This was excellent. I have come to realize through discussions and reading more fanfiction that the reasoning behind this reunion is, as you say, unclear. I am more used to writing in Canon, so I jsut took the writer's word for it. I did, however, think that Brian was too quick to take Justin back in that office scene, hot though it was. I think that Justin probably realized Brian was the lesser of two evils, even with all his noticeable faults, but one of the best things about this story was it's poignant realism- even in using day to day occurrences, like Daphne asking him to pay rent, and him having to tell his friends that he broke up with Ethan. Quite a lot of important facts were missed out, which you filled in. I wish we had seen Mrs Taylor's reaction both to the break up, and to the fact that he reconciled with Brian, but that was missed out, which doesn't make sense, seeing as she liked Ethan very much to start off with. I am a huge fan of this period in QAF, and am actually in the process of writing about this period between 3x07 and 3x08, so it is very inteeresting to me, seeing your take on the whole idea. An excellent story in a very imaginative format. Great work.

Cute!  Looks into his mind and explores the contents. Love Justin.

Yes, I could see this train of thought going through Justin's mind and leading to Justin going back to Brian; seems in character too.

Damn you. I was just going to read this, then go to bed. I now have to (well, really really want to) watch the reunion scenes. And once I watch those, I'm going to want to watch more of my favourite scenes, but I can't seeing as I need to go to bed. (No, Nikki, you don't need to watch the 2nd proposal scene for the gazillionth time now. It can wait until tomorrow.) Again, damn you for writing so well and for including one of my favourite quotes.

Author's Response:

Ah! I'm sorry!! 3.08 is my very favorite B/J episode of QAF, so I understand your urge to watch it, or at least the scenes at the end...no matter how or why, my favorite moments are when those two come back together after being apart.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one! Even if it did make you want to watch certain scenes from the show.... :)

I totally agree with you that it isn't clear why Justin wanted Brian back even though he knew nothing would be different - and the break-up with Ethan was so sudden.  Like you say in the story, maybe Justin subconsciously wanted to leave anyway and Ethan cheating was a perfect excuse to go.

I guess a lot of it must have to do with Brian's magnetism - I loved the bit about Justin watching Brian from across the street.  I could see it perfectly in my head and knew how Justin felt.

I'm really glad you wrote this, and I like the journal style.  I've been telling myself I'm going to write a fic about this time-period some day, but honestly I'd rather read other people's take on it.  Thanks for sharing this :)

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading and commenting! I agree with you about Brian's magentism and overall allure - he's too much to resist and I don't think Justin ever stopped loving or wanting him, he just suppressed the emotions because Ethan gave him what he thought he was desiring. I also think Justin grew up a lot between when he left Brian and when he went to Vanguard to win him back. Season 2 Justin was a little brat (IMO), while season 3 Justin had a new kind of maturity about him - a maturity  that allowed him to realize he could accept Brian's extracurricular activities. I still don't feel like I've uncovered anything new, but it's fun to imagine what happened in that month's time! There aren't, at least that I've found, many fics that cover this timeframe in a realistic way...anyway...I've prattled on enough. :)
