I dont know how I managed to miss this story but apparently I did. Just finished reading it. Absolutely loved it. Such a change to see Brian in a vulnerable state, even though you tried to hide him behind his usual brash, snarky self. You put just enough angst to keep me reading late into the night. Few moments of tears as well. Have always enjoyed your writing and hope to see more of it. Thanks for sharing your gift with us.

Author's Response:

Hi, Susan! Thank you for reading this story and for your kind words. I always love to get feedback, no matter how old the story, and this one was one of my favorites to write. I'm so glad you liked it. I still love these boys and love writing about them. I have several new story ideas that I have started on, so hopefully one day I will get one completed.  Thanks again for reading this one and especially for taking the time to leave your encouraging comments; I really appreciate that. :)  ~Kim

Jared is such a little piece of shit. So glad his "plan" didn't work. I hope Craig woop his ass, but I doubt it. Geez poor Justin <3

Loved this chapter so much. And Justin father is so... Ugh. He is too much. He is a teen damn it,  but they are suffocating him. He is carrying the whole family on his back.

And Brian being silly xD He is so smitten with Justin hehe. Can't wait for Em to come.

And Jared is such an asshole. I know what is like to have such a brother *sigh*

Wonderful chapter as always, Kim. Amazing work considering you had such a stressful time of it with your father's death and all your teaching commitments... That must have been really hard for you. Xx

The relationships you draw here are so touchingly rendered... I believe in all these characters and find myself really rooting for them!

What a fantastic scene you have described here in the barn... You imbue the calving with such tension, I was reading with bated breath. And moving the story on in terms of the growing respect between uncle and nephew. Amazing writing. I'm enjoying this story so much.

Reviewer: Leather Cuff (Signed) · Date: March 19, 2019 10:10 AM · On: Painful Memories

It's a super story... so glad you didn't let your doubting Thomas voice win!

The only anomaly though is why Brian would be kept in the dark about Dale's death... Surely Sarah would've told her sister what had happened to him?

Author's Response:

Hello, Elizabeth! Just wanted to pop in to say I appreciate all your comments on this story. I had a lot of fun writing it; especially the parts that made Brian feel like an alien in another world - ha!  As for experience, I have visited relatives in Kentucky (was born there, too), but have never really lived on a farm.  Would have liked to, though. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story. Thank you again for all the feedback. I really appreciate that. :)  ~Kim

Ooh gosh that was good... I'm very much enjoying the unfolding drama of arrogant teenage Brian being taken down a peg or two!

Reviewer: Leather Cuff (Signed) · Date: March 18, 2019 05:49 PM · On: Sparring Match

You must have done a tonne of research into running a farm... Either that or maybe you're speaking from firsthand experience? It's wonderfully alive in the writing and the way you describe Brian's reaction to the richness and diversity of farm life is very funny... I can just imagine how visceral it feels for him to be enveloped by all those farm sights and smells, lol

Reviewer: Leather Cuff (Signed) · Date: March 18, 2019 02:43 PM · On: Shoes....Or Pottery Barn??

Poor Justin, all flustered and jealous ... The sexual tension here was described so well! Damn it, I'm supposed to be doing a job application today but instead I can't tear myself away from this!

Reviewer: Leather Cuff (Signed) · Date: March 18, 2019 12:53 PM · On: Udderly Out of His League

That was incredibly hot .. What an encounter! Doubly sexy/hot given the vividly rendered background of baking Kentucky sun and straw bales. I'm enjoying this way more than I should be, Phew..

Mmm a very intriguing set - up. I'm enjoying your writing immensely, Kim... The country scenery is described so vividly and the characters are already imbued with their own life and story rather than just being vehicles for the main action. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Omg I have moved houses and had no internet for a few weeks and then we had outages so I missed chapters. But woohoo I have read three in a row! What a treat 😀 I loved the scenes of love with Brian and Justin saying later not good bye for our boys and the goodbyes to the Taylor's and Walkers I was so tear hi couldn't read lol. I look forward to the next chapter as per usual

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  I've missed you. Welcome back. ;)  I'm happy that you are still following this story, and are enjoying it.  So close now...working on it as I am writing this. I really want to get this story done, so I will keep working on it until it's finished; then I can devote more time to updating my other WIP faster.

Thank you for always being so supportive of my stories.  Sometimes I feel kind of discouraged, and your kind words and consistent support mean a lot.  You've been a reader of mine for so long, and I truly am grateful for that.  ~Kim

Lovely chapter.  I am wondering when Brian will finally decide his future.  I am sure that Justin will be a big help and a big part of it.

Author's Response:

Hi, Dee Dee!  Yes, I don't think anything - even a long distance - will keep these two apart.  The boys' future - and whether they will find a way to stay together - will be resolved before I am done.;)  I will get this updated again very soon. This chapter made me cry happy tears. I just wish Craig would stop hoping for the boys to break up....because I don't think that's likely to happen ;)

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara! Sorry for the late reply; my charger cord malfunctioned on my Surface and I had to get a replacement.   I think Craig is just trying to be cautious with his youngest son. He realizes that the two DO care deeply for each other, but he is still a bit afraid of Justin being hurt. I do think he's come a long way since the beginning of their relationship, and wouldn't do anythiing to stop them.  I also think you are correct; no matter what Craig's prediction, I don't think he's going to be able to separate them, no matter what the distance.;)

I'll be getting this udpated again very soon. Thank you as always for reading, and especially for the feedback, Tamara. Both are very much appreciated. *Hugs* ~Kim

Nice update! Looking forward to "decision time," for Brian and Justin. Can't imagine Brian sitting home on the farm when Justin heads off to school. I'm sure he'll come up with some sort of plan to keep them togther AND take care of his aunt & uncle.

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yeah, I can see Brian wanting to take care of his aunt and uncle, but I really don't see him sitting there on the farm as the 'doting housewife,' so to speak, while Justin is in school. So we'll have to do something about that.;)  Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for the feedback, my friend.  BTW, hope to hear about you attending Photo Op's premiere. I was so happy to see this chapter! It seems ages have passed since you’ve updated this, I miss it so much.

The scene with Justin throwing himself in Brian’s arms was so sweet and touching, you described it in such a beautiful way. The connection between the boys is palpable and rare.

I just thought that it would be awesome to see a movies based on this story. It has such a unique atmosphere, I savor every line of every chapter – it all would look awesome on the screen.

The moment with Will and Sarah broke my heart. Maybe it’s because the nature surrounds them here, but everything feels stronger – love and grief as well. I admire Will for his strength, and every moment he shares with Brian is so special. He is strict and unyielding sometimes, but it’s obvious how much his cares for the boy. I hope Brian feels it.

I understand why Justin is sp hesitant about riding again. He needs some time. I hope his parents won’t push him into something he is not ready for.

Thanks, Kim! It was an amazing update, as always. I look forward to the next one!

Author's Response:

Hi, Katrin! Thank you as always for reading, and especially commenting. Sigh...I know. How I wish I could update faster! But I just posted the next part, so hopefully you will continue to enjoy it.  Each time I think this story is at its end, it keeps going.;)  But I don't want readers to think I'm rushing this just to get it finished. But it is winding down toward its conclusion.  The main issue I will need to address is what happens when the boys are separated. That will be answered before I'm done.

Thanks again for all your support, Katrin! I appreciate that so much.  *Hugs* ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Rachel!  You're very kind to let me know that you are stil enjoying this story. Thank you for letting me know; I greatly appreciate that.  This has been a different sort of story for the boys, but I have really been enjoying writing it. Thank you again for the support; I should be getting this one updated soon. *Hugs* ~Kim

The two reminded me of Romeo and Juliet in the beginning of this chapter.  I loved it.

Happy to see Craig going to work to take some pressure off Justin. Perhaps Justin is no longer feels the need to compete now that his family is no longer dependant on him.

Author's Response:

Hi, Sandra! Sorry it has taken me a few days to respond to your review. My additional hours at work are really affecting my response time.  I like your analogy to Romeo and Juliet. :) And yes, the dynamics in the family are definitely changing, and will continue to change,  as will the boys' relationship. Thank you for continuing to read and review this story, Sandra. I'm delighted that you are still enjoying it. 😊  *Hugs *Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading, and for the comments, Trish!  Justin's hesitation will be addressed more in the next chapter. I think a certain brunet may be able to help him just a bit.;)  I'll have the next part up as soon as I can. Thanks again for the support. *Hugs* ~Kim

I'm so in love with this story... The scene between Sarah and Will was so beautiful. I love that Sarah is defending Brian and that Will let the boys spend some time together. And Justin had so much to deal with, it's not surprising he's holding back... Again, anxiously waiting for the next part even if I'm not looking forward to let this story go... Thank you for another wonderful chapter :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  It means a lot to me that you have been enjoying this story so much. Thank you for letting me know that.  The scene with Will and Sarah was bittersweet, but I had been wanting to write a scene with them at Dale's grave for some time.  I felt like this was the right time for Will to come to grips more with his son's death.

Thank you for reading, and for the support.  Both are greatly appreciated. *Hugs*  ~Kim

What a lovely chapter.  The love between our boys is so special.   Will and Sarah's sadness brought tears to my eyes.  I can't imagine loosing a child.   What is Justin going to do.  Will Brian ride for him?

Dee Dee

Author's Response:

Hi, Dee Dee - always a delight to hear from you, my friend.;)  Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for leaving your thoughts.  I will be further addressing Justin's 'stage fright/PTSD' in the next chapter, as well as moving the story forward a little more toward its pendng conclusion. Thank you again for always being so supportive. *Hugs*  ~Kim

So great - another chapter. My heart broke for Will and Sarah - I can't imagine outliving your child, let alone trying to come to terms with it. Jared really needs a boot up his arse. Hopefully Justin's fears will dissipate as he continues to practice - Vic is right - Justin's heart may not be in it anymore but he'll want to go out 'with a bang'. What better way to show those who wanted to hurt him he won't be beaten down.

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for the feedback, Monica!  Yes, it was hard to write the scene with Sarah & Will. It is a bittersweet day for them on Dale's birthday. But I do think Will is in a better place emotionally now, partly due to Brian helping to ease his grief just a bit.  And good point about wanting to show others that Justin is not afraid of what happened to him.  I will be further addressing his fear in the next part.  I'm probaby envisioning maybe 3, 4 more chapters to this before it's done. Thank you for all the support! I greatly appreciate that. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Thank you for reading this story, and especially for taking the time to leave feedback; I greatly appreciate that.;)  I have enjoyed writing B and J in this environment, which is so different than where they would be typically.  I will kind of miss that farm.;)  I see maybe 2 - 4 more chapters before it's concluded. Hi, Melinda!  Yes, it was rather sad. But at least they know what happened now, and they have Brian.;)  I'm glad that you have been enjoying this story, and look forward to the updates.;p)   I do have a bit more to tell - perhaps 2, 3 chapters? - before it's said and done. OH poor Justin he has all the pressure to help out the family and now he has some PTSD from the recent events. However I love the interaction with between the boys.

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  Thank you for your support, and for the feedback!  I could just see the two boys over in the apple orchard, flirting with each other.;) And Brian's uncle is finally coming around to accepting them together.  Unfortunately, they may very well be separated come next fall.  And Jared needs to get a job - ha!  I do think he's finally turned a corner in his behavior, though, after their brush with death, but old habits due hard as they say.  It will take a little more time before he loses all the arrogance and conceit, but he IS getting better, and I do think that was a wake up call.

Thanks again for reading, and especially taking the time to comment, Chris! I truly appreciate all the support you give me, and have always given me. *Hugs* ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Ersilia! That means so much to me, that you would do that, even though you're waiting to read it. Thank you!  It IS getting very close to completion; I would say perhaps a couple more chapters?  So I do hope once I get it done that you will enjoy it. I have certainly enjoyed writing about them in this setting that is so atypical for where Brian would normally be.;)  Thank you for taking the time to indicate your support. That is deeply appreciated.  And don't worry; like all my other stories, this one WILL be completed. I know only too well how it is to get so caught up in a story, only to discover to my great disappointment that it is - and never will be - completed. :(  One of my pet peeves as well as a reader, so I totally understand you waiting. :)

I'm just going to say a simple I love this story...I hope it doesn't end anytime soon.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Tamara!  It makes me happier than you know to hear you say you are enjoying it.  I probably have a couple more chapters before it's put to bed, so to speak.  I have really enjoyed writing in this 'verse that is so different than Brian's normal environment, but I think it's time to end it soon. The interest in it seems to be waning for whatever reason - perhaps because Dale's death has been resolved, perhaps due to all the amazing stories on here right now - but for whatever reason, I think it's time, and the story plot is winding down. That said, though, I DO have some issues still to address, and with my penchant for being wordy, I may need more than two chapters. ;)

Thanks again for all the support you give me and so many other writers on this site. Without readers - and writers, such as you - I think the large majority of us would still be motivated to keep these boys alive.  *Hugs* ~Kim

Hi Kim.

LOL, “you win some…you lose some” that is so true in any sport, you can’t win them all, no matter how much you want to.

I’m really glad Brian’s Aunt and Uncle are going to let Brian keep driving although I can definitely understand their reasons for fearing for his safety. I’m wondering (hoping ) if Brian and Justin will eventually be able to race together.

Great chapter, looking forward to more too :  ) *Hugs* Janet

The playful banter between Brian and Justin is so heartwarming – I love seeing them so carefree and happy for once. Like normal teenagers who found love, without dark and dangerous secrets haunting them.

William and Sarah’s relationship is so sweet, loving and – I don’t know, comfortable, that I can’t get enough of them. They’re a good example, the show that love can live for a very long time. Only now I realized how incredible it is that they didn’t break up over the death of their son. A lot of people can’t stay together after this kind of tragedy, it breaks them, destroys their relationship. But Will and Sarah demonstrated that staying together and loving each other through everything is possible. I love them, you created an amazing couple. I love how devoted and protective of Brian they are. Their conversation together was so touching… finally Brian has found his real family, the one that cares about him.

Thank you, Kim, for another captivating, beautiful chapter. I look forward to the next one!

Hi, my friend - sorry for the late response; it has been so busy for me lately.  I'm sorry to hear that you will likely be losing Brian to another hospital, but I can understand him wanting to do what is best for him.  Sounds like Lee is doing well; I am very happy to hear that.  He is such a sweet man.  And you sound like such a compassionate, caring friend. He is lucky to have you in his life.;)

I am slowly heading toward the conclusion of this story, as well as Lee's favorite.  Don't know how long it will take, but I'm going to try and show some restraint before I start another one, and at least have a good amount of it written before I post it. In the meantime, it's good to know there are a lot of other talented writers on here to keep everyone interested.  Thanks again for all the support, lindc! Hope you have a good weekend, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

hi Kim:  I loved it of course!  You know it's my absolute fav fanfic!!!  Can't wait to see where the story ultimately goes!

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend!  I'm so glad that you are still enjoying this story!:)  I probably have a few more chapters to go before it's done, including what happens to our boys once Justin goes off to college.;)

Thank you not only for reading, but also leaving some feedback; I appreciate that so much.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Looking forward to seeing you again next year, too!  :)

Hi Kim!

As always, it's great to read an update to this story. And, as with your other stories, it's always bittersweet knowing the last chapters are nearing. I know you will wrap this up in great style, with our boys having a beautiful future ahead of them, but it's always hard to say goodbye to them even in a fanfic platform. I know this only too well!

This was a fabulous chapter, my friend. There has been so much character development throughout, and your constant attention to detail never ceases to amaze me. I'm afraid I can't discipline myself to keep that up in my own projects. I might start out doing so... but, then I either get lazy or RL just throws too many curves. :)

Hang in there. I know how discouraging it is when the feedback isn't so forthcoming. I'm trying to keep going myself. Thank you for the update, and looking forward to more. *Hugss* Janet

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet - glad to have you back from your trip.;)  I really appreciate you taking the time to leave me your thoughts, and for the encouragement.  We both know what you mean about feedback.  Hard to keep going sometimes, and it starts to make you question yourself, at least as far as my writing goes.  I start to think, is it any good anymore?  But like you, I will never leave a story unfinished, and I care about this one, as well as my other one, so I will forge on until the end.;)

I'm still playing catchup on stories my self, but should be heading over to Bound by Fate shortly.;p)  Thanks again for all the support. *Hugs* back ~Kim

ah my friend - I was so excited to get home from work and find a new chapter of this story I almost missed...lol...I couldn't have been more wrong when I originally thought it might not be one I would enjoy!

every chapter just keeps getting better and better - I love this head over heels Brian and the relationships he is forging - and I am still looking anxiously ahead to see how the last few twists are resolved -  you are certainly the master of them

thanks for the chapter - with all you have on your plate - it is even more appreciated!

loving life,

Charle

Author's Response:

Hi, Charle! (waves hand). I'm always so thrilled to see you on here, and especially reading one of mine. Thank you for your thoughts, my friend. I'm glad you decided to give this story a try, and that you have been enjoying it.  And yes, I do have a few more issues to resolve before it's finished; the unanswered questions will be handled before it's complete.

Thanks again for reading, and especially for the feedback! It is greatly appreciated.  Hope I might see you in Toronto, too, next June at the con.;)  *Hugs* ~Kim

Another great chapter Kim. In a way, it makes me sad because we're coming closer to the end, but this is such a beautiful storytelling :) eager for your next chapter, as always. Just love this story :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend - thank you for taking the time to read this latest chapter. Yes, it's bittersweet to come to a story's end as I'm sure you know. But you also derive a certain satisfaction out of it, and hopefully those that have been waiting for its completion will give it a try and like what they read (and will let me know).;p)

Thanks for the encouragement! *Hugs* ~Kim

You do not need to ologise for the time between chapters of your flics we are blessed to be the recipients of your writing skills.
It looks like Brian has really found his true family and Will and Sarah are coming to a place of peace with Dale

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  Thank you for your kind words.  To be honest, if it weren't for the few who leave comments and for my vow to never leave a story unfinished, I might not even post anymore. It gets very discouraging at times when there is little feedback. Your words of support really help, then.  Thank you so much. I will probably have two, maybe three more chapters to go before it is all done.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

So wonderful to see another chapter on this and to find that Brian's uncle and aunt are going to back him in his need to race.

Author's Response:

You are so wonderful about reviewing so many writers' stories; as one of the admins, I'd like to give you a special thank you for that  I probably have a few more chapters to go before this is over, but I'm happy that you were looking forward to another update.  Thanks again for always being so supportive of me, and so many other writers on here.  *Hugs* ~Kim

Lovely chapter Kim. Will and Sarah finding out wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm glad they are supportive of Brian's training. Nice to see Brian and Justin just being silly together after all the drama they to laugh! As I've said i dread the ending of this story but do so look forward to more. I don't mind the wait for updates they are always worth it my friend.

Well done!!

:)

Author's Response:

Hi, Susan! Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for taking the time to comment.  I think both Brian and his aunt and uncle have changed throughout Brian's visit there.  I'm glad that you are still enjoying this story.  I would guess two, perhaps three more chapters, depending upon length?  I am writing some more new ones behind the scenes, but don't think I will post them unless they are either completely done or close to it. I worry too much about getting them updated, so I think that would be best.

Thank you again for the support, Susan. It is much appreciated *Hugs*  ~Kim

I've already read this chapter twice so I must apologize for reviewing so late. I have be searching for days for a good romance on TV and in published fiction and couldn't find any. And then DUH, your name popped in my head as well as a few other QAF writers. I spent any free time I had today reading The Parent Trap since I wanted a completed story.

Now back to my current favorite, you did a spectacular job of portraying just how much Brian loves Justin by how he shot out of the house after hearing the gunshot. I thought it was beautiful how concerned and protective he was. I was also in awe of how well Craig loved his boys and how he was the hero this time instead of the villain he normally is in pics. You also  made all the main characters realistic and likeable. I could about this bucolic place and people for years to come.

Author's Response:

Hello, Sandra! Always good to hear from you.;)  I'm glad you liked this latest chapter. I imagine everyone probably expected Brian to be Justin's savior, but I thought Craig would actually be a better choice here.  I want to reunite the two brothers eventually, and this seemed like a good start in that direction.

Even though Dale's death has mainly been resolved now, I still have a few more issues to be concluded before I'm done with this story, so I hope you will continue to enjoy it and read when you can. Thanks as always for your support! That means so much to me. *Hugs* ~Kim

I love your fic! And it's so well written <3

I can't wait to read the next chapter!

But... There is something that bothers me. Justin, after yeeeeaaaars of training, loses against Brian? Whereas it's his first "real contact" with a horse? Err.... It' a little easy, isn't it? I mean... It's not possible... Well, at least, it's what I think.

Anyway! Update soon, please!

Author's Response:

Hi, there! Thank you for reading this story, and for your kind comments; I truly appreciate you leaving your thoughts after reading this latest chapter, and I am happy that you are enjoying this story.

I see your point about Brian. You may be right. But the way I looked at it, Justin is still recovering somewhat from his fall, which would put him at a slight disadvantage, and in a lot of cases the horse's speed could be the determining factor. Dale used to race True Blue and win with him; so while Brian certainly doesn't have the same training at all as Justin or Dale, I think if the horse was bonded to him strongly enough, and wanted to race again fervently enough, with Brian's raw talent and love of speed, it might be possible for him to triumph this time over Justin.

Would he be able to do that in a fair race with a fully-recovered Justin?  Likely not, and I will be exploring that a little coming up, although they would never race against each other officially, since Justin would be in a more advanced class of drivers.  Hopefully that explanation is a plausible one.;)

At any rate, I hope it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the story, and I greatly appreciate you leaving me your thoughts. I hope you continue to enjoy the story, and promise to update this just as soon as I can. Thanks again for the support.  ~Kim

Craig is officially my hero here! I only wish he was more like that in canon. He adores his sons, he’s so protective and loving. Like Brian :) And Jennifer is a perfect mother. This was an amazing chapter, I enjoyed it very much. Brian and Justin clearly don’t intend to let each other go. I sense we’re near the end of this eventful journey?

Author's Response:

Hi, again, Katrin!  Yeah, Craig is a much nicer guy in this universe.;)  And the brothers can finally start to reconcile, even though I think there will always be a sense of competition there. But we all know where Brian's heart lies now.;)

As for the story, I still have a few more things to wrap up, so maybe 4, 5 more chapters? I still have some issues to settle, like Brian's wish to race, his aunt and uncle's reaction to that, as well as what will become of the two farms and the two boys.  I'm so glad you're still enjoying the story!  Thank you for all the feedback and the support, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi, Kim! I recently came back from my vacation and I was excited to see two new chapters of this amazing story!

I have forgiven Jared completely. Brian still hasn’t, though, it’s obvious he still senses some danger from him. His feelings for Justin has made him overprotective – that’s so sweet, I love moments like that. I love that he feels the need to be wary of Jared.

I love how Craig handled the situation, it’s clear he still loves his son a lot, even if he is angry  at him.

Wow… I didn’t see it coming, or I don’t remember something. The ending of the chapter is incredibly intense! Thank God there is another chapter waiting for me already, or I’d die from frustration. Great chapter, Kim.

Author's Response:

Hi, Katrin! First of all, welcome back! I hope you have a wonderful vacation. :)  As always, I'm grateful to you for reading and reviewing, my friend, and I'm happy you liked this chapter.  The ending was pretty intense, but at least I think the boys are finally going to be able to put all this behind them, and concentrate on other matters now.

Thank you again for always being so thoughtful about leaving feedback, Katrin.  I appreciate that so much. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Yep.  I'm very much hooked.  I'm not sure why everyone is worried about Justin going to college though... Brian can just follow him... or maybe go to college himself.  I bet Brian's never thought of himself as a college boy.  ;-)  Thanks for read.  Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Hi, Frances! You are so kind to read and review; thank you for doing that.  Only by knowing if others are enjoying what I write am I able to gauge interest, and it is very motivating to me.;)

I'm very happy that you are enjoying this, and yes, while Justin has another year yet before he would head off to college, I think both of these very-much-in-love young men can surely find a way to make their relationship work.  That will be one of the things I will be exploring in the rest of the story, along with the brothers' relationship, Emmett, Brian's racing hobby, etc.

I will get this updated again just as soon as I can. Thank you again for all the support!  *Hugs* ~Kim

Way to go Craig! For some reason I was expecting Brian to be at the other end of the shotgun... and I wasn't entirely sure how he would handle that.

Happy to see Jared & Justin patching things up, and glad Jared is once again back in the family fold.

Great update.

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish! Well, I thought about Brian being the lifesaver, but I thought in this case it was more important to establish Craig's love for his sons, and for the two brothers to bond, so he seemed like the best choice for it.  Glad that you are still enjoying this story! Dale's death and the circumstances surrounding it hasve essentially been resolved, but I still have some issues to settle yet.

Thanks again for the support, Trish! Looking forward to seeing you again soon. *Hugs* ~Kim

Hi Kim,

Good going Craig! It’s a good thing that gun was under the bed. I love how Brian is with Justin in this, so attentive and very protective. I have to wonder though how they’re going to deal with the separation when Justin goes to college or maybe Brian will go with him?

Loved this chapter, Kim, as always :  ) looking forward to the next one and congrats on getting over 500 reviews! *Hugs* Janet

Sry am late sprained my hand lifting supplies--stupid. Am in a soft cast for two more weeks. Have to type with one hand-not too hard. Such a good chapter-so much happening-brothers back together and the bad guy dead. It will be interesting to see where you take us next-still a lot to be resolved. Lee is hoping up next is his story-such a dedicated waiter Ha! lol

Author's Response:

OMG, Lindc!  So sorry to hear about your sprain! I think a see a worker's comp claim on the horizon (sorry, can't help it; used to work for an attorney that handled those - ha!).  I hope your hand heals quickly.  Considering you are typing with one hand, I REALLY have to thank you for taking the time to leave your comments.  They are greatly appreciated as always.  I do still have quite a bit to answer in this story, so I see it proceeding a least for a while yet. I AM working on a new Tricky story, though, and hope to have that up soon.

Thank you for this chapter. Craig to the rescue....I love it. I've notice that a lot of readers (including me) are woried about Justin going to college . But shurely Brian has to continue his education too so it doesn't meen they have to separate at all.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Hello, Mariana! Thank you for continuing to read this story, and for your feedback; that really helps me to stay motivated.;)

As for the story, Justin actually has one more year of high school to go until he leaves for college, so now that Brian is staying with his aunt and uncle, that hopefully gives them time to arrive at a solution to their dillemma; Brian will be torn between wanting Justin to pursue his dream, and wanting him to stay there, so a mutually agreeable decision will need to be made.  In the meantime, I have some other issues to resolve, so I see the story continuing for a while yet.

I do hope you continue to enjoy it, Mariana! Thanks again for the support, and for the feedback; it is greatly appreciated. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! As always, I'm grateful to you for reading, and especially for the comments; thank you.;)  I think I surprised quite a few readers with Craig's intervention; I thought it was fitting in this case, and hopefully now the brothers will be on better terms, since Jared at least partially redeemed himself.;)

There's still quite a bit to go yet before I plan on finishing this story; I do hope you continue to enjoy it. Thank you again for reading and commenting; it is greatly appreciated.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Oh my good for Craig stepping up like that in defense of both of his sons. Glad that creep is gone and that Will and Sarah have a little more closure. Not at all surprised Brian got to Justin as quick as he could. Happy Justin and Jared shared a moment I do hope their relationship improves now. Happy Brian and Justin got a few moments alone I am curious as what will happen now with them. I do hope the end of this isn't as close as I think it is now. Can't wait for more as always Kim!!

Well done!!

:)

Author's Response:

Hi, Susan! I'm so happy you're still enjoying this story. I don't think most readers would have thought of Craig being the protector, but I thought it was fitting in this case.  And yes, I do see things improving between the two brothers.

I think a lot of readers are curious as to what will become of B & J, but Justin actually has one more year of high school before they will need to part; hopefully, a certain brunet can work on a solution to their dilemma in the meantime.

I have a lot more to cover yet before this is all said and done; the resolution of Dale's death is but one part of it. I do hope you continue to enjoy it, Susan! Thanks again for all the support. Hope things are well for you at home.;) *Hugs* ~Kim

Now I can breathe again...thank goodness Craig had the presence of mind to act quickly to save his boys. It's also good to see the brothers are trying to mend their relationship. I just hope Brian and Justin can find a way to stay together with Justin’s upcoming departure.

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara!  Now you knew that I wouldn't let something terrible happen to our boys.;) Although, I do love a good hurt/comfort fic, as long as it's temporary.;)  I thought it was important to reestablish Craig's role in his boys' lives, too, and to help bring them back together.

As for college, Justin actually has one more year to go, since he's still a junior. But that issue WILL be addressed coming up before the story's concluded.  In the meantime, I still have some other topics I would like to cover.

Thanks again for always being as supportive as you are, Tamara. It means more to me than you know, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim,

Whew, you certainly know how to leave a person hanging, don’t you?, haha.

I really feel for Will and Sarah in this, the whole story so far actually, hopefully they will have some closure soon. I love Brian’s protectiveness towards Justin, and Justin’s Spock imitation was great; I used to watch “Star Trek” all the time.

Awww, Brian finally told Justin those three magic words, it’s about time! Haha.  Great chapter and now I’m chewing on my fingernails here waiting to see/read what happens next. *Hugs * Janet

Oh, BTW mine will be up in a few minutes   ;  )

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet! Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for your feedback, my friend.;  Yes, Will and Sarah have had a difficult time over the past few months; not to mention the time when Dale was killed. I think Will, especially, was traumatized by it, but he is slowly coming to terms with it, thanks in part to both Sarah and to Brian.  I will be soon resolving this arc in the story, though, and they WILL find a certain amount of closure and comfort before that part is done.

I still have quite a bit more to tell regarding Justin and Brian, as well as Justin's relationship with his brother, and what becomes of the boys in the future.

Thank you again for all the support, Janet. I will be explaining pretty quickly who shot whom in the next part, and will get it updated just as soon as I can. *Hugs*  ~Kim

I am soo excited as Adam's cd is out Tuesday. So nice to see he is on your twitter. He is the bomb. I have watched him since Idol 6 years ago. That was just before I started reading your stories. So much fun watching your development as a writer (FIERCE) and his progression as the best singer in the world. Sorry but you both are my favs in the world. Off to bed after after 18 hour shift. lol

Author's Response:

Hi, lindc!  I'm always looking forward to your comments; you realize that I'm spoiled now, right? If you ever stop I think I'd be heartbroken (I know, laying a guilt trip on you now - I'm shameful!).  Thank you for your consistent support; that seems insufficient in light of all the encouragement you've given me, but I want you to know how much I appreciate it.  Sometimes it can be discouraging when comments are sparse, so that really helps.

Yes, the QAF panel at ATX was fabulous!  Not to mention, since Thea & Michelle couldn't come, they rearranged the seating, and Randy and Gale wound up sitting next to each other.;)  Great for photos.;) And they all seemed to have a wonderful time being together again.  Peter was a riot!!  He was on a roll, not only there, but also in the other panel I saw, especially when he got up right in the middle of it to go to the bathroom!  LOL!  I will have a 2nd part about the panel on my LJ soon.

Incidentlally, I almost completely deleted my LJ the other day, but rethought it after a few days and reinstated it (you have 30 days after it's 'deleted' to change your mind).  Long story, but for now I'm going to leave it up.

Thanks again, dear friend. Please tell everyone I said hello, and thank them for their support.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Omg Kim.....I don’t know what else to say. I hope everyone is alright.

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara - I thank you for reading this chapter anyway.  I hope you enjoyed parts of it at least.  Since I don't have a major character death warning, I think you know that I won't let anyting permanent happen to either one of the boys.;)  If you stay with the story, you will discover what happened pretty quickly in the next part. I'll get it updated just as soon as I can. Thanks again for reading, and for your feedback.  ~Kim

OOOhhhh.  Nice dramatic end to this chapter.  I hope everyone is all right (including the dog.)  Very interesting and I can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

Hi, dear friend - I so appreciate you reading and reviewing; it's very encouraging to me to hear what others think, and I'm glad you're still finding this story interesting.  And I know; very evil cliffhanger! But I'll explain it quickly once I get the next part updated. Thank you again for all the support, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

I wasn't surprised at Justin's willingness to make peace with Jared.  It's in his nature.  Even more so was his unwillingness to let McComb kill his brother.  Surely the dog will be of help.

Author's Response:

Hi, there! I appreciate you reading and especially taking the time to comment; thank you for the feedback.  Yes, I think despite all that's happened, the two brothers still love each other. Jared does realize now, I think, that he didn't really stand a chance with Brian.  As for Solomon, the dog DID come in handy.;)

I'll explain pretty quickly in the next chapter what's going on, and will get it updated just as soon as I can. Thank you again for the support. *Hugs*  ~Kim

I so love this chapter Kim! So well written, as always. I'm glad that Jared wants to do the right thing and Brian is...dare I say cute when he wants to protect Justin ;) But OMG you can't leave us here lol. I want to know that Justin and Jared will be allright. Mac comb has to be arrested or worst, I don't care, as long as the boys are allright. Great chapter, thank you!

NB: the last paragraph is edited twice, you might want to correct it ;)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! First of all, thanks for the heads up about the formatting problem; I think it's fixed now, but if you still see anything that's off, please let me know.  I slightly edited the last part with McComb, and forgot to delete the original part, so it was a mess at first! But I think it's been fixed.

Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for your comments.;)  I know, horrible cliffhanger! But you will find out pretty quickly what happened in the next part, I promise.  I still have quite a ways to go on this one yet, so I hope you will continue to enjoy it.;p)

BTW, I will be getting to what you sent me soon. I may need to finish my LJ posting about the ATX Festival first, but it will be either today or tomorrow.  Thanks again for the support.  The stories are here are being updated so fast and furious that I think sometimes people don't even realize when I update, so I'm glad you noticed! *Hugs*  ~Kim

Omg wow cliffhanger Kim! Lol I really enjoy all your stories because they not only have our boys front and centre but you wrap them up in intrigue and drama. Every story is a different AU story brilliantly written xx

Author's Response:

Hi, Chris!  I know, nasty cliffhanger here. But you will know pretty quickly in the next chapter what's going on, and who shot whom, I promise.  After that, things will be concentrating more on what happens with B and J in the future before it's all eventually wrapped up.  And thank you for reading and for your very kind remarks - and for your encouragement over at LJ as well.  I appreciate that so much.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

I somehow just KNEW McComb was going to make an appearance sooner rather than later. Very glad Jared & Justin are on their way to resolving their problems.

Nice update!

Author's Response:

Hi, Trish!  Yeah, it's not over...yet. But that part of the story arc will be done soon. I still have a bit more to tell here that will focus more on B and J now. But I'm glad you're still reading and enjoying this story. Thank you for the feedback.  And missed you at Austin! Hope I'll see you in Toronto.;)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim! So nice to see an update to this story. I've been thinking about it. :)

Great chapter. What an exciting turn of events. I was worried after each sentence, even though I know you would never let anything happen to our precious blond. :) I applaud you too, for the cliffhanger, whether everyone else does or not. You know I have a bit of a penchant for those! Haha. It was very well done, as has this story throughout. Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Thanks for the update, my friend. *Hugss*

Hi, Kim! I was ecstatic to see the update from you – I love this story dearly.

I loved Brian and Justin’s playful banter – they are so at ease with each other. And of course I love how passionate Brian is when it comes to his blond boy – he can barely keep his hands off him.

Wow, Brian riding the horse! I think it’s the first time in this story? It was amazing, I could almost see him! I love all those little incredible moments of their farm-life. Nature, wind, golden sun, laughter, horses… I wish I were there with them!

Brian was so clearly excited – I loved it. He needed some distraction after that disastrous meeting with his so called parents.

The ending was shocking – why did you have to stop there? I look forward to seeing what Jared has to say. And how he will react to seeing Brian and Justin so very obviously in love.

Thank you so much, Kim! It was such a relaxing, light, pleasant chapter – I deeply enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the next part of it! Thank you!

Author's Response:

Hi, Katrin! First of all, let me apologize for overlooking your review; it wasn't intentional. Sorry about that!  I always make sure I answer reviews, because I feel if someone takes the time to leave me feedback, I have a responsibility to let them know how much it's appreciated, so thank you.

As for the story, yes, there is a lot more to tell here.  And if you think THIS ending was shocking, it will be tame compared to the next one! (Ducking under desk..).  But I am so glad you are enjoying this. And I think once we get past the next chapter, things will be taking a lighter turn for the most part, although Brian still has to find a way to let his aunt and uncle know what he's doing (unless they find out first!).

Thank you once more for always being so diligent in reviewing, and for the encouragement.  *Hugs* ~Kim

Great chapter, my dear! A lot of excitement in the horse track. I felt like I was there watching it while it was happening. His writing is amazing and so engaging that always get lost in the images you create.
I'm worried about the arrival of Jared and what that will mean for the boys.
A big hug, my friend! Fatima.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Fatima.  I'm glad you enjoyed it. Jared's presence will be explained in the next chapter, which I am working on now. Thank you for reading and for the comments, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim! I'm in love with your story. The way you describe everything in this chapter is so good, so well-written. I love the connection between the boys and the way you describe what Brian must feel on the racetrack. And moreover, I can't wait to read about Jared's visit. Thank you again for this wonderful story :)

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend - thank you for reading this latest chapter, and especially for taking the time to comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Yeah, Jared, I'm sure, was a surprise to them; I'll be going into more detail in the next chapter about his reason for being there.

Author's Response:

Hi, Fran! LOL - I know; poor, frustrated Brian - ha!  Don't worry; I'm sure Justin will more than take care of him.;)  Thank you for letting me know that you are reading and enjoying this story; it is only through readers such as yourself who leave feedback that I know someone IS reading and that they enjoy what I write; that is so motivating to me.

I hope you continue to enjoy it; more drama yet to come before it's all over.  I'll get this updated again soon.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

wonderful chapter--you go Brian. I knew this would happen. Hopefully he will win a big race for good money and give to aunt and uncle. No telling where that could lead, Now what does Jared want ???? Interesting!!! We are all well. Lee is off on his wild vacation HA!!! We will be waiting for stories and pictures yum!!! Hope you are ok and survived Mom's day. Dad's day will probably be harder for your family. Peace and love during that day. lol

Author's Response:

Hi, Lindc! So good to hear from you.;)  Yeah, Brian's feeling just a bit smug at the moment, but some of it could have just been some temporary serendipity.;)  And he hasn't encountered his aunt and uncle's reaction to what he's doing just yet. I will be exploring that in the upcoming chapter, along with Jared's purpose for being there.

Mother's day wasn't too bad; next month will be, though. Not only do we have Father's Day, but also what would have been my mom and dad's 61st anniversary on 6/6.  That will be hard, but we'll just take it one day at a time. It will be difficult to have my first Father's Day without him here.  I still miss him terribly.

Thank you for all the support, Lindc; I'm glad you and the others are still following my stories. The reviews are way down on this chapter, which can be disheartening, so your encouragement is much appreciated. *Hugs*  ~Kim

I hope Craig didn't tell Jared (or anyone else) about Brian inheritance.

That could be dangerous for Brian.

Author's Response:

Hi, Mariana! Thank you so much for the comments, and for reading; I really appreciate that.  I'm happy you enjoyed this chapter, and I CAN say that Craig has not told Jared about the inheritance.  I will be explaining Jared's purpose for being there in the next chapter, and I'll get it updated just as soon as I can. Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! I have never seen a harness race in person, but have seen a regular horse race.  I was always fascinated with the trotting horse, though; ever since I saw an old movie from the 50's.  I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Author's Response:

Ha!  That sounded like Brian was a dog.;)  I don't think he will be that successful all the time; he may feel a big connection with True Blue, but that may have been a fluke; after all, Justin is the expert on this.

Jared may be putting a crimp in their plans, too; at least temporarily.  I'll be updating this as soon as I can. Thank you for reading, and for the comments, my friend.  BTW, received your email; will be sending a response either tonight or tomorrow.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Ah ha, the dreaded cliffy at the end, LOL. Another great chapter, Kim, Justin’s embarrassment at being caught ogling Brian’s bare chest at the beginning gave me a good chuckle, I really like the way these two interact in this story. Brian is really in his element on the track and I love the bond that he and True Blue are forming, I’m assuming they will eventually be on an actual race track competing against other horses and drivers,  it will be exciting to see what these two can do.

Hugs ~*~ Janet

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet - yeah, I know; bad girl!  But it was a good stopping point, and I will be explaining more about the reason for his presence in the next chapter. Let's just say that trouble seems to follow Jared wherever he goes!  This will be no exception.

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet! Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and for your thoughts, my friend.  I will be explaining why Jared it there in the next chapter; let's hope he's not bringing trouble with him.  More drama is coming up, though, for the boys.

Wonderfully written.  I felt like I was on the track.  Something tells me that once Brian gets on the race track there will be no stopping him.  Do you suppose that Jared and Emmett could get together?

Author's Response:

Hello, my friend. Interesting concept!  Not sure if Emmett will stick around for that possibility, but who knows? Things are always dynamic in this particular story, and things could change in the future.

I will be explaining Jared's presence in the next chapter.  More drama coming! Thank you so much fo reading, and especially commenting; I truly appreciate that. *Hugs* ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara! Well, I don't have enough words to tell you how much I appreciate you reading and taking the time to review.;)

I guess it's human nature that stories always start out with a lot of reviews, and then diminish greatly over time. This one seems to be doing that, unfortunately, and it does get disheartening at times. So I am very grateful to you for your comments, and pleased that you are still liking this story.  I promise to get this updated just as soon as I can.

Wow!! Money and maybe racing???? Ii knew it would all come to fuition.. Good chapter, lots happening. lol

Author's Response:

Hi, lindc! Well, Brian's new-found wealth is certainly going to change up things.  It remains to be seen what Brian winds up doing with it - AND what Justin's idea is.  I will be talking more about that coming up in the next chapter.  Not done with all the drama, though!

I think the next story will be lighter in nature. Torn between another Tricky story, and a different one.  I don't think I will start posting, though, until I'm at least done with one of my two WIPs presently.  "My Heart's Desire" is probably closer to completion than this one, but you know how wordy I get!

Hi, Kim! Oh, how I missed this story – each update is like a wonderful present. I miss these boys.

The storyline with Brian’s uncle is so touching… it’s sad that he didn’t stay in touch, probably he would have affected Brian in a good way. On the other hand – Brian probably wouldn’t have gotten himself into troubles and he and Justin wouldn’t have met. Still, it’s sad – it sounds like Brian’s uncle truly loved and appreciated him.

That much money means Brian now is free to do practically whatever he wants. Maybe it’s a chance he and Justin have been waiting for? Maybe they wouldn’t have to say good-bye, even temporarily?

I loved Sarah and Will’s conversation – yes, Brian has changed, and the life here along with his golden-haired boyfriend helped him.

I *loved* how unsure and hesitant Justin still was, and how Brian did everything he could to soothe his fears and doubts. That was a sweet, lovely moment.

Thank you for amazing, a little sad but wonderful chapter, Kim! By the way, I’ve been eyeing ‘Two lips’ for a while now – I can’t wait to read it! My family had problems so I’m way behind my reading/reviewing list. I haven’t even started ‘The Wedding Present’ yet! Fortunately now everything’s fine again so I’ll be able to remedy that.

Again – thank you!

I have a feeling that what Justin is about to suggest will help corral the men who are responsible for Dale's death.  This chapter was chock full of wonderful stuff.  Brian learning that his uncle really cared was the best gift.  Having Craig put aside his feelings about needing money to help Brian instead was great.  Brian's aunt and uncle have made a big difference to Brian.  Looking forward to future chapters!!!

Another wonderful chapter, my friend!

I like how you are forwarding the story.

I enjoyed seeing Doug assuming its responsibilities.

Brian trying to keep his hand from her in his as needed his support, demonstrates the feeling is becoming stronger between the two.

Now, the unexpected wealth of Brian is very tempting and gives you all the possibilities to do what you want. The only thing that holds at that time on the farm is his love for Justin and he decides to stay makes clear the depth of his love for Justin. Wow!

Curious to know what Justin is so excited to show Brian. Some variation of an equestrian sport?

A big hug, my friend. Fátima.

Author's Response:

Hi, dear friend! Sorry about the duplicate chapter, BTW; it has now been fixed.;)  Thank you for reading and for the feedback.  I am happy you enjoyed it.  Brian's inheritance will open up a lot of possibilities as you said; it will be interesting to see what he winds up doing now with the $.

I'll get this updated again just as soon as I can. Thank you again for your kindness and thoughtfulness in leaving your comments.  *Hugs*  ~Ki

P.S.  I have started on the beta work for your story. I hope to have the first part over to you soon.  😊

Hi Kim, Loved this as always :  ) what a shock for Brian to find out he's inherated so much money and what a shock for Justin when True Blue walked up to Brian, haha. LOL, I have a feeling I know what the "totally outlandish and impossible" thing is but I won't give it away  ;  )

BTW, not sure if you realize it or not but the chapter is posted twice. The first part restarts right after Justin mentions the outlandish/ impossible part.

Hugs,

Janet

Author's Response:

Hi, Janet! Ugh.  I was not aware of the repeat part - I fixed it; thanks for the heads up.  Only excuse is having too many projects going on at one time.  BTW, got your email; it's crazy here this month but as soon as I can I'll send an email back. ;)

Thanks for taking the time to read and especially review, dear friend.  As for the guess about the ending...hmm....I probably need to consult you as an expert coming up.;)  Looking forward, speaking of which, for your own updates (hint, hint) and glad to hear they may be imminent.  Thanks again. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Kim I just have to say I love where this is heading...could it be that Justin is about to introduce our beautiful brunet to the joys of horseback riding? Oh this is going to be good ;)

Author's Response:

Hi Tamara!  First of all, sorry about the chapter repeating itself! Not sure what happened but it's been fixed.;)  Thanks for not pointing out that I'm getting senile, though - LOL!  And thank you as always for reading and commenting.  I'm happy that you like the direction of the plot here...and you will find out soon enough in the next chapter if you are right or not.;)

I will get this updated again just as fast as I can. Thanks for all the support, my friend. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Sasha! Thank you for reading, and especially for taking the time to comment! I truly appreciate that, and I'm happy you enjoyed this chapter.;)  I think it's important that Brian have someone to support him, and it just seemed like the right time for the boys to finally profess their love for each other.

I am working on the update to this right now, so I hope to have it posted soon. Thanks again for being so supportive. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim! Great chapter! I love your story. Brian and Justin are so cute together. I hope nothing happens with Justin.Thank you so much for sharing...:) Many greetings, Myriam....:)

Author's Response:

Thank you, my friend, for reading this latest chapter, and especially for taking the time to comment; I really appreciate that more than you know.;)  I still have quite a bit more to tell yet; I appreciate you bearing with me in between updates. I only wish I could post faster like some others, but with RL sadly it is just not possible. Be assured, though, that I am updating just as quickly as I can.

Thank you again for your support, and for the encouragement.  Hope you, Meggi, and I can one day perhaps meet up in NYC to see one of Randy's plays.;)  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim! I finally have some time and I was delighted to see a new update! I love so many things about this chapter, you describe Brian's emotions over his parents' attitude so well 😊 I love the love, if I can say that, between the Walkers and Brian and of course, between the boys. Their scene is so beautiful! Now that Dale is going to talk, I can't wait to read what happens next :) Thank you for this great update and this great story!

Author's Response:

Hello, my friend. I appreciate you reading and commenting on this chapter more than you know; thank you. It helps to keep the discouragement at bay.;)  I am happy you enjoyed this latest update; I thought it was finally time that both boys declare outloud how they felt about each other, too.  You will find out Doug's response to the plea deal in the next chapter.  Thank you again for all the support. *Hugs*  ~Kim

oh what a chapter!!! very rich of events! brian and justin are the greatest couple i have ever seen, you made them so real and great, i love them! after this chapter i felt i want to read everything again, i remember they had an interesting first meeting and brian couldn't choose between two brothers. now he is sure! thank you!!!

Author's Response:

Hi, Nata! You are very thoughtful to read and review this chapter; thank you for bearing with me in between updates.  I am delighted that you enjoyed this latest chapter.  And yes, you are correct; when Brian first arrived, he was torn between both boys, but eventually he realized where his heart truly lay.;)

I do want to apologize for the lapse between updates; this story and my other WIP are constantly on my mind, and they WILL be finished. I wish I could update as fast as some others do, but with RL, the full-time job, and my duties on here it is very difficult to update any faster. But hopefully I can accelerate my schedule now that I only have the two open stories.  I will get this updated again just as soon as I can. Thank you for all the support! It is deeply appreciated. *Hugs* ~Kim

Hi, Kim! I’m so happy you updated this wonderful story – the ending of the last chapter is something I won’t forget any time soon. It was so painful and heartbreaking…

I can’t imagine how Brian feels right now. Will and Sarah showed incredible support and devotion, I nearly cried – it was so emotional. I’m so grateful Brian has them in his life now. Being sent here is the best thing that has even happened to him. I was afraid Will would lose his patience – when Brian is hurt, he can be a real hurtful brat himself, but no, he reacted so decently… he is a real father.

I was even more touched when Brian came to Justin for comfort. He’s more open in his feelings now, he isn’t afraid of admitting he needs his blond boy in his life.

Justin is… he is simply amazing. So supporting and so loving. I was ecstatic when he told Brian the words! FINALLY! And Brian didn’t hide behind the mask right away, he obviously accepts and cherishes Justin and his confession. The moment they shared is everything I ever wanted for them. It was perfect.

I feel sorry for Doug, but I do see his father’s point. He should have told him the truth from the beginning, but he’s let everything go way too far. And now his life is practically ruined! I can’t imagine he has to spend so many years in prison! I’d lose my mind! I’m happy he accepted the deal – and I love how Doug’s dad assured him he still loves him. This is the most important thing right now.

Thank you, Kim, this chapter was incredible! Love story, drama, anguish, remorse, fear, pain, family… everything is in here. I *loved* it tremendously. I’m looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response:

Hi, Katrin!  I'm so happy that you are still following this story, and I appreciate all your lovely comments; feedback means a lot to me as a writer.  Yes, I actually feel sorry, both for Doug and for his father; I think Doug just got in over his head, and didn't know what to do at that point. But what he did was quite serious, and he will unfortunately have to pay the price for his actions.  At last, though, I think the real people behind the two incidents will be brought to justice. Things may not go as smoothly as everyone hopes, though; that is yet to be seen. These are some pretty ruthless people they will be dealing with, and they will have a lot to lose.

As for the boys, yes, I thought it was finally time that they both expressed their deep feelings for each other. They already knew they were in love; but Brian's declaration about not being worthy of being loved was the catalyst to bring it to the forefront.;)

Thank you for reading this chapter, and for all the support you have given me, Katrin; that means the world to me.  Knowing others are enjoying what I write is such a motivation to me. I promise to get this updated just as soon as I can. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Hi Kim! Can't wait to find out where you take this story next. I've enjoyed all your story telling so far but it's lovely when those old WIPs get some air time too 😉😊 Will be finding out next whether Fin will propose or not up next ...? Henri

Author's Response:

Hi, Henri! Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and especially for the feedback; I deeply appreciate that, and I'm very happy that you enjoyed it.  Sigh...I am trying to update my two WIPS just as fast as I can. I am very faithful about finishing every story that I start, so do not worry; they WILL be completed.;) I am envious of those who have the time and luxury of being able to write and post daily, but with RL and a full time job - along with my duties on here - there is just not enough time in the day to do what I would like to do.  I am very sorry for the delay in between; I hope you will bear with me as I work toward completing this story and my other one.  I am trying not to post any new stories right now unless they are finished, even though I have so many new ideas floating around in my head that I would love to write. It is hard to show restraint! But I am trying.;)

As for Fin, yes, "My Heart's Desire" is up next for update, and one of the questions that I have yet to resolve is whether Fin will, indeed, fulfill his partner's most fervent wish and make him a married man.  That, along with Alex's status and the question of a possible baby, will be answered before the story is finished.

Thank you again for the support, Henri. I am very grateful. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Wow!!! lots packed into this chapter. Brian & Justin's time together so sweet They are so good together. Hurray for aunt & uncle for standing up for Brian--love people like that. I still think Brian will be racing True Blue, down the road. I have a sneaking feeling about chapters to come. Ha!

Author's Response:

Hi, lindc!  Hmmm...you may have something there.;)  Only time will tell.;)  I thought it was the right time for the boys to finally profess their love for each other.  I think Brian has found a new family now.;)

Thank you for always reading and for the comments.  I appreciate that so much. Give everyone my love. *Hugs* ~Kim

I love how Brian's uncle expressed his feelings for him.  Eloquent, but simple.  The boys exchanging "I love you"s was very sweet and right for the moment.  Exciting conclusion, too. Let's see how the deal works out.

Author's Response:

Hello, dear friend! I'm happy you liked this chapter. Yes, I thought it was time that the boys admit their true feelings for each other. I thought it was especially appropriate for Justin to say it first, if only to reassure Brian that he IS worthy of being loved.  We're slowly moving toward the home stretch (pardon the pun - ha!), but I still have quite a bit more to write yet. Thanks for all your support. I know I don't update as fast as I and the readers would like, but it is always uppermost in my mind, and it will be finished like all my other stories have been. Thanks for bearing with me until then. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Damn this was a heavy chapter...but everything happening here is necessary for things to get somewhat back to normal. The boys declarations of loving each other was a very good start to the healing process.

Author's Response:

Hi, Tamara - thank you for choosing to stay with me on this story, and for your feedback, my friend. Was beginning to feel a little lonely over here.;)  I thought it was time that the boys express their feelings for each other, especially in light of Brian's turmoil and what his parents had said to him.  There is still quite a bit to tell here before it's all finished. I will update just as fast as I can. Sigh...wish I could update daily like some authors can - or even weekly - but with RL it just isn't possible.  It WILL get done, though, and for those who are sticking with me such as yourself, I truly appreciate the support. Thanks again. *Hugs*  ~Kim

I am so happy that Brian's uncle verbalized what he and his wife felt for Brian.  That's a big step.  Can't wait to find out how Sarah will be helping Brian with his inheritance.  Then there was Dale's horse and how he more or less bonded with Brian.  Loved that.  Justin and Brian admitting they loved each other was just what each needed.

Now we have Doug.  I actually feel sorry for him.  Will he be able to get his life on track?  Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response:

Hi, my friend! You are always so supportive and so consistent with leaving feedback. That is such a motivation to me; thank you for that. I am happy you liked this chapter. I thought it was a good time for the boys to finally admit their feelings for each other, and Brian needed that reassurance from his aunt and uncle that he was someone to be loved and respected.  I will be explaining Sarah's idea coming up about Brian's inheritance.  Unfortunately for Doug, due to the seriousness of his crime, I'm afraid he's pretty much sealed his fate. But hopefully he will get some leniency at his hearing.

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness and your support; it is deeply appreciated. *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Sasha! Thank you for reading this latest chapter, and especially for the feedback; I truly appreciate that. Yes, I thought the boys needed a little loving in this chapter.;)  Brian has been pretty devastated by his parents' greed; now it will be up to his aunt and uncle - and Justin - to show him how much he is loved.  Thank you for leaving feedback, Sasha. I hope you continue to enjoy this story. I will be updating it again very soon. *Hugs*  ~Kim
