Date: April 13, 2011 Title: Chapter 16: Chapter 7 The Third Week Part 2 The Wedding What a great job you've done with this chapter. I want to be friends with the twins! Loved the toast. I'm sad that the brothers all had to sacrifice so much, but that proves their love for Justin. I'm happy the spell was broken, and I'm extremely curious about the painting. But I suppose I should focus on the most pressing moment and say...How could you end it there you mean mean man?! LOL. I knew from chapter one that this may not end happy but I can't help but pray and hope that Justin remains foam-free. ;p This truly is one of my favorite fictions. It's such a joy and worth the read. :) Author's Response: That WAS quite mean of me wasn't it? I debated a bit with myself whether or not to end it there but then I remembered how mean, mean, mean the author of The Great Divide was being with his/her evil cliffhangers and so I went for it. It's already drawn me in, and has left me anxious for the emotional journey to come. I find it refreshing to read a story where sexual attraction is not first on the list of what's drawing our boys together. Unfortunatley, it's not a happy incident, but that makes it an even better read. They're starting deeper, Justin is going to see Brian's vulnerabilities first. This is a very interesting dynamic. Carl is on hell of an interrogator, and poor Brian. Regret is not a pleasant thing to feel, and for him neither is love. The deeper the love the harder it hurts. Really wonderful chapter. Date: April 23, 2011 Title: Chapter 4: Focusing On Priorities Well, Detective Kinney deserved a clock across the jaw for his remarks about the bashing. :P Good for Justin to stand up for himself! (& Jennifer too, love her). Aw well, Brian always manages to say the worst possible things whenever he doesn't know what the heck is going on or what he's feeling. It's crazy how much I love this story at only four chapters. Such suspence wondering where it all will lead. :) Author's Response: Yeah...why is Kinney always such a smart aleck when he's a detective in both our stories? LOL! I think he's mainly trying to convince himself that he doesn't trust Justin and is warring with that fact versus his adamant belief that there is no such thing as ESP. Of course, that may very well change when Gus is placed in danger. I will probably delve a little into the killer's motives in the next chapter when Justin starts to have some more horrifying visions. I must start out by saying that you have such a talent for the written word, especially when it comes to portraying this story through the eyes of a child. I eventually just made them both look like Ben, because...reasons. ;P I always love a jealous, vexed Brian. Wonder what happened with the landing. Author's Response: OMG, what you just said, well that is also the only way I could deal with the Kip/Ben twin thing. I never found Kip handsome, yet Ben was certainly at the front of the queue when they handed out looks. However, I know not everyone feels the same way so I was interested in the reader's mindset when they read they were identical. Oddly enough not too many had them both Kip look-alikes. LOL Vexed, that is one of my top ten favourite words. Okay, admit it, when someone writes top ten in relation to a B/J fic you don't expect the following utterance to be 'favourite words'. For this story I was inspired by seeing a local commuter train and wondered how it would be for Brian and Justin to travel together daily. As much as I am OK with the 'sex first - date later' way they did it in the series, I can also see that developing respect for each other over time, platonically, would still lead to a great romantic relationship. Michael, for me, is an important part of Brian. He might be whiny, but - no, not the villian. The scene with Emmett was important for the reader to know what was on Brian's mind. I thought that Em was a good choice for a sounding board. The map started out as a device for me, and then I decided to incorporate it into the graphics for the story. Justin ‘helps’ Brian with a new client’s account.
This is a What If story. What If Justin did not meet Brian during his Senior year. What if he was bashed for a different reason. Do you remember that one moment in the show when Justin wished he had died from the bashing...when he lost it and pushed his mother down? What if those suicidal thoughts went further, but a guardian angel steps in to give him a glimpse of what he will miss if he dies? Will it be enough for our young man to fight for his life? Or is it too late to change his destiny? This story is unbeta'd at the moment because my beta is off to see Randy in the Berkshires. That is more important. LOL!
