the hell with Mel, stop paying for their shit and take Gus from them

Author's Response:

Gus does love his Moms.  I think B&J are concerned about disrupting Gus's life and worry he may resent being seperated from L&M.  Glad you are still reading and enjoying this long saga.  Bill

Me can tell this is going to be a very good story.

We should all have an Alice. Have to love Jennifer. That must have been a new experience for Melanie hearing all those home truths. I hadn't considered the fact that Melanie had been led around by the nose by Lindsay. But, seeing it laid out like that, yes. I hope Melanie is able to get the house. She should have listened to Jennifer and made the offer right away. Also, glad that Jennifer spoke up about Michael's lack of support for his own kid. Am enjoying this story just as much as the first one. So glad you decided to give us the sequel. Thanks.

Author's Response:

It would be wonderful to have an Alice.  She and Jennifer are allies when it comes to taking care of the boys.  I agree, I don't a lot of people tell Mel just how things are.  I think Jennifer gave her a lot of food for thought.  Mel should appreciate hearing from another strong woman.  I am really happy you are enjoying the contining story!!!!!!!  Bill

I love how Jennifer put Mel in her place. Go Jennifer!

nice chapter.

Author's Response:

Jennifer doesn't let anyone take advantage of her boys.  Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed this chapter.  I love to hear from the readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

sweet B,  I'm ready for Thanksgiving, Chistmas, and New Years stories. The one I'm so ready for is the mini sunshine or maybe two. I wonder if Joan gets the help she needs. I hope Brian and Justin tell moron mikey that he is dead to them, no disrespect for Justin and the boys (Peter and John) will be tolerated, to concern himself with Ben and their foster son and with Jenny R.,and no tolerance of finding him at his home--he will press charges for trespassing. Love you Sally

Author's Response:

Hi Sally, glad you left a second review with the correct salutation.  I was quite disappointed that there was no "sweet B" at the start of your first review.  We have some news in the next chpater on mini Sunshine.  I have been out of twon for a few days so the update is taking a little longer than it should.  I believe that Mikey is like a brother to Brian and there are too many memories for Brian to cut him off completely.  Always happy to hear from you!!!!  Later, Sweet B

Enjoyed this chapter, can't understand why Melanie didn't want to use Jen in the first place.Jen wouldn't sell them a piece of junk, she would do her best for Jenny R. and Gus. Mel should know Brian and Justin only want to help her and the children. Mel seems to appreciate all the help and even saw Brian was a good father, I guess she felt she had no control over her life, funny when Brian had to give up some control to Justin is when he knew how much he loved Justin they shared, compromized ,loved each other and John and Peter and truly became a family. your Sally

Author's Response:

I think Mel is trying to hold onto some comtrol of her life.  Tough to controlthings when someone else is paying the bills.  I think Mel does appreciate B&J's help but she is a proud woman so it is hard for her to admit how she contrinuted to screwing up her life.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter.  Bill

I always enjoy your updates and re-immersing myself in Justin and Brian's life (and their extended family) in this series. I just reread this chapter because I didn't have a chance to leave feedback previously.

I really enjoy Jennifer's no-nonsense, common-sense approach with various family members. Good to see her straighten out Melanie, who needed to have interference vs. assistance defined. Sheesh. Why is it that Michael and Ben can't provide some monetary assistance? I know they don't have as much money as Brian and Justin but, even so, I don't get it. I know Red Cape Comics doesn't show much (if any) profit, but Ben must bring in a good salary as a professor at Carnegie Mellon (and maybe some revenue from his books).

I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Author's Response:

Happy to know you are still enjoying the story.  Jennifer will always stand up for her boys and point out when others don't treat them right or give them proper credit.  I think she may turn her attention to Mikey & Ben and there may be more help coming from them.  Thanks for taking time to review!!!!  Bill

Brilliant update.  Love how you portray Jen, she doesn't take any sh-- from anyone, who wants to put down Brian and or Justin.

Justin did well in explaining to Gus about bulling.  Peter was great with his approach in helping Gus learning to count and add.

Eager to see if Mel will ask Ben to put up the shelves and help with the new house.

Anxious to hear more of the coming new baby, especially the "family" thoughts.

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to next update.

JoAnn

Author's Response:

Hu JoAnn, Happy to know you are still enjoying the story, thanks for letting me know!!! I suspect Jennifer will mentin the closet organizers to Debbie who will pass it along to Ben. There will be some baby update in the next chapter. I don't think there will be any annoucment for a little while. Brian & Justin will enjoy their secret!!! Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill

Hi Bill  :  ) I apologize for the late review, LOL, love Mickey Mouse pancakes, especially with whipped cream and chocolate chips for the eyes, Ha- channeling my inner child here. The candy addition game was a cool idea  :  ) I like the fact that Jen isn’t pulling any punches here, she’s a strong woman. Great chapter, looking forward to the next :  ) *Hugs* Janet

Author's Response:

Hi Janet,  never too late for a review!!  Really pancakes of any size are wonderful.  Jennifer will always look out for boys and anyone not treating them right is in serious trouble.  Hope you continue to enjoy the story!!!  Hugs back to you,  Bill

There is something seriously wrong with Melanie.  Her dislike,

resentment, jealousy, whatever …., is way beyond anything I can

understand.  I just don’t get it.  Both Brian and Justin have done so

much for Lindsey and Melanie, and treated JR with care and affection.

So as they say, just what bug is up Melanie ass?  She doesn’t have to

be their best friend, but if not for Gus, they can just get lost.

DavidR

Author's Response:

I think her personality makes it very diffiuclt for Melanie to accept help, especially from Brian.  She is in a difficult position and not handling well at all.  Mother Taylor told her some hard truths and hopefully got her thinking about hoer poor attitude.  You are correct if not for Gus their would not be the huge cash flow to Lindsay and Melanie.  Always happy to hear your perspective, thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Hi, Bill! Another great chapter.;)  I love the little details you put into your stories. Loved Jennifer in full protective mode, and how strong you are depicting her in this 'verse.  I always loved her character on the show, and how she grew during that time as Justin's mother.  Loved the reference she made to 'my sons.'   Great.  And Gus is so cute in this 'verse, too!

Melanie - ugh.  Jennifer certainly put her in her place; good for her.  I kind of feel sorry for Justin and Brian here as far as the situation with Melanie & Lindsay goes.  If not for how much they love Gus, I think they would tell both women to take a hike! How much support are they expected to provide? At some point, they need to make it clear they won't be their money tree forever. Hopefully at some point that will happen.  I respect Brian and Justin, though, for always being there for their son, whereas Michael and Ben have been woefully deficient in that area. At least Ben sounds like he's trying to provide for the kids in some manner.

As always, a very enjoyable read, Bill!  Looking forward to future updates.  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi Kim, always thrilled to hear that you are enjoying my story, I have loved so many of yours.  I liked Jenifer in the show as well, once she ditched Craig!  You are correct if it wasn't for Gus B&J would have stopped the money train long ago.  Iy always annoyed me that Mel was so "independent" but never objected to Lindsay shaking down Brian for money.  At least now they have the written custody agreement so Gus can't be used for blackmail.  Hopefully if they buy this house the money flow can at least slow down.  Mikey likes the fun of being a parent but doesn't really want any responsibility for his daughter.

Thanks for taking time to review this chapter. I know you have a busy life so I appreciate abd you know how much writers love to hear from the readers!!!!  Bill

Score one for Mother Taylor lol! I absolutely love how Jennifer didn't take any guff from Mel and rightly put her in her place. Keep up the good work ;)

Author's Response:

Mother Taylor always looks out for her boys and she felt Mel was not treating them fairly.  Glad you enjoyed the latest chapter.  Thanks for the review!!!!!   Bill

Great chapter. Gus is such a sweet and caring kid.

It was good to see Jen put Mel in her place about the house

and about letting Brian and Justin pay for everything but not

wanting Ben to do anything to help.

Love that you continued this story.

Lorie

Author's Response:

Gus is a sweetheart, I always think maybe that would have been Brian if he had love and acceotance as a child.  Jennifer is always ready to defend her boys and I'm pretty sure she finds Mikey annoying.  I am glad you are enjoying reading the continuing saga.  I am enjoying writing it and love to hear from the readers.  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

It would serve Mel right if, Brian and Justin purchased the house and rented it to her, instead of buying it for her. Maybe she needs to stand on her own two feet before she takes on and debt...

Later ~ Kathleen

Author's Response:

Hi Kathleen, I thought about that idea. Wouldn't that just serve Melanie right!  Not sure I can be that mean to her but it is food for thought.  Thanks for taking time to review!!!!  Later,  Bill

I think I missed a review on teh last chapter. sorry. :( works has been a bit crazy busy.

I really enjoyed this chapter. The whole candy/math thing with Gus and Peter was sweet. Talk about making math fun! Kid of wish someone had done that with me when I was a kid. Not other way to explain that circle than "family". It's wonderful. The yare family personified. They represent how families should be and should strive for. yes there are hiccups at times, but these guys all seem to bring it all together well. Alice and Charlie give them the necessary kick in the ass when needed, and the boys consede to their experience.

I like how you are touching on teh bullying aspect. hopefully Margaret will be able to show Tony's parents the correct path, adn then in turm Tony. That way not having another Chris on their hands.

And Jennifer. I know I know...we all extoll out love of your Jennifer. She's really just fucking fabulous though!!!!!!!!! for one thing, you used one of my favorite sayings. Get off the cross as someone needs the wood. I had to chuckle when I read that. I never hear that expression. I love using it and it's effective. :) Jennifer is certainly able to put Mel in her place and doesit honestly. It's true that she tends to talk about her sense of strength and control, but seldom really takes action on it. Again, it's the sense of entitlements she seems to have, yet she'll fight you on that perspective, denying it whole heartedly.

Fanatstic chapter!! thansk for this. I really didn't get the sense that it was overdue or anything. Honestly, I'm waitingon updates on other fics that take faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar longer. It's always a happy moment for me when I see that you've added a new chapter.

Cheers,

Elaine

Author's Response:

Hi Elaine, always so great to read your comments and not just beacuse you are always so nice about the story. I have to say even as a kid I'm not sure i could have been conviced math was fun. Luckily Gus is a nicer boy than I was and he loves those "big boy" cousins. Alice & Charlie are an intergral part of the Taylor-Kinney household. They will really need them even more when a new baby arrives. Bullying is bad and I think it starts at home so that is where it needs to be stopped. I would be so sad if someone did not love Jennifer. It is hard to bullshit Mother Taylor she just does not allow it. Melanie found herself facing off with a really strong woman who is always looking out for her boys. Glad you enjoyed the last two chapters and thanks for being patient. It is always a happy moment for ME when I see you review and I mean that!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill

Love, love, love Jen in this chapter.  She laid it all on the line.  Especially the part about asking Ben to help with the closets.  Great idea.  Also Peter helping Gus count his candy.  Then you threw in fresh baked bread.  Now I'm hungry.

Author's Response:

Hello my fathful reviewer!!!! Always happy to see your comments and know you are still enjoying this saga. Jennifer always looks out for her boys and anyone who doesn't treat them right better take cover. The Lucce father & son are lucky Grandmom Jen wasn't taking Gus & Kevin trick or treating Anthny might have gotten the "Ron treatment" from her. I think if I lived with Alice I would wind up one of those people that has to be rescued by tearing down a wall of their hosue to get them out. Thanks as always for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mel dear, you are not in control of your life. If you want total control, finance your own damn life. Jennifer is right. Talk is cheap. Be a strong woman instead of just givig lip service and think people will accept it. Nobody is fooled. You can't have it both ways by making B/J pay for every damn thing and have them keep their mouth shut too. And let JR's dads do something. Geeze. JR is going to grow up expecting her uncles paying for everything too while she can just sit on her lazy butt like her parents. Poor girl.

Author's Response:

I think Jennifer gave Melanie lots of food for thought.  Mel was always kind of willing to take Brian's money but never appreciate it.  Brian was smart tp get a custody agreement for Gus in writing.  Lndsay may have been the one gambling but while Mel was sitting at home she shoudl have been paying more attention to what was going on.  Mother Taylor becomes Mother Tigress if she thinks anyone is taking advantage of her boys.  Maybe JR will be smart enough to realize how hard her uncles work instead of spending their days in a comic book store.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter!!  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Reviewer: shf1210 (Anonymous) · Date: March 02, 2016 11:41 AM · On: Chapter 3

Mel ran into Jennifer on the warpath willing to help Mel but protecting Brian, Justin and Gus above all. I think they should make Michael and Ben paint the walls not just install closet organizers. Then they at least contribute something. I like how Peter thought of a learning game for Gus that made it so Gus did not even realize he was learning. Peter could become an amazing Teacher if he continues this way. I like how John is becoming this normal teen age boy and the father and protector of his younger brother it's so good for him. My only complaint is this chapter had too much Mel and Jennifer and not enough Justin and Brian but I guess beggars can't be choosers and I am happy there was a new chapter. Hope to see more soon because you know I check 3 or 4 times a day.

Author's Response:

I don't really like to think about any wall that Mikey would paint.  I never think of him as handy around the house.  Peter is a smart guy and it is always useful to use that "big boy charm" to get kids to buy into your ideas.  Gus probably enjoys his testosterone weekends after time with his Mama and baby sister.  I think John's hormones are starting to kick into high gear.  I agree about a lot of Jen & Mel (not "too much" just a lot) that is why Brian came home from the office early for a little afternoon delight. I was going to end when Ted left Brian's office but thought B&J needed more time together.  The good part of lots of charaters is there are lots of story options, the bad part is trying to give everyone some time in the story.  Always look forward to your comments and I will try and post the next chapter sooner, I always have good intentions but sometimes time gets away from me.  Thanks for not holding a grudge and still posting a review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Stupid Mel sometimes the family have to work hard to get her to understand its family! Loved Mother Taylor giving Mel the big girl pants sermon

Author's Response:

It can be hard to accet help but if you need help you should accept ot graciously.  Mother Taylor never hesitates to speak her mind.  Mel was smsrt enough to not argue with her!!  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill
