Date: December 05, 2011 Title: Chapter 32: The Decisions We Make I just discovered this fic and pretty much spent the entire day reading it - my Sunday was gone in a blink of an eye. Amazing fic! I am normally not a fan of Brian/Justin vampire stories, but this one just grabbed me from the start and I couldn't stop reading it. Maybe I'll give other B&J vampire fics a chance after this one. There are too many things that I liked to name, so I'm no going to enumerate them. I will say that your portrayal of a completely unhinged Vampire!Brian is nothing short of perfection. I feel terrible for Justin and his suffering and hope that you muse will be inclined to make things a bit better for him in the future. I don't particularly care for the idea of little Justin being a bit of an evil kid, BUT I am going to trust you because you haven't disappointed me so far. Oh, one quick question - I thought that Mysterious Marylin/Jacob died in a previous chapter? Am I wrong? Or did he in fact die and was brought back to life for some reason? Because this chapter made me laugh so hard, I knocked my beer bottle over and spilled a good third of the contents all over the table. Not only that, when I read the whole ".. Ben snores like a fucking dragon beast..." rant I spewed a generous sized mouthful of that Blueberry Ale all over my laptop. Date: October 17, 2011 Title: Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Just discovered this story about a week ago and totally and completely fell in love with it. I absolutely cannot wait for the next chapter and a resolution to this epic, epic fic! I so hope it'll have a happy ending for our favorite boys. This story has made me laugh and cry (a lot... at one point I was weeping loudly enough for my husband to get concearned, which was hilarious to him after he found out why I was crying and embarrasing for me). At one point I got so caught up reading, I didn't realize it was 4 am and I had to get up two ours later for work. Date: July 22, 2012 Title: Chapter 57: Chapter 57 I'm sorry, but I have to do this...fucking Ted! Blankety-blank-blank-blank! Sorry for the cursing, but it had to be done. This cliffhanger was a killer (no pun intended)! I can't wait for the next chapter, which I hope will come sooner since you are feeling better. I'm very glad you are doing better and not just for selfish reasons. :) I wish you lot of continued health so that you can enjoy life more, aside from bringing us, your fans, more fan fiction. Now, for the actual review. This chapter was jam-packed with goodies. The action packed ending with the bomb threat and Katy's kidnapping were edge-of-the-seat exciting. The cliffhanger was...well, you already know. I especially loved McFed's handling of Mel and Mrs. LaSalle, Cynthia discovering the discrepancy with the land deal and Emmett discovering Brian's secret. Just awesome. Speaking of Emmett, I sincerely hope he'll have the balls to tell Justin the truth about Brian's sight, because he deserves to know. I'm sorry, but it rather bothers me that Brian is keeping this from Justin. IMHO, by keeping this to himself Brian isn't treating Justin as an individual capable of making his own decision in regards to what he considers a sacrifice; he isn't treating him as a grown up MAN or an EQUAL in their relationship. As romantic as it sounds for Brian to shower Justin with gifts like land and a dream house, it seems (at least to me) as rather indulgent, as if he's placating a child. While in the original show Brian has done a number of things "for Justin's own good" - like pushing him off the Kinney cliff during the cancer arc - he has never infantilized him. It's just my opinion and you may very well disagree, but no matter what Brian's been through he doesn't have the right to keep something this big from his PARTNER. Don't get me wrong, I like your Brian very, very, very much - he's a much more mature, grown-up, more open and often selfless character than in the OS. Which is why it bothers me that your Brian is doing such a disservice to Justin, someone he's supposed to love above all others. In effect, he's treating him as unworthy of making a decision about the direction of his own life. Basically, it seems like he's treating McLaren more like and equal than the love of his life. I just realized that I am basically jealous of McLaren on Justin's behalf, which is ridiculous, I know. LOL! Anyway, the whole point of my rant was that I hope that Brian realizes that while Brian might consider Justin to be trapped with someone blind, Justin might consider it a priviledge to care for Brian and to be trusted so completely. I very much doubt that Justin would consider it a burden; he might love Brian even more. I hope that Brian "wakes up" and fesses up to Justin, which would be HONEST and RIGHT, and not selfish in the slightest. But, in case Brian remains his stubborn self, then all my hope is on Emmett, who I hope will spill the beans. On the other hand, my ENTIRE opinion of Brian's motivations and his treatment of Justin could be completely wrong. As a reader, I won't see the entire picture until the very end and you may very well have something up your sleeve that I just don't know about. Which is yet another reason why I am awaiting your next chapter like an eager puppy. I hope you won't be offended by my thoughts. The bottom line is that I love this story as a whole - your writing, characters, descriptions and the incredibly multi-faceted plot are amazing. I've followed this story for months and will continue to follow it until the bitter end, ALL sequels included. So, I hope you won't take my opinions on this one small detail as a criticism of the whole story, because it's far from that. Again, you may have much more information to reveal and all my worries may be allayed in the next couple of chapters. Date: November 12, 2012 Title: Chapter 60: Chapter 60 As great as this chapter has been (e.g. the way Brian dealt with Ted, the scene of the family in Deb's kitchen, etc.), the overwhelming feeling I have after finishing reading it is, unfortunately, profound disappointment. I'm sorry. I truly am, but I just COULD NOT suspend my disbelief enough to buy Brian's reason's for not telling Justin the truth about his vision. IMO, it goes beyond selfishness, beyond just a lack of trust in his partner, beyond a lack of respect FOR his partner... To me it's a betrayal of major proportions. After almost 800 thousand words and 60 chapters I was hoping that Brian would grow up enough (especially after everything he's been through in this story) to TRUST Justin, to TRUST Justin's LOVE for him and to TRUST their relationship, what I am left with instead is Brian selfishly leaving his partner, and supposed love of his life, in the dark about a serious health issue; and not only that, he's letting Justin's COMPETITION to do the "honors" of telling him the truth. Brian treated McLaren much more fairly and with much more respect and trust than his own partner. I truly don't know how anybody, how any person with any self-worth or self-respect would not feel insulted, belittled and betrayed. With only the epilogue being left, I assume Justin will hear the truth from McFed and will swallow the whole explanation hook, line and sinker, like a doormat, and sweep this betrayal under the rug because the "perfect" Brian Kinney will somehow throw him a bone and allow him to finally love him. I'm sorry, but it's bullshit. I've followed this story from the beginning and I've loved it up until this chapter. I've HOPED so MUCH that Brian would finally treat Justin like an EQUAL, like a PARTNER, like a MAN.... but in the end that didn't happen... I shouldn't be taking this so to heart - it is fanfiction after all. But I've spent HOURS reading this story. I got involved with these characters, canon and original ones. I got so invested in the plot. And I feel like I've been lead to believe that there would be a happy ending for Brian and Justin, but it looks like I've been totally wrong. Basically, the point of my rather long rant is that there SHOULD have been a WARNING in the front page of the story letting people know that after EVERYTHING Brian's character experienced no change or growth of any kind; that he has learned nothing about love or trust, or relationships and that he'll continue to treat Justin like a child, like something less, like someone undeserving of HONESTY and RESPECT, and LOVE. While Justin's character has grown and changed; while he has realized his mistakes, made actual effort to apologize and correct his actions, and has PROMISED to never leave Brian, he is STILL being denied equal treatment as one half of that relationship. And he is still being denied TRUST, which, in my opinion, is the underpinning of any successful relationship. Basically, I should have been warned that whatever form they end up in at the end of an epilogue, it will not be a happy Brian/Justin pairing with the kind of LOVE, TRUST and EQUALITY most B/J fans like me hope for. I apologize if this was in any way harsh, but it's from the heart. I greatly admire you as a writer and taken purely objectively (setting emotion aside) and as a whole this was an incredible work of fan fiction. But I just couldn't not voice my disappointment, when I had SUCH high hopes for a happy resolution for these characters. Cheers, Summary:

Date: August 29, 2012 Title: Chapter 13: Chapter 13 I swear to God, Justin being shot was just as shocking & emotional for the 3rd time as the first. You have a true gift! I was EXPECTING it; I knew the when, the who and the how, yet it still affected me! I loved this chapter. Brian being a shit to Justin when he was "dying" was frustrating again, even though I understood the reasonin; same with his not visiting the hospital. The "honey, I'm home" & "your mother's a bitch", made me laugh yet again! I cannot tell you how much I just LOVE this story to pieces! So, here's my question - I remember "rumors" that you have thought of a sequel. I checked a couple of last reviews and some of your responses confirmed that you've at least thought of writing one. I am wondering if that's still in the works or not. Oh, just so you know, I'm mentally twisting my entire body into a pretzel (because crossing fingers is just not enough) to make it come TRUE! I will write a sequel, though I'm not sure if it will be to this story, or to BTWYTWY, or maybe a whole new story! :-). But it won't be until Winter when things calm down at work. Date: February 05, 2012 Title: Chapter 12: Coming Full Circle - Conclusion "What is it?" he asked eagerly. "Human, I guess," That was so funny, I nearly spewed coffee on my laptop! This story was so sweet and filled with so many wonderful moments - some incredibly funny, some achingly sweet, some lovely, some sexy...and all very realistic. Makes me wish the original show had a Six Feet Under type ending montage (without the death, of course) that showed the boys' life together years into the future. This story and all these wonderful moments could easily be incorporated into such an episode. Now THAT'S the kind of ending to the OS I would've been completely behind, not what we got... Loved the chapter, except I do have one tiny, minuscule, infinitessimal criticism - the word "baby". I can enjoy a severely OOC Brian if it fits the story and if he's well-written (just like in this fic), except for when such a Brian uses that particular term of endearment in relation to Justin. For some odd, bizarre reason, it NEVER feels authentic, regardless how OOC Brian's character is. I really can't explain why I feel that way, but I do. Date: December 02, 2012 Title: Chapter 32: Combating Hatred With a Four-Letter Word Hi, Kim! My apologies for not reviewing this right away. I read this earlier in the week and I thouroughly enjoyed this chapter. First things first - Justin's defense of his FIL was just fantastic! It was probably my favorite part of this chapter, which was already full of awesome. Secondly, Brian dealing with the kid ("Dennis the menace" - LOL!) was a fun little bit. Can't wait to see how that resolves itselt. You've told me your ideas for this situation before, but I really can't wait to read how you actually resolve it all in the end. Thirdly, all the debate, election and the intrigue around the dastardly Stewart keeps me on the edge of my seat. I love all the plot twists and am anxious to see how you resolve it. Date: September 16, 2013 Title: Chapter 36: Fin and Tony's Love Story Hi, Kim! Sorry, I've been MIA for so long, but RL is still being a bit of a bitch and is not letting me enjoy myself to the fullest quite yet. Anyway, I am happy that I finally have a decent chunk of time to spend on reading today and I'm so glad I started with this chapter - it was a good one! I loved reading about Fin and Tony's romance and the scene between Alex and Debbie. I am curious what you'll end up doing with Alex's character, but my marshmalloyee heart desperately wants her to end up with Brian and Justin. I keep imagining the court system thinking that Carl and Deb are too old to take on a teenage runaway and threatening to send her to a foster home, or worse a group home, and BJ charging in on their white horse and adopting her at the last minute...or something totally cool, yet unrealistic like that. :) But however it turns out, I'm sure you'll make it wonderful, so I can't wait to find out. I loved this chapter - the interaction between the girls and their dads was awesome, the conversations between them were great. There were a number of places that either made me laugh or brought a lump of emotion to my throat. It was just great! The only thing that I don't like is that I'll have to be super-duper patient until the next chapter, because my impatient patootie wants the next chapter right the f**k now! LOL! I'm sorry, but I really, really, really want to see how it all progresses, which of the boys figures out their daughters' secret first and I CANNOT wait for their reunion. I don't know how I am going to survive the wait time....swoons... OK, I'm back... lol! Oh, nooooooooo! *runs around the kitchen screaming like a petulant 5 year old* OK, meltdown over. Great update and a lovely Thursday surprise - thank you! I loved Kalee meeting Debbie and Emmett. I loved her interaction with Brian. I just knew, KNEW he'd be the one to discover the truth - our Brian is no dumb cookie. Not that Justin is dumb, not at all - he's just more trusting, the poor thing. I loved Katie's silent war with Alex. Her pretending to be sick was genius! When I tried to pull something like that on my mother once I got caught and was punished, so I never tried anything like that ever again. So on the one hand - kudos, Katie! Date: May 24, 2013 Title: Chapter 30: Beginning Anew Hi Kim, Sorry for the awfully late review, especially for a story that's been a favorite of mine for so long. I'm a bad friend, please forgive me. Speaking of favorites, this story still has a special place in my heart and this chapter especially made me love it even more. Justin's homecoming was great. The image of cats being walked on leashes made me laugh for some reason. Somehow I doubt two cats that were cooped up in a car for hours enjoyed that. I sort of imagined a couple of "grumpy cats" (I'm sure you've seen that meme all over the net recently) being walked on leashes. Adorable! Anyway, I digress, I thought that Brian's desire to make things comfortable for Justin at the carriage house showed maturity. For a split second I thought that it would be great if he sabotaged things a bit, but then I thought it would be something Michael's character from season 1 would do and not Brian's a decade post show. So, I totally loved the way you handled it. The expensive bottle of wine in a crock pot meal, though, again made me laugh. Like many in the fandom I swoon over Protective!Brian, so his reaction to Justin's confrontation with Alex was fantastic. On the other hand, Justin's way of calming him down and the self-confident way he dispatched his ex was equally swoon-worthy. I also absolutely LOVED the idea of Gus indulging his little sister with artbooks. I could imagine it quite clearly because of something I experienced just a couple of weeks ago myself with my half-sister. Like Gus, though she's the younger one in this case (by 9 years), she spent a good hour with me at a book store in St. Petersburg helping me pick out several books about Russian art. As an art lover and as someone who's Russian, it was truly ebarrasing when I realized HOW MUCH I've forgotten about Russian art. My sister, to my surprise and delight, knew quite a lot and spent hours telling me what she knew and what I used to remember, but sadly forgotten, while we toured the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. Basically, this already great chapter was made fantastic just for that little snippet of a scene alone, just because it had personal meaning for me. There are many other details that I enjoyed, but I'll be here until tomorrow if I continue, so I'll end it right here. :) Suffice it to say that it was another marvelous update and I can't wait for another one. Katie is one awesome little girl, I'm sure she'll grow up to be one bad-ass engineer and will give all the men in that profession a run for their money. But, Kaylee is no slouch either. She may not be mechanically inclined, but bravery and determination are definitely great qualities to have in one's arsenal, especially if you are a girl. I love those girls! I loved the fact that they cooperated in order to make it as painless as possible for all involved.
