Sorry I couldn't read your wonderful chapter sooner! RL has been crazy for the past month, and not in a good way, but everything is okay now. This is brilliant!!! I love the conversation between Blake and Brian so much. You are incridebily talented to describe emotions. Never doubt your talent Sarah😊😊

Author's Response:

Aw,  Alois - no worries at all!  I hope real life wasn't too crazy or intense, but I'm glad everything is okay now :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.  I'm so happy that you liked the conversation between Blake and Brian   Your kind words never fail to make my day :)

Loved, loved, loved this chapter.  Great interactions between Blake and Brian.  It was really well done.  I was happy to see the update and the chapter wasn't long enough!  I can't get enough of your story.  I really enjoy this look at the life of Ted and Blake.  Look forward to more soon.  Thanks for this story,  Bill

Author's Response:

Yay!  Thank you so much, Bill :)  I'm delighted that you liked the Blake and Brian interaction and that you felt it was well done.  I always wished these two had a scene together on the show, so I just had to write a bit of interaction between them.

I'm so happy you're still enjoying the story.  Sorry this chapter wasn't a little longer :P

Thank you again for your continued support :)

This was such a nice look at Blake and Brian interaction.  As you made clear Brian isn't all bad.  And he got along with Blake.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, YumYum!  I'm so glad you enjoyed the interaction between these two.  Brian definitely isn't all bad :)

How nice to see that Ted managed, reluctantly, to get Blake's mind off his dad.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you're glad that Ted was able to intervene :)  Thank you, as always for your comments, YumYum!

Nice little chapter,  I am counting on you not to make this too angsty, don't want to see any break ups!  Still loving your ted/Blake realtionship.  Bill

Author's Response:

Break-ups - never!  Angst - probably. :P  But don't worry, if I hurt characters, I always do my best to repair them :)

Thank you, Bill!  You're always so quick to review my chapeters.  It is greatly appreciated, as always :)

That was lovely, Sarah. I love the way you write Ted. It feels real, you know? And you reviewing my stories is definitely NOT the reason why I read yours. I'm just in love with your writing style ;) Take care 😊

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Alois :)  It's always such a joy to read your comments.  I'm so glad/relieved to hear that you're so fond of my characterization of Ted.  It helps give me a bit of confidence for future chapters :P

As always, you have been far too kind to me.  Thank you again for your lovely and encouraging words, my friend :)  *hugs from Canada*

Good to get an update.

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you for letting me know  :)

There will be more to come!

I'm sure that if Ted started naming and describing the rest of the family he'd have a great deal to say.  He might have to reword his description of Brian though.

Lovely chapter, you actually feel the awkwardness.

Author's Response:

Hi YumYum,

Your comments have me thinking that it would interesting to hear Ted's take on his entire family of friends.  *ponders*

Haha! I'm glad you could feel the awkwardness.  I have a lot of personal experience with the subject :P

Thank you for continuing to take the time to read and review this story.  I always look forward to your delightful comments :)

Very happy to see a new chapter.  I love your story, can't wait for more.  I really like your take on Ted - very sweet and very awkward.  Your story inspired me to add a Ted & Blake thread to my story.  Bill

Author's Response:

Hi Bill :)

I'm so happy you're happy to see a new chapter.  It's lovely to hear that you like my take on Ted - if there's one character I identify with, it's him.

My story inspired you to add a Ted and Blake thread to your story?  My jaw nearly fell on the floor when I read that.  I won't lie to you, I may have done an awkward little happy dance in my chair.

I will definitely have to catch up on my reading of your story, which I planned to do anyway, but now you have enticed me even further with the prospect of reading your take on my favourite couple from the show :P

Thank you, as always, for your kind words, Bill :)  They are very much appreciated.

Hi Sarah!

Loved this chapter, as always. I really love the way you write them , in the small moments of life. And I adore the kiss in the end. But arggh, what is going to happen now? Can't wait to find out. Thank you :)

Author's Response:

Hi Alois!

I'm glad these little domestic, small moments aren't boring you.  The story will start moving forward again soon - I promise :P  I know I made it sound like there will be a ton of sadness in the next chapter, but it won't be too dark.

Thank you again for your kind words, my friend :)  *big hugs!*  Best of luck with your next chapter of "Consequences" :)

How sweet Ted was to allow them to do his hair.  Blake needs to hurry up or he's going to be late for work.  Love how the three interact.

Author's Response:

Aw, yes - it was very sweet of Ted to allow them to tackle his hair.  I'm sure he scowled quite a bit while it was happening, but deep down, I bet he had fun :P

As for Blake getting to work - I hope I haven't lost track of the days of the week, but I'm pretty sure this breakfast/hair styling is happening on a Sunday morning.  So, no work for Blake yet :)

I'm glad you're enjoying the interactions between these three.  Thank you so much for your lovely comments :)

Reviewer: Flossee (Signed) · Date: November 10, 2014 12:11 PM · On: Down to Earth

I love that the trio are having a little fun and yet the chapter ending seems fitting.  I liked the theme of the chapter; the lighter side of life and the slide back to reality.

This may be written as Ted and Blake's POV's, and Ted may not know Gracie very well, but the insight you have afforded him, through the interaction between the siblings has benefited us, the reader, with a wonderful realistic portrayal of Gracie.

I hope life doesn't become too overwhelming for you.  I look forward to the update whenever RL allows.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Hi Flossee,

Phew!  I was worried the ending was too much, given the lighter nature of what came before it.  I'm still not sure I like that final line as it probably alludes to things getting darker a lot quicker than they actual will :P

Thank you so much for your comments about Gracie.  I toyed with the idea of having a "Gracie POV" for a while, but decided against it.  So I'm delighted to hear that you feel she's still being portrayed realistically.

As for my RL - not to worry - it's just Grad School.   We’re nearing the end of the term and the due dates for papers and assignments are piling on.  It seems all I do is write nowadays : P

By the way, I hope you have a lovely vacation.  I seem to remember you were going away somewhere in November.  If that’s still the case – have a wonderful time!

Thank you once again for your kind and encouraging words :)

Great chapter but a worrying ending.  I hope not too much angst is coming.  I continue t love your story.  Bill

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you, Bill :)  Not to worry about the ending - there will be angst ahead, but it'll be...gradual.  I'm hoping to keep lightness in there alongside the darkness.

I'm glad you still like the story.  Thank you, as always, for your kind words :)

Reviewer: Flossee (Signed) · Date: November 04, 2014 04:41 AM · On: Floating

I would love to see Gracie live with Ted and Blake permanently, but it always worries me when there is a living parent that this happens; unless of course the child is being abused/neglected.  So if the mother isn't abusing/neglected Gracie it is going to be heart wrenching when she has to return home.

I am very interested to know if you are going to have Gracie interact with other members of the family.  Mainly, how she would handle herself around other children.  I assume she is extremely shy.   I look forward to seeing if she remains part of their daily lives.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Hi Flossee,

I agree that Gracie would be a wonderful addition to the Ted and Blake household.  As for the whole issue of custody - I hope to sort that out at some point, but I won't reveal how exactly :P  For now, I'm still focused on the death of Blake's father.

When you mention Gracie interacting with "other members of the family"?  Do you mean other members of her own family, or members of Ted and Blake's family of friends?  It would definitely be interesting to see her around other children.  She'll have to start back at school soon (It's August in the story, and September is just around the corner).

Thank you for your feedback.  You've given me some food for thought :)

YEAH!! Another update of my favorite story. I love how Ted ditched his inner neat freak. I can just imagine the punishment that dementef father gave Gracie for spilling something. Yay for Ted and Bake for showing that spilling flour isn't a crime and taking a light hearted approach of the situation. Ted's instincts are getting stroner, and the three of them seem to be forming a bond an becoming a family. Can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response:

Aw, Jaz!  I always love your enthusiasm!  I still can't believe this is your favourite story :)

It was about time Ted ditched that inner neat freak of his, huh?  The three of them are definitely becoming a little family.  As for the bit about the flour - I wanted to create a scenario that was much like when those little O's (Cheerios) crashed to the floor on the night Blake left home - but for this moment to end happily, rather than with the punishment of their father.  (Hopefully that made sense).

Thank you, as always, for your kind words, Jaz.  I'm glad you're still enjoying this story :)

Ted tossing flour in the air.  Such a cool picture.  Those three have so much in common.

Author's Response:

Haha!  Yes.  It was fun to have Ted squash that inner neat freak of his.  There are definitely lots of similarities between the three of them.

Thanks, YumYum :)

Love how Ted does his best to make Gracie feel at home.  He and Gracie seem to have a lot in common and Blake will probably be the bridge to bring them together.

Author's Response:

Aw, yes.  Gracie and Ted do have a great deal in common :)  I think there will be lots of bridge building in the future :P

Thank you for the comment! :)

Sarah, I absolutely LOVE this chapter and Ted's inner neat freak being able to turn into such a wonderful messy man :) I love Ted's thought when he looks at them and remember Emmett making his inner neat freak weep, I love the love he has for Blake, But I absolutely adore the scene with the flour. 'Safe, happy and carefree...' * smiling *

Thank you. Can't wait for your next update :)

Author's Response:

Wow!  Thank you, Alois!  *smiles*  How sweet of you!  I'm so happy to hear that you liked this chapter as much as you did.

I really loved writing that flour scene as well as the bit about Ted letting go of his inner neat freak.  He had to let go some time :P  And Emmett did make quite a mess in Ted's kitchen in Season 3, didn't he?  I'm sure Ted will never forget that :P

Thank you again, Alois.  I adore reading your comments :)  *hugs*

Thank you for another great chapter my friend. I love this 'socially incompetent' Ted, you capture his thoughts perfectly. Love it :)

Author's Response:

Haha!  Thank you, Alois :)  I must admit - I usually tell people I'm the female version of Ted Schmidt.  I definitely know what it's like to feel "socially incompetent" :P  I'm so glad you felt I captured his character well.  Thank you again for reading and reviewing :)

Author's Response:

*grins*  Thank you, Alois!  I must admit - I giggled when you I read that you loved Ted "for being so...Ted" :)  There will be more of Ted being Ted and Blake/Grace interaction in the future.

Yes, Ted is right to see the good in Blake.  But no sex while a young girl is under their roof.  lol.

Author's Response:

HAHA!  Yes, unfortunately I think sex will be off limits for a little while.  And you're right - Ted is very wise to see the good in Blake.  Thanks for reading, YumYum :)

How can parents be so cruel.  I'm glad that Ted is more than willing to help Gracie, even though he doesn't know the extent of what the help will entail.   Will Blake tell Gracie the reason he left?

Author's Response:

It's amazing how cruel some parents can be.  Ted's definitely willing to help (isn't he always) :P

As for Blake telling Gracie the reason he left...I'm thinking she probably already has a good idea, considering that she's lived under the same roof as their father for many years.  But we shall see :)

Reviewer: Flossee (Signed) · Date: November 01, 2014 11:43 AM · On: Heart and Mind

I have been looking forward to this chapter and it has surpassed my expectations; which I didn't think you could do as my expectation of your work is very high (BTW, that is your fault for writing so well, lol).  Using the simplest of circumstances, wanting a glass of water, to bring the two players together gave rise to superb dialect and an awkwardness that was not over played.  The interaction is plausible and realistic.

I must tell you when Ted found Gracie looking in the cabinets I thought she was looking for alcohol to dispose of.  I was very happy to be wrong.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Gosh, Flossee!  You sure do know how to put a smile on my face :)  Thank you so much!  I'm delighted to hear that your expectations were surpassed - especially considering you set them so high lol  (*blushes* thank you.  It’s very flattering - I just hope I can meet them in the future)

I'm always aiming for realism, so I'm very happy you felt the interaction between Ted and Gracie was real and plausible.  I had a great time writing a scene between these two.

Oh and I hadn't even considered the idea of Gracie looking through the cabinets for alcohol to dispose of.  Luckily, she wouldn't have found any, considering neither Ted nor Blake are drinkers.  I'm happy you were happy to be wrong about that :P

Thank you again for your kind words, Flossee.  I always look forward to reading your thoughts – you’re always so sweet and insightful :)

WOw!! What a wonderful treat for HALLOWEEN! This has to be my favorite chapter. Just love the conversation between Ted & Gracie. I love Ted and you really have his shyness and social awkwardness down.Ted may be a man of few words, but what he says is so on powerful and the love and protectiveness he shows for those he cares for melts my heart. Ted is a good man and this story really showcases that.I can't wait for the update!!!

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you so much, Jaz!  Wow - your favourite chapter?  That's wonderful to hear! :)

I'm so glad you liked the Ted & Gracie interaction.  If there's one thing I can relate to when it comes to Ted - it's his shyness and social awkwardness - so those bits were fairly easy to write :P

He's definitely such a good, caring person and I'm happy that's coming across in this story.

Thank you again for reading it and leaving me such an enthusiastic review.  It's always a delight to read your kind words :)

Happy to see another update.  Ted is such a care giver you are doing a great job telling his story.  THanks for the quick update.  Bill

Author's Response:

Thank you, Bill :)  Happy I could provide an update quicker than usual.

I couldn't agree more about Ted.  I always saw him as the true caregiver on the show - he takes care of Emmett when Emmett believes he might be positive, he forgives Emmett for cheating and holds him when he cries, he lets Michael sleep on his sofa when he's having problems at home with Ben, (I think) he's the first person Brian tells about his cancer, not to mention all the things he did for Blake, and the way he was willing to see the good in him when no one else did.

Oops...sorry for ramblng.  I just really love Teddy :P

Thank you again for a lovely review, Bill.  I'm glad you're still enjoying the story :)

Oh. My. God... The death of a child. The damages. The guilt... You sure know how to write it with an accuracy I have rarely seen. I could almost empathize with Blake's father for a second. Almost. Of course, that doesn't excuse his behavior over his own flesh and blood, but the lost of a child could destroy any man. And Blake is... Wow. It's brilliant. THANK YOU

Author's Response:

Aw, your comments made me so happy, Alois :)  Thank YOU! *hugs*

I'm so glad you felt a tiny bit of empathy for Blake's father.  I hate making characters into complete monsters, even though they may do despicable things.  The death of a child is certainly a terrible loss.

Also, just to warn you - from this point on, the chapters are written from a first person perspective.  I hope you won't mind the change.  I felt like I could write about what was going on in the characters' minds better this way. Please feel free to tell me if you don't like it though!

Thank you once again for your continued loveliness.  Your reviews always brighten my day :)

I love the way you wrote Blake being torn when leaving Gracie.  Even if the distance is physically negligible, emotionally it must seem immense.

"I'm- I don't know how I am" I like this honesty.  Most authors would jump in to a spiel about feelings, but you have written a more realistic reply and one more apt to this character.  Your character writing is exceptional.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you so much, Flossee!  You have no idea how happy your comments made me.  I smiled when you mentioned the physical vs. emotional distance.  That was certainly what I hoped to convey.

And can I just hug you saying that my character writing is exceptional.  You are too sweet :)  Oh and believe me, I was tempted to jump into a spiel about feelings in that moment :P

Yes!!!! I was just thinking about this story and what do ya know...you posted. I love the conversation between Gracie and Blake. He so loves his little sister and visa versa. Oh and the sharing of feelings that Blake has with Ted just got me. Finally Blake opening up and letting him know how confused he's feeling. I just have to ask on a light note, what is up with that sofa bed? LOL!

Author's Response:

Hey Jaz!  There must be some telepathy going on between us :P

I'm glad you enjoyed the Blake/Gracie and Ted/Blake conversations :)

Oh and as for the sofa bed...Well, I figure Ted and Blake live in a one bedroom apartment.  They don't really have a proper guest room for Gracie.  So the only other bed in their place is a pull out sofa bed (It's a sofa that sort of converts into a full-size bed, just in case you have no idea what I'm trying to refer to lol).  Having slept on one many times, I can definitely say they usually aren't the most comfy things on the planet :P

Thanks again for your review, Jaz.  I'm so glad you're continuing to read and enjoy this story :)

It will certainly be hard to mourn a man that has been responsible for so much pain, and factors like never being able to confront the man and find closure for what he has done will only make it more difficult.

Ted offering to take Gracie really shows the character of the man.  I look forward to seeing how Gracie and Ted interact once they are living under the same roof.  I shouldn't imagine Ted knows the first thing about children.

I'm not going on another vacation until next month, but if you could find your way to update before then I would really appreciate it. LOL

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Hi Flossee,

Yes, it certainly will be difficult to mourn his father, but I think Blake will find a way - eventually ;)  Ted's definitely got a "really big heart" as Michael says in the pilot :)  And I definitely plan on having him and Gracie interact - we'll see if Ted can overcome that "only child syndrome" :P

In light of your upcoming vacation, I'll try to get an update up before the end of the month :P  I've had a giant academic essay to take care of this week, but I hope to get back to writing this story on the weekend/next week.  I hope you have a great time while you're away.

Thank you for your lovely comments, once again :)

Hey, did you change your banner or am I still in holiday mode?  This site is becoming very predictable, each time MW announces a challenge I seem to need an operation, and each time I go on vacation you update.  Well, it looks like I need to take more vacations.  LOL

This chapter is very insightful and the depth of feeling Blake and Jenny are experiencing is clear.  You have captured Blake's reactions and the interaction between Blake, Ted and Jenny perfectly.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Lovely to see you back, Flossee!  Not to worry, I did indeed change the banner for this story haha.  Gosh, MW better not have any more challenges then.  I really hope you don't have to go through any more operations :/

How about we reverse things though - I'll update this story more often, so you'll get to take more vacations :P  I hope the one you just returned from was nice and relaxing :)

I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.  It's always wonderful to read your thoughts.

Thank you for reading and reviewing, as always :)

Author's Response:

Aw, thanks, lovely!  I love any review that starts with "damn..." :P   I'm so glad you liked this second chapter, darlin'.  Sorry to have made you all teary-eyed though.

Thank you again for your wonderful comments.  It seems you've found yet another avenue of social media through which to make me smile :)  *cuddles*

Oh Sarah dear, this was perfect! You got talent, seriously. I pictured the whole thing perfectly and I can totally see this happening for real. I like how we're learning more about Blake's family. That would explain a lot. And the dynamic that is forming between the 3 characters is very interesting.

Okay I'm off to bed now but I can't wait to read the next chapter tomorrow ^^

Author's Response:

OMG!  Brune!  What a lovely surprise!  *squee*  Thank you!  I'm so glad you liked it :)

To be honest, I’m not really a fan of the next few chapters, mainly because I was never planning to continue the story as long as I have.  Had I known that I was going to, I probably would have written those early chapters differently, but oh well.

Still, I’m glad you enjoyed the dynamic between the three characters, and that you felt like you could see it all happening "for real" :)  Also, just in case you're wondering - the first person writing doesn't start until chapter 8 :P (I thought you might be reading this thinking - "wait a minute - this isn't first person!")

Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to read and review this, darling :)   Receiving your comment was the perfect way to end my evening :)

Wow!!!! What an emotional and powerful chapter. I adore Blake's sisters. I'm so glad that Ted suggested that Grace stay with them. I'm hoping that Ted & Blake will soon express those thoughts they have about each other and their roles in their relationship, in other words...COMMUNICATE.I hope we get a better understanding of Blake's mother and why she stayed in this abusive relationship and allowed her children to become punching bags (no doubt she was) to this cruel man.The ending of the chapter left a lump in my throat. Just a well written and heart-felt story that I'll anxiously await for an update.

Author's Response:

Aw! Thank you, Jaz!  I'm glad you're so fond of Blake's sisters and that you found this chapter to be powerful :)

Don't worry - I hope to get Ted and Blake to communicate openly soon.  As for Blake's mother - to be honest, I'm still figuring her out in my mind.

In any case, I hope that lump in your throat didn't last too long.  Thank you again for your lovely comments.  They always put a smile on my face :)

Another really great.moving chapter.  The story just gets better and better.  Really interesting to have a story revolve around Blake and Ted.  You are doing a terrific job.

Aw, thank you very much, Bill :)  It's great to hear that you feel the story is getting "better and better".  I'm always looking to improve!

Is it wrong to feel happy that Blake's Dad is dead?  I'm glad that Ted is there to help and look forward to his meeting with Gracie.  Things should be looking up for that family.

Author's Response:

Hi YumYum!

You're the second person to ask whether it is "wrong" to feel happy that Blake's father is dead :P

And not to worry - a meeting with Gracie is coming right up.

Thank you for reading and reviewing, once again :)

YAAAAAY!!!!!! An update of the best story on this site. Is it wrong to be happy for the death of Blake's mentally and physically abusive father. Maybe, with this sociopath gone Blake and his family can become closer. I hope Blake opens up to Ted and allows him to help him heal.Blake seems to be doing the Brian Kinney version of pain management, suffering in silence and ignoring his feelings of bad memories of his father through cleaning up his old man's mess.I just love this story, and will wait patiently for an update.

Author's Response:

JAZ!  "The best story on this site"???  *blushes*  I don't really think that's accurate, but it's so, so lovely of you to say! :)  Thank you!!

And I don't think it's wrong to feel at least a little pleased that Blake's father is out of his life.

Don't worry - I won't let Blake descend too far into "The Brian Kinney version of pain management".  There may actually be some interaction between those two in the future ;)

Well, thank you, Jaz for your continued support.  Your wonderful comments always help me stay motivated to keep writing ;)

This is such a well written beautiful chapter; which BTW is very aptly names.

Cheers :)

Sorry for putting your emotions through the wringer.  The next chapter will be less intense, that's for sure.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one nonetheless.  I'm glad you liked the name too - I always struggle with naming chapters :P

Fortunately, I think if anyone can help Blake, Ted can ;)

Wow, the way you described Blake's father sounds like you have had firsthand knowledge of this behaviour.  I hope that's not true.  This is very well written, and maybe just a bit to realistic for me.  I did like that it was written as Blake's pov.

I'm surprised reviewers would be negative about your irregular updates, you may take a little longer than most, but some fics wait years before their authors update.  Just as long as I know you are going to finish it, I'm happy.  RL must always take precedence, whether that is family, health, work, study or just plain fun.  Congratulations on grad school.

Cheers :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, Flossee :) (for the review and the congratulations)  I’m sorry it felt a bit too realistic for you.   Walt is based somewhat on a family member of mine - fortunately he was not my father.

I’m glad to hear you liked reading Blake’s POV though.  I really enjoyed writing in first person.  It helped me get inside Blake’s head a bit more, if that makes any sense.

I was a bit surprised by those reviewers too, mostly because I sometimes forget that people actually read the things I write.  I tend to write for myself and then I’m shocked when I realise people actually want to read more of it.

I’m glad you are still reading and reviewing :)  I always look forward to your lovely comments.   Thank you again.

Cheers :)

I wish you would update this story.I hate when author's on this site sometimes don't let us fans know that there is a perfectly  good explanation for a story not being updated.I know that life gets in the way or maybe a writer's creative juices aren't flowing in regards to the story, but it's really not to much to ask to let us know what is going on.I keep thinking of all the stories that we fans have shown an interest in and have been abandon by the authors.Just sad and I hope this isn't one of the growing number of abandon fan-fic.

Reviewer: Flossee (Signed) · Date: April 09, 2014 06:05 AM · On: The Storm

At the beginning of chapter 6 I thought Blake was talking about his mother in the restaurant, but it was his sister.  Was that intentional to write it that way or was that just something I hadn't picked up on.  It was very clever writing if it was intentional.  Some parts of this fic are very close to home for me.  I love the way Blake has his rock; Ted.  I was surprised by the death of Blake's brother Adam, but it sounds like it was the father's fault.  A child shouldn't have the responsibility of watching over so many siblings.  I love this update as it has moved the story along nicely.  Thank you.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Hi Flossee! :)

Ooo, it's neat that you thought Blake was talking about his mother.  I had intended for the female character to be a bit of a mystery at first (for the reader not to know who she as Blake is describing her), but I was never thinking specifically about Blake's mother :P

I hope the parts of this fic that are close to home for you are happy rather than sad.

Great story.  So interesting to have astory devoted to Nlake & Ted.  You are doing a spectacular job of fleshing out Blake with little to go on from the show.  Really enjoying your story

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  Your review made me smile :)  It's great to hear that you like the way I'm developing Blake's character beyond what was presented in the show.  I'm having a lot of fun (even though it tends to be quite angsty).  It may sound weird, but Blake was one of my favourite characters on the show.  You're right - there is very little to go on from the show itself, but there were some hints about his past here and there.  I suppose there was always a great deal of mystery to him, so it's neat to have an oppourtunity to flesh out his character a bit more.

I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far :)

Thank you again for reading and reviewing!

This is very good!  I'm mainly a dyed-in-the-wool B/J fan, but I think you have done an excellent job of capturing Ted and Blake's characters here.  Ted's uncertainty, his gentleness, his grace. And Blake's playfulness but also vulnerability. I like the slower pace of this fic as you flesh it out.  This is an area seldom written about in QAF fan fiction, so I applaud you for doing this. Will be looking forward to the rest. ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for the reading and reviewing, Kim.  I'm glad you felt my characterization of Ted and Blake was accurate.  That's always a relief to hear :)  I love your descriptions of them, by the way!

I'm also glad you like the slower pace of the fic.  I think I like details a little too much :P

Thank you again for your comments.  Your kind words were lovely to read :)

I have to tell you that your story was one of the biggest discoveries I made recently between fanfiction. Honestly, I do not read stories out of pairing Brian / Justin and I make a great selection of what I read or not (I have very little time to read). So as I am very focused for writing and reading stories about B / J, I, in general, do not read fics that are not focused on them. But. your story just changed it for me.

Frankly, I would not read it, but I am reviewing some parts of the show to write a fic and today I saw the scene where Ted finds Blake drugged after he finds his wallet (I think one of the most moving scenes of the show) and because seeing the scene, I decided to read his story to see how the two are. Now, I'm very happy to have it done. Your story is wonderful!

You write very well. His description of the subjective feelings involves us in the story that allows us to abandon the reading and increases the desire to want to see more. I liked seeing the two together, supporting one another, being really partners. Among all couples of the show, I always thought Ted Blake and the couple more feasible, since both been through a lot together and managed to face their demons and overcome them.

I really like Ted. I think he is a much better friend to Brian than Michael. Incidentally, he is a great friend and a great support to all those around him.

Well, I want you to know that with your story, you changed my way of selecting what I read and from now on I shall give more attention to other pairings in fanfiction. Just keep me faithful to my aversion to Brian / Michael (my stomach does not support it).

A big hug!

Fatima.

PS: I hope you can understand what I'm writing. I do not speak English (only Portuguese) and use a translator of texts to read and write. Sorry for any error (was Google translator) :)

...

Author's Response:

Wow!  What a wonderful review!  Thank you so much, Fatima :)    Don't worry, I didn't have any trouble understanding what you wrote.

It means so much to me that you chose to read my story, even though you usually don't read stories that focus on characters other than Brian and Justin.  I'm happy to know that my little story has helped change the way you will select what fanfiction to read :)  And don't worry, your stomach is safe - I don't plan on writing any Brian / Michael stories :P

The scene you mentioned where Ted finds Blake drugged after he finds his wallet is one of my favourites.  I agree with you - it's very moving.  And I like Ted too.  He's definitely a very good friend to everyone.

Thank you again for saying that my story was wonderful and for taking the time to read it, especially since you have very little time to read.

You've really made me smile :)

A big hug to you too, Fatima!  Muito Obrigada! (Hopefully that says "Thank you very much" in Portuguese)

Hey, it’s good to see you back. I tread with trepidation as I write this review, since I killed Blake off in my last fic; as I know how you feel about these guys, as do I. This is another well written chapter capturing both men so well. Ted wearing lipstick, I didn’t expect that, and I was so happy Blake could talk him out of thinking he wasn’t handsome, as Ted permanently wearing makeup wouldn’t be a good look. LOL I hope seeing this update means Fearless is next.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your continued support Flossee :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter, and I must agree, I'm not sure Ted wearing make-up perminantly would be a very good look :P

And yes, the next chapter of Fearless is complete - I'm just have to edit it :)

I'm off to read your latest fic - hopefully Blake's death won't hurt too much...

I'll be honest and admit that I normally overlook non Brian or Justin centric stories. (Yeah, I know... pathetic.) After reading this - wow - I think about the words of that old song I overlooked an orchid in search of a rose...

This is wonderful: the writing is crisp and concise and conveys so much in such little space! A talent I have never acquired, unfortuntely. You have a distinct talent, my friend, and I'm glad you are sharing it with us.

We (okay, I) focus so much on the b/j pairing, with their compelling angst and chemistry and connection, that we (okay, I) forget that the other characters were struggling with their own issues. Ted was such a support role during the series, but his character growth is probably the most far-reaching - even beyond Brian's I think. He's kind of like the drummer in the band - necessary to keep the beat, but pushed to the back in favor of the vibrancy of the guitars and the sexiness of the lead singers.

The unimaginable strength it takes to overcome the particular obstacles that faced Ted and Blake is so apparent here, but you don't lose the fact that this strength is a very fragile thing at times. I love this. Can't wait for more of their story and your storytelling.

Author's Response:

I was left truly speechless by your review, Roni.  I read it with my hands over my mouth.  It's certainly the loveliest review I've ever recieved.  I can't thank you enough for your overwhelmingly kind words :)   It’s so wonderful to hear that you enjoyed my writing style, especially since I’m quite new to the world of fan fiction.

And don't worry - I don't think it’s "pathetic" at all that you tend to overlook non Brian/Justin stories.  To be honest, when I first began posting my Ted/Blake fics here, I wasn't sure if anyone would read them, but I am so grateful that you did.

Also, I must say, the way you described Ted as "the drummer in band" is so accurate.  It beautifully conveys what I've always felt about Ted - he may not be flashy or vibrant, but he adds a wonderful and important complexity to the group as a whole.

As for his character growth, I couldn't agree with you more.  I've always seen him as perhaps the show's most psychologically troubled character, and watching him and Blake overcome their mutual struggles was one of the most deeply gratifying aspects of the series, at least for me personally.

Anyway, I'll quit rambling.  What can I say - your review ignited my passions :)  Thank you once again for your wonderful comments and for taking the time to read my story.  I can’t tell you how much it means to me :)

I love how thoughtful and tender Ted is.  Blake is a lucky man.

Author's Response:

Aw, I'm glad you enjoyed Ted's thoughtfulness and tenderness.  Blake is lucky indeed :)

Wow, who would have thought that Blake had so much in common with Brian Kinney.  I hope his suggestion for the board goes through.  I thorougly hate his father, not only for showing up and insulting Blake, but for taking the money that could have helped his family and throwing it back in Blakes face.  Can't wait to see what your plans are for this story.

Author's Response:

Glad you noticed the Blake/Brian connection ;)  I really wanted to avoid bringing yet another abysmal father figure into the QaF mix, but it really seemed to fit Blake's character.  I always felt, at least in the beginning, that he was in search of a father figure - someone to show him kindness and gentleness, and I think he finds that in Ted.  I always thought it was very telling that Blake referred to Ted as "the first guy who ever believed in him."

As for his father's alcoholism - that was spurred by the fact that Blake tells Ted very early on that he doesn't drink alcohol.  I always thought this was a bit strange, given that he willingly ingests crystal meth.  So I thought it might be plausible for him to have an alcoholic father and for that experience to have caused him swear off ever drinking it himself.

Phew!  Appologies for the lengthy explanation.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing :)

I'm glad that this wasn't a one shot- thought it was-  Blake is so hurt and I hope that he can heal and let Ted help him do so.

Author's Response:

Well, I'm glad that you're glad that it wasn't a one shot.  That's lovely to hear :)  And yes, poor Blake.  Thankfully, these two always seem to manage to help each other through dark times.

“And I love that you’re nice”. That’s our Teddy always such a nice man. I love the interaction you are writing here between them. Thank you for the update, I really enjoyed it.

Cheers

Oh woman, what are you doing to me. I thouroughly enjoyed reading that. A real rollercoaster of emotions, ranging from bittersweet sadness to anger to fluffy pleasant aches in the pit of my stomach. Beautifully worded and the flow of the story is nice. I'm a sucker for internal monologue and you really did it well. They're incredibly in character and I cannot wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

Aww thank you! :D  Sorry for putting you through that rollercoaster ride :P  It's such a relief to hear that you felt they were "in character" *phew*

Thank you for continuing to read and review my crazy ramblings :) *hugs*

I know it’s a bit late but welcome to MW. It looks like you joined the day after I did so we are both still relatively new to the site. I not sure if you post elsewhere but I can see this is your first fic here and I just wanted to let you know I have really enjoyed it so far. I love Ted and Blake but it is very hard to get people to read stories based on them but this one is very well written. I look forward to the update.

Cheers

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the kind words :)  It's great to find another relatively new person around here, especially someone who loves Ted and Blake.

I actually read your fic entitled “Snap” when you first posted it, as I’m always on the lookout for fics featuring Ted and/or Blake.  It’s absolutely wonderful! :)

Needless to say, I was quite thrilled to see that you read and commented on my story.   I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it so far.  It’s the first piece of fanfiction I’ve ever written, so I was more than a bit nervous as to how it would be received.

Your comments have put a smile on my face and given me a bit more confidence.  Thank you :)

Author's Response:

*smiles and blushes*

Thank you!!!

I'm so glad the tension came through :)  I never realized how fun it is to write arguments :P

There will be more soon ;)

Great chapter. I love Teddy and I was glad he found Blake at the end of the original series. This seems a very promising story. There aren't enough stories written about Ted and Blake. Can't wait to read more.

Cheers,

Vin

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Vin.  Needless to say I love Teddy (and Blake) too.  I really do wish there were more fics written about them.  Glad you liked the story and thank you for taking the time to read it :)

This is very interesting!  I always loved Ted's character - his kindess, his humility, his insecurity - and I really liked his relationship with Blake, even through their difficulties.  This is different from most of the stories posted here, and while I love B and J the most, I will enjoy watching how you develop Blake's estrangement from his father, as well as his relationship with Ted.  Looking forward to more.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Oh wow, thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words, Kim!  They mean a great deal :)  Although I adore B and J, I must admit there has always been a special place in my heart from Ted and Blake.  I’m so to hear that glad you enjoyed the story, as I was quite nervous about posting it.  *hugs* :)
