Ooh gosh that was good... I'm very much enjoying the unfolding drama of arrogant teenage Brian being taken down a peg or two!

Dun Dun DUUUNNNNNNN!!!! Jared's dead! Or at least  seriously bodily injured! Loved the hotwire of the tractor and the uncle saying....thank you... to our hero! HA!

Author's Response:

See? He's not always an a-hole... I think he'll come around eventually.  I figured if anyone could hotwire a vehicle it would be Brian - LOL!  Thanks for the comment.:)

Sorry I just got to read!  Work is biting me in the butt.  Flu has hit, power outages and impatient people.  It tends to push one to the edge.  Anyway this story is making me feel a whole lot better.  When we were kids-my siblings and I-used to take each others clothes and hide them when we were swimming.  There was a small pond by my aunt's farm.  It was small but a lot of fun for us.  This takes me back a few years and made be very sentimental.  Thank you for that. Brian and Justin need to have a (serious) discussion on what he thought happened.  He needs to stop jumping to conclusions as he didn't even see the series of events. I guess it will be ironed out soon.  Really am enjoying this one so much.

Author's Response:

Hi, Kym!  Sorry that things sound so hectic where you're at right now; this heat is very oppressive, isn't it?  And it makes for short tempers I fear, too.  I can only imagine how hot it might be later this summer!  I'm glad you had a chance to read this, though, and that you enjoyed it.:)  It always makes me happy when I've struck a sentimental chord with someone.  My family originated in Kentucky and I still have a lot of relatives there.  I went to visit my grandmother often in southeastern Kentucky and can still remember having to use an outhouse until she got public water - ouch!  I loved to explore her farm, though, and look for arrowheads which were so abundant you could literally walk around and pick them up off the ground!  Amazing!  And I loved to hear the sound of the train whistle and the clacking on the tracks at night as it approached.  So I'm very happy that it brings back memories for you, too.:)

Yes, I see Brian having it out with Jared first and then his REAL challenge begins - convincing Justin of what actually happened.  I do see them as friends first, bonding over shared experiences before they move onto a deeper relationship.  Thank you again for reading and for the feedback, Kym.  Hope things settle down soon for you at work and the temps go down, along with the tempers!  I'll get this updated again very soon.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

oh - this chapter is just delightful! I love that we got to glimpse the first step in what I hope will be an eventual truce  - or more - between Brian and his uncle - saw the same uncle soften and show how much he loves his wife - and then this last scene - well - yes - it was definitely worth the wait - but then isn't it always?

can't wait for Jared to have his little talking to - I hope Brian really cuts him down a peg or two - and then I can't wait to see as Brian shows Justin that not everyone thinks Jared is the favored son... (which, BTW, I really don't understand since Justin's contribution to the family finances has probably been singularly keeping them afloat - you'd think the dad would see that too - but then it's Craig...)

anxious for more...but more than willing to wait...I still say delayed gratification makes the end result so very satisfying...like a thirst finally quenched after a long drought - nothing quite like it!

thanks my friend for this story - it's definitely got me anticipating waht comes next

Charle

Author's Response:

Hi, Charle! Thank you for the lovely review, my friend.  I'm very grateful and I'm happy that you're enjoying it.:)  Brian is very angry at the moment, and I think Jared will clearly understand that in the next chapter.  Now all Brian has to do is figure out how to make Justin believe him.  I do see him and Brian being friends first before they are lovers.  And I have a few more items to torment Brian with first - ha!  He and his uncle's relationship will continue to have a lot of ups and down, especially regarding the son.  I think it will be the next chapter where more details will emerge regarding how Dale died.

Thank you again for all the support you give my stores, Charle.  You very special to do that and it's so encouraging.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Who knew our boy was so mechanically minded.  I'm sure that's not all he is going to tinker with. Ha!  Skinny dipping-fun, except when your clothes are confiscated.  This second half was fun.  Justin needs to be told the truth of the barn happening.  Go Brian give him the facts man-just the facts.  I still think a romp in the hay would be delicious.  Rambling now-need sleep. lol

Author's Response:

Hi, lindc!  That's okay - I could understand you fine even in your half-lethargic state - LOL!  Yes, Justin is showing some unexpected chutzpah against his sexy neighbor, which I think will just captivate Brian even more.  Speaking of which, I see a quite heated discussion about to take place between him and Jared; he is NOT going to be happy with what the older brother had done.  I also see a deepening friendship first between the city boy and the country boy before they turn into lovers; I think that provides me with many more opportunities to torment Brian first - ha!  Hope you are out of the hospital and fully recovered now, my friend.:)  Take care and thanks again for all the support you give me!  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Ahhhhhh. Skinny dipping with Brian . . . I think I need to jump in a cool pond after thinking about that. Fun chapter. I'm looking forward to more fun down at the lake once the boys get better acquainted. TAG

Author's Response:

Thank you, Tag!  May have to do some more 'skinny dipping' again later, because I enjoyed writing that episode.:)  I think I may have some other fun in mind for them (no, not that - at least not yet!).  I had an inspiration for an outing for them while I was the Dayton, OH airport of all places!  Saw it on a tee-shirt and thought to myself, "I have to include that in the story!"  Funny where I get my inspirations from - LOL!  Thanks for reading and for the comments.:)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

* sitting here with a big smile *

- Love the lunch scene : Brian must really like that food, it's low-fat.

- A rototiller. A What? * giggles * Brian could see the thing, but I do not. Had to search for a pic of a rototiller.  Don't use difficult words!! * joking *

- "Uh...isn't that your old tractor?" Love the scene that follows. Brian and Will together in peace. And Will thanking Brian.

- And that last scene by and in the lake ... wonderful. * grins * Brian did deserve it. I expected something like that (Brian under water and having no clothes). Haha I know justin.

Great chapter, thanks kim.

* hugs *

Author's Response:

Thanks, Marny!  So glad you enjoyed it.:)  I AM having fun with Brian's lack of knowledge about farm life, and I'm sure I'm not done yet with tormenting the poor man.  But look at it this way - I know a beautiful little blond neighbor who will come in handy when he needs 'explanations.'  (wink, wink).  And yes, Brian and his uncle's relationship will continue to change over time to one where they are BOTH benefitting from it.  Thanks so much for reading and for the comments, my friend; I will get this updated again very soon.:)  *Hugs* ~Kim

The scene at the lake was great! I would hide Justin's clothes too, lol! Can't wait for more!

Author's Response:

Hi, Stephanie!  That did seem very Brian Kinney-ish, didn't it?  LOL! But I think Justin had the last laugh, though, and Brian will be the ridiculous-looking one in Justin's clothes.:)  Somehow I don't think he will walk home without a stitch of clothing on, though; we'll just have to see how he handles that little dilemma in the next chapter.:)  Thanks very much for the comments; I'm happy that you're enjoying the story.  *Hugs*  Kim

I do seem to act like a psycho killer in some of my reviews, I really am not a threat to society, the body count in my basement is very low. I just think the nasty people in the stories should suffer enough to make the story perfect for the good people. This was a very wonderful chapter, I have fond memories of a Farmall tractor from my younger days. The hot and humid weather right outside my door is making me wish I had a cool lake close enough to walk to. I'm very glad a snapping turtle didn't swim by and latch on to anything bobbing around. That would have ended the water play even sooner. Now I wonder how the boys will explain the mix up of clothes. Is it safe to say Brian will not be interested in Jared anymore? Oh, one last thing, I would love to get a sniff of Justin all sweaty and horsey. YUM.
Lori

Author's Response:

You are TOO funny, Lori! I can't remember if it was Tag who suggested it or not, but you really SHOULD think about writing a story, especially a humorous one.  I think it would be a hoot!  Glad to know that there's still more room down in the basement for additional recalcitrant characters that my vivid imagination may happen to stir up in the future.:)  And yes, it should be quite interesting how the clothes switch is handled. Something tells me that as pissed as Brian is, I think he will wait until he can re-obtain his dignity and slip into his own clothes again before he confronts Jared.  As for Justin, he might just march into his brother's room proudly and be quite happy to tell him where he got the clothes - or do I see an embellishment coming there, too?  Hmm....Let's just say that the next chapter should be quite revealing in more ways than one.:)

Giddy up, horsey is all I can say - ha!  And I'll make sure to keep all snapping turtles away from any bobbing submarines - up, periscope!  Thanks for reading and for the hysterical comments!  *Hugs*  ~Kim

OMG, this was an awesome update! The scene with Brian on the lake was hilarious. Serves him right to have Justin walk off in his clothes!

I loved so many details - the tractor, the interaction between Brian's aunt and uncle, the growing closeness (I hope) between Brian and his uncle. Your descriptions, again, are so vivid it's like I am right there on the farm.

A very well done chapter! I can't wait for the rest.

Cheers,

Vin

Author's Response:

Aww...thank you for those lovely words, Vin!  Yes, I'm glad to have Brian and his uncle slowly warming up to each other.  There will still be some bumps in the road - especially having to do with Will having to relive his son's death - but eventually I think both of them will come out better for knowing each other.  As for Justin, I see him and Brian starting out more as friends initially before something more explosive happens, but really - how long can Justin hold out?  Hee, hee...I'm going to enjoy finding out!  Thanks again, my dear.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

"Uh...isn't that your old tractor?"

I love to see things are warming up between Will and Brian. The subtle way you have them finally relating to each other is heartwarming and beautifully done.

Now that pool scene was to die for. I thought for sure that Brian had Justin just where he wanted him but it's like reading a Brer Rabbit story or Roadrunner and the Coyote.  LOVED IT!

I can't wait to see what Brian is going to do with that epiphany he got at the end.

It is so refreshing to read a story like this. I'm amazed at how you come up with these stories. Please keep them coming. :)

Author's Response:

What a lovely review, my friend; you don't know how much that means to me! Thank you for your wonderful comments.  I LOVED the reference to Wily Coyote and the Roadrunner; that is such an apt description of the boys  here!  Beep, beep - LOL!  I adore the give and take that occurs with their relationship.  Their younger ages will make their reactions and responses perhaps a little different in this story, but their personalities would still be the same.  Now Brian is about to go on the warpath with Jared; anyone who lies about his reputation is open to attack, and Brian is not going to be happy with the lie that Jared has perpetuated on his younger brother.  And of course, Brian will have to find a way to make Justin believe that it wasn't true.

Thank you again for the feedback; I appreciate your support so much!  *Hugs*  ~Kim

That's funny that you write about the 'swimming hole', because I was just thinking of a similar story for a younger B/J pair.

Brian is po'd at Jared, eh?  It's nice to see Brian realizing that Justin is the hotter of the two.  Good story.

- Jackie

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  Every time I hear "swimming hole," I actually think about the old "Andy Griffith Show," because in the lyrics to the theme song (probably most people don't even REALIZE there are lyrics, but there are), there is a mention of going down to the 'old swimming hole.'  I'd love to read your story's version of it; I'll be looking forward to it.  And yes, I think it's safe to say that Brian is NOT going to be happy that Jared told Justin a lie regarding their rendevous in the barn.  I think Jared has just struck out!  But even without the lie, I think Brian's attention is now diverted elsewhere.  Just how long will he and Justin have to parry, though, before the blond gives in?  Hmmm...I'm going to enjoy writing that part - LOL! Thanks for reading and for the comments, my friend.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

I love Justin's attitude!!! lol!! I'm looking forward for more please!!!!!

Author's Response:

Hi, Sorcha! So great to hear from you, Sweetheart.:)  Yes, I like the more fiery Justin as well; Brian's going to have to work for that boy!  So glad you liked it; I'll be sure to get it updated again very soon.  Thanks again.  *Hugs*  Kim

Great chapter, I can't wait for Jared to see Justin on Brian's clothes, way to go Justin.

Author's Response:

Ha!  I hadn't thought of that!  And wait until Brian's aunt and uncle see him in JUSTIN'S clothes - LOL!  Thank you for the comments; I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, Luisa.:)  I'll be getting it updated again very soon.:)  *Hugs*  Kim

I loved this chapter. It's nice to see Brian and his uncle becoming used to each other. And I'm dying to find out exactly what happened with Dale. And GO JUSTIN!! Way to put Brian in his place! I don't envy Jared right now...

Author's Response:

Thank you, Megan; yes, it's starting to shape up nicely now.:)  I DO love to make Brian work for his prize, though.  And you're right - Jared's scheme will REALLY go 'to pot' now - Ha!  I think if there's anything worse for Brian than being rejected, it's being lied to, and especially regarding such a touchy subject.  I think he will straighten Jared out ASAP, and now all he has to do is get Justin to understand.  But his neighbor boy is going to be busy with the race coming up, and I don't see him just giving in just yet, even when he DOES discover the truth.  And...I just might see a rival for Justin's affections showing up soon, too.  I do love a jealous Brian (yum)....

Thank you for reading and for the comments, Megan!  I'll be getting this updated again very soon.:)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Ahhhh this was wonderful, my friend. I think my most favorite chapter of this fun story so far. I had read your note that you would be posting another installment, so I forced myself to wait. Of course, being so busy helped in that decision too. LOL. I'm so glad I did, though. This was such fun. I love the progression of the story. Poor Brian. Life on the farm is just not his comfort zone... but, he's certainly making his mark here - or attempting to do so. LOL. The water antics were delightful. Brian is so sure of himself (as always), and Justin is so proud and strong, determined not to be second choice most especially to his own brother. That's good to see. Although, I think the playing field changed. I don't think he is Brian's second choice... I'm not sure he ever was; more of the less accessible one. I certainly wouldn't want to be Jared when Brian gets ahold of him. I doubt it will be in the way the aggravating older brother expects.

Okay, that's the longest review I've left in forever... but, this was such a fun and exciting chapter. I thoroughly enjoy this story. Undoubtedly, my favorite of yours currently. I can't wait to see what happens next. *Hugsss*

Author's Response:

Thank you, my friend; as always I know that you have my back (as I have yours).:)  I thought readers would definitely not mind the little extra wait if I could include the 'water dance' at the end - LOL!  We're definitely going to see a shift in dynamics now, but I still have a lot more to tell about the back story regarding the tragedy of Dale's death.  So glad you liked this chapter!  Thank you for the feedback; I will be eagerly waiting for your story updates.  *Hugs back*  ~Kim
