What a lovely story- it really made me smile today- I do adore your writing so much :)

And you brought a tear to my eye with your comments about your friend Michael- (and yes, I’m forever annoyed that Mikey spoils the honour of that name, it’s one of my favourite names on one of my most hated ever characters!) It sounds like you two had a truly beautiful soul bond that we would all wish to find in someone.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story <3

Author's Response:

Thank you. I had to laugh over the comment about Mikey daring to be called Michael.  It's exactly how I feel. And yes, my Michael and I did have a special bond. He gave me a copy of Armistead Maupin's "Significant Others" just around the time he was diagnosed because he said that despite his string of boyfriends, I was the most "significant other" in his life.  I still miss him. I guess I always will. But every time I watch QAF I think about all the arguments we would have had about it and it makes me laugh.  He would have loved Emmett but would have teased me endlessly about the "bad boy fascination" thing I have with Brian.  I think he would actually have identified with Mikey, not least because he would have really really fancied Ben.  Glad you enjoyed the story I wrote "for" him.

I don't think I ever saw this story before but it is beautiful.  A short little scene where they truly connect without sex-

Author's Response: Thank you. I think even in canon there were a few of those moments. Like the Forever Young scene.

I think your friend Michael would have approved of this story.  Having Justin giving Brian flowers showed that he isn't shy about showing his feelings.  And this birthday is going to be one for the books.

Author's Response:

Thank you very much.  That's a lovely thoughtful comment.  I hope he would have liked it.  And yes, I think part of Justin growing up is being prepared to express his feelings.  And I believe that Brian being prepared to accept that is part of him growing up emotionally.

Hi, Wendy! What a unique twist on this episode! And I agree; Brian's childhood was such that he probably seldom was shown love, that he really didn't know how to openly express it; hence, his hesitation over being 'ridiculously romantic,' or even knowing HOW to 'court' someone properly.  I love how Justin chose his own birthday to demonstrate to Brian how much he appreciates HIM. And I'm glad that Brian reacted the way he did.

Lovely story! Thank you for posting this on here.  I'm looking forward to many more of these (hint, hint). :)  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you Kim.  Yes.  There will be more.  I want to start posting more regularly.  It's just a matter of figuring out how to juggle the time.  I'm off to Adelaide on a business trip this week so that's two days gone for a start.  Oh well.

I enjoyed your story so much, that Justin is a sneaky little devil. Brian surprised me I wasn't sure he would accept the flowers, I guess that's why Justin told him no bitching about it today but tomorrow he could say what ever he wanted. I liked how he stood up to Brian not knowing what would happen.I adored Brian hiding his smile (almost) and he called Jenn to ask if the invit was still open for him to dine with the family on Jus's birthday, of course he thought about a little sex before and Jus knew he would.Shot down, he'll have to wait.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  I'm glad you liked.  I think it was important for Justin to be able to express himself freely with Brian - what kind of relationship is it if you can't? And also I felt that the whole "wooing" thing shouldn't just be down to Brian.  I mean, we know that Brian stuffed up with Justin's birthday gift. But despite a story arc that specifically covered Brian's birthday we have no idea whether Justin gave him a gift.  And that wasn't a big deal for anyone. While they were all over Brian about celebrating Justin's birthday.  WTF?
