of time and dedication to prepare the next instalment. I like that all roads seem to heading back to Britin & Pittsburgh. Characters very close to canon while at the same time in a different but related contexts.
Author's Response: I'm so delighted you enjoyed reading this chapter! Your encouraging comments are so appreciated!!
I tried to keep the characters as close to canon as possible, yet also take into consideration the years that have passed, in which everyone has also evolved and grown through life experiences. Brian and Justin, now that they've been married for more than 10 years and been totally monogomous, and the fact that their son is now in his early twenty's, would likely handle a situation differently than they would have 20 years ago. Yet, their personalities are still the same. I hope I've been able to keep true to that dynamic and found the balance :)
Thank you imeensely for your support of the story!!

You always give us such lovely long chapters that it is well worth the wait. Poor Jenny Rebecca. It's a good thing she has Gus and Ben as well as Brian and Justin. Michael tends to think of how things effect him more than his daughter. The sell of Kinnetik NY seems to be going over well. But then you put a scare into Brian about cancer! I'm glad you didn't leave us with a cliff hanger and that it was all a mistake.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed this capter!
Jenny Rebecca indeed has a strong and loving support system. Michael still sometimes doesn't see the whole picture about certain things, but he eventually comes around...thankfully :)
The sell of the New York office of Kinnetik was big decision. Brian never makes a decision he isn't 100% sure about, and with Justin being the main reason, he knows he's done the right thing. And he is truly happy about it.
Thank you so much for your feedback and for your ongoing support of this story!! I appreciate it immensely!!
