Justin lay in bed thinking about everything that has been happening in his life. He was different; well of course he knew he was different. Having a father that is the town’s pastor, you live under a microscope and have to be perfect. But like all things, not everything is as perfect as they look. What would they do if they knew what Craig did to his daughter every night? No one but Justin. How could he ignore the cries? He tried to stop him often but somehow he would end up with a broken rib or bleeding lip. Justin was supposed to be the perfect son; going to church every Sunday, school everyday. Never misbehave, if he did, it resulted into a slap across the face. God help him if he got a B, he wouldn’t see the world for about a week, with the bruises surround his face. His father was a vicious man behind closed doors. Behind the white picket fence and red front door lied a monster, a rapist and his mother could do nothing to stop him. Really, no one could stop Craig Taylor; he was well loved throughout the small town, Justin and Molly though, hated him. Justin never loved the bastard. So often he wished he was dead, but of course nothing like that would happen. He was forced to live this life. He could remember the first time his father came into his room. He was eight years old. He thought his father was finally going to love him but sadly, that wasn’t the case. Craig walked into young Justin’s room late at night when all was quiet in the house. He startled his son. Justin: “Daddy what’s wrong?” Craig said nothing; he sat at the edge of Justin’s bed. Justin: “Daddy what are you doing?” Craig didn’t speak to his son the whole time he was raping and kissing him. Justin threw up on his father when he was done and Craig threw him across the room and left him there. Justin at eight knew what his father had done was wrong but he never said anything. When Justin woke up the next morning he couldn’t move, he had a busted lip and huge deep blue bruises on his hips and other parts of his body. At 17, Justin was used to the abuse but when his little sister started getting raped, he couldn’t handle it. He had punched his father for the first time at 15, but he was scared for what he would do to her. He didn’t care about himself. Justin ended up with a concussion and three broken ribs. For some reason, Molly didn’t hate him even though he couldn’t save her. He felt like shit about that. They stuck together. For no one would ever know the truth of family behind the red door. That was enough of the past for one night. Justin settled asleep when he heard footsteps of his father retreating. Tonight was Molly, tomorrow would be him. He hated that his father took turns. He learned how to block and escape but Molly still couldn’t. After 9 years of abuse you learn to hide yourself. Every Sunday was Justin's day; which meant that tomorrow would be a mix of pain and hurt for him; like always.
