Not surprising that Brian needs reasurances from Justin.  Think of how funny it would be if Mikey was around.

Good thing Justin is there to keep him calm at the hospital.

Loved the interaction with Gus And Justin 😊 Of course Gus would see Justin as his second Daddy. In his world, having 2 mommies and 2 Daddies is as natural as breathing. And your depiction of our boys is spot on.

Thank you you for sharing such a heart warming story.

Author's Response:

Hi, Deborah! First of all, welcome to our FB page and our website!  I'm delighted that you became a member of both. :) Thank you for not only choosing to read this one, but for taking the time to comment; both are deeply appreciated.  I do write a lot of Gus into my stories, so I'm glad that you like reading about his interaction with his 'daddies.'

Thanks again for the support! I hope you will continue to enjoy what I write. :)  ~Kim

Dear friend,

What a lovely story.  Brian is reminded, once again, of how good Justin is to him.  And it was also sweet to see Gus including Justin as "Daddy".  It makes me smile remember that we both worked on how to word that one sentence about Gus.

Thanks again for the lovely time in Minnesota!

All my best,

Jackie Mag

Hey Kim,

I had to take time away from fun things due to work and other stuff as you know, but I am sort-of back!

Really like this chapter, especially Brian coming out of it. Anaesthesia can be quite weird :)

I can totally see Brian lashing out from fear... spot on Kinney personality!

the joking with them with the sedative kicking in was a nice touch to lighten his fear a bit :)

Author's Response:

Yes, I do not think Brian is a model patient - ha!  Glad you enjoyed this one.  I kind of liked writing him as the curmudgeon here.  I'm sure he would NOT be an obedient, little patient.  Not unless it was something like the cancer, and he was just too sick to complain.;)  Thanks again for the feedback, Kathy!  ~Kim

Loved this story, as always with your stuff.  It cheered me up, as I just finished reading a story with a suprisingly depressing ending!

I had to wait till this was finished as I can only follow so many B/J stories and keep them straight (pun intended) in my head.

Ong that was amazing, lol I loved them sitting in the seats that cracked me up. I wonder if that teacher had made a move how much fire would have burst out of Brian's eyes lol.

i cried happy tears when Gus said what he said and the love that poured out from him was simply amazing. That little boy has so much love in his heart.

I li can't wait for more.

Thank you for writing this xox

Looks like things are getting back to normal...LOL  Probably a good thing that Justin doesn't have to deal with 'Sydwell' anymore - territorial much????  So sweet of Gus wanting his daddy and cast for show and tell.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  Yeah, I think Justin's glad he can now take care of Brian's therapy 'personally' (wink, wink).  Show and tell is coming up next as the epilogue. I hope you continue to enjoy it. Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment! I really do appreciate that.  ~Kim

These two never fail to make me laugh and I so needed that this week. You really write them perfectly. Brian is so not a good person to look after injured or sick, Justin is a better person for it lol

You have to write Gus bringing his dad to show and tell plzzz if I beg lots will you. You know me and kids stories lol

excellent work as always c

What a fabulous chapter. Loved everything about it, Kim.

I love how  Brian and Justin are so comfortable in their relationshipin this 'verse  and how Brian allowes Justin to take care of him in his own special way. Also I'm a sucker for this quintessential B/J banter.  Lookinh forward for more...

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! Thanks for reading this latest chapter, and for your comments about what you like regarding this story.  I'll have a short epilogue coming up before working on a new story behind the scenes. :)  Hope to see another one of yours on here soon as well. :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading, and for taking the time to comment, Marie-France.  For once, I have a story that doesn't have a lot of drama in it. :)  There will be a short epilogue, and then it's onto a new story. Thanks again for all the support. :) ~Kim

Lol yep I can see Justin being the boss in this relationship because he is sneaky as well and he isn't fazed by Brian's gruffness. While others get all hurt and bent out of shape at Brian's blunt no nonsense way Justin just sees him and calls him out. It helps that he knows Brian's Achilles heels Gus and himself

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  Yeah, Justin is definitely as he said before 'onto him.'  He's a very creative individual in a lot of ways - ha!  I'm glad you're reading and enjoying this story. Thank you for reading, and for the feedback.  You know how much that is appreciated.  ~Kim

Wow.  I didn't realize how much damage had been done that it required plates and screws!  It's nice that Brian decided showing Justin and actually telling Justin how much he means to him.  I'm sure there will be continued therapy in their future.

Author's Response:

Hi, Phyllis!  Yes, the doctor said I did a good job when I broke it - ha!  I DO have all those screws and the plate in my arm that will stay there forever. And even after four months, it's still somewhat swollen, but it is pretty much back to normal now (thank God).

Thank you as always for reading and commenting.  I'll have a short epilogue coming up, and then a new story in the works after that.  Also looking forward to reading your story as well. :)  ~Kim

Awwwwe my heart melted with Gus, that was just what he needed and I hope we see more if it. I love seeing them altogether.

You did a seriouly great job with this xxx

Author's Response:

Hi, Vicki - yes, Brian is not a good patient - LOL!  Major Drama Queen. ;)  Only his son can totally make him calm.  And the things he allows just for him (and Justin).  Just like you, I love to write Gus and Brian together. I loved their scenes on the show. :)

What a great chapter.  You've caught Brian's attitude perfectly.  Having Gus showed up made it even greater.  The pics went perfect with this chapter.  Love the TV tray, we used to have several that were simular.  Love where Justin hid the pill bottle.  Did Brian ever get his pain pills?

Author's Response:

Hi, Phyllis!  Thank you for your kind words. :)  I really should try to include more photos like I did in some of my older stories, because you're right; they certainly do help to visualize things (I loved the ones you chose for Brian's firehouse loft, BTW!  Especially the swinging bed. ;)).  As for the pain pills - I never did get to that, did I?  LOL!  Maybe his Sonny Boy lessened his pain, or at least took his mind off it.

Thank you for reading, and for the feedback, my friend.  I hope you have a great weekend trip!  Loving your story.  ~Kim

It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt. Justin has all my sympathy because Brian is the worst patient ever.

I love Brian when he is so protective of Justin, but I have a feeling that Newton's Law will strike again. Things will not end well for Kinney.

Hi, Kim!  Thrilled to see you reading this story!  Well, let's just say that Brian will continue to not be a model patient. ;)  After my own injury, though, I decided to make lemonade out of lemons, although I hope I was a better patient than Brian will  be - ha!  Thanks again for reading, and for the feedback; it is greatly appreciated. So thrilled to see a new story from you Kim. I'm thrilled to know your wrist is well enough top allow you to write a multi chapter series (even if you had to work same way Adrian worked on her paintings...)

I LOVE your fluent rich style of writing and how IC everything is ESP when it comes to the smaller details and the way B/J intercat.  The way you used your own experience with such humor and flair is really inspiring. Oh and I love the typical B/J banter. And may I just add the the titles you attach to each chapter are just brilliant.

Can't wait for more my friend

Author's Response:

Thank you for your kind words, my friend. I'm glad that you are enjoying this story.  :)  We already knew that Brian would queen out over his injury - ha!  I should have the next part up soon.  I don't plan on it being a long one. Thanks again for your support.  ~Kim

Gotta love jealous Justin!

Hello, Kim!

Finally, I could take the time to begin reading this. My life has been plagued with work, and kid drama that has had me reeling! This was a nice escape from that!

I love the creativity of using your own experiences. It makes all the stages so obviously genuine. Seeing Brian have his own version of 'Queen out' moments is pure enjoyment! Poor Justin. What he must endure - haha. One thing is for certain, Sunshine definitely knows what his petulant patient most needs. Great story. Enjoying it immensely! :)

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet!  Thank you for taking the time to read and especially commenting; I really appreciate that, knowing your busy work schedule and your own writing.  I'm glad you're enjoying the story.  And yes, Brian will have some other 'queen-out' moments before it's all said and done. I don't really intend on making this a long one (I know; you've heard that before - ha!), so maybe two more chapters?  Thanks again for your encouragement. :)  ~Kim

What a riot!  Brian has to be the worst patient ever!

Author's Response:

Hi, Lorma! I know!  He will NOT be a 'good, little patient' by any means - ha!  But I don't think Justin's going to be a pushover, either. ;)  I'm glad that you're enjoying the story, Lorma. Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that.  ~Kim

Great update.

When doesn't he ever think about his dick and sex. Justin certainly has his hands full for the next couple of weeks. There's nothing to worry about with the PT, Brian is devoted.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry!  No, Brian definitely is not going to be the ideal patient, but that is half the fun. ;)  I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Thank you for reading, and for the comments. I'll have the next part up soon. :)  ~Kim

Lol Sunshine is jealous huh, it's so funny to see it come out and Brian is so not a good person to let be taken care of. I csnt wait to see what's next.

Excellent work xx

Author's Response:

Hi, Vicki, my friend!  Yeah, I don't think Justin's too thrilled with Sydney, and Brian isn't helping, nor will he be a very cooperative patient. ;)  But that's half the fun. :) Thank you for reading, and for the comments.  ~Kim

I could feel Brian's nerves and understand them fully. Justin is really great with him. This was great as it showed another side to Brian. I do hope that Justin doesn't let the guilt take over him.

Brilliant work x

Author's Response:

Hi, Vicki!  Thank you for choosing to read this story.  No, I can say that Justin won't have time to dwell on that - Brian will be keeping him too busy - LOL!  Thank you for taking the time to comment, my friend.  ~Kim

A jealous Justin is so adorable, I could really imagine how he watched the two the whole time to make sure that it didn't get out of hand- HA!

Brian is so perfectly in character, I'm enjoying the story very much :)

Author's Response:

Hi, Sarah!  I'm thrilled that you're enjoying this story!  I'm really enjoying your current one as well, BTW. :)   And Justin is definitely not fond of dear Sydney - ha!  But I don't think he will have to endure him for too long. Thank you for reading, and for the feedback, Sarah.  I am very appreciative. ~Kim

Lol a jealous Justin is very amusing

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  Yes, I don't think Justin's too thrilled with Sydney - ha!  But at least it will be short-lived, and something tells me that Justin will know how to keep his man satisfied. ;) Thanks for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment, Chris. I really appreciate that.  ~Kim

Dear, dear me.  The therapist is going to piss Justin off.  Remembering Justin's problems with his hand after the prom, I'm sure he'll know if the therapist gets out of hand.

Author's Response:

"Gets out of hand" - LOL! Not sure if you meant that intentionally as a pun, but it was great!  I hadn't thought of that angle, with Justin having his own hand therapy.  I know when I broke my wrist, I still had finger dexterity, so except for picking up large, foam blocks, they didn't really have me picking up paper clips, or anything like that. But I definitely think Justin's not too thrilled with Sydney - ha!  Thank you for reading, Phyllis, and for the comments.  Really enjoying your story as well!  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! Thank YOU for reading, and for your comments.  Yes, I don't think Justin is too pleased with Brian's therapist - ha!  And you know Brian is going to take full advantage of it. I'm happy that you are enjoying this story!  Thank you for the support; it is greatly appreciated.  ~Kim

Hey! How'd I miss this one, LOL!?!?

But a good Brian/Justin humor Fic is always a good Sunday night read! Somehow I don't think Brian is going to be the most cooperative of patients!

Hopefully, your wrist has been healed. I got lucky when I fell off a ladder a few years ago, only six stitches in my shin!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yes, the hand is pretty much back to normal. Main thing that will take time is my grip strength in my right hand, and some of the swelling on top. But I now have ten screws and a metal plate in my wrist.  Would NOT want to go back to this experience ever again!

Thanks for reading what I have so far, and for commenting. I just posted the next part. I  hope you continue to enjoy it!  Thanks for the feedback, my friend.  ~Kim

Just caught up with both chapters. Poor Brian...poor Justin... Brian is never going to make a good patient. I do understand Brian's fear - although I've had enough surgeries now to almost be asleep when they wheel me in (a piece of advice - don't fall down four stairs onto your knees onto concrete - nothing good is going to happen.) I can see Justin being run off his feet when he gets Brian home...hmmm...sedation sounds good...but for which one...LOL  Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry - sorry to hear about all your surgeries!  OMG, that one sounds even more painful than mine!  There will be more give-and-take coming up in the next part, which I should have up some time this evening. Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment! It is greatly appreciated.  ~Kim

Reviewer: sophiesmom (Signed) · Date: June 24, 2017 12:49 AM · On: Patients Are Not a Virtue

Brian is not the world's best patient.  Justin knows from experience. Can just picture the nurses needing Justin to calm his fears. Is Justin sure he wants to put up with Brian for the two weeks he isn't allowed to work? Maybe Deb could stay with him and Justin could go on vacation. Ha!

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry - No, and he will continue to not be a 'model' patient. But what fun would that be? LOL!  I think Brian might find that his little Sunshine isn't as easily swayed as he thinks he might be, though. He may even turn out to be WORSE than Debbie.;)

Thanks again for reading, and especially commenting. I shoud have Part 3 up before the evening is through.  ~Kim

Is that how you more or less broke your arm?

If only Brianstood by to catch him. Ha!

Author's Response:

Hi, Sherry!  Thank you for reading on here, and for your comments!  To answer your question, yes. My 80-year-old mother had dragged an 8-ft ladder into her bedroom with the intention of looking at a plastic, rectangular-sized light fixture cover that was directly over her bed.  Now let me preface this by saying she had TWO other bedrooms that she could have used, but, no, she had to sleep in this one!  So - afraid that she would get up on the ladder and try to do it herself - I pushed the bed away and dragged the ladder to where it needed to be, got up to examine it, and was on my way down to search for some electrical tape when I apparently missed a step, and first thing I knew, I was on the ground with my right hand at a grotesque, 90-degree angle, bent backward.  Pain was excruciating, and I pretty much knew immediately that it was broken.  Also hit my right leg, but it wasn't broken (thank God).  To add insult to injury, ten minutes after we left to go to the ER, my younger brother came into the house and fixed the light fixture!  Aargh!

But yes, this was very close to what happened, so I decided to make 'lemonade out of lemons,' so to speak. :) Thanks again for leaving some feedback; I really appreciate that.  ~Kim

Loool Brian is such a terrible patient! I do feel for him though - having your hand in a cast is the WORST!

Awesome update :) I decided to read before I went to work, so that the story would actually register, and so I'd have energy to actually say something coherent.

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  Yeah, Brian is not going to be a 'patient' patient - LOL!  I'm glad you had the chance to read this chapter.  Hoping you feel better soon, and get some much needed rest. :)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Aha.  Do I sense the speaking from personal experience here.  So you make a good thing, this story out of a bad thing?

Hi, Phyllis!  Yes, exactly. Broke my right wrist on St. Patrick's Day, so I decided to make lemons out of lemonade, so to speak. ;)  Thanks for reading, and for the comments. ~Kim

Love Brian's parting comment.  Enjoyed seeing Brina calmed by his Sunshine's presence.  The descriptions of the pain from the broken wrist made me squirm since I have a friend who recently broke their wrists.  That really had the ring of truth - OUCH!  Loved this chapter!  Bill

Hi, Bill!  Yeah, trust me. Breaking your wrist is extremely painful.  So thankful mine is almost back to normal now.  I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter, my friend. TY for reading and for your comments.  ~Kim

Fantastic first chapter, lol I can picture him up that ladder jumping outta his skin at Brian. Their banter made me smile, it was like listening to a married couple trying to make the other laugh first. I cannot wait for more xx

Author's Response:

Hi, Vicki!  I loved your description of their interaction!  I do like to write humor, and this one will definitely not be a drama-filled one, that's for sure (just a smidgen).  I do hope you enjoy the rest.  I should have the next chapter up at least by tomorrow.  Thank you for reading the first part, and especially for the feedback, my friend. ~Kim

Thanks for this start Kim! I adore their complicity and seeing them in their everyday life and domestic work. I hope the ladder will not hurt them too much! So what will happen to Mr. Neanderthal ?

Author's Response:

Hi, Marie-France!  Well, you will find out in the next chapter what happens to our branwy he-man - LOL!  This will be more of a humor piece than anything, but I hope you enjoy it. :) Thank you very much for reading, and for the feedback, my friend. I appreciate that.  ~Kim

"Art imitating life" it seems. Should that be the major theme of this story, reading will be very interesting. I've gotten to read so little the last few years, and thus forgot how great an author you are, Kimberly. With original characters and a dynamic plot, you certainly could be published. One can visualize your stories with no effort. Great start!

Changing lightbulbs.  What an interesting concept and nothing you'd expect.  Brian didn't even expect it.  It will be fascinating to see if Brian can change a lightbulb, if he gets his meal, or gets to have his way with Sunshine.

Author's Response:

Ha! Well, you will find out very soon. I hope to get Ch. 2 up tonight or tomorrow.;)  This was based on my own experience (except I didn't have someone like Brian around to help - I wish!
