Justin emerged from the bathroom to find Ethan dressed and sitting at the small dining table. It sat just behind the couch that Justin had helped the other man drag up here to the apartment all those months ago. Ethan looked up from his mug of coffee when he heard the bathroom door open. Ethan had a strange look on his face. It was a mixture of confusion yet resignation. Justin sat down across from Ethan who immediately poured him a cup of the steaming brew. Ethan looked at Justin thoughtfully before speaking. "Justin, are you happy?" Justin was taken aback by the question. Was he *that* transparent? He couldn't find his voice at first. "You just don't seem very happy here." Ethan continued. "And, unfortunately, I don't think you ever will be. Not with me." "Ethan - " "No, Justin, please don't lie to me. Tell me the truth. Do you really want to be here?" Justin sighed. "Because if you don't want to be here, you should go." Justin stared at his lover not knowing what to say. It was true. He wasn't happy here, but he didn't know where else he could go. "Oh, Ethan." Justin managed. "I never meant to hurt. You have to know that." "Of course, I know that." Ethan said with a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I should have known better. I should have known that I couldn't take you from your one true love. I should have known that nothing good would come of it." He shrugged. "I can't go back to him?" "Sure you can." Ethan said with a snort. "He might make it difficult for a while, but you're persistent." He lifted Justin's chin. "It's how you got in to begin with and it is how you will get back in." "You seem so sure." "He loves you." Ethan said. "You know that. Now, go and make him say it and prove it and believe it." "Thanks Ethan." Justin said as he stood to gather his stuff. "For everything." Ethan smiled. "Just invite me to the wedding." He said with a wink making Justin smile wider. He had stuffed his things into his bag, gave Ethan a quick peck on the lips and rushed out the door. Ethan sat staring at his coffee cup for a second or two before getting up, throwing his backpack over his shoulder and heading to school. He knew that he's never fully get over Justin, but for a short time he had held 'Sunshine' in his arms. He smiled and somehow knew that his memory of Justin would always make him smile. End Chapter 6
