Parabéns!

Were did you post the new 2 chapters ?

Hugs, Mariana

Author's Response:

Thank you, Mariana! I am so glad you enjoyed my story and especially the ending. :) As for the sequel, I've only posted two chapters (Promise of Hope) so far, though I am still working on it and don't plan to abandon it completely.

I remember reading this when I first discovered this site. It was one of the first fanfic stories I'd ever read. Your wonderful writing and keen insight into all the characters' minds blew me away back then and it still does today. I'm glad this gets to be the featured story this month so that a whole new group of readers will hopefully get another chance to read it. Thanks for writing. TAG

Author's Response:

Oh, wow, Tag! Thank you for an amazing compliment! I am so incredibly happy that you liked this story the first time you read it and now. It means a lot to me.

The perfect ending!  I'm thinking Keeley had her own story to tell and the future will bring happiness, at least I hope so.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Yum! I am truly happy you liked the ending. As for Keeley, I started a sequel, but have only posted 2 chapters so far, though I do plan to continue and finish the story.I hope you give it a chance one of these days and let me know what you think.

Thank you so much again for reading and commenting!

Author's Response:

Thank you very much, Jean! It means a lot to me that you enjoyed it. I hope you check out a few of my other stories and let me know what you think. Though some of them are WIPs and haven't been updated in a while, I  assure you that I will not abandon them. I absolutely plan to continue and finish them to the best of my ability as soon as RL gets closer to normal.

Again, thank you for reading and for a lovely comment.

Hi there,

I read it for the first and I have to admit, that I loved it. It's so well written and Gus and Sunny are great. But I don't like the end. It's soooo open. I wish you had mentioned Gus and Sunny for at least in one sentence. :) I have no doubt about Brian and Justin, they'll always find a way to be together ;) What's with Gus' dream about the wedding?

*sigh* :)

Author's Response:

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing! I am so glad you liked it, despite the ending. The ending was a bit divisive, with about half the people in the "like" camp and half in the "hate it/too open/too abrupt" camp. Even though I agree with the latter camps' assessment to some degree, it did feel right to me to end the story there, so I did.

Regarding Gus's dream about the wedding. Initially my idea for it was to strengthen Gus's resolve to fix things between Brian, Justin and the family. That's why he brought up his future wedding during his conversation with Brian. I wasn't necessarily trying to foreshadow an actual future wedding between Gus & Sunny, though it can certainly be interpreted as such by the more romantic of us. Enduring first loves are rare in real life, though they do happen. In fact, I have an aunt who married her highschool sweetheart. They were each other's first loves and are still together 30 years later, and are still in love. Personally, the uber romantic that I am, I'd like to think that Gus & Sunny will make it for the long haul and will love each other forever, just like Brian and Justin. But, again, I more or less made it an open ended thing where each reader can decide for themselves whether Gus's dream wedding is a premonition of an actual future or just a dream.

Thank you again for reading and for a wonderful review.

Cheers,

Vin

I remember reading this on FF.net.  LOVED it.  ^.^  I'm not sure if I reviewed over there so I will do so here.  I actually like how open ended your ending was with Brian and Justin.  It lets us imagine their future for ourselves. and I'm sure we're all imagining a bright one.

As much as I hate they've been apart for so long (my heart breaks at all that wasted time) it shows just how strongly they are connected to each other.  That even though all that time still passed the love is still there.

So once again, loved it.  :)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Cupcake! I am very happy that you liked the story and enjoyed the open-ended ending. The ending wasn't a favorite with everyone, so it does warm my heart when someone likes it.

Again, thank you very much!

That was one terrific story.  I have had PC issues for almost

the entire month.  My PC is back and to my joy so is the rest of

this story.

For me, the highlight is when Brian called Debbie to insist on

having the entire family at Sunday dinner.

Sorry, but I don’t agree with the ending, though that is your

choice to end it there, and my right to disagree.  But it is really

not all that important.

What I do agree with is that was one terrific story.

I really really really enjoyed it.

Thanks again,

DavidR

Author's Response:

Dear David,

Please forgive me for a seriously delayed response to your comment. Thank you so very, very much for reading my story to the end and for your thoughtful, insightful and altogether woderful comments! I truly appreciate it.

To respond to your current comment more specifically, the Sunday dinner with the whole family was a good moment for me too, I felt inrodinately happy writing that scene, which is kind of silly. It pleases me to no end that it was a highlight for you. Thank you for letting me know that! :)

As for the ending, I'm sorry you didn't like it as much as I'd hoped. I've mentioned it before that I knew this ending wouldn't be a favorite with everyone. I am very, very happy that it didn't detract from your liking the story overall.

Again, I can't thank you enough, David, for all your amazing comments and for sticking with this story to the very end!

Happy Holidays!

Great story. Do you think you might write a follow up? Maybe Brian and Justin getting to know each other again, attending Gus' graduation/ wedding. Justin and the 'family' re-connecting.  I am surprised that Brian sold Kinnetik, but then again he was sactificing everything for what he beleives.

Author's Response:

Dear Debv3,

Thank you for reading and for your lovely comment! The sequel is in the works, thought will take me a while to write - I am trying to come up with a good enough story.

Wow, I can't believe that this story is over.  I was enjoying it and looking forward to some more angst.  I did feel that the last chapter (Brian's) moved a little too quickly. I thought his agreeing to talk to Justin so easily (especially after 12 years and Justin's remarriage) seemed out of character for Brian but I never imagined it was the end of the story.  I very much liked your concept of the fight and telling the audience about it from different people's points of view to slowly reveal the details was great.  However, I have to say that while Brian selling everything and moving was very reminiscent of the grand gesture in the tv show, it just didn't seem appropriate here.  The whole ending seemed very abrupt.  Thank you for sharing it with us.  (I hope I didn't come off as too critical becuase I did like your story.)

Author's Response:

Thank you, ycorgigirl! No, you didn't come off as too critical - you expressed an honest opinion in a very constructive way, wich I appreciate greatly and which I welcome. I understand why the ending would seem abrupt.

Here are some of my thoughts while writing the story. To me, it was all about Gus's 'quest'. He wanted to get information, then in the process he realized he wanted to get the family to where it was before and he thought that Brian, and Justin needed to meet face-to-face in order to put everything behind them for good, regardless of their getting back together. By the end of Brian's chapter, Gus has achieved all of that, or at least set Brian on the path of getting it all started. So, to me this particular arch in Gus's storyline was done - the 'quest' was over, he got what he wanted and grew up a little bit in the process.

As for Brian, my thoughts are that people change in 12 years and he's not the same person he was back then, so a certain amout of ooc behavior is expected. But forget that for a second and think of what Brian told Gus - he realized his mistake and went to London to reconcile with Justin 2 years after the fight. Unfortunately he decided not to say anything when he saw Justin happy, which is very IN character, imho. He also never forgot him, never stopped loving him, kept his pictures and drawings close to him and was devastated when he found out that Justin got married. If you notice, Brian was surprised to find out that Justin's husband was dead - if Daniel was alive, I don't think Gus would've been able to convince Brian to go to London to face Justin; but the fact that Justin was free, gave Brian hope. As for why he decided to give in to Gus's plea and agree to talk to Justin, well, I think that Gus inspired him with his total love and committment to Sunny, his willingness to risk ALL, to compromise, to put love above all else and to fight for it.

That's what my thoughts were when writing the chapter and what they still are now. If I didn't manage to translate them across, or didn't do so enough, than it is entirely my fault as a writer and it is something I am working very hard on improving. It's also the reason why I appreciate comments such as yours so very much - I learn from them.

So, I sincerely thank you! I also thank you for reading, reviewing and supporting this story - it has meant a lot to me.

*Hugs*

Cheers,

Vin

ok having read your story with a lot of interest and enthusiasm, even with your explanation, for me this story has ended too abrupt. I do understand your reason to not divulge too much of a B/J storyline in here, but certainly would have wished to know more about Gus´s way to go to London and witnessing his father to go from total denial of any encounter with his old love to preparing to go after it, the reaction of the family to the news and more of Gus´ thoughts during this time. Learning more about all the family accepting him as a full consent adult and not longer little Gus who really helped them all to overcome one stupid mistake in the past. And as for the B/J storyline, this just demands a sequel ^^ !!!

Author's Response:

Thank you very much for your reveiw - I truly, truly appreciate an honest opinion, even if it's not totally satisfied with my story. You made some excellent points and I hope to address them in at least some way in the sequel that I hope to write.

"Why? Because I regret how things ended. Because I am sorry, so sorry for letting you go that night, again. Because I want your forgiveness for letting you down. Because I regret not fighting for us more than I can say."

OK, I'm happy with this and that Brian sold everything to move in next to Justin was a tremendous act of how sincere he was. I always want the two to end up together but I was not happy with how things had ended with that family argument and interference as well as the silent treatment after Mikey's hurtful words. Brian let it fester for 12 years. I thought that was unforgivable and that he could forgive Mikey but not try to communicate to Justin in all that time was deployable. Brian's big gesture was needed after all that, but that's just my lonely opinion. LOL

Author's Response:

Hello nosleep,

Your opinion maybe lonely, but no less valid and very, very appreciated. Thank you for writing a very thoughful comment. In a way I do agree with you, but at the same time I think that Brian wasn't consciously letting it fester - it was just easier for him let it alone, so he did. It was a selfish thing, perhaps, but not malicious in its intentions. If he were malicious, then he probably wouldn't have spoken to anyone in his family at all during those 12 years and would have refused Deb's request to help Michael. I think he forgave everyone in his heart and mind, he just never said it outloud to all of them; instead he chose to set it aside.

Again, thank you very much for writing so many wonderful comments and for supporting my story.

Vin

Completely enjoyed it..Congrats!!!. It was excellent.....so when does the sequel comes out?(wink, wink and fingers crossed).

I guess that I could use my imagination but your writing is way better. Its like a written show where your writing provides the images although I am reading words.

How about it? Making it work in London for the boys. The many challenges of years apart where each has grown and a daughter in the mix, could it work???..............and they could always vacation in Britin.

(fingers and toes crossed - hoping and wishing)

Author's Response:

Hello my dear Reader,

A huge thank you for your wonderful words of encouragement - they mean the world to me. I am ecstatic that people like my writing and want more of it.

As for the sequel...after reading all the amazing comments on this story, especially the epilogue, I've been giving it some serious thought. The thing is that I've never expected this story to be this popular, so I've alwasy intended it to be a stand-alone tale. Now though...the thoughts of a sequel won't leave my mind. Since it'll have to be set in England, I'll have to do some research (probably a lot of it) and I'll have to figure out a way to tell an interesting story. So, if I do write it, it won't be written as fast as this one. I know it's not a very clear answer, but that the best one I have at the moment.

Thank you again for all your support.

Vin

Author's Response:

Oh, wordshipper, I am very sorry you were disappointed. I knew the ending wouldn't please everyone, but it felt right to me, so I went with my instincts. There've been some interest in a sequel, which I am seriously considering writing, provided I can come up with a good enough plot and enough "meat" for a proper B & J reunion. So, if and when that happens, I hope you will give it a chance.

Well Vin, you certainly surprised me, and I'm not sure how I feel about it exactly. I am glad that you told us upfront that you would explain in your ending A/N, or else I may have been pitching a bit of a fit.

While I agree with your logic that this story belongs to Gus, I feel more than a little slighted that we didn't get to see Brian struggle to come to this decision and put his plan into action - rather than the very abrupt transition from Brian coming to terms with what Gus was saying, and then finding Justin, and arriving at this scene. I think perhaps with one chapter between chapter 10 and this chapter, I could even have made peace with not getting to experience the reunion journey itself that will undoubtedly take place from here (although if you ever decide to write it as a separate story, I think it would be delightful).

I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future. Please don't be upset by my rather confused reaction to this ending. It's just that for most of us, we hate to  miss even a minute of what our boys experience, and when we think of all the moments we may have missed, we really want to know! I know...greedy, right?

Keep the stories coming,

loving life,

Charle

Author's Response:

Dear Charle,

I would never, never, EVER be upset at someone's honest opinion. Thank you for being honest with me and I truly appreciate your thoughtful comment. I'm sorry that you were disappointed, that was a fear of mine with ending the story where I did - I knew it wouldn't please everyone. The thing is that it always felt right to me. Before I started writing individual chapters, I had an outline and then about 15 pages of notes and from the very beginning it was my plan to end the story like this, because it felt so very right to me. I DO understand, however, where you are coming from and after reading a number of othersimilar comments, I think that a sequel isn't out of the realm of possibility. I'll just have to seriously think about it, plot it out and hopefully come up with something that would explain everything that's missing here and will take the story futher. It's funny, I thought this story was going to be a small something that no one would be interested in reading and I was completely blown away by the amazing, amazing response, which only makes me want to write more and better.

Thank you, again, for reading, for your wonderful reviews (including this one) and, especially, for your support and encouragement.

Cheers,

Vin

good story and I realize it was from gus's pont of view, but a couple more chapters or maybe a sequel would be making me happy.  I like to have thing sresolved in these stories not up-ended.  oh well!!

Author's Response:

Oh, no! I disappointed you. I'm sorry, truly. I was hoping to avoid that. On the whole the ending is not THAT open ended - I mean the boys live next door to each other and Justin is clearly open to possibilities. And as an unwavering BJ shipper my thoughts are that they WILL end up together regardless. However, if anyone wants to have them just stay friends, they could interpret the ending like that also.

As for the sequel...Can't promise anything there, since I never expected this story to sort of take off like it did. If there's interest, I'll seriously think about it, but it would depend on whether or not I do it justice. I wouldn't want to write something just for the sake of having a sequel, if it's not any good.

Thank you for all your support and your wonderful comments!
