One more quick review to say how much I like the banner - ties into the story perfectly, especially the photos of Brian with Justin.

So beautifully written, it nearly made me cry. Just so sad that it took them 11 years to get back together. They are so perfectly in character, I really could see it all happen in front of my eyes. Thank you so much for this wonderful story!

Forgot to mention, I adore the way your writing creates such longing and beauty. I especially appreciated Brian recalling Joan drunk and stumbling around on the street. The way it was written felt so real, even though it was a moment just mentioned in passing.

Aw, I LOVED this. As you know, I love the idea of Brian and Justin growing into more mature men apart and reuniting down the road, partly as new people but also with a sense of knowing each other to the core. I also really appreciated Brian's reaction to his mother's death. It was conflicted, not uncaring, and the grief that he did feel was palpable. Great job, Alois! One of my favorites from you for sure :)

Author's Response:

I thought of you while writing this one, since I was convinced you would like it. I'm glad I was right LOL

I loved writing about Brian and Joan's relationship. It was so heartbreaking to see Joan rejecting her son in the show, I always wonder if she could have changed her mind one day. I hope so. But one thing is sure. Their relationship was way more complex that just bad mother/ good gay son, although, Joan was not a good mother to Brian.

I loved writing about Brian and Justin reuniting along the way. It seemed natural and I'm also fond of them maturing and finding their way back to each other like they belong.

thank you so much for this wonderful review!!!!!!!

You're such an amazing storyteller, dear half brain, and offer unique insights into the QaF characters. I'm honored to beta for you. <3

Like many of your stories, this one tugs at my emotions. I want to cry, rant, and shake Joanie till her bones rattle. None of that, however, would make her see sense or become a good mother. She's too enshrouded by her faith, with her wits dulled by alcohol.

Absolutely heartwarming, the way Justin begins his return to Brian at the time Joan departs this earth. And the farewell at Joanie's grave - it doesn't get better than that.

Many, many thanks for this gem of a story, my dear friend. <3

Author's Response:

I'm not sure I would have posted this one if not for your enthusiastic response when you edited it, so thank you my dear half brain!! I'm quite proud of this one, truthfully. I was touched by it as I wrote it too LOL I think I'm way too fascinated in writing relationships within a family, either a traditionnal one, or a chosen one. That's probably why I was so fond of QAF, and I want to defend each and every character of this show, because they are representing a family to me. The bond these characters share is amazing!

I loved Brian and Joan's scenes in QAF, no matter how painful they could be. The one in Brian's office, or when he says 'fuck you' to his mother when John accused him of molesting him, really moved me. I don't believe in 'black and white' but God, I wish someone could have woken up Joan.

Thank you as always, for your support!!!!!
