Justin always knew how to put things in perspective to Brian.   He knew that Brian would blame himself for what happened to Justin and and then try and push him away for his own good.   But luckily, Justin was able to convince Brian otherwise.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for such thoughtful comments, Cullengirl.  One of the things I loved about Justin was his ability to see the best in Brian, even more so than his long-time friends.  I love to write about that part of their relationship.  I'm very glad you enjoyed this story.  Huge hugs, Grammy

So sad - haunted is the word that comes to mind. Great insight into the character's psyche. TAG

Author's Response:

This was one of the first times I wrote something more serious.  I wasn't sure I could do it justice, since I'm more into light-hearted romance, but I had to explore the part of Brian that was so damaged by his cruel family.  Thank you so much for these wonderful comments on this story, Tag.  I really appreciate it.  Huge hugs, Grammy

OMG I can see that being a major wall builder for Brian to hide behind. His inner most fear is that he would become Jack and for a moment in time Brian the boy took back some control and unfortunatly Justin happened to be in the line of fire.

The boys love for each other is so strong that Brian would give up his life in New York even though he has invested time and money being there to protect Justin from what he believes as the ressurrection of Jack.

Justin just as easily just willingly drops everything and in hot persuit high tails after Brian.

Lovely fic thanks again Grammy

Author's Response:

One of the things I noticed about Brian from the show was that he seemed to avoid physical violence.  That time he hit Michael, you could clearly see the shock on his face after he had done it and it was obvious he regretted it, even though Mikey really did deserve it for what he said.  The only time he got physical and didn't feel any guilt was when he struck Hobbs in the leg, and even then he didn't go for the man's head like a truly violent person would....nor did he hit him more than once, which no one could have faulted him for.  I always felt it was because he feared that he would be too much like his father if he got physical.  I think Brian was beaten a lot as a kid when the old man got drunk.  I wanted to show that side of Brian, and then show how much Justin cared about Brian's well-being (as if there was ever any doubt).  I'm so happy you enjoyed this story, Chris, and thank you very much for all your terrific comments.  Warmest hugs, Grammy

i don't remember this being finished before and maybe i jsut missed it with all the problems that were going on. anyway i loved the way you ended it. always loved justin explain to brian just what type of man he is and that he is worthy of being loved. sometimes brian can be so dense.

Author's Response: Actually I posted this quite a long time ago on MW, but I'm glad you found it if you enjoyed it Sherrie.  I had a very bad dream, something rare for me, and it inspired this story.  Brian would feel very guilty if he hurt Justin in any way, of course, but Justin would never let him suffer for something that was beyond his comtrol.  Justin sees the heart of Brian and is there to remind him what a good man he is.  Thanks for commenting.  I truly appreciate it.  Grammy
