Timeless Part 8 ------------------------------------------------------ 2051 "It's hard to believe that you'll be eighty tomorrow." "Don't remind me. I cannot believe you invited every damn person we know to the house for tomorrow." Brian grumbled as he sat beside Justin on the front porch swing. "It isn't everyone Brian, just the family; I know how you hate crowds." Justin leaned over, pulling Brian's face down for a kiss. "I also know you love the attention, so don't give me any grief over this family get together." "But Justin, all the damn kids will be there, they drive me nuts one at a time, can you imagine Gus's kids mixed with Anna's. Why in the world did they have to have so many?" "Brian, four grandchildren is not a lot." "No it isn't but they don't come by themselves, oh no, every one of them has to bring their boyfriend or girlfriend, it's going to be a zoo." "The weather is nice; I'll keep them outside most of the day. Gus's oldest is bringing his guitar; we'll have entertainment for them." "Do you think they'll like my present for each of them?" Brian asked, a little worried. "I know they will Honey. You are the one that's supposed to be getting the presents, not giving them." "What the fuck do I need at eighty that I don't already have?" "A viagra prescription?" "Brat, it might be old but it still works on command." Justin put his head in Brian's lap, content to be sitting on the swing, the sun shining and feeling his partner's hand trace circles on his back. "Brian, do you ever think of the dreams we had when you were in Alaska?" "Once in awhile I do, not often. Usually when you've been trying to be sneaky about something and I get a flash of exactly what you're up to." "I'm never sneaky, take that back" "You are such a sneak sometime. Like when you decided I should retire and you began the `lets move to the country it'll keep me out of the clubs' campaign. I knew damn right well you weren't going to the clubs every night." "You did? Why did we buy this house and move then?" Brian leaned over and kissed Justin's lips. "because I was sick of working and I wanted to keep you out of the clubs and in my bed" "I'm always in your bed" "Not often enough, like now for instance, we could be having this conversation with both of us horizontal." Justin could feel the stirring of an erection under his head "I guess I'd better return that viagra I bought you for your birthday" he teased "Everything seems to be working" The warmth of the sun kept them pinned to the swing, a companionable silence fell, both men lost in the memories of their lives together. "Brian, if you had anything you could do over in the last fifty years what would it be?" "No regrets Baby" "No I mean anything, just suppose." "Well, I would have told you how I felt long before I did." Justin snuggled against Brian content with his answer. "What about you Baby?" Brian asked. He knew the answer, they'd played this game many times over the last fifty years. "On my nineteenth birthday, I would have insisted on staying home with you. I would have tied you up and not let you go until you told me you loved me" "You know I always loved you Baby." "But you didn't say it Brian" "I know, but I felt it, I still do." Justin scooted up until Brian could hold him in his arms. The two men began to kiss; kissing Justin was still one of Brian's favorite ways to pass the time. Their kissing and murmured endearments kept them from hearing the car driving up and coming to a stop beside the porch. "Eeeewwww, geriatric sex" said Gus smiling. "Where?" replied Justin and Brian at the same time. This greeting had become a family favorite over the years as the children and grandchildren almost always found the two men in some kind of an embrace "Hey Pops, I guess we're the first to arrive" Gus helped his wife Molly out of the car. "Hi Justin, Brian I see you guys are up to the same old thing." Said Molly coming around to the porch. "Quiet Mollusk, Brian and I were having a discussion." "Well you sure discuss things funny. The kids left when we did so they won't be long. BK is bringing his significant other who also plays in their band so be prepared. Jenny's been singing with them and her boyfriend plays lead guitar so you'll have the whole group here. I sure hope you remembered to buy ear plugs." "Hey Gus, Molly still has that Taylor motor mouth, I thought you beat it out of her long ago." Brian smiled at the two of them. "You wish old man." Replied Molly who long ago had joined the Brian Kinney fan club but had learned early in the membership not to take any shit from him. "Sorry, Pops, what can I say, I'm whipped by a Taylor women just like dear old Pop" "Who you calling a woman Gussy Bear?" asked Justin as he hugged him and then Molly hello. "I love it and so does Pops, Dad" Gus whispered as he hugged Justin back. "I heard that Sonny Boy, I might be old, but I'm not deaf." Brian smiled to take the sting from his words. "Gus I thought everyone was arriving tomorrow" Justin was wondering if he'd got the date wrong. "I know, sorry I didn't call, but we had the chance for an extra day off and really wanted to spend it you and Pops. The moms will be here tomorrow, they're bringing Auntie Em" "Justin, how many people are coming, you said only family?" Brian tried not to sound whiney in front of Gus. "Em is family Brian, stop being an old poop. Go lie down or something." "I will if you will" "Pops get a grip; leave Dad alone for a minute." Gus sat on the swing beside his father. "And Pops, BK's new boyfriend, you be nice to him." "What's wrong with him?" "Nothing's wrong with him, but you know how you are. Just because BK looks like Dad when he was younger, you seem to think you can tell him who he can and can't date." "I do not." "Pops, you are beyond a control freak where Dad is concerned, BK too. You never seem to mind who Jenny dates." "That's because Jenny takes after her grandfather and is sensible." "When were you ever sensible?" "I married your Dad didn't I?" "OK one sensible thing but a zillion insensible ones before that, I've heard the stories." "Did I ever tell you about the time I met your Dad, it was the night you were born." Brian sat back in the swing. It was his favorite story. Gus closed his eyes, he could recite this one word for word, but it always made Pops smile when he told it. Truth be told, he kind of liked it too. It made him feel closer to his Dad. "I can't remember" he said, "tell me again" "It was a quiet night out with my friends, Auntie Em, Uncle Mikey, and old Ted, nothing much was happening so we decided to leave early (Brian always cleaned up the first part of the story) I was getting into my Jeep, I've shown you pictures of my Jeeps, when I looked over and there he was. He was walking down Liberty Ave; he came out of the mist and slouched against a lamp post, that one over there. (Brian had bought the lamp post when Liberty Ave had undergone some renovations) The light shone down on him, he looked so young and scared, and I knew right away I had to hav--- I mean get to know him." "You told him you could change his night" "Sort of, have I told you this before?" "No go on" "I took him back to my loft, I fell in love with him the moment I'd seen him, but I didn't realize it then, of course I didn't realize it for a long time, I must have done too much dr--, I mean my brain didn't always function properly." "So you fucked him?" "Geeze Gus, that's kind of crude. Well, I kissed him, he made me, the stud of Liberty Ave, he made my toes curl, it was that kind of kiss. Not that I want him to know that, it would only go to his head." "Then you fucked him" "No then your mom called and told me your mother had just had you. So Justin and I picked up your Uncle Mikey and went to the hospital to see you. You were a lot cuter then." He joked "and not so foul mouthed" "Like you never say `fuck'" "Your Dad fell in love with you that night the same as I did, and when your mother wanted a decision as to your name, I asked Justin to make it. So you became Gus that night." "Then you took him home and fucked him" "You have a one track mind Sonny Boy. Yes I took him back to my place." Brian shut his eyes, he remembered every second of that night, he visited that memory often over the years. "It was the beginning of us, Brian and Justin, only I didn't know it then. Justin did, he felt the connection and knew it for what it was. I felt the connection too, but wouldn't allow myself to believe." Justin walked back out onto the porch with Molly. "Brian, are you telling Gus about when we met again?" he leaned down and kissed the top of Brian's head. "He is the most romantic old grouch you'll ever meet" "Gus likes me to tell the story, don't you Sonny Boy?" "Of course I do Pops" Gus gave Brian a quick kiss on the cheek "You always change little bits of it depending on whether Dad gives you anything to drink. It's kind of fun. I get more details if you're squiffed." "I'm never drunk" Justin smiled indulgently at his husband of more than forty years and his son, the son of his heart. "I think BK and his new beau just turned in the drive. Save the rest of the stories for later" Justin went down to the driveway, BK was his and Brian's first grandchild, made even more special by the fact that his sister was Gus's wife, so his genes made up this young man. "BK, it's great to see you" he pulled his grandson in for a hug. The blonde haired, blue eyed man looked like a mirror image of him when he was twenty. "Grandpa I want you to meet Davie," a tall man, with a shock of blonde hair, streaked with shades of blue, the curls hallowing his head and falling to the middle of his back, got out of the passenger door. He looked older than BK, much older. "Hi Mr. Taylor-Kinney, David Hobbs here, pleased to meet you." He held out his hand to be shaken. Justin, automatically shook his hand, unsure about who this young man was, and very definitely afraid to ask with Brian glowering from the front porch. "Hello David, call me Justin, or Grandpa like BK. Lets go meet the rest of the family." Justin led the way up the porch steps quickly making his way to Brian's side. Brian stood there glaring at David and BK. "BK who is this fellow, what's wrong with his god damn hair. Who is he to Chris Hobbs?" "Your Grandfather is a rude bugger, BK" said David unconcerned at Brian's wrath. "To answer your questions sir, I'm BK's boyfriend" he bent and kissed BK gently "My hair is like this for a video I'm doing with BK and Chris Hobbs is my father." "You'll have to excuse my husband" Justin apologized. "He doesn't do surprises well, never has and probably never will" Justin had his arm around Brian's waist, offering him the support he needed. He looked off into the distance. "Saved everyone, Jenny's here" Jenny didn't get out of the car right away. Gus, Molly and Justin walked down the stairs, Brian, BK and David following closely. "Jenny, you getting out honey?" asked a concerned Molly. "Mom, Dad, you know how I haven't been home since Thanksgiving, and you know how I've told you about Paul, but you haven't actually met him. Well he's here with me today for Grandfather's birthday and" the passenger door opened and a young man, well over six feet tall unfolded himself from the car, he was obviously of mixed race, no one was quite sure what, he looked Chinese and Black and maybe even Navaho "Hi Jenny's family, I'm Paul." He stayed on his side of the car as preparing to get back in quick and lock the doors. "Jenny, dear, get out of the car." Molly opened the door to let Jenny out. The silence was heavy as a very pregnant Jenny, rolled out of the car. "Paul and I have something to tell you. We're married and oh yeah, I've gained weight, but the good thing is in about two hours, I'll have lost about seven pounds" with that she let out a groan and clutched her side. "Christ Jenny, why didn't you say something?" Paul had all but leaped over the car and had scooped Jenny up in his arms, heading for the front porch. Justin looked at Brian almost hating to see his reaction to all this. "Happy Fucking Birthday to me Sunshine" he said as he rolled his eyes, wrapped his arms around Justin's shoulders leading him up the porch steps and into the house following the trail of amniotic fluid from Jenny, her water had broken. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
