I can't believe YOU made me laugh ! What a delightful chapter !

Does it make me a bad person if I really don't give a damn about our poor Ted, this time ??? Because, actually, Brian deserves a "little" comfort ! I think he had earned the right to be a bit cruel to those forget his sufferings !

Oh ! And I love what you've done with the "conversation" between Gus and Brian. It's so realistic and so funny!
Now, Brian must find a way to offer a dolphin to his son ! Another "hero thing"... or "father thing", but it's the same , I guess !

The puppy's name...It's so cute ! and french...Yippee !

And how Debbie is aware of her injustice to Brian ...
And how Brian called her "Ma"
Lindsay and her father ...
These are all little things that makes the characters and the whole story "vibrate". All these details which make them intensely alive. So alive that we can only like(or love !) them.

Sorry, my comments are very "disconnected" ! But I'm still in full euphoria mode...I will do better the next time !

Author's Response:

LOL.  I love disconnected, because it means you're touching on all the bases that I manage to insinuate into a chapter - and we all know that's a lot to keep up with.  And I am delighted if you laughed.  That is frequently the hardest thing to achieve in a story, especially a story in which the primary thrust is not funny at all.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment.

It's always a great pleasure to read a new chapter. I look forward for them ... and I'm delighted that you can continue to write. Hope you feel better.
I particularly admire the fact that you know so well construct a story. You never lose sight of your plot, and despite holding the different characters, we never lost. It's very exciting.
I'm looking forward to the confrontation between Corey and Brian. This is particularly interesting because Brian would remember important details. Another plot to solve!
Once again, Brian is hurt, betrayed, heartbroken ... I hope he will not compare Ted's betrayal with what Cynthia has done for him.
And I hope he does not use McLaren as putching ball ... because he's already beginning  to hurt him (saying he does not trust him).
Again, a fascinating chapter. More!

This has become boring for you to read always the same things, but I can only repeat again how much I admire your writing. Every detail is perfectly chosen and the dialogue is always brilliant.
I loved the work you have done with Brian's past. The summary is rather exhilarating and if you want to tell a little more, no problem!

I like what Gina Marie said about your conception of Brian. Mostly because that's what made me noticed another french reader: Brian becomes a kind of super hero that nobody can (or should!) resist. Personally, I do not mind, especially because this way of describing Brian is balanced by the other characters, more realistic, but equally strong and equally well built. Brian becomes "bigger than life", a symbol. And the amazing thing is that you answer some of this remark. Brian himself acknowledges its own limitations: "I don't do fragile" "I let myself forget that it was just an image. I let myself buy into my own bullshit, and believe that I could protect myself . . . and everybody else that I cared about. And worse than that, I made him believe it too. "
"You can't love . . . what you don't know." And you even make a refernce to his "secret identity" !

Finally, I rarely read a story that explores both the deepest feelings and the most hidden. Although I can not help but think that Corey has exceeded the limits in "violating" Brian's feelings of guilt and of shame . «  Because I always had to have it my way, and couldn't see that I was putting him at risk. Because I've never been good enough for him. He deserves - so much more than I could ever give him. It's always been . . . my fault. ». That's heartbreaking.

It is true that mental suffering is harder to bear than physical pain. "They're laughing," he said in a strange, flat voice. "How does a man do something like this . . . and laugh about it?"

I  love Christ. He is here to protect Brian and their interaction is amazing. I like the way he manage to help Brian after and during this terrible flashback.

The end of this chapter is breathtaking. I'm looking forward for the next.

Wonderful chapter, again. Every reaction, every feeling (fear, laugh, despair, love, anger, yearning...) are perfectly written. And for a once, it's all about love. I like this part :

Justin pulled back slightly, just enough to speak. "Mine," he breathed, with absolute certainty. "Yes?"
The smile was breathtaking. "Yes."
And Justin felt the truth of it. It was not now and never would be about possession or endless fidelity or monogamy. It had always been about two hearts that could reach out and touch each other, against all odds. Not because of promises or pledges or commitments or intentions, but because of the purest, most elemental, most fundamental of reasons. Because of love without limits, without reservations, without boundaries. Without locks.
"You love me," whispered Justin.
"Yes."
"Enough to let me go."
"Yes."
"And enough to keep me close, if that's what it takes to make me happy."
"Yes."
"Brian?"
"Yes?"
"I want you inside me. I want to spend the rest of my life . . . feeling you inside me, even when I'm not with you. I always want to feel you inside me. Yes?""

That night on the beach is a miracle, and a promise and a commitment ... a time almost too good to be true. I dread the return to reality.

Author's Response:

I'm delighted that you're pleased, and that you found that night "miraculous".  I was aiming for "magical", so I hope I came close.  As for the return to reality, of course, it must come, but maybe they can carry a little piece of magic with them, to see them through the rough times.  That's what I'm hoping, anyway, and I depend on readers like you to let me know if I get it right.

So, now, it's because of Brian if Michael almost died ?? And Michael will never love anyone the way he loves Brian ? What a rude thing to say in front of Ben !

You don't have to worry. Once again, it's brilliant. You perfectly painted the characters we love so much.

And Brian hadn't learn yet to trust himself and his feelings...isn't it ?  And yet - deep inside, in a place where no one had ever been allowed to enter - a shadow stirred and reached for the conscious level of his mind - and asked a question, age-old and ancient, a question he had seldom allowed himself to ask . . . and never once been able to answer. These two - so beautiful, so bright, so filled with life and joy - they would give him happiness beyond anything he had ever dared to imagine, but what . . . what could he possibly give them in return? The loveliness that dwelled within them, that would create an incandescent joy in his soul, was what they would bring to the life they would share; it was a part of them, which lived in their hearts.

Katy's grin was impudent. "Right. Nice ass too." Yes...I second that !

Thank you so much for this chapter. Take care of you and come back when you're ready.

I really like your original characters. Especially McLaren. And I'm amazed by the way you can give to all of them a whole story to tell.

One  again, your writting is brilliant, and I particularly love your description of Brian's feelings (complicated...) on the beach.

But, really, I'm afraid for him...Another obstacle to overcome ?
