Fantastic! It was so heart-wrenching I find myself reading it aloud. The pain is so palpable. I try to look at this through Justin's position, how much more strength does he need to get from his reserve? Was the intervention a failure? Only because Brian made it so. If only for the admission of Joan, I think it's a success in its own way and I hope Brian pause and realize how much he meant to his mother. In fact to others.  I wonder if there will be future Joan chapters?

Author's Response:

I've always been curious about Joan. This was my way of explaining a lot of her behavior.  She couldnt' have had an easy life.   She makes another appearance in upcoming chapters.

Thanks for commenting!

Wow!!! lots of information I need to absorb

Emmett and Brian? Figures. Brian has slept with pratically all gay pittsburgh!!!! Michael is such a coward (lol). That's probably why I never liked him as a character. What kind of best friend doesn't call you on your s***?

I love Rena, she is so straightforward. Joan's behaviour makes more sense. The way she speaks about Justin is hilarious "That boy is brazen and rude". Great chapter!!!!!

Author's Response:

Thanks! Glad you liked it.  I find Joan sympathetic. At least in my AU  :-)

Well.....that didn't go the way Sunshine planned, but are we surprised? Joan's reaction to Brian being gay makes sense now ( I'm not excusing her actions mind you) knowing her brother got bashed for being gay coupled with Jack's violent streak was enough for her to fear for his life.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS JUSTIN THINKING!!!! Going to Mr. Goodbars was not going to help him to get Brian to face his demons.

Off to read the next chapter ;)

Author's Response:

I always tried to find 'reasons' for certain characters behavior, and I thought that Joan had to have had some bad history to be the cold, unfeeling mother she was.

Glad you find it believable!  Thanks.
