Unfortunately, I had to stop about half way, because the narrative was growing confusing. It started off decently, with Justin's views, but you kept switching to Brian and by the end, I didn't know who was speaking or understand the point of the opening scene. I would have preferred some stronger descriptive techniques during the romantic scenes, too. I would suggest you take more care with the consistency of your narrative.

Sorry you find the narrative challenging. The point of the opening scene was providing Brian with a reason to celebrate Christmas. If it weren't for Gus, he would have nothing to do with the holiday.

All my stories are written in the third person - perhaps favoring one of the main characters or the other. All internal dialogs/POV are in italics.

Speaking dialog is in quotes, and person is identified by name or reference - the younger man, the hazel eyed man, etc.

I take a significant amount of time to insure the pronouns are not confusing and my beta is generally good at catching such things.

I hope this helps if you read any other works by me.
