RL has gotten in the way more than I care to admit and has left me very little time to write, but I am finally getting to a point where I can focus and possibly get a few chapters done. I've been to ALANON, but unfortunately, had to wait until I left home. The one thing I think that I personally learned was that they were trying to do was teach the family member that they need to take care of themself first, and not put the alcoholic first. So many people are taking care of the alcoholic and placing them first. The tools they taught were to deal with the alcoholic, and understand, and help, if possible.
All of the meetings were so draining and at times, very eractic since many leaders weren't professional counselors. This is a very power subject matter, good for you for taking this on.

Author's Response: My experience with ALTEEN was a very emotional one and just as you have described. It was very difficult for me to deal with at the time,and this is what Justin is going through feeling overwhelmed and over burdened at such a young age.

(the car is an actual attraction in my hometown of Decatur IL) You have my permission to give Jennifer the ass whoopin she deserves for choosing a loveless marriage over her only son. First I agree with you about the Tomato burger...it's not my cup of tea either seeing as I'm a vegetarian, but it was my grandmother's favorite (may she rest in peace) and that was my way of paying homage to her. Brian was probably feeling a little overwhelmed by Justin and Grandma Annie's blatant display of sentimentality, and rather than allowing himself to relish in it he chose to run from it instead. But not to worry, Grandma Annie is far from finished with our temperamental Brunet ;)

Author's Response: Thank you Flossee. I felt that Jennifer needed to felt with a little more directly seeing as Justin has been avoiding her for so long. She needed to hear some harsh truths and both Grandma and Justin were happy to oblige.
On the upside, Justin and Brian did get to spend a little quality time together. Witnessing what had taken place between Justin and Jennifer, Brian knew that he would have to temporarily shift his priorities and give Justin what he needed in that moment.
Thank you for the well wishes as well. I have so many wonderful memories of my Grandma and cherished each moment every minute spent with her. I think you did a great job of describing Justin's turmoil and sadness over being rejected by his mother in father of Craig, and I was glad to see his grandmother standing up for him. The part with the boys was both hot and sweet; I respect Brian being willing to wait until Justin was ready, and in a way I was glad that they didn't go all the way just yet - that will just make the actual event even more wonderful.:)

Author's Response: Hello Kim my sweet! Bittersweet is a perfect description of how it felt to post this chapter. No matter what Grandma Annie will always have Justin's back because she feels that Justin has had enough disappointments in his young life.

I’m not sure why Grandma thought taking Justin to see his father was a good idea but I like the way it is now going to give Justin a little more insight into Brian. I can’t wait to see if Justin is able to do anything for Brian in this predicament or is this an opportunity for Brian and Craig to meet in Macon County Jail? I'm looking forward to the next update.

You'll notice as the story progresses that Grandma takes a lot of her ques from Justin's state appointed 'guardians' when it comes to his emotional healing. Speaking from experience, this is often the case and usually ends up in disaster. While the intentions were good in nature, no one stopped to ask Justin if he felt the need for closure where Craig was concerned.
As for Brian, he going to find himself having to eat a lot of crow ;)

I can totally see this happening. Brian opens up to a complete stranger then he pulls away. Hopefully he will start to wonder why Justin was so easy to talk to. Kudos to Justin for pushing him to talk. I’m pleased you didn’t make them best friends after just one encounter. Please hurry back as soon as RL allows.

Author's Response: Avoidance was always Brian's defense mechanism of choice when felt anyone was getting too close. Justin was determined to make Brian start to face some of his demons.

Author's Response: Justin felt that by Blake not going after Brian, he was essentially turning his back on him. Knowing what that feels like from firsthand experience, he just couldn't sit back and let that happen.

I must have missed that Brian would be younger in this story. And going back to the previous chapter, I was curious as to why Justin knew he would prefer being a bottom?
Author's Response: No you didn't miss it, I inadvertently forgot to mention it, but I'm glad you brought that to my attention.
He doesn't, he's just overcome by infatuation right now. He'll start to discover more about his sexual self as the story progresses ;)

Well that certainly was a different way for them to meet. I love that you gave Cynthia a surname then Blake makes an appearance. Is Brian there because of his childhood? I can’t wait to hear his story. I hope all is well with your family now.

Author's Response: Yes this was an unusual but interesting way for our boys to meet. I always felt that Cynthia was a little too much like Cher (only having one name) and Spannus was the last name of my real youth advocate. I loved her dearly and since I love Cynthia just as much I felt it was perfect.
Brian is there due to his childhood circumstances but this time he won't be able to hide.....for long ;)

I love the start. It’s so refreshing to have something different; Craig selling drugs is certainly different and because you didn’t kill him off he can now cause trouble in the future. Nice. Thank God for grandmothers so many do a wonderful job raising their grandchildren. Please hurry back with more chapters so we find out how Brian and Justin meet. I just realised you have more fics and I haven’t read them. Well I better rectify that.

I'm curious to know how his mother is involved (she must be if justin lives with his grandmother), and to know why your story happens in 1992-93, it doesn't really matter but maybe there is a particular reason.. Is Brian still older? Looking forward to reading more.

You're absolutely right there is a reason for the time period. This is the time in my life when these events began to take place. Brian is still older but not by so many years and Jennifer's involvement in Craig's affairs comes out of circumstance.
