I just realized this is out of date, a little.

I used to have my age here, since I know I'm not gonna remember to change my age every year, I'll just say I'm in my 30's, wife, mother, student, and worker. I love Queer as Folk, and all things Gale Harold. I've been reading Brian/Justin fan fiction for a long time, I've written several so far (mainly QAF), and I'll keep writing as long as ideas come to me.

I love reading, cooking, eating healthy, being with my family, and (oddly enough) my job. On a slightly different note, if my life had led in a different direction, I would probably be single, and living in Northern California (I currently live in Southern California), and be more involved in art, dance and music. I'm bi, although I have a husband and two sons. I was a homemaker for several years and am finally going back to school and working part-time. Just completed my Associate's Degree (yeah!) and I'm on to my Bachelor's. On a very different note the B&D lifestyle has always fascinated me, and I could see myself as a Dom for the right sub, or a sub for the perfect Dom.

My inspiration for writing: I love all the various post-513 stories I've seen. And I was so not happy with how the show ended, that my mind has too many ideas to try and sort through all the possibilities. I love the simple stories, the in-depth psychological stories, gap-fillers, and, of course, smut. Cause, I mean, if you've watched the show, you got used to that, and what would B/J stories be without a little PWP every once in a while. I also have some ideas for Harry Potter and BBC's Sherlock (if you've never seen it, watch it!). I've started the BDB stories I wanted (it will take time to finish, but I'm not done with the one yet), and will eventually finish them all, but real life can be a pain in the butt and get in the way all the time.

I will NEVER abandon a story, but I work at the speed of life and my muse... who comes and goes as he pleases. My muse, BTW is Brian Kinney, so that should give you an idea of how active my mind is, not to mention when I want to write and there's no ideas, that's his fault, too. It figures. Although at that point is usually when the PWP stories hit.

I like posting Gale updates, so here's one, because I can, and because I have to, and because he is so worth it. If anyone of you had read this previously... it was time an update, wasn't it? If you hadn't, just enjoy the info. If anyone misses The Secret Circle (like me) there's this lovely person on Vimeo (Mytears Inheaven) who has created videos of all of Gale's scenes in TSC: https://vimeo.com/user7116066.

In April, 2013, on the SyFy Channel there will be a mini-series called Defiance (12 episodes). It's not listed on SyFy's website, but Gale will have a recurring role on that show! YEAH! Update 7/11/13: Stupid show... it finally got interesting and Gale was in it for several scenes then they had to kill his character... NO FAIR! He was still awesome in it though, so you could watch them on syfy.com.

And of course the most exciting news, which you should all know by now, is that the QAF Convention in Los Angeles was hit past June! I was there it was awesome, amazing, thrilling, exciting... I got to meet Kim and Diane and see Gale, again! (That's right... I said again!) And of course Randy, Peter, Scott, Michelle and Ryan (who is super nice as well, and funny, too)! Then I went to see Scott in the Young Playwright's Festival, as well as Gale, who was hosting one of the nights of plays. So eloquent and intelligent... amazing man!

Okay, first I feel really bad for Justin, and Brian is an idiot and asshole. However, no matter what the story is like we all know that Brian has a heart of gold and he was meant to be with Justin. Finding out the background story on Justin will be interesting, so I'll definitely keep reading. But I gotta say that Justin's dealing with Brian being out when they should be married... I love it! No matter the circumstances I could totally see Justin doing that! And he would be an absolute natural with kids, especially boys. I love it and I look forward to reading more.

Cheers, Laura :)

Awesome! I liked the movie... at least, it had it's moments. Although she had it coming... and the ending was fast, here and the movie. I thought it was great and I would be more than happy if you ever did a sequel.

I kind of remember reading this story before, I think, but it was a long time ago when I first discovered MW... so if you find I've reviewed this before, then you'll know I liked it twice as much. :)

Cheers, Laura ;)

*sniff, sniff* Perfect... I always loved Daphne, she wasn't in the show enough, as far as I'm concerned. I could definitely see her stepping in between Brian and Justin, kind of like Mikey would do, but with the benefit falling to Brian and Justin because she's wants them both to be happy and knows that's with each other. Beautiful, can't wait for more!

I love this story, just had to start with that. I read this when it was first posted and I have followed it since. I'm very happy that's it updated, can't wait to get there.

But I can't help but point out something in this chapter that seems wrong. In a previous chapter you mentioned Brian suggesting they have a child together and Justin loving the idea of having a child, but yet in this chapter you have Brian being the sperm donor. Maybe it's a typo, maybe you changed your mind, but since Brian does have Gus, it would make sense that a child they shared together would be Justin's child.

Anyway, I'm just saying, change it or not, it works either way, I was just expecting Justin to be the sperm donor. I'm off to read the rest of this story... yeah! :)

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response: Thanks for your comments Laura I'm glad your enjoying this story. Sorry if I disappointed you with Brian fathering their child, the story just has a way of writing it self... Later Darling ~ Kathleen

But the butterfly? Very cool... I can picture every moment, and the very ending where Brian wants it to fly (and I completely agree with the whole butterfly collection crap) all the way to fucking Europe! Brilliant! I love this story.

For such a little short piece that could be goofy, that was very powerful and deeply emotional! I could also totally see Brian doing/thinking/saying just those things. Very well done.

Summary:

(In this story of a different era the (1970’s), Brian and Justin are in the closet.  Brian’s the ambitious and hotshot Governor of Pennsylvania, with intentions of running for President; while Justin’s a renowned Movie Star struggling to make the transition from Child-Star into adult roles.   And, Brian’s (teenage) son, Gus Kinney, has some serious relationship problems of his own.

This story is about people in-love and the difficult time they have coping in a world that has little tolerance for their type of love.

Note:

In this story a straight couple is used as a sub-plot to help better define Brian and Justin’s relationship.  To spell it out:  Brian and his straight-son, Gus, are so much alike; only major difference is that Gus flows freely with his emotions, whereas Brian consistently attempts to suppress his.  So, Gus’s relationship is used as a catalyst that would eventually persuade Brian to embrace his love for Justin.

Warning:  Lots of Condom Free Sex (however, was appropriate for the times)

I don't remember reading this on fanfic.net.... so cool it's here! Now you're making me want to go back and look at all your stories and see what else I've missed or forgotten. I love this story... it is ridiculously romantic, but started off so silly. I could so see Brian doing that... and having bad timing... so Brian! You know there've been times I've cooked or baked (like right after watching QAF or reading/writing a fanfic) and those terms just kind of jump out at you. Kind of like anytime someone says something came up... you never hear that phrase and not think of something else. Or working long and hard... or everytime you hear someone play a violin. So, yeah, there are times that I have to drag my mind out of the gutter... people (even family) look at you funny when you're cooking and you start laughing or blushing after reading things like beat until stiff or hard/soft balls or, well, anytime I actually make jambalaya.

Anyway, great story, love your other stories... amazing as always!

Author's Response:

Aw....thanks, Laura!:)  You know Brian - he can be a big kid sometimes!  I could see him playing with the food, too, and couldn't resist the line about throwing the bird's legs over his shoulders - LOL!  I know, I'm weird - ha!  I know I'll never look at Butterballs the same way again!  Thanks so much for the comments, my friend.:)

WOW! I look forward to seeing more of this. So far it's been interesting, but wasn't sure if anything would happen like that between Justin and his dad... Very powerful and emotional. I know Debbie would totally take Justin in, even with Luke... but at the moment he wouldn't be thinking about that, nor is he thinking calmly enough to think rationally. Not that I blame him, no 17 year old should be dealing with all of that, but it happens... and I'll be very curious to see where it goes and, I'm still waiting to see the whole Justin/Luke/Brian dynamic thing will work. Cause even though life would go on as it did in the show, Justin with a baby will change all of that. I don't even want to think of prom... I mean if Justin got hurt (whether Brian was there or not - cause I honestly think that wouldn't matter - Hobbes had a baseball bat at a prom)... Craig could use that time to make sure Luke got adopted, I don't know how, as Justin is the father, and if it's listed as such on the birth certificate then the legal system might not be able to do anything without the fathers permission, as Justin would be 18 and therefore legal and his father wouldn't have a say over Justin's child. But... anyway, I don't want to think about that... but I am definitely anxiously awaiting the next chapter in this story. It's funny, I've read a lot of fanfiction and I think I can honestly say that I've never read a story quite like this. It's definitely one of a kind. I mean I've read where Daphne gets pregnant, but I don't see that as believable, not after how careful they were. But this version makes sense... I like it.

Author's Response:

It's really all been building to that confrontation--and now that everything's out in the open, I think Justin's just about done with his parents. His next move remains to be seen, but i promise you it doesn't involve lying around waiting for someone to rescue him. He's always been a proactive little shit.

Luke does change a lot of things, though I don't stray ridiculously far from canon. As for prom... Well, this story only covers until Christmas, but I can tell you that the situation with Craig, and any questions about who Luke's legal guardian is, will be all resolved by then. Legally speaking, the next-of-kin would get rights to Luke if Justin was in a coma (though they couldn't put him up for adoption in the three days that Justin was out), but a living will/power of attorney paperwork would allow Justin to choose who gets custody of Luke. But, again, I'm only covering until Christmas.

I tried my best to make the plot a bit less contrived than these kinds of stories usually are. It's not the most original thing ever, but I like to think that I put my own spin on it.

Thank you so much for the wonderfully long and thorough feedback--I absolutely loved reading your comment. Be sure to check out the next chapter, going up on Wednesday!

The note to Noah from the Unicorns was enough to catch my attention... the summary was definitely hook, line and sinker... and the story was amazingly entertaining! I totally got the cakses based on the description before the explanation. Brilliant... and they would truly provide hours (presently and for years to come) of discussion among true theology majors... working at a university and knowing theology experts I can concure that cakes like that would absolutely be welcomed and enjoyed.

Although I must admit some disappointment... for an NC-18 rated story there wasn't a whole lot of NC-18 action. Not that it's necessary... but certainly makes a B/J story funner and hotter. Then again, now I have a PWP fic running through my mind involving kilts and chocolate... Love the story!

Author's Response:

Thanks :-) I'm really glad you enjoyed this story! The inspiration was actually a cake that we made for 'Dar-mas Day' (that is February 12th - Darwin's Birthday'). It was a combination of Noah's Arch, the Voyage of the Beagle, and dinosaurs (there were a fair few paleontologists present). I thought it would be fun to explore other cake ventures... I'm not entirely sure what my muse was doing when the kilt inspiartion came, but it works ;-) I also know some theology students who would really appreciate Emmett's cakes :-)

True, there is no hardcore NC-18 material in this story (although it is explicitly implied, and hence the rating). I'm not a huge shipper of porn-without-plot fics - I think sex has its place, and it's not nessisarily in every B/J fic ever written. I didn't want to throw the first part of the story away for a steamy sex scene that would have detracted from the first half. I write sex if it fits and if it feels right - in this story I felt it would be more effective if it was simply implied and left to the reader's imagination. But that's juts my style. *shrugs*

Thanks again for reading, and for your wonderful review! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this :-D

Interesting. Personally I never thought that B & J could stop loving each other and Justin would never give up... but something clearly happened that put the two at odds and made them not stay in contact even though they were ready to get married years before. And it seems from parts of the story (within B and J) that they still love each other. Something must have happened, and I hope that one of the future chapters will explain whatever that was. Although they both seem to be ridiculously stubborn and refuse to make an effort where the other is concerned.

And I realize that being part of an escort service is not the same as a whore, and he probably only sells time and company, anything more intimate is personal and not a service sold. However, if Justin thinks Brian thinks that, he clearly has lost all ability to understand and read Brian, and seems to not want to fix that. I don't think Justin would give up all that easily if he still loved Brian, and he must think Brian really doesn't love him and gave him up easily if he's not fighting for Brian. They both also seem to have the completely the wrong idea about each other, not that that is uncommon for these two... anyway, you said the whole story is done, but you're posting it slowly... I'll be very interested to see what happened between these two to pull them so completely apart from each other. And how they will get back together again... as I am hoping that will be what happens in the end.

Author's Response:

Personally, I'd like to think that B/J would have stayed together. That's what my first story was about. This one shows what might have happened if things didn't go as planned.

I will be posting every couple of days or so, just to give people a chance to read the chapters before the next one is up.  Thank you for commenting.

Wasn't sure what to expect there, but that was short, simple, and oh so sweet and romantic and cool... and I like the setting, it works in that simple Brian Kinney way... not too much emotion and excess, but absolutely every emotion showing anyway. Awesome! Any more stories like this come to mind, feel free to post, I'll read! Laura :)

Fuckin' awesome! :)

Absolutely perfect! I love the whole crossover thing you've got going and how it all ties together... and even though Eric has only been in it once so far, and quickly, I like where you've got him and Sookie's relationship, too. Justin should fit right in at the Blood Ball... provided that everyone knows he belongs to Justin and Justin sticks close. Knowing the Blood Ball that Sookie was invited to, it would be all too easy for a human with uniquely delicious blood to be pursued too much... especially by the wrong vampire.

Oh, and I have to say I love your description of Ted... perfect! He's a sweetheart and would be a real catch in a society that prized consideration and chivalry. Can't wait for more of this story!

Death isn't easy for the living to go through, not to mention it can make some think about their own mortality... but like Dumbledore says: "To the well orgaznized mind, death is but the next great adventure."

That was brilliantly done... and again, so beautiful!

Part of me couldn't see Brian doing this, but if he did... he would definitely go over the top for Justin, showing him how much he loves him, while threatening anyone within listerning and viewing range with death threats if they ever repeat him showing anything. Amazing story!

I'll be very interested in seeing where you go with this, and where Elise comes from. Of course, no matter how long Justin stayed in New York, he would always love Brian, and if Brian had broken all ties with Justin, then Justin would want to find someone else... until Brian got his head out of his ass and realized he was being an idiot... or until Justin came back, for whatever reason, and knocked some sense into Brian. I tried to prepare myself to read this... this part always gets me, no matter what version I watch or read (even the Muppet Christmas Carol).  Didn't prepare me enough though, I'm still wiping the tears.

Amazing chapter. Very well written, even if Dickens did have a tendency for melodramatics, it certainly fits... and again you've woven the brilliance of Dickens novel and the dynamic characters of Liberty into this stunning Christmas story. And having Melanie as the Grim... pure genius my dear!

And Justin seeing Brian... and Brian's reaction... whew! Wow! I can't wait for the next chapter, to see what your creative and imaginative mind comes up with!

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! I have to admit that the story seemed to write itself in many ways and I was just as devastated writing this chapter as I have been each time I've reread it.  Melanie... I love her character so much right now. I thought Brian really needed a spirit to guide him through things and a silent Grim like Dickens wrote just wouldn't play here. I also needed a little lightness in this darkest of chapters and the interplay with her seemed to help. I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter! Jules

Awesome! Amazing! Beautiful... I can't think of enough words to describe how wonderful this story, and this chapter was. You've truly captured the spirit of Christmas, and the sense of joy, wonder, hope and love that should come with the holidays.

Again you've brought me to tears with such a moving and inspiring story, but tears of joy this time.

Thank you so much for sharing this story, as short as it was, it was truly enjoyable, entertaining and beautiful. And I must say that the ending was brilliant, including the comment about Tiny Tim and Scrooge... perfectly woven in to capture the classic story, but from Brian/Justin's perspective... amazing!

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your kind words! This story was a true labor of love, so I'm very happy that it has been so well recieved. I've found myself becoming a bit of a Scrooge around the holidays in recent years. This story let me recapture some of the magic of Christmas for myself. If it did the same for others, then I really feel like it was more than worth the effort. Thanks again! Jules

Interesting and intriguing... very different from the usual they meet, break up and meet again and stay together.

I'll be very curious to read the rest... and I'm definitely looking forward to reading where you go and how you get there.

Thank you! Yeah, I've had those stories before. Figured I'd try something different this time, lol. <3

OMG... where to start this review. So I got the email alert for FF, so I read it there, but on my phone, and I hate "writing" a review without an actual keyboard. So I knew I would need to leave a review when I got home. So here I am, clicking on MW and the first thing I see is that banner... wow! Be still my heart. Good lord, KP, I love that banner, so absolutely perfect and made me want to re-read the chapter with those exact images in my head... whew!

Ok, on to the review of the actual story. You've done it yet again, my friend, I loved this chapter and I think you captured everyone perfectly! I truly feel for Justin, but at the same time I feel for Brian too. We knew he let his other head do the talking, too much at times. I can see a number of things happening next, but I will be exceedingly curious as to where you go. Hopefully Emmett will prove himself a good friend and good observer that we know he is. And I hope you have something deliciously evil planned for Jared when everyone eventually finds out what he's been saying and they all confront him.

I know eventually everything will work out, but I so enjoy following the amazing journey's you layout for us to follow blindly and oh so willingly. I can't wait for more.

Cheers, Laura :) xoxo

Author's Response:

Hi, Laura!  "We knew he let his other head do the talking, too much at times."  Love that line - ha!  So true in Brian's case - open mouth, insert foot!  But not to fear, I will get them all straightened out, and Jared will get his just reward for all his anger and duplicity.  And I really liked the way the banner came out, too - so much better than the first one, I think.;)  Thank you for the compliment - and thanks for reading and for the comments.  I truly appreciate all the support that you give me, Laura.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

OMG! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this at all, it wasn't on purpose, honest. I like totally forgot, seriously, I was so intent on reading that I completely forgot to review. Oh... and *gasp* I don't think I reviewed your other stories either... which I definitely will, provided I don't forget again. ;)

Anyway, there's something strangely unique and truly entertaining about watching Tricky's interaction with Brian, and of course, with Justin and Gus. I absolutely love the comparison's between the "two blondes" LOL! So funny and clever, and bizarely similar. I could totally see these scenes completely written into the show, you've nailed the characters, and I love it!

And the previous chapter with "Cujo" finding his "new chew toy" that was too friggin' hilarious. It reminded me of a story I read quite a while ago about a very young Gus finding the "big boy toy box". ... It took me a little while to get the yellow submarine (and susequent yellow everything else) reference, but I figured it out, and thought duh! Oh well, I'm tired, what can I say?

Brilliant story my friend, absolutely amazing as usual, your talent and imagination knows no bounds, and I happily and gladly follow and enjoy your fantastic stories!

Cheers, Laura :)  xoxoxo

Author's Response:

Laura!  You must have heard the little hamster wheel squeaking in my head, because I was thinking about you!  I was getting concerned abou twhere  you went, Sweetie, so I'm so glad to hear from you.:)  I always love to hear your thoughts.  I'm so happy that you enjoyed my little Easter tale; there really is a dildo called a "golden vein," BTW.  I just hope my parents never check my web history on this computer or they'll wonder what I'm up to - ha!  I think Brian might be warming up to Tricky, and come summer when he and Gus come back to visit I have a sneaking suspicion he just might play a key role in something Brian needs to have done (how's that for a teaser?  LOL!).

Thanks again for the comments, dear friend; always a delight to hear from you.  I hope they'll be some of your own wonderful stories coming up soon.  Take care -  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Interesting ending you have there... that would be an intriguing tale if you wanted to do a sequel, or AU (this year or next). Before I mention anything further about the story, I HAVE to say something about the banner... beautiful and amazing! I loved the images you chose; there's no way you can see Brian smile and not smile back, but I love that they're more recent photos... absolutely perfect!

Okay, now the story... as usual Kim, it's amazing. Although certainly much sillier than your other current stories, and not as much smut as other stories either. But that's okay because we all need some light-hearted fun between our two favorite beautiful men. I've often tried to do this with my stories, but my mind always goes to the steamy scenes without fail. Of course no one's complaining. ;) And I have tons of fun writing... and I have tons of fun reading your stories, no matter what's going on.

I was almost expecting this to be a bit more supernatural with an actual ghost or something more than racoons, but that could be because I've been watching too much TV that has a supernatural feel to them. I really liked the little moment of Brian seeing a ghost though, and being someone who loves ghost stories, I would love more of that background story, whatever it might be. I have ideas in my head already... unless this is somewhat in honor of "Fertile Ground".

Anyway, brilliant story, my friend and I definitely look forward to more from you, whatever you decide to write!

Cheers, Laura :) xoxoxo

Author's Response:

Hi, Laura!  I always look forward to your comments, my friend; thank you for all the time and effort you put into them.:)  It WOULD be interesting to delve into Britin's history sometime; thanks for the idea!  I may have to consider that.  I DO enjoy that sort of story - that's why I always thought what confused_bliss is writing about with "Somewhere in Time" would be so perfect for them.  I had the same thought, but she beat me to it - aargh!  LOL!  Anyway, thanks for the compliment on the banner, too!  I enjoy creating those, although I'm not nearly as talented as some others are.  I would love to have Photo Shop, but in the meantime, I make do with creating them in Microsoft Word and then transferring the finished product over to Publisher to save it as a photo.  I'm glad that you liked it.  I did think the font type was perfect for a Halloween story.:)

And yes, not much smut here - I leave that to you, the expert; you are the consummate writer when it comes to steaminess between the boys.:)

Thanks again for all your support, Laura; as always, I will look forward to your own updates and any stories you may give us in the future.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

HI!

So wonderful to see a new story from you, my friend. Busy much? What is that, 4 WIPs? Not that I can say much, I think I have 2 or 3 that actually aren't being written at the moment. One day soon I will continue. So happy to hear that this one is complete and you tease you, you're giving us a bit at a time... naughty girl! ;)

Love the bet, though. I always knew that if one person from the group could give Brian a run for his money it would be Emmett. Especially during the time he was dating Drew, he was so confident and funny, and hot (and I usually didn't find Emmett hot, definitely cute, but that was the first time I thought he was hot).

Of course I love AU's, especially yours, and I absolutely can't wait for more! The thought of Justin being the dance instructor, and Brian loosing the bet, can't wait to see the background and eventual story with those!

Only one problem with the story... I have to go to FF.net and find this story so I can sign up for story alerts. ;)

Cheers, Laura :) xoxoxo

Author's Response:

Hi, Sweetie!  I noticed you already did that; thanks.   I know if you favorite an author on MW, an alert shows up that there's a new story posted, but I think you're right; I don't think it does that when you UPDATE a story.  Hmmm...sounds like Bob might need to do some programming for that (if it's possible).  I'll try to ask him about that.:)  If I get my arm twisted, I might post another chapter tonight.  There'll be 19 in all.  Thanks for reading and for the comments; you know I always look forward to your thoughtful feedback.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Oh, and if you don't count this one, I have three WIPS right now; with my job that's about the most I could manage and still update fairly regularly.  But I WILL update "Stallion" in the next few days - promise!  I've got over 10,000 words of that one written, but I'll probably have to break it up into two parts.:)

You did it again my dear... another work of brilliance! For a story so short and simple, it was so sweet and tender and heart-breakingly beautiful. Cried my eyes out a bit when I finished this, not so much for his losing his father, but the loss of what could have been, what should have been; knowing that one of the people who were supposed to love and support you no matter what couldn't get past their own screwed up views to be the parent they should have been. Knowing his father would never get to witness his happiness and marriage and whatever family they make... and possibly, albeit briefly, vengefully hoping that he's looking down now and has realized something, anything, that he exists somewhere, being treated, if only for a moment, exactly how he treated you, and knowing exactly how you felt at his hands, at his words.

That was a bit dark, wasn't it? I didn't have to do through what Justin went through, but I completely understand having a father that doesn't like or love you. Let's just say my own father was like a cross between Craig and Jack... lovely, huh? He was never physically abusive, and I'm glad I wasn't born a man, because I would have been gay and possibly would have been disowned (at least by him). And there are moments that I hope he exists somehow, somewhere, realizing how wrong he was and how wasted his life was, the only positive contribution he made was me, and I'm pretty sure I have more genetics from my mom than him.

Anyway, enough melancholy and sadness. Amazing story, my dear!

Cheers, Laura :) xoxo

Author's Response:

Hi, my dear friend; as always, I'm so grateful for all your thoughtful comments.  I thought, what a great way to show others what Craig would never reveal by broadcasting it all over his gravestone.  And yes, I, too, think about what happens after we're gone.  Do we somehow have the capability of seeing what's going on before us down on Earth?  (Or should I say UP in his case!).  If so, he probably was rolling over in his grave as Justin and his husband kissed in front of him.  (I thought that was a nice touch.).  I'm sorry to hear that you had a similar situation with your own father; what a shame that we can't somehow license parents based on their qualifications (or lack thereof).

Thank you so much for reading, Laura; and thank you for all the consistent support and encouragement you give me.:)  It is greatly appreciated.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

We can all use some fluffy shmoopiness from time to time.

First time I saw that episode I recognized Brian leaving his door open was very telling... it was no wonder Brian was such a prick in the following episode. Justin had stopped reading Brian, couldn't understand what wasn't said, and while he didn't deserve Brian's coldness, there was no reason he shouldn't have seen through it.

Love the story!

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response:

That scene, IMO, is the quintessential B/J moment.  Their entire relationship in an eggshell, the angst, the stubborness, the miscommunication, but above all the love.

Thanks for commenting!

Hello, I'm in the LA area, and will definitely be attending the Con. I'm sure there are others from the LA area attending as well... would it be a good idea to offer carpooling? It will probably depend on the schedule/events of the Con, and where people are coming from, but I think it's a good idea to offer.

It would take someone to organize that, I'm sure, and the people offering to drive should be decent navigators and know that they're car insurance covers passengers (just in case).

Not that I don't have enough going on in my life right now, but I'll offer to help coordinate the carpooling thing. Never organized ride-sharing before, but I'll help if needed, I just wanted to throw out that suggestion if anyone is interested in the idea.

Thanks & Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response:

thanks Laura, I am sure people will agree to this idea. you are welcome to organize it. Looking forward to see you there!

Weird, interesting, hot, entertaining and bizarre. Definitely a bit different for you, my friend, but nonetheless wonderful. I didn't read the prequel to this (or the stories that inspired this), although I have read some of Yvonne's stories.

The woman in this is totally crazy, although, in a way, I can completely understand. We've all imagined it when we write or read fanfiction, but if there were such a real couple we wouldn't invade their privacy just for our own pleasure. However, seeing G & R together, I will definitely say that there is nothing that beats seeing something like that in person, even if it was just a look. I would feel like a menacing voyeur if I were in the position of the woman in this story. And that part with the brooch at the end was exceedingly creepy, my dear. Although it would be very funny if when she gets back home to realize that it actually hadn't been working because she forgot to turn it on (with being asleep and then tied up and all).

If I had been writing this I would have had Brian be a bit more vindictive, but in a Brian-esque way... I would have had Brian give her a kiss goodbye at the airport, followed by the most menacing look he could come up with and say something like "don't ever fucking come back". On the other hand, if her psyche is just crazed enough, that might not work at all, and would just seem like a strange invite to come back. I definitely would have had Brian comment to Justin (at the airport in front of her) about going home and having all the locks and security codes changed to every building Brian owns, along with one final threat/reminder of a restraining order if they ever see her again.

Anyway, great story as always, love! Weird, but amazing. And I understand about being inspired by other stories on here; not only have your stories inspired a couple of mine, but I've been inspired by a couple of others to write other stories. One of these days I'll write a Sherlock story, course if I post it here I'll have to ask for a new category, because there isn't one.

Cheers, Laura :) xoxoxo (Can't wait till June!)

Author's Response:

Hi, Laura!  Thank you for reading and for the always thought-provoking comments.:)  Yes, this was definitely a different departure for me.  I wish I had thought about the brooch malfunctioning when she got home; I would have written that in. That WOULD have been poetic justice, wouldn't it?  I'm not sure quite WHAT got into me to write this - ha!  But now that I'm 'back to normal' (well, as normal as I can get!), I'm heading back to the much-neglected "Heart's Desire."  I AM working on it - have about half written - but I'm struggling a little, so this one popped in my head and I ran with it.

I'm definitely looking forward to June, too!  It will be so great to finally meet you and the others!  Take care and see you soon!  *Hugs* ~Kim

Hey, So, I've been crap at reviewing lately, so I'll start by saying you have me addicted to this story. Although I can honestly say that I seriously hope you don't turn this into a positive story. I know it happens in real life (I have a cousin who is positive) so I completely understand if you did, but considering this is fiction, then I chose happy endings without the crap of real life. Although I'll continue reading no matter what you do, because I really do like this story and it apparently has a long way to go before it ends.

Anyway, I have a couple of suggestions, or questions... comments, I guess. Now I'm trying to remember what they were. I know my first one was if you wanted to work this into the story somehow, if Lindsay needs a little encouragement to not give up and if she actually won't be able to walk, or even if she needs to relearn to walk, then maybe she needs to be reminded of a certain person that can help. I can't remember her name, but the quadrapalegic artist that Lindsay introduces to Justin in 205 to help him get over his own injury might be the right person to meet with Lindsay to remind her that yes life sucks, but you can't give up. I don't remember her name (but if you want to use her and want me to find the name, I'll be happy to, just let me know).

My other suggestion is probably to have Brian negative. Of course I totally get why Justin was pissed... it wasn't so much that Brian escaped responsibility in tricks and drugs, it was the fact that he chose that, over Justin when Justin already felt that Brian was avoiding him. If Brian could get over his own self-doubt over being a parent and thinking that Justin needs to prove himself to himself (and probably thinking that Justin will find someone better, even though it's an irrational fear) then he would have accepted that Justin was there for him that night and that Brian didn't need to run off and get drunk and trick. I can't see Brian being careless, at all, though.

I hope that everything works out in the end, and my main suggestion was that artist from 205... then the whole thing with HIV appeared, and I had to comment on that, too. Although knowing Justin and the situation it will probably take more than just one chapter to sort out. I will be following and anxiously waiting the next chapter, as I have been since I found this story.

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading, and thank you for the lovely comment! I actually just rewatched 2.05 myself - you make some good points about that artist...I wonder where she would be now, four years later...

Thanks for the idea - I'm not sure if it'll fit in anywhere but I appreciate the suggestion.

:)

Hello,

Well I can't narrow down a time frame, not to mention I'll have to re-read my Edgar Allen Poe, but I will be tackling "The Raven". I've actually wanted to do a story with Brian as Satan for a while, and I think I can incorporate those ideas with Poe's works easily. I've only ever written one fantasy before, but I think I will be writing one again soon.

With family, work, school and the rest of life I don't want to state a time to finish and then not follow through, but I will write it when I can. Just wanted to let you know that your ideas have been heard.

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response: Yay! Thanks for taking up one of the plot bunnies, Laura. And no time frame needed, just glad some of these are getting picked up. All I ask is that you mention the plot bunny was from me. :) Have fun! Deb

So I was inspired to write a story based on JR's crush on Justin. I don't usually take other's plot bunnies as story ideas have to make sense to me and my ideas of Brian and Justin, but I got an idea of how JR's crush could fit into a version of Brian and Justin, so I gave it a try. It's not done yet, but I've posted the first 4 chapters. It's called someone has a crush. Not that creative a title, but I did give you credit for the main idea.

Cheers, Laura :)

Author's Response: I'm so glad you were inspired to write one of my plot bunnies! This is actually one of my favorites, but I could only come up with 1 or 2 scenes which is why I didn't try it myself. It always felt like it should be at least a few chapters long. Can't wait to read the finished version! I'm sure you will do it justice! :) Deb PS: I kinda like the title!

Very interesting beginning and story idea, my friend... I like it. I can completely sympathize with Justin. I go to the beach I need to start applying sunblock days ahead of time just to make sure. My skin has 3 shades: white, freckled and red as a lobster. I hate sunburns, and I couldn't imagine being a lifeguard that wasn't at an indoor pool. Definitely looking forward to where you're going.

You know I love your stories and I don't think I've ever said anything negative or made any suggestions about something that might need to be changed. I apologize in advance for a correction that I just have to make. The anal semantic part of my mind has to point out that you have Craig's alma mater being UCLA Berkeley. Being a California native and very familiar with colleges here, on the west coast, and knowing the colleges as well I think I safely correct and suggest. First of all, the two colleges are either UCLA or UC Berkeley. They are both UC (University of California) colleges, one is at Los Angeles, one is at Berkeley. Second, I think I see where you're going with Craig. Just cause they live in Cali doesn't mean that he'll like Justin's being gay, if he doesn't already know. I know that the show mentioned Dartmouth, which is a very business oriented school, even if they do have an art department. However Berkeley and UCLA are very well known for all disciplines, especially fine arts, graphic arts, and performing arts. They are both very well known for liberal arts, as well. They have great business colleges as well, and a whole bunch of other disciplines that would be very long to list here. I had to mention this because I believe most graduates of Berkeley (as it's known) would be open to any discipline, including art, and wouldn't think art as useless. I think UCLA graduates would think the same way. Obviously no matter how open and accepting a college campus is, there can still be close minded bigots who think the arts are pointless. Working on a college campus and knowing others from other colleges, including workng with graduates of Berkeley and UCLA, I'm pretty sure almnus from either college would have no problem with fine arts.

You don't have to change this at all, I don't mind, but in case you wanted to I would suggest Pepperdine, Claremont Graduate University, UC Santa Barbara, or USC. Berkeley and UCLA have outstanding business programs, and their graduates are excellent. However, graduates of UCLA and Berkeley would be more supportive of the arts and wouldn't think you couldn't make a living in art. The others I mentioned I could see having a close-minded view on the arts and think that you have to be business, medical or law to make a living. I could see Craig going to one of those schools as well. I can't see Craig going to UCLA or Berkeley. They have great business programs, but I just can't see Craig enjoying being at either campus, they are too open, accepting and encouraging of all students and disciplines.

Justin would have no problem in going to either school. Berkeley is such an open-minded campus they've probably had a gay-straight student group longer than most other schools. Plus some of the most famous and talented actors and directors that never went to college went back to UCLA for get degrees. I could also see Justin going to an art college, California has some amazing art colleges. But an alumni of UCLA or Berkeley woudn't typically have a problem with their child going to an art college. I could see an alumni of the other colleges I listed could have a problem with anyone who chooses the arts over something more reputable and useful, like business.

Now that I've "talked" your ear off, and given you more info on California colleges than you've ever wanted... :D No offense is meant of course. I can't wait to read more of this story and you can do whatever you want with it, I just wanted to mention what was on my mind based on what I know about colleges in my state, and because I know a lot of college people.

On a slightly different note good luck in the Summer Challenge, its awesome to see you posting for it. So glad the deadline was extended, gives me time to finish mine.

Cheers, Laura :) xoxo

Author's Response:

Hi, Laura! Well, I don't think my response will rival the length of your comments, but I'll give it a try (on second thought, noooo, I don't think so - LOL!). Thanks for the tour of California colleges; I think I can safely say that I know much more about them now than I did before.;)  I will make a change to the college based on your suggestions.  Now I'm wondering how accurate I will be with a little tour of the Malibu area coming up; hopefully I won't mess that up too much (if I do, I hope you'll allow me a little artistic license there).

Thanks for reading this part - I will have another part at least to this up shortly.  And I'll be looking forward to more of your own story as well.  *Hugs*  ~Kim
