Justin tossed and turned in his sleep. "You're worthless. You'll never amount to anything." the huge figure threatened. Strong hands were grabbing him, pinning him face down. He couldn't breathe and began to thrash around. He suddenly bolted upright, gasping for air. Opening his eyes, darkness was all around him. After a few moments, Justin realized that he was sitting upright on his cot, in his cold dreary cell that was now his home. His heart was still racing, and he wondered if he had yelled out loud or had just imagined it. When the guards did not come to investigate, he was relieved. Another nightmare, when were they going to stop? He laid back down, and stared at the ceiling. Justin tried to think of something else...anything else. His mind drifted to the therapy session earlier that day. The new counselor, Brian Kinney was hot! Justin had been taken with his striking good looks, and his lean muscular frame. He had felt an immediate attraction to him, and his body had responded, even though he outwardly appeared aloof. Justin thought about Brian, what was his motive for being at Riker's? He knew that in time, his true intentions would be revealed. When Brian returned to his office later that night, he perused the file on one Justin Braeden Taylor. The boy was 17 years old, and had been convicted of attempted murder. He was accused of stabbing his stepfather several times with a steak knife. Examining the reports, he noticed that Justin had courted trouble since the tender age of 12. However, what further intrigued him was that the boy had been tested, and found to have an IQ in the superior range, as well as an unusual aptitude for the arts. As the days went by, Brian agonized over what three residents he would work with separately, since they were all so needy. Ultimately, he settled on two boys from the 13-15 year old group, and one boy from the 16-17 year old group. The two boys from the younger group had been victimized by the other boys, and the lone boy selected from the older group was Justin Taylor. He was the only boy who had not uttered a word in the two weeks Brian had been conducting therapy sessions. In fact, Justin had barely reacted to anything Brian or the other boys said. But Brian sensed something in Justin's demeanor that told him not to give up on the young man. So he was determined to try and break down his walls, and gain his trust. When Justin was first summoned to Mr. Kinney's office, he was curious as to why he was there. He nonchalantly sat down on the couch opposite Brian (which is how he wanted to be addressed). Justin feigned a mask of indifference, which proved increasingly difficult with those spectacular hazel eyes engaging him. Brian informed him that he was going to begin working with him individually on a daily basis. Justin was pissed, but said nothing. He thought to himself, "I'm not some pathetic loser. I don't need special attention from a shrink." At the same time, he was nervous and apprehensive, because it would also mean spending a great deal of time with Brian, and possibly liking him. After Justin left, Brian was brutally honest with himself. Although his main purpose was to help Justin, he had also felt this special underlying connection to him that he wanted to explore. Justin was obviously intelligent, but not ready to divulge any information about himself or his troubled past. Brian could only hope that he was up for the challenge Justin presented for him. He would certainly try his best to reach this beautiful, emotionally damaged young man.
