Phew what an incredibly erotic scene... I've decided that virginal Brian is a massive turn on. Lol

My friend Mary wanted to get me off with this guy who looked like an ex-hippy with a huge beard and was a religious nut. I DON'T THINK SO!

Honking loudly like a goose, or a foghorn- Claire could be used to direct shipping.

So interesting and refreshing. Brian, as straight man. Wow! And Claire... my god, she is good person :D I liked her!!

Love the way you describe Justin, struggling feelings. Beautifully written! It's the way that i like see Justin's personality in stories, strong, pure, caring.

One word for this story "Wonderful"

                                              **Thank you for writing**

Author's Response:

Hi, Cristina!  Thank you for choosing to read this story, and for your lovely comments. I normally write in 3rd person, but occasionally feel like using 1st person as in this story. Hopefully I didn't confuse a lot of readers by switching back and forth between Brian and Justin, but I thought it was important to show how each one was feeling at certain times. I'm happy you liked Justin's portrayal in here.  And while I know that Claire was anything but caring on the show, she was perfect in here as one of the characters from the film. And I loved the French bulldog they used! If you get a chance, check the film out. it's very cute. Although I think it's actually called, "What HAPPENS Next." I think I had misspoken in my story notes, so I'll try to go fix that.

Thanks again for the support. I hope I can continue to write stories that you will enjoy.;)  ~Kim

Loved this story. I got the biggest giggle out of Brian naming the puppy Mrs. Kinney and the reasons why behind it.

Author's Response:

Hi, Shari! I'm so glad you enjoyed this story!  I can't tell full credit for the "Mrs. Kinney" name, since I was following the same type of thing from the film it was based upon. But I could certainly see some benefit to having a four-legged Mrs. Kinney as compared to the 'standard,' two-legged one.;)

Thanks for reading this story, and especially for the comments! I really appreciate your ongoing support. ~Kim

Hi, Kim! I was amazed when I saw this long story from you. I read it in one gulp back when you first published it during Christmas – it’s so interesting and rather unusual. I enjoyed seeing Brian here, how he grows, how he changes his cynical views, how he first realizes what’s going on and why he feels this way about another man.

Justin was incredible as well – so lonely, genuine, strong and loyal. I loved spending time in his head, his inner voice was unique – I was always anxious because he worried so much about Brian and whether or not his feelings would be returned.

This is one of the few stories where I liked Claire. She had her bad moments, but mostly she was really supportive and loving to Brian.

Thank you for this wonderful present, I loved it!I can't wait to see your other updates - amd new stories :)

Author's Response:

Hi, Katrin! Always great to hear from you.;)  I'm glad you enjoyed this story.  I enjoyed writing this one in first-person perpective; I don't often do that, but I may try to do that more often now.  I like to get into their heads, and I think it does shed more light on what they are feeling and thinking.

Thank you for reading this on LJ, and especially for taking the time to leave me feedback on here.  Both are much appreciated.  ~Kim

Reviewer: Ersilia (Anonymous) · Date: January 21, 2016 12:52 PM · On: Meet Mrs. Kinney

here I am reading your last completed story..I have no words.....and now I know why I'm waiting for your completed FF! They are so worth it! I love your way of stay put to the carachters even in a completely twisted plot. I love the way you describe their feelings and your graohic lyrics are so in tune with my sensibility. I love you as a writer..and hope you'll never stop to amaze me...

Author's Response:

Hi, Ersilia!  You don't know how much I appreciate your words of support and encouragement.  My family is going through a very rough time right now, and writing is my refuge to at least temporarily escape all the stress and sadness. So your review could not have come at a better time. Thank you is not really sufficient to describe how grateful I am at the moment, but I want you to know how much I appreciate your comments.  I still love to write about these two amazing characters, and have numerous story ideas. What I DON'T have, sadly, is enough time to write them all quickly!  But I DO hope to have more time next month while my mother is vacationing in Florida, so that will hopefully help me to write faster.  And I will definitely finish any story that I begin. I just wish I could update quicker.  In this case, this story was for a fan fiction challenge, and it had a deadline that had to be met, so that is why I was able to finish this one.;)

I probably will try to at least write something shorter for Valentine's Day (hard to pass that holiday up!), and I will have some additional new stories coming as well.  But I am working right now on the update to "My Heart's Desire," and then "Stallion," which are both close to completion. That will give me time to work on the new ones. :)

Thank you again for taking the time to comment, and for your wonderful words.  ~Kim

Enjoyable story, although at first I had a little trouble thinking of Brian in this context. It's ok though because you wove a good tale and made a believer out of me by the end. A sequal would be fun. It was also fun not to have Mikey in there with his old whiny self.

Keep warm and prayers for your brother.

Author's Response:

Hi, Suse! Thank you for reading this one, and especially for commenting. I understand completely about your skepticism, but I'm glad you gave it a chance and wound up enjoying it.  A couple of others have suggested a sequel; perhaps one day I can go visit Mrs. Kinney, Reggie, and their owners again.;)

As for Michael, not my most favorite of characters, so perhaps it's best I not go there - ha!

Thanks again for the feedback and the support! I greatly appreciate that, as well as your prayers.  My brother is still going through an extremely difficult time, and will be for quite a while, so I truly appreciate you thinking about him. He can use all the prayers he can get right now, along with my mother. Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.  ~Kim

I enjoyed this story so much.

I like AU stories, but I was unsure at first of such a "different" Brian... but he totally worked for me.  they all did actually.  Deb and Daphne were close enough to how we know them, but I really enjoyed the "nice" Claire and how this Brian and Justin were different, but still seemed familiar.  Enough of the ones we know shined thru.  I could read about these characters more and more.

Any thoughts of making this a universe with more stories?

Author's Response:

Hi, Kathy! Thanks for reading this one, and for your kind comments. I enjoyed the challenge that presenting Brian not so IC presented me, and I'm glad that you were okay with it.  And yes, it was kind of refreshing to actually have a supportive Claire.  Thank you again for the support.  And if I can think of a good plot, I would definitely think about a sequel!  Looking forward to more of your story as well. *Hugs* ~Kim

Lovely ending as always. Fishing into Brian's jeans pocket....trust Brian to invite Justin to move in like that....LOL

I did feel a sense of deja vu though- the last part of the previous chapter is similar to the 1st part of this chapter - parts are different - so I assume you rewrote it to improved it - but I thought I was loosing my mind - not an impossibility....LOL Just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't realize both parts were up.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  First of all, thank you for letting me know about the duplication. I did not realize I had done that, and you were right. i felt I needed to explain that Brian HAD tried to get in touch with Justin afterward. Sorry about the confusion! I have taken that part out of the previous chapter (insert redness in the face here - ugh!).

Anyway, thank you for reading, and for all the comments!  And thanks for the support.  ~Kim

Reading this fic encouraged me to finish the movie and I was just as impressed with it as your story. I think I enjoyed your story more only because you have written such insight into the characters. It made it all the more romantic. And I love how cute Brian was in this fic.

Delightful! :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  First of all, apologies for repeating part of the last chapter! Ugh. Didn't realize I had done that until someone kindly pointed it out.  I revised it somewhat as you may have noticed. I really enjoyed writing in this perspective, and have a new story coming up that will do the same thing. I do hope you like that one as well, but for now I'm moving back to my two WIPs to finish them.

I am happy that you enjoyed this fic!  You've always been so supportive from Day 1, and it is much appreciated. Thank you for reading, and especially for commenting.  ~Kim

Thank you for reading, and for your concern, Elly. My brother is doing much better physically, but he will have some major issues up ahead.   Another wonderful story.   I often don't like like AU's , choosing to stay at least with the Brian/Justin that I know and love but knew you wouldn't disappoint.  I always love your stories and this one was no exception.  Love the scene where Brian and Justin start exploring each other and a very clever way for them to get reunited.  Great story.  Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response:

Hi Sandy! Thanks for giving this one a try.;)  I admit I felt challenged writing Brian as a virtually inexperienced gay male, while keeping him as much IC as I could. I'm glad you felt I succeeded with that. Thank you for reading, my friend, and especially for the comments. ~Kim

Kim,  loved the story!  I'm usually skeptical of the 'take a movie and make it a qaf fanfic' but you did an excellent job!  I loved the movie and I loved your story just as much!

Author's Response:

Hi, Julie!  Yes, I admit I was a little hesitant about writing Brian this way, but I am glad you enjoyed it. My beta suggested it, and I liked writing in 1st person POV here. This was lovely! Justin and Brian should always be togther, no matter the circumstances. And although I really can't imagine Brian wearing baseball caps - or Justin either for that matter... somehow invisioning Gale wearing one is not so far off, LOL!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yeah, not sure that either one would be ballcap wearers, either.  But I'm glad you liked it. And with Gale, he's definitely more of a hat wearer, isn't he? And all kinds, too, but he sure likes that little beret of his!  And beards. Lots and lots of grizzly beards - ha! Thanks for reading, my friend. See you in June! ~Kim

Hiya Kim,

I read this little story in one go and once again I know why you are in my list of fave authors. This one was delightful. Loved, loved, loved the way you portrayed an insecure, lonely and a bit shy Brian being lured out of the closet by Justin.

I also loved the way you portrayed Claire. She was such a tragic character in the series. So to see here this way is heartwarming. The "love affair" between the dogs was a very cute sub plot. What is it with you and dogs? I guess you're as crazy about them as I am.

So sorry to hear about the family emergency. Hoping it will get better soon.

I started reading on "Stallion". It will take me a while to read it though. RL is kicking me around at the moment. Work and the care of an 81 year old mother takes up most of my time. But still happy about it....

Thank you for this lovely story.

XOXO

Soirsa

Hi, Meriam!  I loved your comments.;)  Thank you for reading, and for the thoughtful feedback. And I am more honored than you know to be considered one of your favorite authors. Thank you for telling me that. :)

You are right, BTW; I am a huge dog lover!  Mainly larger dogs, though, like labs and golden retrievers. Would love to have a labradoodle.  Maybe I'll write about one sometime.;)  Cheaper and less expensive to feed - ha!

I was a little nervous about portraying Brian as less confident in his sexuality, but I'm delighted that you enjoyed reading about his slowly growing attraction and love for Justin.  Thank you again for all the support! I hope you enjoy Stallion. It is close to being finished, but probably about 3 - 4 more chapters to go. ~Kim

Nice happy chapter.  If Debbie and Clair got together than everyone would have someone.  Really enjoying this AU.

Author's Response:

Hi, Bill! I really enjoyed placing Debbie and Claire in this story. Debbie is pretty much the same here with her brash character traits, while Claire is different.  I wish Brian had had some sort of support on the show like this. Claire here is misguided but well-intentioned.;)

This is a very different Clair than usual. Kind of nice to read about a normal Clair for a change.

Author's Response:

Yes, Claire is definitely more of a sympathetic character here. On the show, she was a real jerk (to put it mildly!).  It might be interesting to write a story about her and Brian growing up to show how both of them reached the point that they did.  I enjoyed writing all the twists and turns in this one; the idea was suggested by my beta. I'm sure that Reggie and Mrs. Kinney are happy about that move.  Of course we knew that Justin was going to say yes.  What else could he do.  And who knows, there may be a sequel somewhere down the line.  Perhaps Reggie wasn't as neutered as Justin thought.  Vets do make mistakes sometimes.  lol.

Hi Kim- Now it’s my turn to play catch up – again : / LOL, Reggie is making me want a pug now, really cute dogs too. My sister-in-law used to have one. The banter between Daphne and Justin  in chapter 7 is always fun to read, like two peas in a pod, those two ;  ) Clare’s reaction (chapter 8) to finding out it isn’t her son who is gay, but her brother, that was pretty funny, and Daphne – LOL, never, ever, get on that girl’s bad side. Looking forward to the epilogue :  ) *hugs* Janet

It's interesting that Claire has Emmett as her hairdresser and that she meets Justin at PFLAG. What a small world! I enjoyed the interactions here :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! Yes, I liked writing all the 'six degrees of separation' parts where so many of the characters were interconnected.;)  I couldn't resist Emmett as the flashy hairdresser; he seemed perfect for that role.;)  Thank you for letting me know that you enjoyed this part, and especially for the feedback.  ~Kim

I really like this story. I think you mean it's based on the film "What Happens Next", not "What Comes Next" though - "What Comes Next" is a very different film!

Author's Response:

You're probably right; in either case, I am glad you are enjoying the story. I tried to post the last chapter today, however time slipped away from me. I should have the last part posted tomorrow. I hope that you enjoy the rest of the story. Thank you for reading and for commenting. ~ Kim

Yay!!! Brian got his head out of his ass and now he can move on with his Sunshine. And I knew Claire's wasn't gay in the least lol...but she can still put all that PFLAG conversation to good use 😉

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara! Yes, I suspect Claire is going to need her new-found knowledge coming up (hint, hint).  I will have the last part of this up before the end of the day. Thank you as always for reading and for the feedback, my friend. ~Kim

That was fun - poor Claire - it was rather easy to shock her. At least checking out PFLAG she had the right intentions even if she was wrong about her son - so many parents don't even try. Kudos to those who love their children no matter their sexual orientation. Love Daphne - little pitbull terrior.  Now on to getting these boys together forever.......

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  Very thoughtful comments!  You're right.  We should love our family and friends regardless of who or what they are.  I think Justin did a good job of convincing Claire of that.;)  Now the boys just have to get on the same page.;)

I'll have the rest of this posted before the end of the day.  THANK YOU for being so supportive of this story!  Gets discouraging at times with lack of comments. :(  I appreciate each and every reader, however, but those who take that extra step to leave feedback are extra special.;) Thank you.  ~Kim

You always right the best story and this one is an original.  Love that Justin didn't leave and that Deb is all for the relationship.  This Claire is one I could tolerate and Brad is adorable even if he is straight.

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend (so wish I had a first name for you! But understand.;))  I am glad you are still enjoying the story. I will have the last part up later this afternoon.  Thank you for continuing to read and comment, and for your kind words. That means a lot to me.  ~Kim

P.S. Sorry - in a real melancholy mood tonight, I guess.

I take it Justin doesn't know that Brian had been knocking on his door for a week.  I'm so glad that Brian has admitted, at least to himself and maybe Mrs. Kinney, that he's in love with Justin.  That Brad is Daphne assistant was a surprise, also that they are taking the picture to Brian's apt. and don't know it, at least until Mrs. Kinney comes jumping on Justin and barking wanting to know where Reggie is.

Author's Response:

Thanks for continuing to read and review.  I think I've been deserted.;)

Anyway, I like to think Justin's lack of response is due to him probably being immersed in his favorite pain therapy - creating art - and is away most of the time, perhaps with Reggie there as well, painting away.  That, and he's just plain certain that Brian is not quite sincere after that last encounter, and has decided he doesn't want any part of him when he IS at home.

I'll probably have all of the remainder up today; will definitely post at least another chapter. Thanks again for all the support.  ~Kim

Lots of twists and turns happening. Can't wait until they all come to 'a head'. At least Brian is having time to come to grips with everything. He's got a lot to make up for. Perhaps he lunch with his nephew might open up lines of discussion which could be helpful???? Whichever way you go in the next chapter I'm looking forward to it.

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  Ha! I just answered another review before reading yours, and I used the same 'come to a head' phrase! How weird is that?  You are exactly right. Both men don't know what's about to happen.  You may be surprised by what happens coming up, though.;)

I will probably be able to post all of the remainder today; will depend upon how long it is, but I will defninitely get another part up sometime today. Thanks again for reading, and for all the comments. They have really waned in the last two chapters, so I greatly appreciate the support. ~Kim

I love me some Emmett!!  I vote for Honeycutt for President of the USA....I just think his personality could get some stuff done!!  I love to see him in fics....loved him on the show, especially how he loved his "baby" Justin!!!  This story just keeps getting better and better.

T

Author's Response:

Hi, Terri!  I love Emmett's character, too!  And yes, adored it when he called Justin "Baby!"  One of my favorite scenes on the show was at Babylon during the cancer arc when he asked Emmett if he thought Brian was losing interest in him because of his shorter hair, and he said, "Baby, I LOVE the hair!"  They were so cute together. And that other scene in Woody's when Emmett was nursing his sorrows, and B and J came up to him and they were guessing who was in rehab with Ted.  Loved Randy's hairstyle for the role during that time with the longer hair.

Thanks for continuing to read and review, Terri! I'm so happy that you're enjoying it. Next part's coming up today as soon as I can.  ~Kim

Now who doesn't love Emmett??? He certainly has given both Claire and Brian something to think about... just by being Emmett Nice scene outside the PFLAG meeting with Justin.

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yes, I love Emmett.  Peter Paige was so perfect for that character. And to think that he had initially auditioned for Ted!  Now the question is:  will Claire and Justin figure out who they have in common?  Hmm....that will be resolved before I'm done.

Thanks for continuing to read and comment, my friend. I greatly appreciate that. ~Kim

P.S.  How about that video of Randy in HIS new role?  OMG, can't wait to see him in that!  What an opportunity for him!

Excellent chapter. Love Emmett - as always..... Brian definitely has a lot to sort out in his mind but being a late bloomer, that's not unexpected. I just want to yell out to Justin - 'Hang in there, everything will turn out alright'. This is the first time I've actually liked Claire. Nice twist that Justin was the one she talked to......

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica! Yes, totally agree. I LOVE Emmett's character, and really enjoy placing him in a story when I can. When my friend asked me to adapt this film for B and J, I immediately thought of Emmett in the hairdresser role and modified it a bit to make him a friend of Justin's. How I wish they had shown more of their friendship on the show!  I can still remember that scene when Justin was asking Emmett if he thought Brian was losing interest in him because of his hair, and Emmett said, "Baby, I LOVE your hair!"  So cute!

I'm delighted you're enjoying the story!  I will have the next part up sometime today.  Thanks once more for reading, and for all the support, Monica. I greatly appreciate that.:)  ~Kim

Hi Kim  :  ) Ha- I think Brian swallowed his foot instead of just inserting it, hopefully he can get his mind, and his way of thinking, straightened out ( bad choice of words, I know) soon before Derrick starts thinking he has another chance with Justin. I really like this take on Clare; it’s different but refreshing at the same time, hopefully that made sense ;  ) *Hugs* Janet

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet!  Yeah, Brian didn't exactly impress Justin there, did he?  But he's slowly learning and disovering his way.  I'm glad you like the way that Claire is portrayed here, and I'm happy that you're enjoying the story. Thank you for the support, and the comments, my friend.  *Hugs* back ~Kim

Hi Kim : ) I finally, FINALLY got caught up on your story. I had to laugh at some of Debbie’s comments, she had some good ones. LOL, the funny thing about dogs is once you let them onto your bed, that’s it you’re stuck with them, but then again life would be pretty boring without them. I love the way you’ve written Brian in this, thinking he’s straight but still attracted to Justin and not knowing why. OMG, chapters 4 & 5 I thought I was going to have to go out and roll around in the snow just to cool off, Wow! So now I’m wondering how Brian is going to react to everything that’s happened, will he come back or run for the hills as fast as he can? (BTW, I’m trying VERY hard not to go read the rest of this elsewhere, but I sure am tempted, haha) *Hugs* Janet

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet! Thank you for all the comments, and for reading.;)  Yes, I'm not sure how some readers are taking Brian in this story. I'm glad you are okay with the portrayal. I know this is way different than the predatory type of Brian we are all used to, but I'm still hoping to show him as the otherwise self-assured person he normally is.  It's just that his attraction to Justin has thrown him for a loop, and he's not sure WHAT to think about that.

I'll try to get the next part up before I leave in about 90 min for work. You'll find that it won't be all roses for the boys, because someone's going to still have a hard time adjusting to his newly-discovered feelngs for a certain blond. But I hope you enjoy the rest!

I saw chapter 4 posted the other day and was just coming to read that when I saw Chpater 5! Bonus!

Things certainly have move quickly with these two! It's a bit weird to see Justin as the experienced teacher and Brian as the pupil, even with the same age difference as we're used to in the show.

Great update!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish! Thanks for continuing to read!  Yes, I can see your point about that.  Hopefully it's not TOO unbelievable.  Brian's not sexually inexperiened by any means, but I think he's kind of been so accustomed to thinking along the same traditional/hetero lines (with his sister's matchmaking help) into thinking that's the way he should be that until Justin came along he really didn't think much about it.  Hopefully I'm still managing to keep him pretty much IC despite that.

Cruel, cruel Predec2! That was mean leaving us on a cliffie! Especially with your categories.

Seriously, great handling of a delicate situation. Not canon of course, but very believable.

Now I have to go goggle Kinky Boots to see what it is.

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! Yes, I know (hiding under desk). But hopefully tomorrow's update will make up for it. (wink, wink).  I know it's a complicated balance, keeping Brian as much IC  here as I can, but with the plot there's got to be some growing/learning involved, as well as a journal of disovery, for our normally self-assured man.  I hope I can keep him believable for the remainder of the story.  I'm glad that you still enjoyed this chapter.

Thanks for reading, and for the comments.  I will have the next part up tomorrow.;)  ~Kim

P.S.  Kinky Boots is basically a play about accepting people for who they are; not what we want them to be. it's a musical with a lot of dancing and singing, and the guy who played Lola in this tour was powerful.  His solo literally brought tears to my eyes; it was so powerful.  Great play.

I love Justin in this story, and how considerate he is of Brian's on feelings. Can't wait to read the next chapter.

Olivia

Author's Response:

Hi, Olivia!  I'm so happy (and relieved in a way) that you liked this chapter.  I know Brian is normally such a dominant person - and in some ways he still he is here - but to keep him true to this story, he needs to be a bit more on the restrained side, so not sure how everyone will react to this.  Next chapter, too.  But it is a progression - and Brian is still learning here. He knows what he wants - and WHO he wants now - but he needs a little coaching by a certain blond first.;)

So glad you liked this update!  Will have the next part up tomorrow.  Things won't be all smooth sailing between them just yet (have to throw just a bit of angst in there to keep it interesting, but you know how I like to make them happy eventually).

Thank you for continuing to read and review! I appreciate that so much. ~Kim

'Met any interesting guys yet?'' Where do you you find them?'

For whom is Brian asking?

It's funny how a person can be oblivious to attraction of another when it's staring them in the face so to speak. All the signs are there.

How funny! 'Mrs Kinney'' to  annoy his well meaning sister. Well it certainly did.

Author's Response:

Hi, there! I'm delighted to see you reading this one.;) Poor Brian - experienced in the world of hetero sex, but he has no clue what he's doing, other than he knows he's attracted to a different sort of blond now.;)  But he's about to get a lesson (wink, wink).  I  hope you enjoy the rest of the story. Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment.~Kim

Thanks for the chapters.  I do need to be a little careful here

as I don’t want to get into trouble with MW and the readers.  I do

have a friend who has a French Bulldog with enormous ears.

Each time I meet my friend with his dog, I start out with the usual

comment, “that can’t be a dog.”  His reply is simply a bunch of

curse words.

I also have a friend who has a Pug.  Each time I go into his

apartment and see the dog sort of bent sideways sleeping and

sure enough snorting repeatedly, I always say “oink, oink.”   Of

course my friend’s reply is also mostly curse words.

Before I get into trouble with MW Admin and before Justin

pops out of my screen and recites a PSA about those two breads,

I do admit that my friends love their dogs and the reverse, the

dogs love their owners.  But I couldn’t help but laugh when Brian

called Justin’s dog a piglet.  That is exactly the way I see it.

Anyway, thanks for the story.  I do enjoy reading it.

DavidR

Author's Response:

Hi, David!  I'm always delighted to hear from you, and I had to smile at your comments.  I think French bulldogs are so cute, although I've never owned one of that breed. But I AM a huge dog lover.  Maybe that's why I like having them featured in a lot of my stories.  Low maintenance, and I don't have to walk them in RL - LOL!  Quite a coincidence that you have friends with both kinds of dogs.  Pugs have that really strong, curly-Q sort of tail that is so unique, and that snorting sound!  I grew up with a best friend across the street whose family would only have pugs. They're cute, but I'm sort of a lab or golden retriever sort of gal.;)

Thanks for reading so far, and for taking the time to comment! I truly appreciate that.;)  The next part's coming up this morning, and let's just say that things are about to heat up a bit.;)  I hope you continue to enjoy it!  ~Kim

Love this - Brian is like a flower - slowly opening up to face the sun - and sun in Justin. (Oh that was corny - even for me....LOL) It's nice to see Brian and Justin building a friendship first - it's a good base for a long lasting relationship - of course good old lust is the cherry on top.....

Author's Response:

Hi, Monica!  Ha - that's okay; I kind of liked the analogy!  You may find out the pace is definitely about to pick up here, so if it's not a long courtship/friendship, I still hope you like the direction it takes in the next chapter. It certainly won't be all smooth sailing for these two; that much I can reveal.;)  '

Thank you for continuing to read, and especially for taking the time to comment. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!  ~Kim

Happy to be able to read the next installment!

Kinda hard to imagine Brian as a shy, insecure 40 year old virgin! Hopefully Justin will remedy that soon!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish! Well, he would only be considered that when it comes to Justin; I'm sure he's had his share of hetero sex up until now, but this is definitely new territory for him.  And I'm not sure I see him as shy for the most part; hesitant and unsure about what he is feeling for Justin, but definitely able to speak his mind in other cases.  At any rate, I hope you enjoy the story. Thanks for reading and for the comments. ~Kim

"Just dinner"???  Something tells me there will be more than that.  Hope Mrs Kinney gets to go and spend time with Reggie.  Bill

Great beginning.  I don't usually like AU but this is a really interesting premise.  Can't wait to see where you go with it.  You are breaking records with your fast updates!!  Bill

Author's Response:

Hi, Bill!  Well, it's funny how everyone's interpretation of AU differs, but I'm assuming you mean b/c Brian is portrayed here as straight (or at least he's deluded into thinking that - ha!).  But I'm glad you're going to give it a try.  And while I wish I could be this speedy with ALL my stories (i.e., my two WIPs), it's only because I had it completely done before I started posting it. I'm going to try my best going forward after I finish my two WIPS to finish any new multi-chapter stories first, or at least have most of it done.  I just feel too bad when I can't update them regularly like you are so good at doing with your own story.;)  And, of course, out of courtesy to the other writers, I won't post more than one chapter a day of this story until it's completely finished.

Thanks for trying this one out! I hope you continue to enjoy it. And BTW, thanks, too, for your kind words about the site, and for the support. As Bob said, we are very lucky to have you as a writer on here. :)  ~Kim

I haven't even read the 3rd chapter yet, just wanted to drop by to say how hard it is to know you'll be updating daily and getting those updates in Finland in the evening! A part of me wants to save a few chapters but let's be honest, ain't gonna happen! Way too delicious!!! Come on, Brian, you won't be able to resist that bottom!

Author's Response:

Hi, there! You're so sweet to let me know how much you are enjoying this story! Thank you for the kind words, and for the support. It will be a relatively short story - at least from my normal ones - ha!  But I do hope you continue to enjoy it.

It's wonderful to see Daphne in this tale.  I have to agree that it seems odd that Brian at 40 would have no clue he might be gay.  Love the dogs, love the dinner.  Just have to wait and see where you go with this.

Author's Response:

I always loved the feistiness of Daphne's character, and how she stood up for Justin on the show.  She will be both a confidant as well as a solace to him coming up. Thank you once more for all the support, not only for me but for so many other writers on here.  I hope you continue to enjoy it.  I think you might see the next part taking a surprise turn.;)  ~Kim

I've never read a story like this one with Brian new to the gay life. Granted, Justin's cute enough to make most straight men think twice when he was younger. You have the start of a very good story here Kimberly.

I m not sure who I love the most .. Brian, Justin or Mrs Kinney. Daily updates put you in the running too :)

Author's Response:

Hi, Carol!  Thank you for reading, and especially for the feedback; that is deeply appreciated. I'm happy that you are enjoying this characterization.  It's hard for me to keep Brian IC in this situation, but hopefully I will keep him as close to the character we know as possible.  I think he can still have doubts about his sexuality and still maintain a lot of the same qualities we all recognize in him.  I'm glad, too, that I can post daily.  I feel terrible about not being able to do that with my two WIPs, but once they are done, I'm going to try hard NOT to post any multi-chaptered ones until they are at least done, or mainly done, so readers don't have to wait so long in between my updates. But I WILL get the other two finished; I am always dedicated to doing that, and have never left one unfinished yet.;)

Thanks again for reading! Part three is coming up shortly.;)  ~Kim

just a rereview from last one. The listeners really loved this from beginning to the last word. They liked the differenc Brian ans how he evolved to the Brian they know and love. Hope you are ok. You mentioned being on meds. You take care of yourself you hear. We all are worried and don't forget we love you as you are part of our family/ lol

Author's Response:

Hi, dear friend. ;)  You are very kind to leave feedback on here for this one. I'm glad the 'peeps' enjoyed it.:)  As for the meds, I'm basically healthy physically; mentally, well, I guess that's another issue that would take up much too much space here to fully explain, but I'm doing okay.  I can't tell you what it means, though, to know that you care and are concerned. I so wish one day that we could meet so I could tell you and the others how much your support and encouragement have meant to me.  Some days just hearing that from you and other faithful readers is the only thing that gets me through the stress and insanity of RL, so never think I do not appreciate it. I do beyond words.

I'm working on Lee's favorite right now, BTW, and hope to have that update posted soon. Tell everyone as always how appreciative I am of all of you, and that I send my love. I consider you all family, too. :)  ~Kim

I like this!!!  I also love that you are posting daily.  I am already looking forward to tomorrow.  This is fun.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Terri!  Yes, I know; very unusual for me (unfortunately) to be able to post daily.  But going forward - after my two WIPs are done, both of which are close to completion - I'm going to try to either have all the chapters written, or at least most of them so readers won't have to wait so long in between updates. I feel so bad about that.  I always finish every story I write, but with everything on here as an admin and RL, it's extremely difficult for me to update quickly. So I'm going to try and do better about that moving forward.  I'm glad that I can post this one daily, though, and I'm very happy that you're enjoying it.

I'll have the next part up shortly this morning. Thanks again for the support and especially for commenting!  ~Kim

I don't like how your story is making me act. I'm feeling ridiculously giddy and squealing like a school girl. This is why I don't read fanfiction at my internship and especially why I don't read it during lunch- (I share an office with my supervisor.) I'm just breaking all my rules today.

Because-

I squealed when Brian mentioned pflag. I squealed when Justin asked if Brian missed him- and then Brian said no (perfect). I squealed when Justin got all shy and asked Brian to dinner...the questions and looks my coworkers were giving me..... I can't handle this mushy stuff.

tomorrow....sigh... I'll be up and ready to read the next chapter (because I'm hooked)

Author's Response:

Hi, Olivia! You had me a little worried there with that first sentence - ha!  But I'm so happy that you're enjoying this story; that puts a smile on my face.;)  I had to laugh over your comment about your co-workers.  If you think this was bad, wait until what literally 'follows next' - LOL!

So thrilled that like this story! I will have the next part up shortly. Thanks for reading, and for the support; it's always extremely encouraging to me.  ~Kim

Mmh, a new story of yours! I would have read the first chapter any way, but than I found your anouncement that you will post a new chapter every day. Happy me - I'm not good in waiting for new chapters :-)

I like your Justin, and I like Claire and even the dogs. I like the light, a bit humoristic tone, the more feel-good than all-angsty start. Thank you for sharing!

Author's Response:

Hi, Steff!  I'm so happy you're going to be reading this one, and I'm glad that you are enjoying the characterizations in this story.  I know how you feel, too, about WIPs.  I'm guilty of that myself, with two presently, but except for one-shots here and there, I'm going to try and make my own, personal New Year's resolution not to post multi-chaptered stories until they are either all complete or near to complete. I don't like the guilt I feel when I can't update as quickly as I would like, and I'm sure it can get frustrating to readers when there's a while in between updates.  But I always finish my stories, and those will be no exception.

I hope you continue to enjoy the rest!  I'll have the next part up in just a little while. Thanks for reading, and especially for commenting! I greatly appreciate that. ~Kim

It's interest to find that , I assume, Brian's nephew is gay. And that Brian missed Justin when he didn't show.  Plus we learn that Emmett cuts hair.  Not to mention that Brian isn't ready to admit he's gay too.

Author's Response:

Hi, there! As always, I'm grateful to you for reading and especially for commenting. :)

I can already tell that I'm going to fall madly in love with this story. It is amazing! I love this portrayal of Claire and I love semi straight Brian and confident gay Justin!! Yes!?'!!! I can't wait for what you concoct for the next chapter

Author's Response:

Hi, Olivia!  First of all, thank you for being one of our writers on the site. We love having new authors on here, and I'm glad you are continuing to post stories.  I have so little spare time right now, it's hard for me to play catch up with my own reading, but hopefully I can do that soon.;P)

Thank you for reading this one, and for the feedback!  And yes, while Justin is going to have some moments of angst coming up, he's going to be in the 'driver's seat' off and on here (wink, wink) until a certain hesitant older man figures it all out.;)  I do hope you enjoy the rest of the story!  Part Two is coming up shortly.:)  Thanks again.  ~Kim

and Mrs Kinney - what a hoot!

so much fun - thanks for that

Hi, my friend!  Always delighted to see you reading a story of mine.:)  I'm so glad this one gave you a smile.  Yes, it's definitely a departure from Brian's norm; hopefully, though, I'm still going to keep him IC as much as possible.
