Thank you for your responses Bob. I will post responses to the reviews directly.

FYI, the notifications are missing again. So it's safe to say the problem on the site is related to that. I can't wait for SSW, counting the days LOL

Author's Response:

Finally got some sleep today. Long night for me. Thank you for understanding, Alois. Things are not perfect but we are basically functioning. And many of us are looking forward for the new website which so far (knocks on wooden desk) is on schedule for mid-January.

About the notifications without any comments related to it yesterday, it happened when Bob you fixed the notifications problem about reviews. Not sure why, but I received all the notifications I didn't received in the last 24 hours practically at once (on one hour of time). It's the first time it happens when a notifications problem is fixed. Not sure this information is useful, but I thought I would mention it.

Author's Response:

Thank you for that information. Every detail helps. With this old software we're going to be limping until the new website goes live and we're confident of the Jan. 15th launch date. Thank you very much for understanding.

Did this affect comments also? I got a few yesterday and now they're gone. I also got a few notifications but then there wasn't any comments. This happened yesterday.

Author's Response:

I remember you getting two spam reviews that I personally removed. Can't remember which story it was on. There were about 3 dozen bad comments to clean off the website from that troll. We're very sorry for this, and we are doing the best we can with this outdated software that is prone to so many security problems. The new website will be way better. And it should be online in about a month.

Hey Bob,

I have to say, I can't wait for the new website to be functioning. My story has been impacted not once, but twice this month and I just lost the responses to the end of a story I've worked very hard on for more than a year. You guys of course do your best and I know dealing with all the issues of the website must be very tiring for you. Again, I appreciate your hard work and am very grateful that SSW is coming soon.

is there by any chance a possibility to hace a copy of the reviews posted the last days so that I could repost them myself? I know from experience readers don't repost their review except for a few exceptions and I really wanted to respond to the ones who had commented on the end of my story. I don't have a lot of hope on that one but I have to ask.

Thank you again for your work.

Author's Response:

We're currently in the middle of a total website restore from a complete site backup dated Dec. 14th. Sadly, I have no idea what files might hold the review comments in our backup and I have no way to decode them from encryption, even if I knew what file ( out of nearly 30,000 files) to find them in.

Restoring from a backup is sometimes an ALL or NOTHING sort of repair event. This problem required an ALL file restore to fix our problems.

If you remember them, it's perfectly acceptable for you to leave a review comment to your story, and address those reviews from memory, even if you might not remember the name of who posted them.

Forgive me; it's the best I can offer with this software.

bob
