This was a good one.  I've always liked the stories where Justin comes back to Pittsburgh and back to Brian.

Author's Response:

I so enjoy when they get back together, no matter what the circumstances.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  Yes.  I understand that Justin needed to feel he could live as an independent man.  I'm all for that.  But once he'd learned that he could, there is no way that they are not both better - stronger, more willing to be vulnerable, more confident, more fully themselves - when they are together

Great story.  Good job.  Love all of your 1 chapter stories.  They say so much. Thank you for them.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  I do enjoy writing them.  Hopefully in 2019 I will have more time to write, generally.

It's amazing how often one does what is expected of one only to find out it wasn't what they wanted!  Justin wanted Brian and thankfully Brian wanted Justin too.  The only bad thing is now they have Craig to thank for helping them get their heads out of their asses.  lol.

Author's Response:

That viewpoint hadn't occurred to me.  It's true - and hilarious.  If someone told Craig he might have another stroke.

OMG, I loved this!!  All the emotion you portrayed here so exquisitely.  I've always thought that Justin had to have mixed emotions about his father.  In fact, I would love one more chapter with perhaps a conversation between the two of them.  Maybe Craig COULD have an epiphany after his stroke (?). And Brian being Brian - showing with his deeds how much he loves Justin.  Beautiful.

THANK YOU for this wonderful story, Wendy!!  XOXO  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Than you, Kim - another one where I have to apologise for the long delay in response.  I don't know what I was doing a year ago, but obviously it didn't include things I should have been doing.  I'm not sure about Craig.  On occasion I can see ways that Brian might connect with Joanie, and Justin's general WASP-ness, good manners, etc might eventually break through her barriers, but I don't think that Craig would ever be able to accept Brian.  For a few reasons.  One is that I suspect he'd always see Brian as the degenerate who contaminated his son.  But mainly, I think Craig is even more of a control freak than Brian is, and in a very different way. Brian does his best to control his environment, but he isn't interested in controlling other people.  But I believe that Craig is controlling in that way, that he's always taken for granted that in his family his word was law, and then Brian came along and suddenly his son and heir was listening to this interloper rather than to him.  I don't think his ego would ever be able to accept that situation.  And if Craig doesn't accept Brian, I can't see how he can have any meaningful reconciliation with Justin.  All it would do is to cause Justin more pain.  But never say 'never' so who knows?
