I could feel the nerves as they got ready to tell JR about Gus and Jason. Lol I could picture their faces when JR told them she knew that really cracked me up. I’m so glad that she was happy for them. I do hope the two boys live together for college and be happy.

Author's Response:

At last Gus & Jason can be totally open with their relationship with everyone that they care about.  It will make for an interesting future together, which I simply had to write about in a sequel  I just couldn't let all these lovely people go.  LOL!  Thank you so much for all these delightful comments that you so generously gave me again.  I am very grateful  Warmest hugs, Grammy

Poor Brian I could feel his shaking from here I think I would have been the very same if that were my child. Then good on the boys for not letting Terry take their night away and carry on. They were so beautiful and their lovemaking proved that. Tender and beautiful 💕

Author's Response:

As the title of this chapter says.... the best revenge is not to let evil destroy the happiness these lovers so richly deserve, and that is exactly what our boys did.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 06:33 PM · On: A Nightmare Revisited

I’m so glad that the boys decided to go to Prom together. It should be ok for them to show how they feel for each other and be able to dance together without judgement. That evil Terry I want to grrrrrr him how dare he do what he did. Thank goodness that Brian turned up when he did. I do fear this may cause ptsd for our boys though.

Incredible work x

Author's Response:

The main reason I wrote this chapter was to give Brian the chance to finally put any lingering guilt he felt over not saving Justin to rest once and for all.  Now he knows he was able to save someone he loves so much and that makes all the difference for the future.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 03:30 PM · On: A Day of Fun and Fury

That was so much fun for them all they each had something they enjoyed and won at the park. I loved the moment behind the sandbags but now I’m extremely worried for the boys over Terry seeing what went on. What on earth will he do x

Author's Response:

Sadly, there will always be a Terry who you have to watch out for, even when simply enjoying a fun day with your loved ones.  But at least they were all unaware of his presence and it didn't spoil their day together.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 02:47 PM · On: A Bowl of Cherries Before the Pits

Lol they are brave having nooky in the house with the parents downstairs. They really are in love and exploring it with gusto huh. I do fear what Terry night do if he finds out. I have a feeling it’s goibg to be very very bad.

Excellent work x

Author's Response:

It was important to show how the relationship between Gus and Jason has grown with every new day.  They will need the good times in case, as is inevitable, bad times come around.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I am so proud of both sets of boys Gus and Jason really made up the right way and the fact that they felt comfortable enough to talk to Brian and Justin. Brian and Justin did themselves they spoke so well to them and made them feel at ease. That is so important because so many wouldn’t get that. They are so lucky to have them in their corner willing to help and willing to help talk to Jason’s parents.

Ypu did yourself proud writing this chapter, I’m SO PROUD of you d83;a039;💗🌸💕d84;a039;💜

Author's Response:

This is such a wonderful compliment, Vicki.  I tried to imagine how I would handle a situation like this if it was my son, so your approval means a great deal to me.  Thank you so very much.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 09:48 AM · On: The 'Talk'-Part One

Lol JR is like Justin on sittels and coke lol I can picture Brian’s face listening to her. She would definitely leave you with a headache and dizzy spells.

Now that hat is what you call good parenting. Brian and Justin truly approached Gus was perfect they handled the situation in the best way and I do hope that they can help Gus and Jason work it out as I think they are soul mates x

Author's Response:

I really do enjoy writing for JR.  I think she is a delightful young girl.  I'm glad she amused you.  As for Gus, he has the best parents one could ask for in a situation like he is now facing.  Young love is such a delicate thing and needs the proper nurturing to survive.  That's why this chapter had to have a part two.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 09:21 AM · On: The Morning After

I can imagine how surprising Justin was to see the boys in the same bed in an intimate position. Lol I loved Brian’s reaction when Justin told him. I really hope the two young boys work this out after what happened after they woke up. They are meant to be and it would be awful if they didn’t. So cute together.

Brilliant work x

Author's Response:

Gus and Jason are extremely lucky that it was Justin who discovered their new relationship.  If anyone will know how to handle this situation, it is Justin and Brian.  They have plenty of experience themselves.  LOL!  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 08:57 AM · On: The Turning Point

That was so wonderful of the guys to bring the two friends for the kids. They had such a fantastic time didn’t they until the accident 😢 but wow Gus and Jason d83;a039;d83;a039;d83;a039; I’m super duper happy to see this it’s like aBrjan abc Justin story again so sweet and beautiful xx

Author's Response:

Brian and Justin would do anything for their kids, including inviting their friends on a family vacation.  And in this case, it has proven to be the best thing that could have happened for Gus.  It will change everything for him in the end.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 22, 2019 08:35 AM · On: Looking Forward to the Holidays

That Terry needs to be taken down a peg or two doesn’t. I’d run over his feet with my wheelchair and go ooops sorry and laugh as I wheeled away. I think Gus likes Jason as Jason likes him and I hope they talk. I’m sure Brian and Justin would talk to Jason and guide him as best they can. Teenage boys do need guidance don’t they.

Fantastic work x

Author's Response:

I was mean enough to give poor Gus his own personal 'Chris Hobbs' in the form of Terry, wasn't I?  But at least Gus has two parents who will have his back no matter what.  Also, this vacation will also reveal a surprise or two.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 21, 2019 04:18 PM · On: Back Home in the Pitts

I’m glad the kids are getting on well so far and that Justin and Brian are as well. It will definitely take time for them all to adjust and the new rhythm of their lives.

Author's Response:

It is a good thing that Brian and Justin have been a part of the kid's lives before this tragedy.  There is already a lot of love there.  Now all they have to do is build on that to become a true family.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 21, 2019 03:13 PM · On: Saying Goodbyes

Wow that’s so hard for the kids to walk away from the home they lived in for so many years and their friends. All that emotion running through their young bodies must be hell for them. I hope they will be ok and not lose contact with their friends.

Author's Response:

Young people are very resilient, but this is more than just a change of parenting.  Their entire lives have been turned around.  They will need time to adjust, and so will brand new parents, Brian & Justin.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 21, 2019 02:56 PM · On: Setting Things Right

Justin’s talk with the kids about Brian really cane from his heart and I could feel it reach the kids as they took it in. Brian needs them just as much as they need him.

Author's Response:

Thankfully, Justin knows the heart of Brian.  All he did was tell the kids the truth so that they could see his heart too.  They will all have to be there for each other now as they navigate their new reality.  Huge hugs, Grammy

All my insides are still in knots for the family. Losing people you love is Devastating. Poor Justin has everything on his shoulders surly he will crack once the dam walls burst when it becomes to much. I hope Brian comes to his senses soon as not only does Justin need him to but the kids. My heart aches for them as their whole world has just changed forever.

Author's Response:

Although it always looks like Brian is the strongest one in their relationship, it is actually Justin who has the most internal strength.  But, of course, he will also need Brian to step up and help support the kids as they grieve this major loss in their young lives.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 21, 2019 01:48 PM · On: The Party's Over!

My blood has run cold and my insides are so knotted  from the gut wrenching pain from this. My heart goes out to them all. To not only have the news of what happened but to actually see the car and the look at scene and officers dealing with it. To then have to face the kids and pass on that news that changes their life. I could feel that emotions so strong that I burst into tears. You really write a powerful chapter here.

Author's Response:

This chapter didn't flow easily for me because I have never (thankfully) had any kind of tragedy like this touch my life.  I just tried to imagine the pain such a thing could cause for those who loved them so dearly.  If it affected you like this then I've done my job, despite how hard it was.  Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Vicki.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: August 21, 2019 12:02 PM · On: A Fun Time Was Had by All

I know I have already read this story but now I’m reading again I’m seeing things I didn’t the first Time. I could feel how happy the girls were at their party and much they appreciated those who came to it. Lol I loved Brian dragging Justin off for a bit of nooky lol 😂 he couldn’t go a whole party without touching his lover in that way. Then the knowing smiles of the girls when they came back made me laugh.

I love Seeing Gus driving his dads and sister and their friends home he looked so grown up.

Omg the girls that was such a shock my heart leapt out of my chest reading that scene.

Fantastic work x

Author's Response:

I believe this is the only time I killed off major characters who are loved, and it wasn't easy.  Of course, it was necessary in order to make parents out of Brian and Justin.  But it was important to also show just how devoted the boys still are to each other because they will need to be in tune with one another as life changes so drastically for them in the future.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Lol I can picture just how happy Mel was getting up at that ungodly hour lol. I could feel excitement of the kids like hyper puppies. JR is so cute with her crush on Brian I loved him mouthing help lol.

Author's Response:

Well now, it has just dawned on me that you've read and commented on this story before.  I can't tell you what an honor it is to have a story be worth reading more than once.  You are the first person to comment twice, and I am so excited to hear what you have to say.  Thank you for your continued support.  It means the world to me.  Huge hugs, Grammy

That is the worst about living in a different country to your friends and family isn’t it. It’s hard when lives get busy to find the time as everyone else to make gatherings for celebrations. I’m delighted Brian are Justin are going and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Author's Response:

I was so excited to see the emails in my inbox telling me that you have taken up this story too, Vicki.  It is one of the very few that I simply couldn't let go of once it was completed.  I fell in love with (well almost) all my new characters as much as the originals.  I hope you will enjoy it enough to want to read the sequel, and I'm now working on the third installment.  It will be a happy celebration in Canada... to begin with.  Brian and Justin enjoy spending time with their extended family.  Huge hugs, Grammy

This was incredible, it moved me so much. I love Jenny’s reaction and the surprised look on all the boys faces I could see it in my head so clearly. I didn’t want this story to end. Fantastic work 💕💕

Author's Response:

I am so happy that you enjoyed this story so much, Vic.  Your comments have been simply wonderful, always bringing a huge smile to my face.  This story has come to an end, but not really.  I hope you will want to check out the sequel, Double Trouble: Graduation, which moves forward 4 years to Gus' graduation from college and JR's graduation from high school.  Both of the young ones have a lot more adventures to look forward to, including both highs and lows.  I would love to know if you like the continuation of their story, including how Brian and Justin deal with all the issues that come up.  Warmest hugs, Grammy

I’m so proud of Brian for how he handled that and Justin as well and the kids. They took charge and that idiot I hope will serve time for what he did.

Author's Response:

This is nearly twenty years after Hobbs succeeded in his actions and paid very little price for it.  Terry is facing a completely different time and place, as he'll soon learn.  Hugs, Grammy

Omg 😮 that was explosive wasn’t it and after the boys had such a great time as well.

History definitely tried to repeat itself, but thankfully Brian was faster this time around and disaster was averted.  This alone will make all the difference for Brian.  Huge hugs, Grammy

That was some amazing birthday treat for the Tyler kids and they all had so much fun. I could see Brian’s face grumbling about the pain lol. Oh dear I’m worried now over what happened with Terry 😱

Author's Response:

Sadly, you have good reason to worry about Terry and his demented thinking, as you'll soon see.  Hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 10, 2019 12:22 PM · On: A Bowl of Cherries Before the Pits

It’s hard for the young boys and I hope that they stay strong and stay together. That Terry better not do anything more to them. What is to come I’m a bit worried for them.

Author's Response:

Unfortunately, Terry will remain a fly in the ointment for our loving couple, but he can't keep them from enjoying their new relationship.  At least not for now.  Hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 10, 2019 08:26 AM · On: The 'Talk'-Part Two

Awe that was excellent and funny and cute and beautiful. I’m so proud of themall for handling that so well. I think the young couple will be fine with the boys behind them giving them support.

Author's Response:

It was very important for all of them to deal with these issues out in the open.  Now everyone can move forward in a positive direction.  Hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 10, 2019 07:57 AM · On: The 'Talk'-Part One

Gus is so lucky to have two wonderful dads and that they get him and are willing to help him and Jason. I truly hope it helps fix their relationship because I think they would be a beautiful couple and one who would last a lifetime. Lol Jenny made me laugh at her whirlwind actions Spinning the boys head at how much she can do at one time. The energy of kids lol.

I’m loving this story so much I’m delaying writing my story Loki think oh I’ll read just one more chapter and that leads to three lol

Author's Response:

JR is definitely a handful.  And in the sequel, you'll learn a lot more about her too.  As for Gus and Jason, they are blessed to have experienced men who understand what they are going through and are more than willing to help them deal with these newfound feelings.  It will be a huge help in the future.

Your words are such a huge compliment to me as a writer.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I didn't know you were a writer too.  I'd love to know what name you write under.  It is really difficult for me to read anymore for health reasons (very poor eyesight, etc), but I'd love to check out your work too.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 10, 2019 07:31 AM · On: The Morning After

Lol I love Justin’s reaction to catching the boys together and then Brian’s reaction to what Justin told him. It was a very parent one and perfect. I do hope Gus and Jason do t break the relationship and that they talk about it so they can be a beautiful couple just like Brian and Justin.

Author's Response:

Brian and Justin's reaction to learning about the actual relationship that is happening with Gus and Jason was a lot of fun to write.  At least, having lived such a thing themselves, they'll be able to help the boys once they are let in on the secret.  Hugs, Grammy

Wow they really had an amazing trip didn’t they and Brian and Justin truly did them proud by remembering to honor their mums on Christmas Day and then to bring their friends on that trip. I was worried for Jason when that big fall happened and I’m glad all is ok. Wow wee that kiss between the friends and then the passion was so beautifully written.

Author's Response:

I wanted to give the family something really joyful to remember and that trip proved to be just what was needed.  I'm thrilled that you approve of the loving scene between Gus and Jason.  First love is such a scary, yet exciting thing.  Thank you again for such wonderful comments, Vic.  Warm hugs, Grammy

Why do I have a bad feeling something badisgoing to happen. If love that the kids made such good friends . I do think Gus has a crush on his friend just as his friend has a crush on him. So cute. I don’t trust Terry though.

Author's Response:

You definitely have good reason to be wary of Terry.  He is going to be such a big thorn in the sides of Gus and his newfound crush, Jason.  And JR has made a very good friend too.  Life is not so bad now that time is passing.  Hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 09, 2019 07:11 PM · On: Back Home in the Pitts

Lol I’m so glad the kids slept through that part of the car journey I just hope they don’t forget what they got up to and ask the kids to clean the car. I can’t imagine how hard it was for the kids to say bye to their life in Toronto and their friends it’s necer easy.

Author's Response:

I thought it was time for a little light-hearted fun after everyone suffered so much pain.  One thing about the young is how resilient they are.  Although they will continue to mourn the loss of their previous lives, they will learn to adjust to the new reality.  So very happy that you are continuing to enjoy my story, Vic.  Thank you for always giving me such wonderful comments.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Tons more tears, I could feel all their emotions and the struggle it is for them to leave the life they know for a new one. I hope the kids best friends can visit them to not lose that contact. Fantastic work x

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your very kind words, Vic.  Anyone who has had to uproot their lives entirely, for whatever reason, knows how difficult it can be, especially for the young, but at least there is a lot of love waiting for all of them in their new lives, along with some new adventures.  Hope you are enjoying their journey.  Warmest hugs, Grammy

I teared up reading this, that emotional chat between the kids and Justin really moved me and then when Brian echoed that chat later on got me right in the heart.

Author's Response:

The beautiful thing about Brian and Justin is how well they understand each other.  Now, being there for each other will make it easier for them to be there for the kids as they learn to live their new lives as a family.  Hugs, Grammy

Reviewer: vic32 (Signed) · Date: June 09, 2019 08:43 AM · On: Changes are Hard

It’s understandable all is all over the place with them all. It’s not an easy situation to be in.  I hope they find the strength to get through it. Justin really is a strong man and one Brian and the kids need right now I just hope they realise that he needs them as well.

Author's Response:

One of the best things about Brian and Justin is that they work so well together, each offering strength when needed.  They will always be a team, which is what the young ones need now more than ever.  Hugs, Grammy

Brian and Justin really are still hot for each other and I love that, it makes my heart sing to see them like that.

Omg 😲 the poor girls 😱

Author's Response:

Brian and Justin will always be hot for each other.  Their love is infinite.  As for the girls, I had never harmed one of the main characters from the show before, but sadly it was necessary for this story.  Thank you for your continued reading and comments, Vic.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I would be excited as well if I was picking them up from the airport and have fun things planned for them. I hope Gus moves back with the boys when he graduates I think he would do well learning from his dads about the business and art if that’s what he wants to do.

Author's Response:

The one thing that is clear here is that there is a strong bond between Brian and Justin with Gus.  That's very important to my story.  Thank you for the great comments, Vic.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I love Brian teasing them like that his banter makes me laugh. I bet Gus would tease his sister to no end if he found out about her crush on his dad. Excellent start to this story.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Vic, and I'm thrilled that you've chosen to read this story.  It is one that is dear to my heart... so much so that I had to write a sequel for it, which I seldom do.  Hope you enjoy the entire story.  Warm hugs, Grammy

This was a great story!!   I think the best part was Brian stopping Terry's attack on Gus.   As sad as it was that he wasn't able to stop Chris' attack on Justin, he was definitely in the right place at the right time to stop Terry, thank goodness.   And Justin was right there as always to calm Brian down and comfort him all over again.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reading this story and your fantastic comments, Cullengirl.  This is one of only two stories that I loved so much I had to write a sequel to it.  I hope you will also want to check out 'Double Trouble; Graduation', which follows the family after Gus graduates from college and JR graduates from high school.  I would love to have your opinion on that story too.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I am so glad you liked this story, Nickknack.  There is actually a sequel to this story which follows the family into their graduations from college and high school.  It is called 'Double Trouble: Graduation'.  I hope you will check it out and find it interesting too.  There is a third installment in the works but I've been delayed in working on it due to life issues, but hopefully it will be completed in the future.  Thank you so much for your lovely comments.  Warm hugs, Grammy

Love the happy ending! See, I was just being silly - this story wasn't scarey after all. Your Jason character was very sweet and hot and a perfect fit for our little family. Altogether nice. Thanks for writing! TAG

Author's Response:

The one thing you can always count on with my stories, Tag, is a happy ending.  I know real life doesn't always offer such a thing, but in my world, my boys always deserve to have it.  I'm glad you liked Jason.  I fell in love with him the moment I conceived of the right man for Gus.  If you want to meet another really great guy, you will find him in the sequel to this story.  I thought JR deserved someone decent too.  Plus you'll get to know a lot more about Gus and Jason and how their lives turn out.  And of course, there is plenty more action for perrenial lovers, Brian and Justin.  Getting older certainly doesn't slow them down.  LOL!  Huge hugs, Grammy

Author's Response:

I always hated how Brian felt so guilty for not saving Justin, although there was nothing he could have done to stop it.  I wanted to give him that second chance.  What better way than to put the other person who meant the most to him in a similar situation and have Brian succeed in protecting the one he loves this time?  Thanks for the comments, Tag.  Huge hugs, Grammy

"The first day as new parents had been successful. No one had a meltdown and both kids were still alive and kicking" - isn't that the best you can really hope for most days? TAG

Author's Response:

I agree wholeheartedly, Tag.  That's especially true when there has been trauma for kids to deal with.  They suffer from it, but so do the adults who love them.  Thank you for the insightful comments.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I love stories where Justin is strong and capable. That's not to say he isn't allowed a moment of weakness now and then, in fact, his being able to admit his small weknesses is a definite strength, and certainly Brian is physically a lot tougher, but I've always seen Justin as the emotionally strong of the pair. You do a great job of showing that here. I liked how Justin lets Brian have his time to fall apart, while Justin deals with stuff and keeps everyone afloat, and then he scoops Brian up, comforts him and makes him face things. Perfectly written. TAG

P.S. I get your decision on the death warning. I just didn't read this before cause it scared me! I couldn't handle one of the boys dying.

Author's Response:

We are definitely of a like mind when it comes to Brian and Justin.  I think one of the reasons they work so well as a couple is that their strengths and weaknesses actually compliment each other perfectly. Together, they are as strong as two people can be, able to handle anything thrown at them by life.  I enjoy pointing that out, especially in such an emotional story like this one.  I'm really glad you are enjoying this story, Tag.  I'm sorry you were scared off, thinking I would killl off Brian and Justin.  As Justin might say...what makes you think I'd ever do that?  LOL!  I even had second thoughts writing 'Memories' because it was hard to let Brian die.  I could only do it by giving them a very long lifetime together first.

I hope you'll let me know later what you think of Gus and JR and their friends in this story.  And thnk you very much for these comments.  They are wonderful.  Huge hugs, Grammy

In my ongoing quest to read your entire Oeuvre I'm starting on this story next. I've never read it before because it has the 'Major Character Death' warning at the beginning. But, scanning the chapter summaries and notes, it doesn't look like the death is going to be either Brian or Justin (big sigh of relief, here). You might want to change that warning to 'Minor Character Death' before you scare off any potential readers. ;). TAG

I certainly do appreciate your thoughts on changing the warning to 'Minor Character Death', Tag.  Unfortunately, I simply can't do it.  The deaths are of Mel and Lindsay, and no way are they 'minor' characters.  I know that many people hated or disliked one or both of them, mostly because of Brian, but I found them fascinating, and the producers gave them just as much 'on-screen' time as the boys (except for Brian, of course).  I completely understood Mel's attitude towards Brian.  She didn't really hate him, but hated the fact that her bi-sexual true love, Linds, would have left her in a heartbeat if Brian had said he wanted her to be his lover.  I think Lindsay did love Mel, but I think she always loved Brian more.  I'm not quite as fond of Lindsay for the same reason as most of us, but I couldn't blame her for her feelings.  What I'm saying here, is that their deaths are 'Major' all the way.  That's why I mention them a number of times far into the story, and even into the sequel.  I do hope you'll like this story and will continue on with the sequel later.  Just remember, I NEVER kill off Brian and Justin, except in two stories...one where Brian was a very, very old man and had been with Justin for a lifetime, and of course in a future story where they were ghosts in their grandson's life.

Whew!  That's one of my longest responses.  LOL!  I mustn't forget to thank you for your comments too, because I truly love getting them from you.  Huge hugs, Grammy

First time well done. I bet you like writing sex scenes more than you let on  :P

Author's Response:

Guilty!  LOL!  As they say, those that can't do, like to teach....or in this case, write about it.  Believe it or not, I've been totally celibate since my divorce 36 years ago.  Thank heavens for my excellent memory combined with a vivid imagination, combined with plenty of reading and viewing experience....not to mention a healthy romantic heart.  I'm so glad you approved of this chapter, JT. Author's Response:

Thank you so much, JT.  This was the trickiest chapter for me.  I don't like writing about violence, but I had to make Terry pull some kind of dastardly deed.  Shades of Prom Nights past.  I'm glad you approved of where I took this.  Huge hugs, Grammy

A story must have an enemy or two, and a new love must face the cliffs of doubt.

Unfortunately there are clones of characters like Chris Hobbs all over the place.  I doubt if that will ever change.  The one thing that bullies can't stop, however, is real love.  So there....you stupid jerks.  Hee hee!  Thanks for the comment, JT.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Great first day back to Pittsburgh; so much going on the kids forgot the lost moms for a bit.

Author's Response:

Youth bounces back pretty quick, but believe me when I say that Mel and Linds are not forgotten.  I would never dishonor them in that way and it isn't in the nature of Gus or JR to forget them.  More on that later.  Thanks again for the comments and the help.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Excellent transistion chapter. All the words are bold font however. Probably MW messing with you like it sometimes does with spacing; that drives me nuts posting chapters.

Author's Response:

I'm really glad you enjoyed this chapter, JTSecrets, and extremely grateful for the heads up on the bold font.  When I posted this story, I was pretty much a novice to computer skills.  I sometimes saw mistakes in posting but didn't know how to fix them.  Sometimes I would discover how to fix them and then not realize that some mistakes hadn't been fixed yet.  That is the problem with having so much posted.  LOL!  If you ever see a mistake that I can correct, please let me know.  I'll be happy to fix it now that I have a little skill under my belt.  Grateful hugs, Grammy

I like the idea of the story mostly about Gus. I smell a good read already.

It wouldn't be a QAF fanfiction without a mental Brian it seems.

That is so true.  No matter how old Brian gets, some of those youthful ghosts still like to linger around and try to mess up his life.  Only now he has a partner who truly understands him.  That makes the difference.  Thanks for the insightful comment, JTSecrets.  Huge hugs, Grammy

I can always count on one of my favorite authors to provide an old story to entertain me. I found this one and the one that follows. Great set up chapter although I felt you gave away too much in the intro; your writing as usual is excellent.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much JTSecrets.  I do have a tendency to be long-winded sometimes, but I always try to let everyone know where all my characters stand in a new story.  I'm glad you are giving this story a try.  I went off my normal routine of centering everything around Brian and Justin, although I guarantee you that Brian and Justin are very much a part of the story, especially in this one rather than the sequel.  I look forward to any comments you may have.  Warm hugs, Grammy

I can't believe no one said anything about her betting on her brothers sexuallity!

Well thats this story done. I started to read double trouble a while back but only made it a few chapters in.

I'm gonna start it tomorrow night from the beginning again. It'll be all new for me, yeahy!!

Poor Brian & Justin. Even years later the prom night still haunts them. I always wonder if it would have been different for them? Brian seemed to be coming around, he turned up to the prom! Oh well there are a lot of 'what if's' in QAF.

But on the plus side lots of sex :)

I loved the rock, paper, sissor. It's just so daft in such a serious moment. It kinda made it seem so much more real, not all angels singing and the earth moved (if you get what I'm saying)

Author's Response: I too have always wondered what would have happened if Brian had reached Terry before it was too late.  The way that Brian said 'later' to Justin as he got in the Jeep, combined with that look on Brian's face as he watched Justin walking away, said a great deal.  I think he just might have made it clear that he wanted Justin as a boyfriend, although I still don't think he could have said the 'love' word just yet.  I'm glad you enjoyed all the loving that went on...I think they all deserved it after all the trauma, don't you?  Believe it or not the rock, paper, scissors idea came from my teenage Granddaughters.  They were arguing over who would do a chore I had asked of them and they finally decided to choose by doing the r, p, s thing.  As I got back to writing the story I thought....what a typical thing for a teenager to think of.  Glad you enjoyed that idea.  Loved your insightful comments as always.  Big huge hugs, Grammy

Ah ha! Parents always know!

Good on Jason for coming out.

Phew, I'm glad Brian & Justin were reliving their youth!! Go Brian get that Terry

Author's Response: I think you are totally correct Carrie.  I think parents most always have an inkling even when they don't want to admit it.  Jason was simply ready which is the best time for a young person to come out.  Isn't it wonderful that Brian got the chance to make a difference this time by being there in time to stop the dreadful deed a sick young man planned?  In a way it has redeemed Brian forever.  Terry chose the wrong person to go after, no doubt about that.  Thanks for your comments.  Big hugs, Grammy

Hello again!!

Yes I missed last night :0

I had this crazy idea to sort out my e-books, of course I started and was still doing it at 3am!! I had loads to add to my e-reader but got half way through and realised I'd run out of space so had to re-think things.

I'm still doing it now!

Carrie

~~~
God Brian & Justin are soooo coool!! Allowing boyfriends to sleep over and having a lock on the door! My Dad has only ever let one of my boyfriends stay over and I'm not allowed a lock on my door <<Pout>> I'm 25 damnit! I should be allowed a lock!!
It's funny how Gus gets embarrassed when it's all in his head and it's sweet that Justin is still so clearly smitten by his first time with Brian! Good on Brian.
Oh no! Terry's gonna strike.
Author's Response: Oh my dear Carrie, I did miss you yesterday but I am completely sympathetic.  I write reviews for Netflix and I have over 800 of them right now.  I try to keep them catalogued and in a file which I have to update all the time.  Sometimes I get so involved I lose track of time.  But fun is fun.  LOL!  Btw, you have my sympathy with the lock issue.  Geez, 25 is certainly old enough to make your own choses and to have complete privacy.  Hopefully that will come soon.  Now on to the comments....there is no way that Brian and Justin could be so hypocritical as to tell Gus and Jason that they cannot and/or should not be together.  They are practical and know that true love is not going to be stopped by a set of antiquated rules.  And of course Justin will never forget how Brian ushered him into the world of a gay man with such tenderness and care (and that was before he fell in love).  Yep, Terry is a snake just waiting to strike.  Thanks again for all your wonderful comments.  Big huge hugs, Grammy
Well thats me done for the night. I'll be back tomorrow for the no doubt badness that is about to happen. I actually can't remember what happens so it's all new to me. Oh I lie I do remeber, it's just popped into my head as I was typing.
Author's Response: I hope you had a good night's rest Carrie.  I cannot tell you how much pleasure you have brought me with all your wonderful comments and observations.  I even learned a couple of new things thanks to you.  I hate to say it but badness will happen but in a way it is a blessing because it will go a long way in redeeming Brian for the past that he had no control over.  I look forward eagerly to all your comments.  They are a boost of energy as I type out another story or chapter.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Huge huge hugs, Grammy
Good work Dad & Daddy J!
I think it's kinda funny, with Brian & Justin, Brian approched Justin first then Justin did the chasing.
Gus & Jason are the same. Gus name the first move with the kiss in Vermont then Jason did the 'chasing' afterwards :)
Author's Response: You know Carrie, I honestly didn't think of that until you mentioned it.  It just seemed so right to me and befitting of their personalities.  Now comes the fun part.  There is nothing like the first blush of feeling in love with someone and knowing they feel the same.  Thank you so much for all your great comments.  Big huge hugs, Grammy
That was just pure luck!! JR ending up out of the house and leaving our boys to chat.
God I just want to hug Gus. He's like a blend of Justin & Brian, emotional like Justin but quiet and contained like Brian
Author's Response: During the show I used to imagine Brian having 'the talk' with Gus when he grew up.  I finally got my chance to have it happen.  I think the boys did a good job and Gus is such a perceptive young man, isn't he?  Thanks again Carrie.  Big hugs, Grammy
I loved Justins panic moment. It's such a parent thing 'OMG my kid might be having sex!!!'
But at least he got out of there and didn't wake them up and scream at them.
And typical Brian 'Yeahy my son's gay' reaction! :) Then worrying about his gaydar being off!
Oh Gus & Jason are as bad at misunderstandings as Justin & Brian early on!
Author's Response: I had a ball writing that scene when Brian first realizes how much his son is like him.  And poor Justin was naturally the one to break the news to Brian.  LOL!  I was proud of Justin for the way he handled the unveiling but he always did have a lot of common sense about sex, didn't he?   This will not be the first misunderstanding between the two young men but it will teach them to communicate a little better.  Thanks so much for the comments Carrie.  Big hugs, Grammy
Oooohhhhhhh! Kissing & Stuff :)
Glad Jason & Gus didn't go too far cause it was only their first time for both of them but how sweet.
It is kinda scary how much Justin & Jason share in personality.
I feel kinda sorry for JR, unless she comes out as gay she's gonna be the odd one out bless her!
On the bright side Brian & Justin won't have to worry about having the sex talk about girls since both Gus & JR appear to like oys! Good thing to cause I don't think Brian & Justin know anything about girls (ah yes the Daphane moment)
Author's Response: I kind of thought it was time for Gus to experience some of the pleasures of feeling a connection to someone like his father has enjoyed all these years and I didn't want him to wait 29 years like poor Brian had to.  I adore Jason just like I do Justin.  He has that same heart and caring which matches the Kinney men so well.  Don't worry about JR.  That girl will never be an odd man out in anything.  She has her mom's fiery independent spirit that will take her far in life, even through bad times.  I don't know if you've read the sequel to this story yet but that story will go a long way in confirming JR's preferences.  LOL!  Big huge hugs, Grammy
~~~

I love to see Brian & Justin doing naughty things but in the car with the kids!!! Shock, horror! But at the same time it great because the show was very much about how much Brian was a sexual creature and how Justin could keep up with him (in mind as well). I could never imaging either of them just stoping, I always saw them as dirty old men so into each other and thats what they are on their way to in this story :)

They are also interesting parents, one minute tell the kids to stay away from the porn cabinet then the next laying out ground rules! Very different.

Glad the kids are adjusting well

Author's Response: I'm so glad to see you back Carrie.  You perked me up better than anything and now that I'm back on my feet I still have the pleasure of your wonderful comments.  How lucky am I?  Thank you so much for this.  Now on to the comments...So you like the image of our boys as dirty old men?  Well so do I, most definitely.  LOL!  Actually, they simply can't help themselves because just touching each other makes them feel alive.  As for their parenting skills...they are still new at this but they have one skill that many parents lose and that is the ability to remember what it is to be young so that will help them in many ways.  They are also not afraid to ask for help from wise Grandma Deb and Michael, Ben, and the others.  The kids will do well thanks to that.  Big huge hugs, Grammy

Poor Justin having to deal with everything again and having to explain to the kids why Brian is acting like he is!

It's good he sat down with them though and explained what is going on rather that trying to gloss over the situation.

Author's Response: Justin has always had a keen insight into Brian, even when he was still too young and inexperienced to understand everything himself, so he knew why Brian was acting as he was.  Justin believes in honesty, a trait he shares with Brian, so of course he would make sure the kids understood what was happening.  Justin knows that things won't be easy for any of them at first, but he has always had a parenting gene in him and becoming  a parent for Gus and JR is a task he is more than happy to take on, especially with Brian by his side.  Thanks again for the comments.  Big hugs, Grammy

Good chapter, we can understand what many of the characters are feeling.

Bad Brian and his bad pain management even if he does have a reason, that he's scared to be afull time father.

I like the doubts are still there in the man even years later, so like his character during the show.

Author's Response: I wanted to make Brian the hero, but the truth is that he never was as strong as Justin when it came to coping with immense pain so I felt it would have to be Justin who led the way.   Of course Brian comes around because that is who he is.  Thank you so much for your wonderful comments.  They are so well thought out.  I appreciate it a lot.  Hugs, Grammy

Evil Chapter!

Made me want to cry :(

Poor Justin having to have the straight, get things done head on and keep the kids calm.

Author's Response: Trust me my friend, this one was hard to write, especially since I like Mel and Linds a lot and I know what it is to lose someone you love most dearly, but Brian and Justin and Gus and JR will prove to be people with strength and the tears will subside, though the memories never will.  Big huge hugs, Grammy

So love the two girls chasing after Brian & Justin! It's so true :) Those sorts of things happen.

And yeahy. Brian & Justin smut in the elevator. An Elevator much like the one in Brian's building perhaps.

I can't believe you left the chapter like that! Talk about cliff hangers. Your stories always have something bad happen in them but normally not this early on!!

Duh, duh, duuuuhhhhhh! (that's dramatic cliff hanging theme music)

Author's Response: You are very perceptive Welcome_earthling because I certainly did have Brian's apartment elevator in the back of my mind when I pictured that scene.  I am sorry for the drama starting so early but in this case it was necessary because this is mostly a story of how Brian and Justin cope with going from a carefree married couple to full fledged parents in the blink of an eye and how Gus and JR react to the drastic change in their lives.  But even if life can be cruel sometimes, how we cope is what proves the kind of persons we are.  Thanks for your comments again.  Big hugs, Grammy

I so love the fact that this story is really about JR & Gus. I mean yes you see the others responses to the kids but thats just it. The responses are mostly either from the two kids or because of them.

Thats a good idea so you can see different sides to the story.

Plus Canada's own version of a Liberty Dinner!! Cool.

Author's Response: This is definitely Gus and JR's story, thus the title...although they do prove to be more of a joy for our Brian and Justin than trouble, at least in the end.   I'm so glad you liked the Canadian part of this story too.  Big hugs, Grammy

Ok so I have read this before but if I remember correctly I was bad at leaving reviews as I am with soooo many stories but being that I've actually managed to review almost every chapter of 'the officer and the runaway' I thought I'd give it ago here.

So Grammy to help you on your recovery and to let you know we are greatful for your writing I am going to leave a review for every chapter.

Let's see how far we get tonight.

~~~
Good chapter with a nice set up of the story. I like the fact that you've explained where everyone is and what is going on with their lives without completely bogging down the reader with un-needed details.
Author's Response: What an unbelievably nice thing to find waiting for me today when I finally had the strength to bring my new lap top to bed.  One of my darling Granddaughters brought me home a stomach virus and I've been laid up all weekend.  I'm just about ready to rejoin the living but thanks to the lap top I was able to check the site and there were your beautiful reviews.  Thank you so much Welcome_earthling.  I am so grateful to you.  Now on to your comments....I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the set up for this story.  I want nothing more than for folks to feel connected to the characters from the very beginning.  Thank you for making me feel like I've achieved that goal.  Big hugs, Grammy
