I just discovered this little story...VERY nicely done!  I love how you captured the intensity of the moment between truthfullness and dishonesty.  You were spot-on with cannon characters, too!  (All too often, like you already mentioned, Michael was his own best enemy.)

Author's Response: Thanks. I always through Mikey was a coward for hiding his sexuality. Maybe if he was honest with himself he could have grown and developed a decent personality... Later Hon ~ Kathleen

Kathleen, it's me again. I felt most of the reviews that were written the people were still reacting to the recent hate crimes in Orlando. I understand watching CNN around the clock for days. The families, and the survivors are forever changed I don't know how you heal after such a loss. I told PA Boi all I could think of was Matthew Shepard who died in 1998, the 22 school children in Sandy Hook, and I remembered the last show of season of qaf with the bashing, and many tv movies dealing with hate for a person or group often taken from a true story. I'm straight but have a number of gay friends and black friends, I worry my friends may be a victim of some crazed person with an assalt weapon no one needs a repeat gun with standing the military and swat officers. I loved your story from a point of view of mikey being a jerk and not about equality, sorry to rant but it has been a hell of week for many family's and communities.

Author's Response: Yes, I'm surprised by how many people went off on me, about posting this right after Orlando (not so much here but other websites). But then again, those same people would be going off on me anyways, because as I posted on twitter, "Some Anti-Fans live in a canon world, they can't or won't accept AU/Anti-Michael fics. Evil Kathleen Strikes again! Matthew Shepard died almost 20 years ago, and people still can't accept everyone as individuals. We can only pray that ignorance is replaced by love and understanding as our youth comes of age... ~ Kathleen

I think the title should have been'' Stop whinning Michael''. Tracy was right about him being a jerk, he used her like he uses everyone, he can't come out, he has a yellow streak from his neck to his crack. Brian's remark was spot on. I liked your story it showed mikey for what he truly is. thanks for sharing your story.

Author's Response: ''Stop whining Michael.'' Yep, that would be a good title, now I'll get right on writing that one... He's an insecure person, and not just about his sexuality. Like the first time David was at his apartment and he kept apologizing for everything, even for apologizing... It's part of always have others (Brian) defending him, instead of standing up for himself and owning his issues/behaviors... Hugs Darling ~ Kathleen

It so true about how the minority's get more breaks than the norm.

Author's Response: It's part of being politically correct, but of course minorities have been discriminated again for ions... So maybe it's justified. Hopefully one day will all just be seen as people, not as gay, black or by our religion... ~ Kathleen

Sure Michael could have been out and proud at work then – and he could have ended up harassed, denied promotion or even fired. Things were different back then (2001) with not all the laws there are today to protect people based on their sexuality. If I was in Michael’s position back then I likely would have kept quiet about my sexuality at work as well.
And as for ‘cum clean or don’t come at all’, assuming it is Brian saying that, he could apply that equally to himself since at that point Brian wasn’t out to his own parents. Of course Brian had valid reasons that he wasn’t out to his parents just as Michael had valid reasons that he wasn’t out at work. But it’s usually only Michael who is criticized.

Author's Response: Thank goodness we do now have laws in place to protect discrimination. I guess being older and coming of age in the 1970, I had gay friends that were out even back then. It just depends on the person, and how comfortable they are being out. The 'Cum clean, or don't cum at all' line was Emmett's response from this episode on the show, and of course this is fiction, so...

interestung take on the situation.  Bill

Author's Response: We've come a long ways since 2000, but he could have been out and proud back then if he had a backbone and some self-confidence... Later Hon ~ Kathleen

"Come clean, or don't cum at all."  LOL, Kathleen! That is my favorite line in this one-shot.  This one certainly makes you think. And very ironic what happens here.

Thanks for posting this one, Kathleen. And for posting on MW.  Looking forward to meeting you in Toronto!!  ~Kim

Author's Response: Thanks Kim, It is curious that he was raised by Debbie, and hung out at the Liberty Diner after school, but felt so uncomfortable being out and proud... So unlike Brian's attitude of Fuck them all! Hugs Hon ~ Kathleen
