This was a great little story!!   I loved Jennifer telling Joan how it is as well as the kind of man Brian really is, not to mention that she thinks of him as another son.  I think Joan is so set in her ways that she just can't see anything else, even if its staring her right in the face.

Wow; Jennifer is quite as much vindictive as Justin is when it comes to fight for Brian.

Too bad that Saint Joan was not knocked down too much; she so deserved it.

I like that you find some new short stories to add to the master piece that QaF is.

Author's Response:

Thank you very much my dear!

I really like the character Jennifer. I believe it is one of the real characters of QAF. She completely changed her life for the sake of his son. Initially, a simple housewife, prey to suburban standards and end a successful professional, militant in PFLAG, integrated into a completely different world than she knew and finally dating a very hot guy and younger than her boyfriend your son's. How not to admire someone like that?

The similarity with Justin, Jennifer learned to love Brian and she would never let anyone hurt one of his boys.

Santa Joana has a lot to learn from Jennifer Taylor. Unfortunately, his blindness does not allow her to see what you're missing.

Thank you very much for following my stories.

A big hug!

I am really enjoying your stories. Great to have other characters explored more. Thank you.

Author's Response:

Thank you for leaving your comments.

I love to see the other characters in the stories and I have a great admiration for Jennifer Taylor.

I wanted to show the differences between Jennifer and Joan and show the relationship of admiration and respect between her and Brian.

Thank you for the attention you are giving to my stories.

Fatima.

Hi Fatima!

I really enjoyed this! I wish it happened in the show lol

I'm off to read your others stories now

:)

*Hugs*

~alois~

Author's Response:

Thank you, dear!

I would love to see Jennifer alongside Brian to face Joan, too.

I really like Jennifer. I think she was the character that suffered more changes throughout the show. The evolution of the character was amazing!

She ceased to be the perfect suburban wife and mother of the family, completely accepted his gay son, was integrated within its means in the "family Avenue Liberty", became a successful professional, got a gorgeous  boyfriend and younger of the boyfriend of your son and finally she accepted and came to love Brian  when had numerous reasons for not doing so. Wow!

She was the perfect antagonist of Joan.

Thanks for commenting.

A big hug from Brazil!

I really like this story!! :) I hope you'll consider writing a sequel where Justin comes back and they get married.... :D please? Anyway, great job! Hope to read you soon! Kisses!

Author's Response:

Hola, Mafita!

Besos!
Fatima.

Endearing. Debbie had always mothered Brian, but it was nice to see Jennifer filling that role, especially, after such a shaky start.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the comment.

I'm very glad you enjoyed.

Jennifer realized how Brian loves Justin and so he entered his heart.

Sorry mistakes. I do not speak English

Jennifer is tough and you don't want to mess with her.  The heck with Joan.

She is the mother of Justin and I get to see her as a character more evolved throughout the series.I wanted Joan began to wonder and ideal person to bring it to this, in my opinion, could only be Jennifer. Thanks for the comment.

I was so excited to see this English version of one of your stories! I've seen your postings here and on other sites, but I haven't been able to enjoy them since I cant read Portugese. I can puzzle out the titles and most of the summaries but would never dare try to read a whole story, enen though they all sound intriguing. Thanks for this touching story - I love the interaction between Brian and Jennifer. I hope to see more translations of your works. TAG

such a sweet tender story - yet so filled with emotion that the reader can actually feel  - great job - and kudos on such a smooth read when English is not your first language

would love to be able to peak in for more - more of Brain and Jennifer, of course Brian and Justin's reunion - and believe it or not - could even tolerate seeing Brian and his mother come to sme sort of truce - or at least a softening of the tension between them

thanks for for this story

Charle

Author's Response:

Hello, Charle!I appreciate your kind words. Each comment is a great encouragement to continue writing.I've been getting a very special help in the translation of my stories.I have a few fics in Portuguese and am awaiting the translation of them into English.I'm looking at the possibility of making a sequel to this story and of course, the presence of Justin in a beautiful reunion with Brian.Love Jennifer and she is present in some of my stories.I do not have many expectations about Joan. But people can change when they really want, right?A big hug

Very nice story.  I, too, would like to see the story expanded.  I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff.  Whomever helped you with your translation did a great job.  Usually when I read a story on my computer, I made some spelling/punctuation changes as needed, but I didn't have to.  Great story and I look forward to reading more of your writings.

I love when Jennifer stands up and defends him. Brian's lucky to have a mother-in-law like her. Jennifer's grown to love him unconditionally.
Sweet story.

Thanks for reading and commenting.I also love the loving relationship between Brian and Jennifer.A big hug!

If there were any mistakes, I didn't notice them, due to this being a very great story! :) I loved Mother Taylor defending Brian to St. Joan. And I even loved how you made St. Joan pause and think even if she is too set in her ways to change her habits in a snap. :) Great Job! Awesome Story!

Can't wait to read what else you've written! Maybe you could expand this from a one-shot, to a multi-chaptered fic, with Justin coming back and maybe some type of reconcilliation between Brian and his blood family. Who knows? :) Happy Writing!

-Alyse

Author's Response:

Thanks, Alyse!Translation made r03;r03;by a very special person, is perfect! I can only thank for that.As for the story, I got this idea for a long time and would like Joan learned as a mother should be and always believed that the ideal person to teach it to her could only be Jennifer.I have other stories posted, but are in Portuguese (I'm Brazilian), but hopefully they will be translated into English soon.To expand the story I really need to take time, something that unfortunately u do not have, and I'm also writing a fic in chapters nese moment my priority is, however, a sequel or fic in chapters from this fic is not ruled for the future.Thank you comment and link reading.A big hug!

Thanks for writing that scene.  Sadly, I don’t hold any hope

for Joan.  Her feelings are too deep and have been held too

long.  It is easy to try to excuse her, but my answer is always,

“she is Brian’s mother.”  To me the title of mother hold special

obligation to the child and she fails.  That is just the way I see

it.

I too like the character of Jennifer.  In the show (QAF), Brian

often called her “Mother Taylor.”  I see that as a cutsie remark,

rather than anything of much substance. At best, I see her as

Brian’s mother in law, and she will do her best to help them.

Sure, I see Jen and Brian having a warm relationship, but she is

Justin’s mother, not Brian’s, and never can be.

Anyway, thank you again for writing this story; I did enjoy

reading it.

DavidR

PS:  I know replying is going to require someone to translate.

It isn’t necessary for you to reply   I just wanted to say hello.

Author's Response:

Hello,DavidR!
I appreciate your comment and I'm so glad you liked my story.
I do not condone Joan. I just think it is not a totally bad.
I see her as someone very unhappy and do not know how to love, so it clings to religion as a lifeline and consequently forget what really matters.
I wanted her to take a reality check. And for me the ideal person to do it just might be the Jennifer.
I really like Jen and how it has evolved over the series. Of course she is not a surrogate for Brian, this role falls to Debbie. But she developed a beautiful relationship with him based on what Brian is for Justin. I believe that over time this relationship will only grow and evolve.
I use Google to do my translations. I know we are not perfect, so I ask your understanding.
Thanks for the comment, for reading and for your attention.
A big hello from Brazil!Google

Tanks, LoveTheCoast!
I had a great help to translate the story as the original in Portuguese (I'm Brazilian).
I also love Jennifer and her relationship with Justin. To me, it's one of the charactersthat evolved during more show.Amo more like her relationship with Brian changedduring the series.
As for Joan, also do not think this is a really bad person. She is an unhappy woman, who had an abusive husband and was never really loved (in a moment of the show, she tells Brian that sometimes, had been beaten by Jack to defend him).
I think that prejudice is the result of his religious fanaticism.
I wanted Joan began to wonder about their beliefs and attitudes, and for me, the right person to address it might just be Jen.
Thank you for having read and commented.
Hugs!

(I had to rewrite the response to review, because there wre errors in the translation).

I never would have guessed English was not your native language. This was very well done and I don't think I really noticed any mistakes!

As for the scene - I love Jennifer and Brian interactions and so I found this very sweet, and very appropriate. Jennifer Taylor was a great character on the show and I like how you presented her here.

I also like to think eventually Joan would overcome her prejudices and accept her son - but I fear she's been too long the way she is that change might be too difficult for her. But I am glad you had her question her beliefs for a moment. I don't think Joan is inherently evil - just misdirected and in need of some education, which Jennifer gave her a taste of here!

I enjoyed this greatly! Thank you for sharing it :)
