This is a story that needed to be finished, I'm sorry it wasn't. I know life takes a lot of twists & turns, especially with two small children. Liked how even the under stress B&J were still in character. In my mind I know Brian will be as good as new and Ms Lindsey will get what she deserves, a long stay in a mental hospital!! Candy

I enjoyed the chapter, but I can't believe Michael would be there and not say a word. Of all of them, he'd be the most likely to side with Lindsay since he, too, was in love with Brian. His name was mentioned, as were Ben's and Hunter's, but that was it. Did he suddenly mature overnight?
I do like Debbie's role here, wanting the best for Brian, and acting like a mother.

There was always a part of Lindsay that craved that white picket fence and family with Brian, especially since that would have earned her parents' approval. She was good to Justin on one hand but undermined his relationship with Brian on the other. She and Mikey were alike that way; neither wanted Justin to supplant them in Brian's affections.

I don't think I've seen Daphne compared to Brian before (that's pretty much always been Mel, at least in stories that portray Mel positively). I do think the comparison makes sense in that they're both protective of Justin, even if they express it differently.

At least in this AU, Brian seems to have a clearer picture of his so-called friends, particularly Mikey and Lindsay. He's also accepted Justin as a true friend; of course, in this story he's gotten to known Justin away from his persona as the stud of Liberty Avenue.

Personally, I think that Brian's friends would be more supportive of him. I find that their occassion cruelty is a reaction to Brian's nature, but even Mel doesn't hate him that much all of the time. But that's just me. Lovely interaction between Brian and Gus; he would only admit his love to his son where no one can hear. Very nice.

Aw, that is very sweet. Brian finally yielding and even though it is a complete stranger, this makes sense as he wouldn't trust any of his friends in this situation. Nice use of canon with the chicken soup. The only issue I am having is the constant switch between POV's within the same chapter which is slightly confusing. Other than that, entertaining chapter.

Nice, but you switched POV's without specifying when that happened. I take it "A few minutes later" was meant to signify Justin's POV? I like the ending, having Justin watch over him secretly to make sure he was alright, and Brian's anger was very much in character.

Wow, for a first fic this is a very engaging chapter! I am impressed. I have to say I usually prefer stuff that is written in canon but the summary to this makes sense and I think your writing is very easy to follow. I found it interesting that the writers didn't make reference to Jack dying of cancer when Brian went through his little episode. I am very glad you did here. And that last paragraph about "Saint Joan" was heartbreaking. I love the Brian's cancer episodes and want to write a one-shot about this myself, so this makes for inspiration.

Author's Response: Thanks xx Everything's fine - just not really any joint sleep pattern now, so I can manage 1/2 hour at lunchtime and then at 9 my eldest goes to bed and I follow at 10 p.m.! I am too tired to write simply. They are up before 6!!!! And with the time change now in Europe (5.15 a.m.!!) and still going to bed late!!!! how does that make sense??? I just tell myself "they will get older!" haha!

So glad that at last Our brave brunet is going home and on a good road to recovery. I hope Lindsay catches a bad incurable rash on some part of her body then pases it on to Mikey (not really lol) but the lovesick duo needs to take a step back and face the reality that Brian will never want either of them.

Thanks for thinking of my little ones. They are FINE now. Fighting fit!!! Thank goodness. It was really hard though. I don't think I saw the outside world for about 31/2 weeks!!! (I was ill as well for 6 days as well after the children...with a high temperature etc. as well)
I know you always worry about your kids I think, no matter how old. My mum (nearly 80) still checks if I'm wearing gloves and a hat in the winter LOL!!!!

I have to confess that I haven't even started writing the next chapter as I am still recovering from my children being ill. It has really taken it out of me :-( and they are still up in the nights etc. not settling... you can tell it was a big thing for them both!! So it might be a little while till I start writing again. I just haven't got the head for it at the moment. I don't want the quality of the story to suffer and to churn out any old thing... So sorry!!!! (next update will probably be after Easter I guess)

I'm totally still enjoying this story. The only problem that irks me it's the nursing staff. It's everyone so rude to homosexuals? They all should be fired.
Author's Response: So glad you're still on board with the story :-) There's a nice nurse in the next chapter. So, they're not ALL bad!! But the story about being moved by the cleaning staff happened to ME just 11/2 hours after giving birth when I was really not in any fit state to move AT ALL!!!!!!! But they didn't walk me to a chair, but to the shower!!!!
I do agree though, such nurses should be fired with attitudes like that!!!

Author's Response: Hi Galesgal, WOW!!! Yes, you're right I was away for a long weekend and couldn't believe my eyes when I came back to see all the comments!! I must warn you Lindsay is NOT nice in this story - if you read my previous comments, you'll see that it wasn't even meant to be that way, it just evolved! But most of the others will redeem / have redeemed themselves. Not sure what I'm going to do with Mikey yet though. Haven't got that far. WOW!! I can't believe that you're reading this all in one go. Amazing. I have to mention that due to the crash a few weeks ago, one or two chapters at the end are missing and I did send out a plea to ask if anyone had downloaded the chapters, because even though I have them on my computer, they are not the very finished versions, as I tended to reread and alter within the MW template before publishing the chapter... so I will upload them, but they are not exactly as I wanted them...

hmm i don't know what to feel after this chapter. First off i hope to god that you know that these comments are meant to be compliments because i do absolutely love this story. i love how justin and brian are falling in love. it's just parts of it are absolutely making me hate the people that on the show i normally love. then again that's the whole point of fanfic right the writer can take it and twist it anyway that they like which is awesome but damn.

To be honest. I watched the DVD box set of QAF 1-5 in one go and would tend to fast forward anything that wasn't relevant to B/J the first time round, which meant that I sometimes missed things, and, although it's strange, I felt 2 women kissing was weird so I skipped them, however watching 2 men as hot as Brian and Justin, well they got my thumbs up! I just read the first 32 chapters at one sitting and am eager for more. I loved Justin's stubborness and him taking such good care of Brian. What really pisses me off is wittle mikey is no ones friend but his own, Mel is a bitch who deserves lousey karma, Debbie is a bully and the worst mother I can think of, but Lindsey takes the cake. She's a self serving, self centered whore who doesn't care about anyone including sweet little Gus.Gus is so sweet he loves his daddy more than ice cream, and wanted to help his daddy find his marbles (loved that) but he is so smart he knows when people lie about daddy not loving him---he's so secure that daddy loves him he may cry from the awful people saying that but deep down he knows better. Any chance of Lindsey having her jaw wired so she can't spew such vile statements, I wouldn't hate it if mikey got hit by a bus or astroid-your choice.

Protective Justin is always hot especially when he bares his claws ;) but now that Brian has made his intentions known, where does this leave him in regards to Gus? I hope that Lindsay isn't so much of bitch that she would keep Gus away from Brian.
Author's Response: Well, Brian won't be doing anything for a long while regarding Gus, because he won't be able to... Lindsay is, as I said below, a woman scorned now, so she has to retaliate somehow...

Wow! I was so glad that Justin came in and let Lindsay have it. She's obviously gone over the edge. What do you have planned next? Will Brian be okay after the surgury? Will Gus survive his mother's tantrum? I can't wait for your next post!!!!
Author's Response: Wow! That was quick!! You'll have to wait and see about Brian - well IN THE END everything will be ok with him, obviously... but such major surgery is not without complications sometimes... And, as for Gus, thank goodness he was in the kitchen happily munching on his snack, so I hope he didn't hear Lindsay breaking down!!! (no, he just told me, he didn't hear anything - haha!!)

Author's Response: Well, whatever happens Brian is going under in about 10 minutes, so he won't have much time to deal with it before the operation, but he'll do his best haha! I think there will be repercussions afterwards...
