Brian and Justin try to cope with life apart - with the marriage that did not happen and the love that would not die

Debbie's underlying resentment of Brian because he didn't love Michael the way she wanted him to was spot on. I have never heard anyone else give this as an explanation for her constant penchant to blame Brian for everything that  goes wrong in Michaels life. It makes so much sense. Emmett's loyalty to Brian has always been there just somewhat hidden and I was glad to see it come to the surface.  I feel sorry for McLaren because I think his heart will get broken, but he is smart enough to know he could never replace Justin. When I saw that this chapter had been posted I wasn't going to read it right away. I was going to hold off for a couple of days because like all the other chapters I never want them to end, but like trying to put off eating a favrorite dessert it just isn't possible to put off reading your chapters. I will anxiously await the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for understanding the point I'm trying to make.  I always liked Debbie, but it always seemed obvious to me that there had to be some reason that she was always so eager to condemn Brian.  (as in "I think he really might love this kid.  As much as he CAN, anyway."  What the hell is that, when she knows what he endured as a kid - and she also knows that he spent his youth wataching over Michael.  So this just makes sense to me.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment and your encouragement.

Beautifully written as always. I think Chris always knew he couldn't compete with Justin for Brians love, but feels the pain of never having known that kind of love. I sincerely hope that Justin is now strong enough to hang on and not let Brian push him off any more cliffs. If anybody can break down that wall of guilt it will be Justin. I look forward to the fireworks coming. I also look forward to when Teddy realizes what he has done or at least has tried to do. I never cared for Ted in the series for the way he always talked down to Emmett and Justin and I really don't care for him now. Okay I have to take a deep breath now and tell myself this is just a story. How one tv show that has been off the air for five years can spawn such emotion is something I will never understand, but am so glad I rented that first season dvd because I was bored.

I loved this chapter. I love that Brian was brave enough to let Justin know how he felt. I loved the passage where Conrad tells Brian off and they end on a positive note. Don't ever doubt your ability to tell a good strong story. You have a gift and I for one am glad you share it with us.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for this wonderful comment Suse!  :-)  I'm very happy that you like my story.  I love these characters and try my hardest to do them justice.   Comments like this validate my efforts.  Thank you.

I dont know how I managed to miss this story but apparently I did. Just finished reading it. Absolutely loved it. Such a change to see Brian in a vulnerable state, even though you tried to hide him behind his usual brash, snarky self. You put just enough angst to keep me reading late into the night. Few moments of tears as well. Have always enjoyed your writing and hope to see more of it. Thanks for sharing your gift with us.

Author's Response:

Hi, Susan! Thank you for reading this story and for your kind words. I always love to get feedback, no matter how old the story, and this one was one of my favorites to write. I'm so glad you liked it. I still love these boys and love writing about them. I have several new story ideas that I have started on, so hopefully one day I will get one completed.  Thanks again for reading this one and especially for taking the time to leave your encouraging comments; I really appreciate that. :)  ~Kim

Please tell me you are going to complete this story. I never read stories  that aren't completed because it's sad to enjoy something and have it end with no conclusion. However, I have now read "Can I Come Back Home To You" for the second time and just didn't want it to end so I started this sequel. You have a real gift for story telling and excellent character development. These stories have made me laugh, and cry and even wake up in the middle of the night to read just one more chapter. So please, please continue and complete this awesome fic!
