Chapter Five: LIKE A GOOD-LUCK CHARM They’ve been walking on the New York streets and in the park for almost one hour. Simply talking about nothing and walking in a comfortable silence. The rain has stopped and the late sun was hiding behind heavy-looking clouds, its bright rays were shining through them, casting pale blue-pinkish shades. “How’s work going?” Emmett asks, playfully stepping one foot directly in front of the other. “Could this question be any less interesting?” Brian huffs with a laugh. “Yeah... I quit.” “What? Why?” Emmett squeals with a low tone. “What do I need the money for? I’m set for life, remember? Besides, working’s just wastes precious time of my precious life.” “Right. Oh, Bri I have to go, I’m working late at Torso. In?” He looks at his watch. “Seventeen minutes. Will you be alright?” Emmett softly says as he turns to Brian. “Yes Emmett.” Brian says. “Okay.” Emmett wraps his arm around Brian and hugs him. “Take care.” Emmett says with a sweet smile. He briefly presses a kiss on Brian’s cheek. Brian smiles back and watches Emmett as he walks out the large black gates of the park’s entrance. He scratches the side of his scruffy beard with his nails and puts his hands back in his jeans pockets as he leaves the park also.
