Reviews For A Resounding Loss

I think Debbie needs to have a little chat with Brian about how he is treating Justin before Justin ends up leaving him.   He's not going to keep putting up with Brian's behavior forever.

And I think Debbie made the right decision for her.   It doesn't make sens to keep taking the medication when its making her feel awful, and not even helping her to get better.

Author's Response:

Debbie does need to have a talk with Brian.  Justin's been through this before and is so disappointed that Brian has reverted to his "old" way of dealing with things.  Thank you so much for the review.  I really appreciate that you read and take the time to comment.  :)

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: August 17, 2018 12:25 AM · On: Chapter 9

I agree with Deb. Enjoy what time is left.

What the fuck is Brian up to besides pushing Justin so far away he may never reach him again. Sad part is is that Brian knows it. If he's doing this now, what's he going to be like when she passes?

Author's Response:

Hi hon, Thank you so much for reading.  Brian is reverting back to his old ways.  Justin may not stick around this time.

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: August 16, 2018 02:10 PM · On: Chapter 9

This is so realistic.  It sounds just like Deb, her attitude comes across right on.

Author's Response:

Thank you for the compliment.  When I'm writing, I always try to imagine the characters saying it.  Glad you're liking it!

Reviewer: Happy Gamma (Signed) · Date: August 16, 2018 01:08 PM · On: Chapter 9

Wow, difficult chapter to write, but you wrote it so well.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your kind review.  This story has been difficult for me to write, since it is in part based on my experience of losing a loved one to Cancer.

Reviewer: bksbracelet (Signed) · Date: August 16, 2018 12:04 PM · On: Chapter 9

Omg the family is going to be a mess and Brian has a head start

Author's Response:

Debbie is there for everyone.  You're right when you say the family is going to be a mess.  What will they do without her?

Reviewer: cullengirl08 (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 08:58 PM · On: Chapter 8

I'm with Debbie.   It's her decision about how she wants to get treated, not anybody else's.

Author's Response:

Thank you for commenting.  Some people find it very hard to let their loved one make a monumental decision like that.  However, in the end, it is our decision and our decision alone how we want to handle a serious illness.

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 04:47 PM · On: Chapter 8

Brian is fighting himself. The one person who loves him as he is, for who he is, is eventually going to leave him. He isn't ready. She understood why Brian hadn't shown up yet.

Deb will probably go with the recommended treatment. I can't see her giving up that easily. It is a lot to take in.

Author's Response:

As far as Brian has come, he still has a hard time dealing with his feelings.  As much as he wants to let Justin in, he still struggles with it.  Thank you so much for the feedback!

Reviewer: Happy Gamma (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 03:53 PM · On: Chapter 8

Great chapter. Thank goodness Debbie is standing up to the whiny brat.

Author's Response:

Thank you for the positive review!  I agree, Michael is annoying!

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 01:30 PM · On: Chapter 8

Excellant chapter.  Gives us pertanent information in a easy to understand format.  What will Deb decide?

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your kind words.  Debbie will follow her true nature when making the decision.   :)

Reviewer: bksbracelet (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 01:10 PM · On: Chapter 8

I am feeling for Michael in this chapter and that is very unusual lol

Author's Response:

Lol, Michael is a pain, but he adores Debbie.  He is so afraid of losing her that he thinks it's crazy for her to even hesitate at taking the chance on immunotherapy.  Thank you for commenting.

Reviewer: PA Boi (Signed) · Date: July 02, 2018 03:01 AM · On: Chapter 8

Left us with a cliffhanger.  Hope the "family" opens up to Debbie and stop ignoring the elephant in the room.  Really hard toknow what to do in these situations.

Author's Response:

The family, as is the case with many people, don't know what to say to the person in this situation.  It's easier not to talk about it.  However, someone like Debbie prefers honesty and directness.  That's what gave her the courage to ask how much time she had left.  Thank you for leaving a review.

Reviewer: augusta70 (Signed) · Date: June 03, 2018 03:10 AM · On: Chapter 7

Keep going, please! As much as I don't want to see the loss of one of my favorite characters, I know this is going to mean some serious growth for other characters, and I can't wait to see where you take it from here.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for the positive feedback.  It is greatly appreciated.  I hope you continue to enjoy the story, even though it is a sad one.

Reviewer: sandid (Signed) · Date: May 27, 2018 05:56 PM · On: Chapter 7

Well, I've read all the completed chapters today.  You said in the beginning that you wanted to know if you should finish.  Yes, you should.  So far, so good.  It moved along quickly and I'm wanting to know more.  That's what I like in my fanfic.  Thanks

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your feedback.  I'm glad you think I should continue the story.  I appreciate your review!

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: May 22, 2018 06:51 PM · On: Chapter 7

I expect Brian will want to talk with Justin first, but I hope he soon lets Ted in on what the prognosis is.

Author's Response:

Same as the series, Ted is Brian's confidante.  Their friendship grew over the years, unlike the relationship between him and Michael.  Brian is still Michael's protector.  I appreciate your review.  Thank you!

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: May 22, 2018 06:46 PM · On: Chapter 6

Oh no.  Not good news is not good.  At least everyone knows what is going on.

Author's Response:

Debbie couldn't hide it from her "family" much longer.  At least she'll have more support.  Thanks for reading!

Reviewer: bksbracelet (Signed) · Date: May 22, 2018 09:45 AM · On: Chapter 7

Wow this is sad and unfortunately for me close to home. I am sad Brian didn’t trust Ted with the news though I thought they had moved to a new friendship

Author's Response:

Sorry, it is close to home for me, too.  This story was inspired by my mother's battle with cancer.  Brian will confide in Ted when he is ready.  Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: May 22, 2018 04:14 AM · On: Chapter 7

Not good news, not at all.

Michael isn't going to handle this well, but he should be calling his husband.

Brian should have told Ted what's going on. He's family too. Now is not the time for Brian to go into lone wolf mode.

I feel so bad for Carl. Here's a woman he thought he'd grow older with. First his first wife dies of cancer and Deb has it.

Author's Response:

Michael has always relied on Brian to solve all of his problems.  Old habits die hard.  Ted and Brian are close now, but Brian still has difficulty expressing his true feelings.  Carl is in complete shock and is trying his best to be there for Debbie.  I am happy that you are enjoying the story.  Thanks for reading!

Reviewer: cullengirl08 (Signed) · Date: May 21, 2018 10:38 PM · On: Chapter 7

How awful for them all.   Unfortunately for Michael, I don't think Brian is going to be able to fix this one...

Author's Response:

I agree with you on that one.  Brian is not God (although Justin may have thought so when he was younger, lol).  Thank you so much for commenting!

Reviewer: Happy Gamma (Signed) · Date: May 21, 2018 10:30 PM · On: Chapter 7

Great update.  Poor Debbie, but it is a part of life.  And, Michael, always the idiot thinks Brian can fix anything.

Author's Response:

Unfortunately, we all have to face our mortality some time.  It's too bad that Debbie is still young and won't have a chance to grow old with Carl.  Michael will always be an idiot! lol  Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Reviewer: PA Boi (Signed) · Date: April 12, 2018 03:48 AM · On: Chapter 6

Well your title let us know where this was headed.  Nice that everyone is banding together for Debbie.

Author's Response:

Debbie is everyone's surrogate mother and the head of their unconventional "family".  It's only natural for them to want to lend her support.  Thank you for reviewing!

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: April 12, 2018 12:01 AM · On: Chapter 6

Did Deb really think no one would care? They're family.

Damn cliffhangers get you every time.

Author's Response:

Debbie probably thought they were all busy with their lives and didn't have time for her, but she was wrong.  Yes, it's sort of a cliffhanger, but you have an idea of where this is going.  Thank you so much for leaving a comment!

Reviewer: Predec2 (Signed) · Date: April 11, 2018 11:49 PM · On: Chapter 6

Hello, Terry!  This is such a tearjerker.  I suspect Debbie's cancer may have spread to her leg, and she has taken a bad turn here.  I'm glad she has all the support that she does.

This is such an interesting story and premise!  How will the gang react when their 'Mom' who was the glue that held them all together is no longer there?  It'll be interesting to see who picks up the baton, so to speak.

Thank you for posting a new story after being away.  Despite the serious nature of this story, I am really enjoying it. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi Kim, Thank you so much for reading.  I know this isn't my usual Brian and Justin story, but I'm happy that there does seem to be an audience for this type of story.  I know, it is kind of depressing.  As you know, it was inspired by real life.  I really appreciate the review!  -Terry  xo

Ah, cliffhanger time.  Good chapter.  Nice to have a story with no nasty Michael or Lindsay.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  I do love a good cliffhanger, but I'm sure you have a good idea of where this is going.  Thank you so much for your kind review.

Brian is being very sweet here.  He & Debbie have a deep bond.  Bittersweet conversation.

Author's Response:

Brian and Debbie always had a unique and special relationship.  Debbie feels even more of a connection now, because of the "cancer".  Thank you for commenting!  :)

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: March 22, 2018 10:38 AM · On: Chapter 5

Guess Michael did good by going to Brian. Ben didn't have the history. Justin will understand. Like Brian said, she's going to be needing help, eventually.

She did carry it a bit too far and too long.

Author's Response:

Debbie is an emotional mess.  Brian is one of the few, maybe the only person, who can get through to her right now.  Thank you for reading and commenting!

Brian's plan worked, but I think Justin is right Mikey needs to depend on Ben.

Author's Response:

Michael and Justin have always had a little jealousy going on between them in terms of Brian.  But since Michael is married to Ben, you would think that instead of going to Brian, he would rely on Ben.  Some things never change.  Thank you for commenting, hon!

Reviewer: Happy Gamma (Signed) · Date: March 22, 2018 12:09 AM · On: Chapter 5

Debbie and Brian just have a special bond between them.  Glad in this story it is a good one.  Good chapter.

Author's Response:

Yes, Debbie and Brian do have something special.  I appreciate you reading.  Thank you, as always, for the review!

Reviewer: Predec2 (Signed) · Date: March 21, 2018 05:34 PM · On: Chapter 4

Hi, Terry!  Glad to see an update to this. :)  Justin obviously can keep a secret a lot better than Michael.  Ugh... I honestly don't know how Ben puts up with him!

And I was afraid at first when you mentioned a 'klunk,' that it was Debbie falling to the floor instead of hanging up on him.  But it would serve Michael right if she died like Vic did (i.e., when he is not around).  That man has some major growing up to do.  Not sure if that will ever happen or not, though. He has depended on his mother for so long that I don't think he will ever mature properly. It will be interesting to see what happens after he doesn't have her for support anymore.

Thanks for the update!  Looking forward to the next part.  Glad to see you back on here!  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi Kim, Debbie falling would have indeed been a good one.  It's uncanny how you mention Vic among other things.  It must be your writer's instinct, I swear sometimes that you are reading my mind! lol  You will understand when I post my next chapter.  Thank you so much for your support and your positive review.    -T

Justin did good by letting her know both he and Brian will be there for her and, he knows how to keep his mouth shut. His worried moid coukd have others thinking it was due to his upcoming show.

I don't blame Deb for being angry at Michael. It wasn't his place to tell. Better to give hera few days before trying to talk to her again.

Author's Response:

Justin, unlike Michael, knows how to keep a secret that someone entrusts him with.  You are right when you say that it is not Michael's place to tell Debbie's news to anyone.  Debbie should have been able to decide when and who she wanted to tell.  Thank you for reviewing my story.  Hope you continue to read and enjoy it!

Reviewer: sfscarlet (Signed) · Date: March 19, 2018 01:53 AM · On: Chapter 4

As always, I love the story.  You have a gift for storytelling.  Even though the chapters are short, they beg for further investigation of the tale.  I can't wait for new updates.

Author's Response:

First, let me say thank you so much for your kind words.  I am just happy to be writing again and realize that I am but one writer on this website of many, very talented writers, such as yourself.  As for the chapters, I've never really written very long chapters, I guess it's not my style.  However, I am sincerely appreciative that you are reading and also taking the time to leave such a nice review!

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: March 18, 2018 09:33 PM · On: Chapter 4

Oops.  Looks like the cats out of the bag.  Justin didn't know he wasn't supposed to know.  Michael is so funny.  He knows he made a mistake and now he has to pay.  It's a good thing that Ben loves him in spite of his faults.

Author's Response:

You're right.  It is a good thing that Ben knows exactly who Michael is and loves him anyway.  Let's see what happens now that Debbie is pissed!  I appreciate the review.  Keep reading!  :)

I can definitely see Brian handling Debbie's cancer this way - although Justin did enjoy it... but then to hear about Debbie after... (shaking my head at Brian) And Michael never could keep his mouth shut - I expect all hell is about to be let loose. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your kind review.  I hope you continue to enjoy it!

Reviewer: Predec2 (Signed) · Date: March 10, 2018 01:36 PM · On: Chapter 3

Hi, Terry!  Well, while for most people this would be a very odd way of telling your lover/partner that someone he dearly loves has cancer, I can see this being done by Brian.  His form of 'pain management.'  I don't blame Justin for being a bit miffed for not telling him before, but then again, I think Brian needed that physical bond with Justin to perhaps help him realize he is very much alive, and to help steel him for what he needed to tell his partner.  I'm glad he told Justin, though, and did not keep it a secret from him.

Michael...grrr....while I feel sorry for him because it's his mother, he just can't do as he's instructed!  He HAD to know that Brian would have to tell Justin.  Now he must deal with the consequences.  He just never learns.

In a way, all this support will be a source of comfort to Debbie, though, I hope.

And you were right - ha!  There was definitely B/J interaction in this chapter - LOL!  Thanks for this engrossing story, Terry. I'm glad to see you back. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi Kim!  You hit the nail on the head.  Brian did indeed "f---" Justin into oblivion because he wanted to feel alive.  And yes, he needed time to tell Justin.  For all the years that Justin has known Brian he still doesn't have a clue sometimes.  Justin often reacts with his heart, not with his head when it comes to Brian.  Michael is another story all together.  I've always thought of him as immature and "needy".  He couldn't do the one thing he was asked to do, keep this a secret until Debbie felt like telling her extended family.  Thank you so much for reading and I am glad you are getting into the story.  I hope it will continue to intrigue you!  Hugs-T

Reviewer: galesweetie (Signed) · Date: March 09, 2018 08:39 PM · On: Chapter 3

T, It's been awhile since I've read a B/J story. It was nice getting back into their lives again. You didn't lose their voices (after all this time) they are crystral clear!  I fell right back in!  Does that make sense? lol!!  Love that your B/J are still together ! No NYC for JT!  And YES! They are doing it 'raw'! Shoot! Haven't said that word in eons!! ;)  Sad that Britin's gone but the LOFT was and always will be their home. Heartbreaking about Debbie......and spot on about the wait for "call" from doctors. Even w/MSK ....before they make a move they need EVERYTHING! As you and I both know. Looking forward to the next chapter!!! <3

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Frannie!  It took me a while (a long while), but I finally felt inspired to write something.  I'm definitely bringing my personal experiences into this.  Has anyone not been touched by cancer?  I really appreciate your positive review.  Hope I don't disappoint!  Love you!   -T  xoxo

Mikey can be such a dope.  Of course Brian was always going to tell Justin even fi he was told not to tell anyone.  Interesting story, sad but pulls you right in.  Bill

Author's Response:

Doesn't anybody realize that Michael will always spill the beans.  That's just who he is.  Yes, Brian was bound to tell Justin, but always in his own time and his own way.  I'm so glad that you are enjoying my story.  :)

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: March 07, 2018 02:48 AM · On: Chapter 3

Brian handled the news with his tried and true pain management...sex.

Yeah Michael forgot that one little bit of info although Brian would have been a bitch to live with if Justin didn't know what was going on with him.

Author's Response:

Although a little more tame than in the past, yes, Brian is using sex to deal with his fears/pain.  It's a good thing Brian told Justin.  Justin was pissed that Brian hadn't told him when he walked through the door to the loft.  Thanks so much for the review.  I appreciate it!

Reviewer: bksbracelet (Signed) · Date: March 07, 2018 02:16 AM · On: Chapter 3

Come on Justin Brian’s need for connection was to drive his fears away for a few minutes. Sex is his go to comfort zone. He has major strides by going home to Justin and not the baths!

Author's Response:

You've got it exactly right.  Brian's way of dealing with his fears/pain.   Thank you for commenting!

Hi, Terry!  Happy to see another chapter to this intense story. I read one of your review responses, and it doesn't surprise me that you seem to have personal knowledge of the ins and outs of dealing with cancer, b/c what you wrote seemed very precise and believable.  It has to be SO frustrating to know you have this virtual, ticking time bomb inside you that needs to be dealt with quickly, and yet there is still all this red tape to go through!

I suspect this will be a real emotional roller coaster, not only for Michael and Brian (and Carl), but also for the readers as well.  And I do think we often take a lot of our loved ones for granted; especially the young ones, that they will be here a long time, and that is not always the case. Makes us realize that we need to slow down a bit and think about what is REALLY important.

So happy to see you posting again! Thanks for the update! I'll be looking forward to more. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thanks, Kim.  Yes, this story is very personal to me.  When cancer strikes, it effects everyone connected to the person.  Writing this will hopefully be cathartic for me.

Reviewer: tiger062 (Signed) · Date: March 04, 2018 03:57 AM · On: Chapter 2

Cancer is such a scary disease, I'm sure most people have had family or friends that have either gone through it or lost their life to it - I Know I have. Debbie cooking is so Debbie. And the waiting is for answers is terribly difficult. Michael of course, is being Michael but I do understand his frustrations at the red tape. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.  Unfortunately, this story will have some of my personal experiences with loved ones and cancer woven into it.

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: March 03, 2018 08:50 PM · On: Chapter 2

Carl and Deb are doing the right thing by keeping busy. It's the only way to making it through.

Michael, can understand him being upset, but even if it is Brian, he should have followed Deb's wishes and not tell anyone. Ben better put on his big boy pants for when Michael really needs him to help keep Michael from drowning in loss.

Michael never could keep a secret.  Thank you so much for the review.  I appreciate it.

I'm happy to see you are back! I'm not sure if I can read chapter by chapter because it's difficult for me when there is the death of a character. But I like this beginning and I can read it when it's completer to see how everyone will react to Debbie's death.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  I'm happy to be back.  I appreciate your feedback.  I can understand you not wanting to read it until it's finished.  Hopefully I can give you a good story to read!

Hi Kim!  I really value your input.  I wasn't sure if this kind of story would be of interest to anybody.  I am definitely going to continue it.  It's nice to be back! :)

Great start.  Think you should definitely continue with the story.  It is well written and caught my attention from the beginning.  Looking forward to reading it to completion.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for the feedback.  I haven't written in such a long time.  I guess I'm a little insecure as to whether people want to read this type of fanfic.
