It was pitch black when Michael, Ted, Brian, and Justin made their way out of the cave. Michael was carrying a latern to light their way.
They rode their horses, Justin riding Ben's, to edge of Four Corners. "Watch the horses, Ted. If you hear me whistle, come running with them. If not, we'll meet you back here. Understood?" demanded Brian.
Ted nodded, then watched as the others started jogging into Four Corners.
When they got into the town, they slowed down, keeping an eye out for any of the peacekeepers. They kept to the shadows, staying beside buildings. As they were about to reach the bank, Brian stopped, causing the others to stop as well.
In the small light of the latern, they saw Chris walking from the saloon to the jail. After he had entered the jail, the three men continued toward the bank.
When they reached the bank's front door, Brian pulled out a long thin lock pick. He had learned to pick locks when he was a kid. He had mastered the skill, and could pick about any lock he came across.
It only took him a few seconds and the door was open. They quietly shut the door and walked toward the back of the bank.
"You're going to help me gather the money, while Michael keeps watch," Brian told Justin. Justin nodded his undestading. As he and Brian headed toward where the money was kept, Michael kept a watch out of the only window that the bank had.
Brian and Justin grabbed the money that was behind the teller's station, shoving it in a bag that they had found. Afterwards, Justin and Brian went to the safe. Luckily it wasn't on a timer, for which Brian was happy.
The money in the safe was kept in moneybags, so they were easy to grab. After they had as much as they could take, which was five bags each, they walked back to Michael.
Justin knew that it was wrong, but he was throughly enjoying himself. He couldn't help it, it was giving him a rush. And, it was even better that Brian was with him. They all walked out of the bank, Brian locking the door before he shut it. Keeping to the shadows, they quickly made their way to where the horses and Ted were.
Brian was grinning. They had made it, nobody the wiser! Brian knew that nobody in the town would know that their money was missing until the bank was opened the next morning. 'It was the perfect robbery,' he thought with a smile as they made their way back to the cave.
"Anything happenin'?" Vin asked when Chris entered the jail.
Chris shook his head. "No." He, then, leaned down and softly kissed Vin's lips. After they parted, Chris sat down in a chair beside Vin, and sighed. "I can't believe that we weren't able to find them."
Chris was talking about the Kinney Gang. They had sat out, tracking them. But none of them, not even Vin, had been able to pick up their trail. When dusk had hit, they had been forced to turn back. They were needed in town. They would have to try and track the Kinney Gang when it was light again.
"I'm sorry, Cowboy," Vin said softly.
Chris shrugged. "We'll get them."
After a pause, Vin asked, "Will you be able to do what may have to be done? I mean, would you be able to shoot your own cousin? Or deliver him to be hung?"
Chris nodded. "I've thought about it. Brian and I used to be like brothers, he had a rough childhood. But, that doesn't exscuse what he's doing. He's not above the law, just because he's family. I'll do whatever needs to be done."
Vin nodded, hoping for Chris' sake that he didn't have to shoot or kill his cousin. Because no matter what his lover said, he knew that Chris would forever live with the guilt.
