Smevalicious banner a/n the lyrics are from Lifehouse's Hanging by a Moment awesome song, listen to it! Tell me all that you've thrown away Find out games you don't wanna play You are the only one that needs to know “At this rate, we’ll have to make a condom stop.” Brian’s hot breath caresses my ear and I turn to give him a sunshine smile. “Complaining?” “Never.” “Good. I’m hungry, where are we going for lunch?” “It’s time for your inducement into gay culture. We’ll start with the diner.” “Sounds good, lead the way.” Once in the Jeep Brian dons black sunglasses, perfecting his image. I turn on the radio, breezing by the Christian stations to the soft rock. I stop at my favorite station as a commercial ends and as the next song comes on I am about to turn the dial when Brian’s hand stops me. “This is a good one.” I’ve never heard it before but I am soon feeling the soft beat in my body. The raspy voice starts to sing and I listen closely to the lyrics. Desperate for changing Starving for truth I’m closer to where I started I’m chasing after you I’m falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I’ve held on to I’m standing here until you make me move I’m hanging by a moment here with you Forgetting all I’m lacking Completely incomplete Ill take your invitation You take all of me now The song gets louder and Brian softly sings along. I quickly turn my head to look outside the window, afraid of what I might see in Brian’s shaded eyes. “I’m falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I’ve held on to I’m standing here until you make me move I’m hanging by a moment here with you I’m living for the only thing I know I’m running and not quite sure where to go And I don’t know what I’m diving into Just hanging by a moment here with you” My heart starts to beat faster, unsure of what is going on. It’s just a song right? Yea, come on Taylor don’t be such a lesbo. Brian continues to sing quietly while my emotions run crazy. “There’s nothing else to lose There’s nothing else to find There’s nothing in the world That can change my mind There is nothing else There is nothing else There is nothing else Desperate for changing Starving for truth I’m closer to where I started I’m chasing after you” The song pauses and I turn and meet Brian’s soft hazel eyes. I offer him a knowing smile and he returns it. The song picks up and we both start to sing the lyrics loudly. I can’t stop smiling as we belt out the song. I don’t care what this means, fuck it all. “I’m falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I’ve held on to I’m standing here until you make me move I’m hanging by a moment here with you I’m living for the only thing I know I’m running and not quite sure where to go And I don’t know what I’m diving into Just hanging by a moment here with you Just hanging by a moment Hanging by a moment Hanging by a moment Hanging by a moment here with you” The song ends and we both steel our eyes to the road, slightly embarrassed. We both turn at the same time, matching shy grins. God I feel so vulnerable and open, and from his face, he is too. Thankfully, before either of us can say anything corny or clichéd, Brian pulls up outside the Liberty Diner. We both hop out and Brian wraps his arm around my waist protectively and presses a kiss to the side of my head. That’s what I like most about Brian. The subtle shy and not-so-shy touches, a sweet kiss here and there. No words, no bullshit. Brian guides me into the diner and I am assaulted by color, sound, and the smell of grease and fries. We sit in a booth in the back and I take in my surroundings. There are PFLAG signs, rainbows and posters advertising who-knows-what adorning the walls. The diner is loud; it’s pretty crowded filled with lesbians, gays, and trannys. I’ve never seen one up close before, one is in a 50’s waitress outfit, I hope she has our table. The artist inside me is itching to capture the seemingly organized chaos, and Brian’s serene face. I pick up a brightly colored menu and start to peruse through. Brian’s POV Sitting across from Justin I suppress a laugh at his amazed face as he takes in the diner. Today has been amazing. We haven’t been on the date for more than 4 hours and already we’ve had sex. Now that’s my kind of date. My jeans become tighter as I think about that experience. Out of the corner of my eye I see Debbie walking over to the table, shit, the National Inquirer. “Brian!” Damnit Justin looks up at her and beams, they’re ganging up on me. She lays a hard smack to the side of my head and shakes a finger. “You little shit! You missed dinner last week! I haven’t seen you in forever! AND I had to cancel this week because my good-for-nothing nephew is visiting!” She pauses in her tirade, seeing a snickering Justin, “SUNSHINE! Come here and give me a hug! How have you been!?! Brian took you out on a date to this dump!?!” “You work here Deb” I point out as she pulls Justin into a bone crushing hug. “Shut up, why have you kept him from me!?!” Justin gives her a huge grin, “This is our first date Debbie.” “Can we get some food today?” “Watch it kiddo, what would you like Justin?” “Umm a cheeseburger, fries, and a coke please.” “Nice manners you got there and a healthy appetite. You could learn from Sunshine here, turkey on whole wheat no mayo and water I assume?” “Got it in one.” Deb bustles off with our order and I lean back and prop my foot up on the seat. We make idle chit-chat until our food comes, both of us making comments about the movie neither of us watched a minute of. Finally Deb delivers our food, “Sometime this week after practice you need to hang out with Mikey.” Uggg not that little brat. “But Deb…” “No buts about it, well except for his. You can bring sunshine to meet him.” Yea right, the less people exposed to that thing the better. I let out a low groan and surrender myself to the horrid fate that is Mikey. “I don’t care what you do with him but you are taking him off my hands while I go to work. You are all he talks about so he’ll be glad to see you.” With that Deb leaves to grab more orders. “So…who’s Mikey?” Justin asks with a teasing smile, bitch. “My stalker, the leech visits Deb once a year and I have to baby-sit him.” “Sucks for you.” Justin says popping a fry in his mouth. “Bitch” he giggles and pulls my head down for a kiss. And somehow the taste of Justin, even laced with French fries, is divine.
