So nice to see an update!

Poor Justin... I figured he'd have a sad backstory, thinking that it might be more of the usual "kicked out by a homophobic Craig." But somehow, knowing he'd had a loving family makes his current situation really difficult.  The scene of losing Molly was especially intense.

Already looking forward to the next installment.

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yes, we know more now about his history and circumstances.  And yeah, the normal scenario with Craig is usually the way it goes, but in this story I don't think even Justin really realized at that point how attracted he was to men, but something tells me he's finding out. ;)

I'll have the next part up just as soon as I can. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, my friend. Always appreciated.  ~Kim

So we learn more about Justin's past and a missing Molly.  Somehow I think Brian will do a little detective work.

Author's Response:

Hi, Phyllis!  Yes, we know more now about Justin's circumstances.  He's had a lot of heartbreak in his young life. The two men will continue to draw closer as Justin recuperates; how it plays out is yet to come.;)  (I know - tease!).  I'll have the next chapter up just as soon as I can.  Thanks as always for all the support you give writers.  ~Kim

Poor Justin, he has gone through a lot in his young life, to lose his parents to this terrible disease and then to be seperated from his sister, his only family left. That's awful.

But I hope he has a lucky streak now. And I have a feeling, Brian will not let him go after his recovery...not after what he learned about Justins history.

I keep my fingers crossed!

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  Yes, we know now why he was out on the streets, as well as the heartbreak he has had to endure.  And as for his future, I WILL say that I feel the two will continue to bond; what happens - or the result - remains to be seen. ;)

Thank you so much for reading and especially for commenting!  The next chapter will be posted just as soon as I can.  ~Kim

Great chapter, its so sad about Molly.

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading, and especially commenting!  Yes, sad about Molly, but upon dong research, I found it wasn't that uncommon for orphans to be 'farmed out' if others needed help, or wanted to adopt them. I imagine the reasons varied, but sad in either case.  I'll have the next chapter up just as soon as I can. Thank you for the support.  ~Kim

No matter his age, I think Brian has met his match in Justin. Can't wait to see how he handles it all.

Horrible history he told Brian, especially about Molly. Whomever "adopted" her sounds like they wanted her for more than housekeeping. Required that she looked like the rest of the family. Have to wonder why. Maybe Brian can find out for Justin where she was sent to give Justin peace of mind.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry!  Yes, I think especially as Justin begins to recover further, the feisty aspect of his personality will come out more and more.  As for Molly, she will be the subject of more conversation/action coming up.  I appreciate you reading and reviewing.  More coming up soon. Thanks for the support.  `~Kim

Poor Justin ! I hope he could find Molly! Brian and Justin and the electricity everything seems to go at best!! Thank you for the update Kim, looking forward for more ! Hugs

Author's Response:

Hello, Marie-France!  Yes, the two men are slowly getting to know each other. I'm not sure Brian knows just yet what to make of his 'houseguest,' but they will continue to bond in the upcoming days. ;)  I'm glad you are enjoying the story, my friend.  More to come soon.  ~Kim

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for posting another chapter.  Justin's description of his separation from his sister Molly was really heartbreaking, as he was helpless to do anything while she was calling out to him.  I think it was tougher than his parents' passing because he knew he could do nothing to stop the epidemic from taking them.  Not knowing Molly's circumstances is a misery to Justin, hoping she's not having as tough a time as he's had.  Hopefully Brian can investigate her fate.  It was charming to see Brian so protective of Justin, even if a little domineering.  I loved Justin's "barking" reply, it was perfect to send that message across to Brian.  Looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's Response:

Hi, there!  A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!  Thank you. :)  Now it's back to work today - ugh.

As for the story, yes, he had a double heartbreak there with the death of his parents, and the separation from his sister.  And you're very perceptive about his feelings; it's not much different than someone going missing, and not knowing where to look for them.  And yes, Brian is still warring with his feelings about Justin - he's feeling some emotions he's never felt before, versus wanting to maintain his 'master of the house' persona, so there's a little mixture of both in him right now. ;)

I'll have the next chapter up just as soon as I can. I don't see this story as a super long, multi-chaptered one, but there will be several more coming up. Thanks for reading, and especially for commenting. It is deeply appreciated. ~Kim

Wow lots happening and some back story as per usual I want more lol

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris! Well, it's always flattering when a reader wants more, so I thank you for that. :)  You will see more bonding between the two men coming up, along with some twists that perhaps readers won't see coming.  As always, I'm thankful for your reading and support of my stories. Typos be damn! Thank you for getting up this chapter for me. Quickly you are moving the plot as they get to know each other better. The electricity between them is strong here. It should be interesting how you get past the time period barrier for men of that persuasion to find each other.

Love your writing, Kim. I'm thinking you have over 100 lurkers for each review you receive. Your work will be just as legendary as Elsa's became. Believe it.

Author's Response:

Hello, friend - I'm glad you're liking this one. I forgot how much your enjoyed historical fics.  And thank you for your kind words. I truly appreciate that, and all you do for this site.  ~Kim

I absolutely love this. Poor Justin. I can almost feel the pain he has endured. His parents dying together. I'm hoping, one Brian Kinney is going to find Molly.
Love that Justin is so brilliant & beating Brian at Chess. I never played the game, but wanted to learn. Adore Vic, knowing Brian is smitten with young Justin. Lol.
Excellent chapter, Kim!
It was worth the wait. Thank you, my friend!
Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  I'm so glad you're enjoying this story.  And yes, Justin has endured a lot in the past few years.  And yes, Vic, I think, is a good choice for this story in the role of confidante to both B and J.  I think there might be a few twists here along the way, too.  I hope you continue to enjoy this one!  More coming up. Thank you for reading, and for your support, Annie.  I truly appreciate it. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you, Marilynne!  That makes me delighted to hear how much you're enjoying this story.  There will be some twists coming up that hopefully will surprise some readers. ;)  Thank you for reading, and especially for the comments. Hey! I'm so sorry fpr not reviewing sooner but I've been so busy that I didn't even have time to read the latest chapter until tonight. I loved the interaction between Brian and Justin as well the way you made Debbie exactly how she really is despite the historical context. I hope to see more soon!

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  Now I'M the tardy one! I'm just grateful for you reading and commenting. :)  The two boys will be interacting a  lot more in the next chapter. I have it done; I just need to review it first, so it should be up in the next day or so. Thank you for all the support!  It is greatly appreciated.  ~Kim

Brian was quite surprised by his guest. The teasing conversation and quick wit was immensely enjoyable.

Can't wait for him to find out Justin's story. Educated and well mannered. Stubborn and determined. Brian finds it intriguing.

Already there seems to be a connection between the two, which I think shocked Brian a bit. Was it the blue eyes, sunshine smile, or both?

I like how he is the lord of the manor yet can be familiar enough with his staff to allow them to speak freely at times.

Vic knew what Brian's reaction to Justin would be.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry - I'm glad you're enjoying this story.  I think both men are going to benefit from this situation. ;)  Brian will try to resist becoming involved, but something tells me that's not going to work.  I'll have the next part up soon. Thank you for reading and for commenting; I appreciate that.  ~Kim

I would say that Master Kinney is intrieged by his unexpected house guest. Justin may be a down and out street urchin but he is  feisty and proud. Vic and now  Debbie...I hope other members of the gang show up in this enjoyable story.

Author's Response:

Hi, Kim!  Yes, I would say you're very perceptive. ;)  I think they are going to both benefit from their chance encounter. Thank you for reading, and especially for commenting.  The next part will be up soon. :)  ~Kim

Justin's pride and maybe his stubborness as well has had string something inside Brian. I'm sure Justin's beauty as well...lol :-)

And I think with Justin's manners and knowledge Brian is challenged, in a good life affirming way!

I'm excited for more!

Author's Response:

Hi, dear friend!  Yes, I think Brian is definitely curious about his unexpected visitor.  He can resist, but I don't think it wil work. ;)  I'm delighted that you are enjoying my first attempt at a historical story!  Thank you for reading, and for the feedback.  I greatly appreciate that.  ~Kim

Great chapter. Love the banter between Vic and Brian - Vic has his 'number' alright...LOL  Justin is quite a mystery which of course has peaked the master of the house's interest - I'm grinning to myself thinking Brian is already caught... Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica! So happy that you are enjoying the story!  Vic is a good mentor/confidante for both Brian and Justin, I think, as well as part matchmaker. :)  I, too, think Brian's already snared, but he just doesn't know it yet - ha!  The next part will be up soon. Thank you so much for reading and especially commenting!  ~Kim

I'm loving this story, and how feisty Justin is. He's just what Brian needs, someone to challenge him and make him think. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Hugs Hon ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Hi, Kathleen!  It's so good to see you writing again! I'm happy you're enjoying this story.  It's my first attempt at historical fiction, and I'm enjoying doing some research to learn more about that time. Readers will learn more about Justin's background coming up. Thank you for reading, and for the feedback, my friend.  ~Kim

Brian's learning more about Justin.  Which I suspect is what Vic wanted.  But I want to know is how Justin ended up out on the streets.

Author's Response:

Hi, Phyllis!  Yes, I think a little matchmaking on Vic's part might be in order here. ;)  Readers will soon learn about more of Justin's situation coming up, and how he wound up on the streets.  Thank you as always for reading and especially commenting!  The next part will be up soon.  ~Kim

Hi, Kim,

Vic knows Brian so well, of course, he is now interested in meeting the boy hearing that he is stubborn. Brian is attracted to people that have a backbone.  lol I love how you write both Brian and Justin as strong characters, well balanced :)

Brian is finding that there is much more to the street kid then Brian first thought, ( If he thought at all about it.)

Justin gives back just as good as Brian gives, but he is smart and does not push too hard.  Not sure if my review makes any sense lol  One thing I know for sure these to are in for a ride of there life. Thanks for another Great chapter! I am glad these two finally met.

Lisa

Author's Response:

Hi, Lisa!  Yes, I agree. I don't think Brian would be attracted to a weak-minded, submissive Justin.  I think he's both fascinated as well as a bit afraid of the feelings this virtual stranger is creating in him.  They will get to know each other better in the coming days (not in THAT way, though; at least not yet - ha!).  But Brian will definitely find himself drawn to his visitor.

So happy you're enjoying this one! Thank you for reading, and for the comments. I really do appreciate that.  ~Kim

Reviewer: rulisteningbj (Signed) · Date: November 05, 2017 06:35 PM · On: An Unexpected Bump in the Night

Not surprised that Brian is mesmerized by Justin's beauty.  But to also find out he is intellegent is a plus.  Vic was smart to get Brian to agree for Justin to stay longer.  Everyone in that household will be in love with him.

Dee Dee

Author's Response:

Hello, my friend!  Yes, Brian is captivated by this enigma of a visitor.  But he will also be conflicted, b/c he doesn't get involved with another man; not in this sense, anyway, and I think it scares him.  In the next chapter, we will learn a bit more about how Justin became a homeless person, as well as how the two men begin to bond.  Thank you so much for reading, Dee Dee, and especially for the comments! I am very grateful.  ~Kim

You did it again. Wonderful chapter! I love Brian and Vic's relationship and having Debbie as the cook makes perfect sense. Their repartee is hilarious!

The first meeting went well, LOL. I have a feeling Brian is already very intrigued by this guest and will not regret his choice to let him stay in his house. I'm very interested in learning about Justin's story. And of course, seeing the two of them getting close is going to be a delight.

Thank you as always for another wonderful story!

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading, and for the comments, my friend.  More of Justin's back story will come out in the next part and ongoing chapters.  Now it remains to be seen how much of an impact Justin has on Brian's routine/emotions.  I appreciate the feedback. Next part will be coming up soon. Thank you once more for the support.  ~Kim

Absolutely love It!
Feel like I'm reading a page from an H. G. Wells Novel. I wonder if Master partakes of Laudanum for his own enjoyment. Lol.
Love that Vic knows Brian will be smitten with the beautiful, blue-eyed house guest. Lol. Debbie is the cook. So happy Vic & Debbie are in this.
This is so Debbie..."At first light each man was perfunctorily given the boot, never to return." Lol. So Brian.
They have the best beef bones to gnaw on.  Helps me to clean my teeth, too." Hysterical. He is a wise, little shit. Loving everything about this encounter.
Lord & Master. Lol. Justin isn't afraid to speak his mind.
"Yes, but I had to pawn my good silver a while back. It was weighing my sack down." lol.
Justin dabbing his mouth with the napkin is telling me he has a sad, hard life now, that he didn't have too long ago. So many questions? He certainly does have his country club manners even in his dire situation. Love the playful banter between them. I can't wait to see them play chess. Just a lovely piece you're writing, Kim. Brava, My friend. Anxiously waiting for the next part of this delightful journey. Thank You! Hugs!

Author's Response:

Hi, Annie, my friend!  Yes, I did read this before, but somehow I think it did get deleted, so thank you for posting it again.  Some of what Justin has been through - and why he is out on the streets - will be explained soon. Obviously, he has not been a street urchin permanently...or he's the best mannered one they've ever had - ha!  Thanks again for perserving in leaving your comments. I especially enjoy reading what particular parts someone enjoys reading, so I appreciate you doing that. Had such fun seeing you again!  We'll do it again some time, I'm sure of it!  *Hugs*  ~Kim

A most excellent first contact between Brian and Justin. Brian was a total gentleman since Justin is so drop dead beautiful; Justin was just proud enough to not appear clingy or star-struck. Their friendship? is off to a very good start.

I'm wondering how many chapters before they really get to "know" each other.

Author's Response:

Hello, my friend!  Yes, the two have initially begun their journey of discovery together. Coming up, they will bond in various ways to the point where it may be difficult for both to part once Justin's recovery is complete.  I've got a few twists and turns coming up, though!  I hope you continue to enjoy it. Thank you for reading, and for your comments.  I know all too well how incredibly busy you are right now!  ~Kim

Was not expecting that from Brian. I thought he would stay distant. Apparently Justin has an intresting backstory. Can't wait to hear that. Great chapter.

Author's Response:

Well, I would say he couldn't resist taking a peek, and now that he has, I think he won't be able to resist taking over Justin's recuperating responsibilities personally. ;)  More of how Justin came to be out on the street will be disclosed coming up.  So glad you're enjoying this one, Heidi! Oh what a lovely chapter, I love every letter, dear Kim! You feel the tension between the two, it will be wonderful weeks of recovery for Justin, but also for Brian, who will never let him go! Happy weekend xo

Author's Response:

Hello, dear friend!  So glad that you are enjoying this.  And yes, during his recovery, both men will learn more about each other.  The big question will be whether or not Brian will let him leave once he has no more reason for Justin to remain.  Thank you for reading, and for your comments! The next part will be up soon.  XOXO  ~Kim

Good meeting for Brian and Justin ! I think that Justin has a very painful past and that we will learn what happened; I hope that in this story he always draws and maybe Brian will find him an activity. But I do not want to encroach on your story Kim, but I love it so much and I look forward to every update !!

Author's Response:

Hello, my friend!  Yes, Justin has had some grief in his life, which has caused him to be in his current predicament. Coming up, he will confide part of what has happened to place him out on the streets, and Brian will find himself more drawn to him.  And don't worry! I love the suggestions, and how interested you are in the story!  I will have the next part up soon. Thank you for reading, and for always being so supportive. :)  ~Kim

So Justin has a hidden past. Goody

Author's Response:

Hi, Cheryll!  Yes, Justin has been through an ordeal; one that put him at peril out on the street. Now the question is, will Brian become his savior, or let him go once he is fully recuperated?  We already know he broke his rule to Vic about keeping him out of his sight. He just couldn't resist taking a peek, and NOW he's in trouble - ha!

More coming up soon, including some more glimpses into Justin's background. Thank you very much for reading, and especially for the feedback!  I am very grateful.  ~Kim

Let the games begin! Brian is already hooked by Justin's beauty, brains, wit, and independence. What are Justin's first impressions of Brian?  Will Brian hire someone to investigate Justin Taylor's circumstances? Who will win the chess game?! I noticed how Brian and Justin never hinted to each other their sexual orientation, having to tread very carefully during that era I guess.  Quite the reality check.  The repartee was great between them! Vic's smile like the cat who ate the canary was a nice touch too!

Author's Response:

Hello, there!  Yes, I would say that Brian's curiosity got the better of him, despite his admonition to Vic to keep Justin out of his way. ;)  And now I think he's hooked.  We WILL find out more about Justin's background coming up, and how he wound up on the street.  And as time goes on, the two will get to know each other better in a lot of ways (wink, wink).

Thank you very much for reading, and especially for the feedback!  I greatly appreciate that. The next part will be up soon. ~Kim

Hi Kim!

Sorry for taking so long to review, my Firewall would not let me on this site for a few days :)

I loved this chapter, of course, I missed Brian, but it was great reading about Justin and his reaction to things. Poor sweety he has been through hell.  This situation he is in is really a blessing in disguise.  I cannot wait to see the reaction when these two meet up lol

You could not have picked a better character than Vic to play this role. I love how he intuitively knows how to deal with Justin and handles him with care and gentleness.

Great update. Cannot wait to read more :)

Lisa

Author's Response:

Hi, Lisa!  I loved Vic's character on the show, and I'm glad you like him in this role as a sort of mentor to both men. Justin's story will slowly be told over the next few chapters.  So happy you're enjoying this one!  Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment!  I greatly appreciate the support.  ~Kim

I am so far behind in my reading but trying to catch up... I love this story. I could almost 'smell the scene'. I can imagine how Justin feels now, to be safe, clean and comfortable. Now isn't Mr Kinney going to be surprised...LOL Looking forward to that meeting.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  I'm always delighted to see feedback from you!  I'm glad you're enjoying this story, and that I described the scene well enough that you could see it in your mind's eye. :)

And yes, the meeting between the two men will be coming up in the next part. I'm ready to post it as soon as I look it over for any corrections, so hopefully it will be tonight.  Thanks so much for reading, and especially for taking the time to review!  As always, it is deeply appreciated.  ~Kim

Hi, Kim!
This is wonderful! Thank you for coming up with this storyline - there are not enough historical B/J stories!
I love the period and am eager to read wherever you are taking us - first, because I enjoy the language and the very cautious and restricted way of communication then ( you can guess I'm a big fen of Jane Austin :D) and second, I trust you to always get our boys together.

The writing is captivating as ever - now I want more :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! I'm always happy to hear from you. :)  And I'm delighted that you are enjoying the story so far. This is the first time I've tried an historical story, so I hope I do it well. Thank you for reading, and especially for the comments! The next part is coming up soon. :)  ~Kim

I could only imagine how disoriented Justin felt when he woke up in the lap of luxury. I'm glad  Vic was there to get him sorted outand cared for. I can't wait to read about the effect he will have on Mr. Kinney.

Author's Response:

Hi, Kim!!  So good to hear your thoughts, and to know you're reading this and enjoying it!  You and a lot of other readers are thinking the same thing. :)  That is coming up shortly toward the end of the next part.  Let's just say that Brian is in for a major shock!  As is Justin, too, I think.  I mean, who could resist Brian Kinney???

How right Vic is. Brian will not want Justin to leave once he gets a look at him.

Hi, Sherry! Thank you for reading, and for your comments.  You're right about Brian.  Events will conspire eventually, though, to make his true feelings be revealed, but I won't give away any details. Can't wait to read about the first meeting. Seems like Justin has been on his own for quite some time. I hope Brian won't get one of his tantrums and throw him back on the streets. Great chapter.

Author's Response:

Hello, Heidi! Thank you for reading this one, and for your comments. :)  The circumstances of Justin being on his own will be explained in more detail coming up.  I suspect that my intention to make this a 'shorter' story will evolve into a longer one. No surprise there, right?  Ha!  And it won't be what you think. But on the other hand, I won't give it away, either. ;)  I know, I'm mean - ha!

Very interesting start. I admit I had reservations because historical stories/movies have never been my thing. I'm glad I gave this a shot. I look forward to seeing how our Sunshine will thaw Brian's icy heart. Although it seems he will have to work on it quite hard.

What a sweet new chapter, I like the interaction between Vic and Justin, looking forward to Brian's meeting with Jus. Greeting xo

Author's Response:

Hello, dear friend!  I love to use Vic's character when I can, and this seemed like a good story in which to include him. :)  And  Brian is in for a big shock!  Thank you so much for reading, and for your feedback.  I am very grateful for that - and your friendship.  XOXO ~Kim

What a lovely chapter.  I was so happy to find Vic here.  He did a great job in getting Justin to do what he needed.  Wait till Mr Kinney gets a look at his cleaned up guest. Don't believe he will be able to keep his hands off of him.  Nicely done!

Dee Dee

Author's Response:

Hello, Dee Dee!  So good to see you back. :)  I, too, always loved Vic's character, and thought he would be a good sympathetic ear; both for Justin AND for his employer.  Another familiar face will soon be appearing, but I won't give it away just yet. ;)  I'll have the next part up soon, including Brian's first real look at the 'new and improved' vagabond he has staying in his home. Boy, will HE be surprised!  Thank you for reading, for your support, and most of all, your friendship.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

I love the interactions between Vic and Justin, it's good for Justin to have someone nice and understanding like Vic to take care of him.

Now I can't wait for Brian to meet this cleaned up version of his guest. ;-)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  So delighted that you are enjoying this story. I always adored Vic's no-nonsense approach to things. I loved his character on the show! And another familiar face will be popping up coming up. ;)  I'm working on the next part now, and should have it up soon. Thank you again for reading, and especially for commenting!  I greatly appreciate that.  ~Kim

I love the way you depict the encounter betwwen Justin and Vic. I'm imagining the room, the way they look like and The easy connection between the two men is also very well done. I'm always amazed by hos your love for Justin's character shows in your writing.

I don't need to say that I really look forward to read about Mr. Kinney's encounter with Justin. I promise to be very interesting.

Thank you Kim. Loving this story  :)

Author's Response:

Hello, dear friend - sorry for not responding sooner.  I appreciate your feedback more than you know (well, perhaps, you DO know).  But it is still deeply apprecited.  I am glad that you can picture this in your mind.  Vic will continue to serve as sort of a mentor to both Brian AND Justin in this story.  And I guess you're right; although I see Justin as a very determned young man and NOT weak, I will always have a special place in my heart for what he has experienced; not that I don't love both of them.  But I think because of what happened to him on the show - and how he grew from it, along with Brian - that is true. :)

Thank you so much for reading, and for your kind words.  I hope to  continue to read your own story, either here or on your writing site. Can't wait to read the rest of it!  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Great update! Sounds like poor Justin has had a pretty difficult life... hopefully, things will begin to look up when he & Master Kinney are properly introduced!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Well, both men's lives will be changed, I suspect.;)  Both are missing things (whether material or emotional) that they need.  I'm working on the next part right now, so should be up soon.:)  Thanks for reading, and for the comments, my friend.  See you soon!!  ~Kim

Oooh I love the time period you've chosen and the juxtaposition of Brian's extreme wealth and Justin's extreme poverty. You have such a great descriptive style that you could almost feel Justin's pain every time he moved.  What a relief when Vic decided to just pick him up! It's nice to see Vic's character so prominent in the story thus far. Definitely looking forward to the telling of this story!

Author's Response:

Hi, there!  I love your insightful comments about the story chapter. I think each man will learn something from the other that is presently lacking in them.  Thank you for letting me know what you enjoyed in this part, and I'm delighted that you liked it! Their encounter will be coming up in the next part, which will be posted soon. Your support is very much appreciated.  ~Kim

Another great chapter, Kim!

I love how you introduced Vic into the story. I had to laugh at his comment -  "Don't worry, young Justin.  I may window shop and admire beauty when it's there...but I won't touch." Haha. I can just imagine Vic saying that or something similar. I remember some of Vic's more quirky comments to Justin, especially in Season 1.

Along with everyone else, I am looking forward to seeing the master getting his first true look at his bedridden guest; although, I love how descriptive you always are with your stories. It really makes it feel real. I do try to do the same in my own stories, at least at the beginning, but I seem to lack to patience to continue it on. LOL.

Loving the story, and looking forward to more! :) *Janet*

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet!  I appreciate you taking the time to read and review this; especially knowing how insane your own schedule is! Thank you for pointing out what you liked, too; I always enjoy reading what others think.  And yeah, I LOVED Vic and Justin's scenes together. I still remember that one where Vic offered him $20, and when he offered to go 'get the camera' when B and J were making out at the table.  I hated when they killed him off!  But I thought he fit in this plot, so I'm glad you agree. :)

I'll have the two guy's first real encounter coming up in the next part. Thanks again. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Phyllis!  You're so encouraging to me, and so many other writers. :)  And I thought Vic would fit in well in this story situation. I'll have Brian's first face-to-face meeting between B and J in the next part, which will be up soon. Thank you for all the support. ~Kim

What a great story.  Can't wait until Brian sees the cleaned up version of Justin.  I am new to reviewing, but have been reading so many of the stories for quite a while.  A period piece  adds something completely different to the usual Brian & Justin story & this one had my attention immediately.  Thanks for your wonderful imagination.

Author's Response:

Hi, Marilynne!  First of all, welcome to MW!  I'm glad you joined us. :)  I'm happy that you chose to read this story, and that you like historical fiction.  This will be the first of that type I have written, so I hope I continue to do it justice.  Thank you for reading, and for your kind words. I love historical romances so this is right up my alley.

Brian is going to be quite pleased with his unexpected guest once he's awake and cleaned up.

Can't wait to find out Justin's circumstances as to whom he was running away from and how he got to be where he was that night.

Should be interesting.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry!  Yes, I think Brian will be surprised what a 'cleaned-up' Justin looks like; he certainly didn't make a good impression the first time. You will find out more about Justin's background coming up. Thank you for reading, and for commenting.  ~Kim

Now this is an interesting change - thoroughly enjoyed it. Great visual - I could feel myself there looking across from a haughty Brian Kinney. And I don't want to think of the smells (when I watch historical based shows I'm always glad TV isn't smellavision...LOL) I can just imagine a fiesty, street hardened Justin turning Brian's world upside down - especially a clean-up and beautiful Justin - can't wait.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  I'm so happy you liked the first chapter. :)  And yes, both men will be in for some big changes coming up.  A couple of familiar faces will be showing up, too. ;)  This is my frist historical story, so I hope I do it justice. I totally loved this! The opening chapter is a home run, girlfriend. Your historical descriptions were perfect and had me visualize being there. I'm going out on a limb and predicting this may be your best writing, ever. You opened with vivid visuals and a sympathetic character for the reader to get attached to with wonder how he will turn out - what happens to him. Add to that, we have a main character who is complex and interesting. The perfect beginning of a successful novel. Bravo!

Since you give excellent character development, all you have to do is have unique names to produce an original novel worthy of publishing. I'm not suggesting it now, just a compliment that the quality of your writing stands out worthy of reading without needing to have the force of B & J in this one.

I'm truly impressed/entertained, and looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Hi, Bob!  Wow, you have me blushing now! Thank you for your kind words.  You know, I remember the very first review you left for me on one of my stories when I first started posting "(Arms Wide Open)" and I remember how that encouraged me. You continue to do that now.  I'm happy that you liked this first chapter.  I'm enjoying trying to keep them in character based upon the time period, as well as researching details about the Victorian era.  I hope you continue to enjoy this. Thank you again for all the kind words; I really appreciate that. And actually, I always wanted to publish a book.  Maybe one day....:) ~Kim

Hey Kim!

You've managed to captivate me in just a few lines. I always marvelled at the way you describe a scene and allow the reader to imagine every detail, to plunge forward in the atmosphere and you sure didn't disappoint with this first chapter. I loved everything about this and am really eager to read more. I'm very interested in the boy's (I assume it's Justin) backstory, why he is living in the streets, what happened to him, etc... I'm usually not a fan of historical, although I've enjoyed some occasionnally and you have me hooked already. But again, your writing is such a pleasure for your readers.

Can't wait for the next chapter. Thank you my friend :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend - I am humbled by your words, because I consider you to be such a good writer yourself. :)  I'm so glad that you liked the first chapter, and I'm really enjoying doing research for this story.  Thank you so much for reading, and especially for all the feedback. Hi Kim,

Great start to what I believe will be another beautiful love story d84;a039;d84;a039;. I don’t think there are many historical pieces out there but I do enjoy them and am very excited about this one.

I’m very curious what our beautiful, wealthy brunette will think of his young, blonde vagabond when he is all cleaned up. I suspect he’ll be unexpectedly pleased!

I’m also curious about Justin’s back story and why he is on the streets. Of course I can hazard a guess but I’ll hang in and wait for that revelation 😊.

I’m intrigued. You’ve succeeded in sucking me in with one chapter! Looking forward to more.

Thank you!

Laura

Hi, Laura!  I'm delighted to see you reading this one, and trusting in me to finish it. Thank you for the entertainment. I cannot wait till next week <3

Intriguing start, Kim! With my schedule I can hardly find time to write, let alone read... but I do love historicals. Sadly, there are so few of them. I am wondering what our cold and wealthy brunet will think when he sees a cleaned up blond? *Grins* And, I'm sure there is quite the story, if not angst, regarding why our blond is in such a state. Looking forward to finding out. Great start! *Janet*
