I can understand why Justin would be a little upset about Brian showing up late and drunk, but to have such little faith in him after he's clearly shown him that he is ready for a commitment on some level....not a wise decision.

Do Rena and John have some kind of past? Or does he feel like his wife has just walked back into his life?

Justin was always impulsive...  All this is new to both of them, it's almost 'too' good to be true.  Brian always expects something to go wrong, (doen't trust his good luck) and Justin has a lot of history with Brian falling back on old bad habits.   

John has not felt anything for anyone since his wife died... Rena struck something in him he thought dead for a long time.
