long division Immersed in his work, Brian stops suddenly when he hears a vaguely familiar ring. Glancing over to Justin’s now lit up phone, he reads ‘Diner’ on the caller ID. “Hey, Deb.” He answers as he continues to type on the computer. “Brian?” “The one and only.” Brian replies with a smirk. “Where’s Sunshine?” “No idea. He left his cell phone here.” Saving his file, he leans back against his chair, “I can tell him you called when I see him.” “Carl is looking for him.” Her voice is low, and Brian can imagine her trying to be inconspicuous. Frowning, he asks, “What’s wrong?” “I don’t know,” Debbie answers, her annoyance evident, “He wouldn’t tell me. He thought Justin was still working here, but I told him that he was interning at Vanguard now and didn’t have time to work at the diner anymore.” Brian is quiet. He didn’t know that Justin had quit the diner. What was he doing for money? He was glad that Justin was living with Daphne, that obviously would have cut down his expenses. “So is Carl is coming here?” Deb sighs, “I guess. What the hell is going on with Sunshine?” “I have no fuckin’ clue,” he answers honestly. “I’ll let you know if I find out anything.” “You do that, Honey.” Hanging up, Brian is still frowning. Something didn’t feel right. Staring at the phone, he wonders what Justin is up to.
