Do I have it wrong or didn’t Brian have a broken collar bone during the Liberty Ride? Therefore he would know how it would be treated.

I do notlike that Jen is so bossy to Brian.  Spending his money when she feels like it and tellhim what to do.  Brian shouldtell her to back off and Justin too

the hell with Mel, stop paying for their shit and take Gus from them

Author's Response:

Gus does love his Moms.  I think B&J are concerned about disrupting Gus's life and worry he may resent being seperated from L&M.  Glad you are still reading and enjoying this long saga.  Bill

Your story telling is very, very good.

Hi, I just finished reading both Sickness & Health and HOlidays.  I so enjoyed both stories.  I hope Taylor-Kinneyhs do Disney will be out soon.  You are such a good writer and your stories are always so good.  Thank you for writing them for us to enjoy.

Author's Response:

Thanks!!!!  I am working on the enxy installment.  Some changes in RL don't leave me with as much time for writing as I'd like.  Hope to have something posted soon.  Bill

Sorry for totally forgetting to comment. As you already know, I just absolutely love this verse you've created. I hope you choose to continue it with a "next" chapter. Not only am I looking forward to Brian in Disney, but I'm more looking forward to the arrival of the twins.

Thanks for giving us readers such wonderful stories to immerse ourselves in.

Hi, I was revisiting your story (again!) and I realize I hadn’t comment on the end of this one, which kind of makes me a bad reader. So first of all, congratulations!!! It is quiet an accomplishment to write such a marathon story! What, 135 chapters if we count both? It is very impressive. I really like your universe and I’ve been kind of using it as a security blanket, constantly re-reading it in the last few months that have been very stressful. I find it comforting because B/J have such a strong relationship in this that we know that whatever happens, everything is going to be ok for them.

In this specific chapter, I must admit I’ve been kind of thrown off by that thing with Melanie. It seems really out of character... I mean, she certainly has her misgivings and can overreact to certain things (especially if she feels out of control or when it touch her competitive strike/insecurities), but over something like that? It is not like her. She’s really big on community spirit, equality and solidarity (and sincerely, not just when it suits her like Lindsay sometimes), so Gus helping a less privileged classmate doesn’t seem like something she could ever reprove, on the contrary... And while not especially warmed about the nephews, she never seemed hostile either. I must admit it confused me a bit.

However, I wasn’t surprise by Ron pitiful letters at all. When we met him, it was obvious to me that he was not ready to put on all the necessary efforts to rebuild his relationship with his sons. He doesn’t even seem to realize the seriousness of his abandonment. But I’m glad that Claire seems to come around and is starting to understand the severity of her actions. She’s not a bad person, merely someone kind of weak and passive and lacking certain ressources (I’m talking more psychological than material here). But those are things that can be developed when a person is ready to take responsibility and work on herself. It won’t be magical and repair everything, but it would be good for the boys if she does.

A thing I think you succeed so well with in your universe is to create interesting original characters (or developing canon minor ones) in a way that makes us care about them, which is not easy to do in fanfiction. I especially like the O’Briens and Kevin. He is such a sweetheart and I love the relationship he developed with Jennifer and also Brian and Justin. It is something that is bringing the Taylor-Kinneys and the O’Briens together in a way that is on the road of making them more family than simple friends. It really shows the power of a child that is different, it’s beautiful. I’m glad Roxane confronted her mother about it, good for her. Their rejection of Kevin is just horrible. Grandparents are supposed to be the ones who find you wonderful for merely existing, not people who judge and discredite you, especially just because a child is different from the others.

Not specifically related to this chapter, I also really love the Nina and Teddy Man storyline. You know, I don’t recall reading any other story where Ted becomes a father. In the way you describe it, it really suits him. It’s beautiful to see his loving and caring nature in this way, both with Nina and Violet, and to see Nina coming out of her shell in this new environment. I can’t wait to see Ted in Disneyland tought. I think it is nearly as improbable/funny as Brian in Disneyland!

I am also curious about the integration of Joe in the family. It will be an interesting shake on things in the Novotny-Horvath house, probably changing the family dynamic. It will be interesting to follow.

Can I dare ending this with a kind of request (or merely suggestion...)? I would really like to also see a more thoroughly storyline for Emmett in a further story. Outside B/J, he is my favorite QAF character. I realize that your story is very family-oriented and Emmett is nowhere in a place to make the decision to have children at this moment of his life (if ever, it’s not necessary that everyone have children!), so I was thinking maybe something related to his family in Hazelhurst? Like a cousin or nephew who runs away from home and come to him for help, either for being gay (or lesbian, or transgender) or for any other reason. That could shake up his life a bit, maybe force him to deal with a part of his past and people he tought he had definitely put behind him. It is really just a tought, feel free to ignore me or do whatever you want with that! I would just really enjoy reading a more important plot about him.

So courage, keep up your good work and I can’t wait to read the next sequel of this story! :)

Author's Response:

Just found this review, so sorry to have ignored it.  You must have posted it when the review notices werem't working.  I'm so happy to know you enjoyed the story.  If I could go back I would elminate the whole Melanie/school thing.  No one semed to like it but it seemed like a good idea at the time, not so much now.  Kevin is a pretty popular character which I think is great.  The problem with all my story is that there is so many characters that is hard to find time to include them all the story.  I like your idea of a family member coming to Em for help.  I hope to have next installment posted soon.  Thanks for you nice long review and I'm sorry not to have respinded sooner.  BIll

mel is stupid she calls herself clever....yeah right. Gus is doing a great thing helping other kids and she says what she said and about paying lol she is a twit.

Lol omg that was brilliant Jennifer really let Craig have it with both Barrels didn’t she. I bet he shit his pants after she left his office. I love how much she cares for the family and protects them all.

I feel for Justin it’s not fair his so called dad treats him like that he is missing out on an amazing family.

poor Joe, his uncle is an ass but I’m so glad he has Debbie and Brian and the gang in his corner, he will go far in like with them by his side.

John and Peter are truly blessed to have Brian and Justin look after them Ron is truly a horrible man and deserves no part in their lives.

Michael is so delusional about Brian and what he thinks Justin did it’s dangerous. I fear he may try something that may end up putting someone in danger.

Mel needs a good slap down not a real slap but a hard reality one. She will only lose out big time if she keeps going how she is.

I am enjoying this story so much, and I'm so glad you've continued it.  The characters are so clear and true, but it's the elements of the story that keep me coming back for more.  I can't wait to see what happens next, and I am really looking forward to Brian being surrounded by Mickey, Minnie, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger too.  Please make that happen! :)  Thank you for writing this.

It was a long wait, I am sorry!!!!!!  I think it might be a new experience for Claire for people to appreciate something she does.  She sure didn't get any encouragement from her parents.  There is a lot of love circulating around this family.  Really happy to know you enjoyed this latest update!!!!!!!   Thanks for taking time to review!  Bill

What a lovely update.  I had a grandmother like grandma Jen.  Now that I am a grandma/ Nana I have so much fun with my granddaughter.  As grandparents it is so much easier than when I was raising my kids.  Love this time of life.  Can't wait for the Disney trip.  We have everyone in the family saving all their change for a Disney trip.  My granddaughter thinks it is so much fun watching the jar fill up.

Author's Response:

Thanks for all the nice comments.  I love the idea of everyone saving their change in the jar and your granddaughter watching the money build up.  That will be a memory she carries through her whole life.  You sound like a fun grandmom!!!  Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Reviewer: YumYumPM (Signed) · Date: December 05, 2017 10:44 PM · On: Chapter 35

It doesn't matter how long your updates take they are soooo worth it.  This one was really nice with Brian and Justin getting some alone time thanks to Jennifer and Tucker.  What's up with Melanie.  I think if an orbitrator got the case she wouldn't come up smelling roses.  Hope that Ben gets to spend more time with JR, he's pretty much the only one who cares for the little girl.  Like John and Peter's take on their letters.  Hope Claire is changing but I don't see her as being able to be responsible for her sons.

Author's Response:

My friend I know I have told you before how much I appreciate all the support you have given my saga from the beginning.  You have made it more fun to write.  I thought B&J deserved a weekend of lust & carnal activities.  Claire has a couple fo years of jail time so J&P will be almost adults by the time she gets out.  Nice that she is finding something positive in life.  She is also a victim of Jack & Joan parenting.  I think J&P are happy to think that Claire is being more realistic view of her life.  Thanks again for all your reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

My dear Sweet Baboo, Santa just gave me my Christmas wish--your chapter. I will never understand when Gus does a good thing in helping others, his mothers act like it's a crime. The bit about the tution was just dumb --Brian and Jus foot the bill for everything when it comes to  Gus. Kevin is such a sweetheart and they didn't want the inter-action between them, Brian has grown so much, loving Jus and Gus just opened up his flood gates. Can't wait for the new story. Hope you have a beautiful Christmas with only wonderful things for the coming year. Your Sally forever

Author's Response:

My Darling Sally, no chapter feels complete to me until I read your review.  Mel & Linds have a unique view of life which seems to not have much basis in reality.  Hopefully Mel's counseling will help her see life as it really is.  If she doesn't straighten up Mother Taylor may have to beat the shit out of her.  I think Brian never knew unconditional love until Gus & Justin appeared in his life, no coincidence it was on the same day.  It was Kismet!!!  I hope you have wonderful holidays and we all have a stupendous 2018!!!   As always, your Sweet Baboo

Great story.  Hope to read the "Taylor-Kinneys do Disney".  That should be fun seeing how Brian handles Disney with all his "boys" including Justin.

Author's Response:

Who would ever think that Brian would plan a trip to Disney.  I think all the "boys" will enjoy Disney, although personally I think Disney is kind of a cult.  All that "have a magical day" kind of gets on my nerves.  Lots of people do really love it.  Thanks for the review, I think of reviews as kind of magical!!!!  Bill

Reviewer: emac66 (Signed) · Date: December 05, 2017 05:04 PM · On: Chapter 35

A bittersweet time. Another ending. *sob*. On a high note, I can now put it onto my kindle and re-read it in it's entirety. (again)

Grandma Jen time is always a joy to read about. It's amazing how far so many of these characters have come. Brian from his troubled past to being the amazing man he is here. Jen coming from a protective mom to someone who loves and accepts Brian completely. The cousins who have wonderful loves ahead of them now.

Mel & Linds seems to have changed very little and apparently the same with Michael. The jury is still out for any hope with those 3. Hopefully we see more of them in future writings. I was kind of expecting a Wasp like smack down of teh girls a la Justin. Perhaps we'll see one at a later date.

The Disney story should be most amusing. Will be intersting to see how Brian is at the magical kingdom. lol. Hopefully he enjoys it as much as the kids will. (Justin is included in the kids there as we all know Justin will be a big kid at Disney. ;) lol )

Loved this!!!!  Congrats on the success of another unbeleivably wonderful part to the series. Definitely one of my all time favorites.

Cheers

Elaine

Hello my friend, I always feel special when I get a review on a non-Monday.  You are always so supportive and I truly appreciate you.  Glad you approve of the way the charactes in the story have developed.  As you point out some have had no positive development at all.  I think you are correct there will be lots of "kids" for Brian to deal with at Disney.  I think as long as his Sunshine & his Sonny Boy are happy he will be happy as well.  I am happy to know you are still enjoying this long saga of mine.  Thanks you so much for the review, you know I LOVE to get them!!!!!!!!    Cheers back to you,  Bill

The only thing missing from this chapter was the beat down Justin is going to give Mel. I kind of want them to go for custody of Gus based on her inability to learn. I can’t wait for Disney mostly because of the absolute certainty there will be no Michael since he was not invited and he has a job he has to go to poor Cynthia...

Hi Sweet Baboo,  Been rereading again, and hope Kevin will written in.Like Grandmom Jen is always saying Kevin is just full of love. Brian and Justin, and the rest of the house hold especially Gus has given Kevin a wonderful extended famly who loves and teaches him many things to like Brian teaching him how to kick a scoccer ball, or Gus helping him with his reading and for all the kindness and love they have shown him, Kevin has given back so much love.I missed reading about the child he makes the lessons they have taught him so important and special. Love you, your Sally

Kevin is in the next chapter for sure.  I am trying my best to get the chapter done.  It will finish Holiday Happening but the sage will go on.  First we will do Disney for Spring break and then time for the twins!!!!!  Always love hearing from you my Darling Sally.  As always, you sweet Baboo

SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!! I know...so late in reviewing. workign up a shit storm lately and then there was Thanksgiving here and I'm going away on Friday. HAve been terribly busy!!

gotta say...Delores is and idjit! Seriously?? she's trying to take on Jennifer?! What a fool. Never mind the fact she tried to actually lecture Jenn re: how she raised Justin? Again...what an idjit! Glad Jenn told Craig off. I highly doubt he'll take anything she says to heart. He seems to be one of those who blames everyone else, and he's perfectly good. Hope he heeds her warning though. could get nasty for him if he doesn't.

The meeting went as I had expected and hoped. joe gets to stay with dev and Carl thankfully. He's far better off there. What a major dick his uncle was! WOW! Glad Brian was there. He tends to go straight for the jugular when he needs to.

Well done!! so happy to see this and finally have time toread it and review.

cheers,

Author's Response:

I understand the work thing.  Been putting on some long hours myself. Delores doesn't realize how Jennifer has grown since she ditched Craig but she found out in a hurry!  Joe will be happy with Deb & carl and the uncle will be happy not having to alter his lifestyle.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter.  Just one more chapter to go for this story. “Molly and I love Justin and we love Brian and they love us.”

That just about says it all for this chapter.  I guess there will

be no more lunches between Craig and Justin.  At least not

without Brian and Jennifer attending.  Well – we can forget that.

I find it strange that after all this time Craig is still holding on to

the thinking that Brian corrupted Justin.  Jennifer explained that

to him how false that is.  I’m sure not for the first time.  She also

stated all the things that Brian has done for Justin.  Craig already

knows them.  Maybe, just maybe, that is the issue for Craig.

Jennifer could have nailed the Craig coffin by added that these

were things Justin’s father should have done, but didn’t.  Could it

be that is reason Craig hates Brian and continues to hold on to

that hate.  Guilt!  Well I think so.

Terrific chapter.  One joy in reading this story is the

relationship between the characters.

Thanks for the chapter and for the wonderful story.

Hello my friend, you are one of my most loyal reviewers and I have appreciated our give & take with reviews more than I can say,  So I hope you take this response in the manner it is intended.  Since I am an Admin here on MW, I am one of the "police" you are unhappy with.  Your comment on Sammy's story was mean.  I know you are a direct person and so am I but there are all kinds of ways to say things and imo you went from direct to mean with that comment.  No one gets paid for writing any of these stories, except with reviews.  I truly understand being frustarted when stories get left unfinished but no one does that to annoy readers.  Sometimes the creative juices just dry up, sometimes life deals people more than they can cope with.  The story you reviewed is indeed "complete" but for whatever reason, I don't know the reason, the sequel was left unfinished.

I am very sorry if my comments cause you to stop reviewing, I would truly hate to not hear from you again.  I think of us as web site friends and I believe "friends" should be honest with one another.  If you were a member I would have shared this privately with you but this is the only way I have to communicate with you.  If you want to reply please feel free to use the "Contact" feature under the "Author" section.  Just chose PA Boi from list and you will see "Contact" next to my name.

I think working for Cynthia may be a turning point for Mikey.  She is of the direct people like us.  As always I thank you for all your support for my story!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Ugh. Brian hiring Micky is going to trigger his delusions being "number one" in Brian's life again, even ahead of Justin and his three sons. I can see him pulling the "best friend" card at work and Brian is going to spend his workdays fixing Micky's messes. Please say he will end up getting his ass fired.

Perhaps hitting bottom (homless) would have scared him into getting a job. He had experience at the Big Q. Now that he's rescued once again, there's no reason for him to change and grow up; he'll be the same entitled jerk as always. Sigh. I love your fic, but it's very frustrating to read when it comes to Mikey.

Also, Mel is being out of character from the previous fic. In the first installment, she was reasonable and even respected Brian. Sorry, but it just seems like you changed her because now that Lindsay got help, you need a new villian.

It's your fic and I'm not telling you to change though. I always look forward to seeing a new chapter pop up.

Author's Response:

I think this job at Kinnetic could be a turning pont for Mikey.  Having Cynthia as a boss could be an eye opener for him.  Of course it could turn out that Cynthia fires him day one!!!  I did sort of pass of Mikey's Big Q experience but he didn't leave there under the best circumstances so there would be no going back there  and, of course, authors like to play fast & loose with facts that don't suit ther stories.  Melanie is frustrated that she made poor decisions and beause of those decisions she has lost full control of her life.  None of us like to admit we f-ed up.  I suspect she will realize she is using Brian as a villain to feel better about herself.  I hope you continue to enjoy the story and I really appreciate hearing the views of my readers - sometimes the readers influence the way the story flows but not always.  Thank you so much for your review and please always let me know when you think I am heading in the wrong direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill

You have to love a bull dog Justin protecting his own.

Author's Response:

Justin is scary enough but if he calls in Grandmom Jen as backup their victim is toast!  Gald you enjpy Justin in protectibe mode, I love writing him that way.

I check every day to see if you have added a new chapter. This one was so full of good stuff. Justin is awesome when passed off. Brian must be nuts to hire Michael. This will end badly .

Author's Response:

Sorry I made you wait so long for this chapter.  I love writing pittbull Justin.  Brian is a softie when people he cares about are in trouble and tears are his Kryptonite.  I believe Cynthia is more than a match for Mikey.  Thanks for taking time to review because i am very shallow and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to get reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill

You left with a cliff hanger! besides I miss you, love your Sally

Author's Response:

Darling Sally, I can't use Kim as an excuse.  I have just been distracted.  The good news is I sold my house so I no longer have a garden to putter in.  The bad news is that doesn't mean I have spent that extra time writing.  The very good news is that the new chapter will be posted later tonight or tomorrow.  I am sorry for the delay, I hope this doesn't mean I am no longer your Baboo???????????????????????????

I love this story.  It's great to have things to relax with where people can read about happy sucessful LGBTQ+ familes and their friends.  I also love all the realistic touches about both being in the LGBTq+ Community as well as the area where they live.

I hop you update soon and keep it oging for many more chapters

My Sweet Baboo, Sorry I'm late reviewing, but I had problems with my laptop.Instead of showing secuirty numbers there was just a little x there. I finally was able to contact Bob and he emailed me a solution. I appreciate his kindness. Now for Ron Townsend, please hurry and write the chapter that gets rid of him and his idiot cousin! After reading about them all I want is a hot shower. No doubt his moron cousin found out how wealthy Brian is and being a con artist decided after ten years he loved his sons-baloney I was surprised and pleased that Joan would not support or pay for Ron's lawyer. It must of been hard to make that call to Brian and eating crow. She told him the truth about Ron and she knew the boys were doing well in school and loved their uncles and for him to stop Ron and even wished them all a happy new year, must have been hard on the old girl, but she did the right thing. Love You, Sally

Author's Response:

My darling Sally, I knew we were having an issue with anonymous reviews.  I think it had to do with our increased security.  We were having an issue with SPAM reviews.  Some people have too much time on their hands!   I believe you are a member of the web site.  If you signed in you wouldn't have to do the security numbers, if you forgot your password, you can request a reset.

Really happy to see your review, I always look forward to hearing from you.  Ron is pretty despicable!  He wanted his sons for what they could do to help him, not what he could do FOR them.  Even Joan could see Ron was a worse choice as guardian.  She is happy that Alice & Charlie are "good Christians".  Not exactly a resounding endorsement of B&J but a huge concession on Joan's part.  I have traveling on the east coast and visiting friends but hope to have next chapter done soon.  As always Love from your sweet Baboo.

It's so heartwarming to see the love John and Peter have for their uncles and how Brian and Justin return that love. And, wow, how good to see that Justin and Brian have become well-respected within the community.

Joanie is almost 'enlightened' in this chapter, lol, at least as much as she's ever likely to become. Hilarious line to conclue this chapter!

As usual, I'm already looking forward to the next installment. :)

~Karynn

Author's Response:

I think after all that has happened to them John & Peter appreciate the life they have with B&J.  Even Joanie knows Rob is not a good choice to raise John & Peter.  It was a huge endorsement of B&J but she relized Ron would be worse.  Thanks for the reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Ron just seems to see things differently.  He really thought

that just because he is their father they would go with him.  You

know, if Claire didn’t do what she did and continue to treat the

boys as badly that she did, I wonder if they would see things

differently. What if Brian and Justin didn’t take over.  Ron doesn’t

seem to be cruel or abusing.  As I said, he is just different.

This situation brings to mind what happened many chapters

ago.  John was playing soccer and there  in the stands was Justin,

Brain and the family there to watch him play. It was written beautifully, as maybe for the first time, he was not alone.  He was

part of a family, if not biologically but affectionately.

To use the expression,  these people ‘were there for him’. How

much was that worth to John.  Everything!  So of course John

wants no part of Ron.  John has people around who care for him,

who love him.  He has it all

   DavidR

Author's Response:

I agree that Ron has a unique way of looking at things.  John & Peter did not lick out with their parents.  I think they appreciate B&J all the more because of their bad expieriences with Claire.  I think they realize a father who abandons them for 10 years is not a winnner.  Ron looks at how the boys could help him, nothing about how he could make up to them for all the years he was gone.  John & Peter have been embraced by the entire household and family - B&J, Grandmom Jen, Alice & Charlie as well as friends.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter!!!!  Thanks for the review!!!!  Bill

I'm finally carving out a little time to catch up on the Taylor Kinney family. Love the way Gus curls up with his daddies and feels so protected for the night. <3

Justin firmly puts Lindsay in her place in regard to the mural, and she reaps the benefits of acting rationally when she sees Brian. I can't help worrying a bit that she's going to backslide...

Something tells me that Joe will end up a member of the extended family. Can't wait to see if I'm right. :) Your portrayal of Joe's uncle is very realistic - not a bad man but also not prepared to give up his lifestyle for his nephew.

Ugh. Ron. Just ugh. I don't think he'll get anywhere in his efforts to pry his sons away from Brian and Justin, not after disappearing for years without a word.

I'll have to set aside some time later today to read the next chapter. Thanks so much for continuing this fascinating saga.

~Karynn

Author's Response:

Gus loves the time he spends with B&J, so different from life with the Moms.  Justin usually has no trouble standing up for what he thinks is right.  There may be a spot for Joe within the extended family.  Thanks for saying you thought my portrayal of Joe's Uncle was realistic!!!  Ron is not a very smart or nice person.  He is out of his league with B&J.  Thanks for the review, you know I love them!!!!!!!!  Bill

I was pretty shocked that Joan stood up for Brian and Justin like she did. I was imagineing them joining forces to make life hell for the boys. thankfully she had that time at the house to see how happy the boys are. she may not agree with their "way of life" as she puts it, but she's learning to put that part aside and see the hear of the matter. What is really best for the boys.

Not sure what ron had in mind to do, especially if teh police hadn't shown up. Good thing Peter called and they came immediately. I wouldn't put it passed him to try and take the boys. His intentions with them are horrendous! He basically wants them for slave labour! Well...let's hope he doesn't try anything that will hurt the boys. Brian and Justin are going to keep a close eye on them now I'm sure. I don't trust Ron as far as I can throw him. He and his cousin I'm sure will stop at nothing. their concerns has nothing to do with being in teh same house as "fags" as they put it. It's that he want control of the boys. I'm curious as to what Annabell will find out with the investigator.

Deb of course takes control of joe. Has him placed in her house dispite his arguments. A bit of give and take there obviously. Poor guy...Astro man wallpaper adn sheets etc. LOL. I'd fight that too.

Happy Monday! thank you for this update! Was so happy to see it.

Cheers,

Elaine

Author's Response:

Well now I am sure it is Monday!!!   Hi Elaine, I think even Joan could see how dismal a guardian Rn would make for John & Peter.  She didn't exactly give a unqualified endorsement to B&J just they were better than Ron.  Ron is clueless enough to think his sons would be happy to see him after ten years.  He supposed they would be happy to go with him.  Ron and his cousin are lucky they didn't really anger Alice.  I'm sure there was hot sauce in her car.  I don't think Anabel or her investigator will find anything good about Ron and his life in Alaska.  He is a super loser!  Deb & Joe could be interesting.  We'll have to see what his Uncle thinks about that arrangement.  Carl still has to be consulted as well.  Deb has kept Joe a secret from her resident policeman since Joe was a runaway.

Thanks for the review, I always enjoy your comments!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Love that Joan is supporting Brian and Justin having custody of the boys.  Ron Townsend had better pack up and go back to Alaska.

Author's Response:

I think Joan is more vetoing Ron rather than supporting B&J.  She has enough sense to see what a disaster Ron would be as a father.  I keep thinking about a line from the Paul Simon song "Fifty ways to leave your lover" but I change the words to "get on the bus Ron".  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill

Joan being on Brian's side is a complete surprise, to me and to the boys.  It's about time she did the right thing.  Debbie taking Joe in is no surprise either.  I hope Joe will be happy there.

Dee Dee

Author's Response:

He Dee Dee, not sure Joan is so much on Brian's side as she is opposed to Ron Townsend.  She knows that being with Ron would not be good for John & Peter.  We have to see how Joe likes living with Debbie and what his uncle thnks about that arrangement.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter.  Thanks for the review, I do love to hear from the readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

OMG OMG OMG another chapter and really soon after the last one I may need a few minutes for my heart to stop racing from the excitement of seeing this. Ok deep breath I knew Ron would get nowherewith those boys though I admit to being shocked Joan was unwilling to assist him, but I get it she was more unwilling to bankroll him then anything. Peter is such a smart kid calling 911 the moment he felt unsafe although I think he also knew or remembered in the back of his head Alice knew a lot of the Sheriff's so the odds were they were going to help Alice and him and John over the man claiming to be his father. I love that John and Peter both said they were happy where they were had no interest in going anywhere and that they had changed their name to Kinney that was the best part.

Joe:  oh is he going to love living with Deb yikes and that Uncle may have to do more than boarding school.

The murals I was 100% positive Lindsay would try to do more than Justin assigned I am betting she still might we need some angst there and I have no idea why I want it but I do.

I was so happy to find this chapter and not to beg but I need a baby update and shouldn't Justin be designing their nursery. I can't wait for more and another this month would be amazing ok done begging for now...

Author's Response:

Let's not forget that it was a longer than usual chapter too!!!!  Even Joan can recognize what a scumbag Ron is.  It doesn't seem like they ever got along even when he & Claire were married.  Peter probably did remember Alice reading the riot act to the deputies that came to the house in reponse to Joan's phone call.  Joe and Debbie and we can't forget Carl ,that would be an interesting household for sure.  We'll have to see what happens with the Uncle.  The murals aren't finished yet.....

I agree we do need a baby update.  I get myself off on tangents and it is good to remind me to get back to important stuff.  I hope to have another chapter posted this month but I can't promise anything.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter.  Thanks for the review!!!!!!  Bill

It's a surprise have Joan on the boys side but at least she has her grandson's best interest at heart. (There's hope for her yet - maybe!!!!) The boys and all the family are strong, they will weather this disturbance as well. I am curious what Ron is up to - 10 years is a long time to ignore his sons and then come and get them just because they are living with 2 gays. Got to be more going on. Looking forward to more as always.

Author's Response:

Joan found someone she thought was worse than B&J for her grandsons.  Happy you enjoyed this chapter.  Ron thinks his sons may be useful to him, he is not a nice person.  Thanks for all your support, I am always happy to see your reviews!!!!  Bill

Today I have been able to catch up on the last two chapters.

The interaction between B & J, and the Nephews and Gus was fun

to read.  There is this affection and joy between the five of them

that that is so wonderfully written.  I don’t think there is a happier

boy than Gus.  Hanging out with his older male cousins, who treat

him with affection and respect, makes him so very happy.  Add

Brian and Justin, and Gus has it all.

So what happened?.  Towsend happened.  After all this time, I

don’t know why he shows up.  I wonder what he wants.  I have no

idea, though the only thing I could guess is money. We will see.

Thanks for the last two chapter and of course, thanks for the

story.

Hi, Bill!  Finally had a chance to sit down and write a review.  As always, such an engaging, wonderfully detailed chapter.  Favorite things in this one were the romantic, sexy moments with B & J, and Justin with Gus.  I love him calling him Papa, BTW!

That last part was a big, angsty surprise! But now I can't wait to see how it pans out. Surely a judge wouldn't hand these boys back, but he IS their biological father, which can be hard to beat.

Looking forward to your next chapter, my friend!  Thank you for this story, and for all the help you give us.  XOXO  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi My Sweet Baboo! I've missed you-lots. Well good old Ron shows up, too bad he's such a loser. He doesn't ask about the boys, just that they BELONG to him. Hopefully he doesn't have the money for a lawyer. The boys are doing so good and love their family I think he's probably more intrested in Brian and Justin's bank balance than in John or Peter, so much for the scum of the earth. About Joe, he didn't exactly strike oil in the dad department either. Maybe Debbie will step in and find another lost boy--the boy needs love and caring and as crazy as she is Joe trusts her and he needs family to love him. This was a chapter worth waiting for. Love you, Sally

Author's Response:

My Darling Sally, sorry to have been away from you for so long! Ron has had contact with John & Peter for 10 years. I don't think they will be anxious to see him. He traveled across the country by bus, I don't think Ron has much moiney to spend on a lawyer.  I suspect you may be xorrect abouy bank balances! Porr Joe, his is kind of alone in the world.  Just the type to appeal to Debbie, we'll have to see what happens there.  Happy to know you enjoyed the chapter after waiting for so long!!!  Always makes me smile to see your review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I remain your sweet & loving Baboo.

Dee Dee

Author's Response:

Thanks for being so nice about the long wait for an update.  Happy to know this chapter put a smile on your face,  I don't think B&J would give up the boys without a fight.  So not in favor of boarding school for Joe?  We'll have to see what happens there.  Justin usually has no problem standing up for what he believes is the right thing to do.  Thanks for taking time to review, love hearing from the readers!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Seeing a new chapter just made my week!! And it did not disappoint. I love how close Brian and Justin are with Gus and the nephews. I can't wait for the twins to be added to the mix. It was nice to know what's happening with Joe, and what's going on between John and Patrice. I was wondering about her the past couple of chapters. Lindsay seems to finally be catching on to when she's overstepped her boundaries, at least one can only hope. And then there's the newest twist...Evil Ron #2. I look forward to what you've got up your sleeve for the next chapter. Great update!!

Author's Response:

Glad I made your week better and you enjoyed the latest installment of this long saga of mine.  Gus really loves spending time with his cousins, Papa & Daddy and the feelings are mutual.  I think now that Peter is less dependent on his big brother, John enjoys spending time with Gus.  Peter likes to teach people and Gus likes getting math lessons form his cousin.  I wasn't ready for romance so John & Patrice get a timeout.  It sis nice to control my little universe.  If Lindsay forgets about boundaries again Justin will be there to remind her!  I suspect Ron is going to make himself a big pain in the butt.  Thanks for all the kind comments and for the review.  I LOVE reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill

Can't believe I missed this update.  It's really good, what with a couple of trees falling down.  lol.  I'm glad that Justin was able to get Lindsay to see reason about the murals.  So Joe has an uncle, but Deb isn't too happy that the guy isn't willing to drop everything and be there for Joe.  Then you have John and Peter's sperm donor show up demanding that his sons go to Alaska to be with him.  What is it in there for him?  Talking to a lawyer is going to be pricey.

Author's Response:

Don't worry my friend, I just posted this last night.  Always happy to hear from Midnight Whispers' number one reviewer.  I had trees fall in my yard in the middle of the night so that came from real life.  What do we think Deb is going to do about this mildly concerned uncle, stay tuned.  Ron is kind of an evil sperm donor who is going up against the master sperm sharer, Brian.  I don't think it will be a fair fight.  Ron needs to avoid anything that is pricey.  He needs to have the bus fare to get back to Alaska.  Thank, as always for your review.  I never feel a chapter is complete until I read your review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Happy Hump Day! Celebrating the mid week slump with an update! YAY! Happy dance. Really glad that RL seems to be easing up for you a bit. Unselfishly so that you can finally sit and breathe, relx and not stress out with day to day shit. I mean it's always there, but if it's eased a bit for you, that's always a good thing. Selfishly......more updates!!!!!!!!! LOL! ;) I swear, with this story as well as a few others, it's a bit of an addiction! Mind you, it's one that I'm really NOT willing to get help for. :)

John and Justin's  interactions while making a meal was nice to see. John is definitely showing his comfort level with B&J but being so open with them. Talking to Justin about his "girlfriend" issues, and Justin just listening just proves how far John has come. How trusting he is, and how Justin understands the need to just listen.

Also love that John and Peter allow gus to help, and even encourage it. It lets Gus feel like he's a big boy, helping his cousins, it will inevitably give him a sense of responsibility that he can use more and more as he gets older. Brian and Justin may be very generous, but they don't let any of those 3 get away with behaving like spoiled brats. They expect them to be giving and encourage a generous heart. They're teaching them that nothing should just be given, but earned. The fact that all 3 boys seem to enjoy most of their responsibilites, shows that they will grow up to be fantastic young men and not take things for granted.

Oh poor gus getting so scared in the middle of teh night like that. He knows that he's secure and safe with his dads. Have to admit, would've scared the crap out of me as well! Thankfully not too much damage done.

Hopefully Zelda doesn'tdiscourage the friendship between Gus and Dylan. she seemed ok with Lindsey adn Mel's relationship, but seemed awkward with regards to Justin and Brian's. Perhaps it's just initial not understanding it idea of it, adn will realized there's nothing to worry about. Many people think that 2 women are OK, but 2 men are a threat or deviants or soemthing.

Interesting background re: joe. Probably all stuff he's unaware of. I get that his uncle isn't prepared to be a father figure to Joe, that he wants to keep his normal routine with his career. It would be a huge change, and something that many wouldn't be willling to do either. At least he was makign an attept to find Joe, to let him know about what's going on, that he has money and doesn't have to live on the streets. That he's OK with being an uncle, but that's about it. At least he doesn't seem to be trying to pilfer Joe's money. curious to see what's going to happen with Joe now. Boarding school or will B&J find themselves with an addition to their household? Or perhasp Deb will. she's certainly taken a shine to him.

Seeing a spark of the old Lindsey attitude. Not sure if it's a bad thing though. It's just a matter of finding the balance between being docile and being as wel...psychotic as she was. She's seeing the strides she's making with everyone, particularly Brian. I guess it's a matter of time before we see if it's permanant. Hopefully she doesn't revert back.

Now...as for this Ron Townsend guy. He hsa no idea what he's in for as far as a legal battle is concerned. He's moaning about having no money, how he's barely making ends meet, but wants the boys. I guess he's thinking that B&J will provide for them? Pfffffft. How did he find out about them living with them though? Has Claire been in touch? Joan? Is it just the fear of the boys "becoming gay" that has him coming to get them or is there a different motivation?

Again, thrilled for the update, but now I really want to know what's going to happen now! lol. Sorry for the novel length review. In a chatty mood I guess. That's what you get for staying away for so long! lol

Cheers,

Elaine

Author's Response:

Elaine, my friend, you get the award for the longest review.  I know you really paid attention to this chapter!!  Glad you liked the John & Justin cooking interlude.  You got just what I was trying to portray, thank you.  I actually got woken up a couple years ago by trees falling into my yard.  I didn't have any Daddy or Papa to run to.  The top of the trees touched the house but h=no damage was done.  I think Zelda just didn't think about the situation and was embarressed. Hmmmm Joe living with Deb & Carl????????????  I think it is good that Lindsay is getting back to normal.  She has Justin to keep her in line.  Ron has no money, Brian & Justin have lots of money, might be 100% paternal concern that has Ron revisitng the steel city.  Thank you for all your support I think I enjoyed your review as much as you enjoyed this update.  You know I love to hear from the readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cheers,  Bill

I'm still waiting unpatiently for every new chapter!!

And now this new turn...

For me that is still one of the best stories here.

Thank you!

Author's Response:

Sorry to make you wait so long! Thanks for the kind comments, I am really flattered. I am glad you are still enjoying this long saga. Thanks for taking time to review, I LOVE to get reviews!!!!! Bill

Great chapter! I actually cheered aloud when Justin stood his ground for the kids' wants against Lindsay. I guess she has now learned that Sunshine can become a Storm Cloud real quick when he wants to.

As for that punkass Ron Townsend (I swear what is it with the damn Rons in this fic... first Peterson and his foolery and now enter Fool von Fool Townsend)... I can understand what had made him so attractive to Joan and Claire. After all, like recognizes like and sadly that statement definitely extends to bigotry. I wonder if Joan is the 'cousin' that wrote to him. It sounds just like something her backbiting ass would do. I find it strange that although he claims to not have much money that he would want to take on two growing teens while he already has a wife and two other mouths to feed. Hmmm something is definitely rotten in the milk, especially with the timing of it all. Is it that he expects Brian to support him and his growing family since I'm fairly certain he did it for Claire in a roundabout way when she was with the Ass from Alaska? He knows that Brian wouldn't see his nephews starve no matter his feelings about their mother and offspring. Yeah... something is just not adding up about his motives and I don't buy that 'I don't want you turning them into faggots' excuse either. Whereas those may be his definitive opinions, there has to be more to it than that. Well I look forward to reading about his ass being kicked back to Moose Fuck in the coming chapters!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS

Author's Response:

Hi NW, Lindsay can't help being selfish. I agree with Justin the kids should have what they want. He worked with them to be sure the murals met their wishes.

It is kind of funny that Ron T showed up all of the sudden.  There is a song that says "money makes the world go around".  I wonder if money make Ron Towsend go around the country. He may have bitten off more than he knows with both Brian & Justin working against him.  At the very least Ron owes a shitload of back child support.  He doesn't seem to be especially bright.  Thanks for taking time to review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Hugs back to you,  Bill

Wow!!!! A new chapter and it's a really good one. Where to start first I guess at the house with the boys. John and Justin cooking and talking was sweet and allows Justin to find out what is going on with John without really trying to pull it out of him which no teenager likes. John and Peter including Gus both in games and meal setup makes him feel like a big boy.

Lindsay will never learn Justin is not the pushover everyone except Brian knows he isn't. Murals can change or be painted over Justin knows this Lindsay is learning.

Who is going to take in Joe although boarding school might be fine as long as his Uncle visits and calls and emails. If he is just going to stick him school and walk away then there must be a better solution.

Ron Townsend I think you might be safer if you hope back on that bus now because the wrath of Brian and Justin will be too much for you to ever handle. Or he and Joan can form a club oh wait that's where your going ooooooooh now I get it. Joan was just biding her time waiting for John and Peter's daddy to show up. Sneaky you have had his hiding for a while and then you took a 2 month break just to spring this on us.

As a bonus for being patient (hiding head. never patient here) can we get another chapter or 2 this month because you know I need to see how fast Ron runs to Joan.

Author's Response:

Sorry to make you wait so long for an update but happy to know you enjoyed this chapter.  John & Peter are very good to Gus who loves spending time with his "big boy" cousins.  Justin had no problem letting Lindsay know who was in charge of the murals.  He is determined to give Gus & JR what they want.  Joe's Uncle doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in spending time with his nephew.  He wants to do his "duty" but doesn't want to give up his career.  We'll have to see how things work out for Joe.  On the surface it doesn't seem like Joan & Ron have much in common except they both want to "rescue" John & Peter from the preverted clutches of Brian & Justin.  Who knows what those two will get up to.

My "2 month break" involved bad cold, new job, selling my house and moving.  I wasn't on a tropical island sipping fruity cocktails.  Now that RL has settled down I expect to update more frequently.  Thanks for being so loyal about reviewing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Really like this whole story and love your writing style.  ( enjoyed sickness & health too!)  Hope next update isn't too far away.  Very new to the whole QAF US fandom ( Less than 1 year) But well into it!

Usually only read completed stories, as have found myself starting to read & got disapointed when found WIP's or months between updates.  So as I like your stuff, thought a review might help!!

Keep up the good work,

Deb (in UK )

Ok know it's mean, but please make Saint joan come a cropper some time soon & Mikey & Lindsay too!

Author's Response:

Hi Deb, really happy to kmow you are enjoying my long saga.  I apologize for my delayed update but RL has occupied me a lot lately.  I have a bad cold, started a new job and sold my house so I am busy packing and arranging things for the move!  I'm sure you don't really care but want you to know I am committed to the story and working on the next chapter as much as I can.  Lots of ideas so the saga will continue.  I am feeling kind of soft hearted about Linds but Saint Joan & Mikey don't have a lot of good stuff coming their way.  Thank you so muck for your review!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE to hear from the readers and welcome suggestions, even if I don't always comply with the suggestions.  Hope you continue to enjoy the story and look forward to hearing from you again in the future!!  Bill

Sweet Baboo, your being naughty, I would never desert you, you stories bring me so much pleasure.I was reading the''Whisper are as loud as a Shout'' I noticed you were also reading and reviewing, I kind of got hung up reading about mikey being a dumb ass and of course Linz lost of reality. It took me forever to read and respond, your chapters move so quickly and it's easy to keep up with new added characters like Joe, I really enjoy how Gus told his daddies to give him less presents at Christmas and to help Joe as he didn't have a home or much to eat or anyone to care about him. Gus has so much insight and so sweet. I thought Joe's thank you note to Gus showed. what kind of person Joe really is. As much as I liked MissMerlot's story all the foreign language slowed the story down I'm used to you being really articulate and paceing your story along .Your Sally is going nowhere.

Author's Response:

Darling Sally, I was just concerned when I didn't hear from you as soon as you usually review.  I have been kind of busy and haven't been able to keep up with reading Miss Merlot's story.  I do look forward to your comments and appreciate all your support for this long saga of mine.   Gus is a sweet little boy.  I think he gets his care for other people from his Daddy,  Thanks as always my Darling Sally for you kind review!!!!

I remain your sweet Baboo.

Thanks for this heartwarming addition to your story! I'm celebrating my birthday with a combo of beta-ing, writing, and reading - and this hit the spot for reading. I'm still grinning at the magical powers of Justin's stomach. :D

Good to see the Petersons get their just desserts - small wonder that Lindsay had to struggle to overcome such an upbringing.

I sense good things ahead for Joe, with some help from Debbie, Gus, Brian, and Justin. What a gutsy kid! He deserves to have his life take a turn for the better. <3

Author's Response:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Glad I could contribute to your enjoyment of the day and hope for many more happy birthdays for you.  It is really neat that Justin's stomach has the ability to restore electricity.  Jennifer did her best to make the Petersons uncomforable and seems to have been sucessful.  I think Joe's story will have a happy ending.  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Hi my Sweet Baboo, chapter was wonderful. I would have loved to have seen Brian doing snow angels,it's like the trains for the first time, because of Justin and Gus he gets to be a little boy , things we didn't get a chance to do when he was little. I'm glad Gus can talk with his papa about a bully and how his parents told him that Gus's cousins were going to an orphanage. I can see how upset  and worried Gus would be.As for the Petersons are as delusonal as mikey and Linz. Can't wait for the twins! Your Loving Sally

Author's Response:

Darling Sally, so happy to hear from you.  I was a little worried you had abandoned the story when I didn't see your review.  Happy to know you have not deserted me.  I think you are correct, Brian enjoys being a little boy with Gus.  Most of the time it is more adult activities he enjoys with Justin.  Gus feels secure enjoy with his Daddy & Papa to share any concerns he has which is a great thing.  The Petersons are loathsome and should try very hard to avoid running into Jennifer in the future.  Glad you are still enjoying this saga.  Always happy to heard from you!!!!  your sweet Baboo

This was a really entertaining chapter.  I was chuckling over Justin and his "boyscout" instructions.  How cute that Gus feels so safe with his two Dads.  Loved the way Justin took charge during the power outage.  He and Brian make a great team and are doing such a great job raising the boys.

Author's Response:

Happy to know you enjoyed the latest chapter.  Kind of ironic that Justin couldn't be involved with the boy scouts in real life.  Gus can always depend on his Dads to be there when he needs them.  I agree that B&J make a great team.  Thanks for taking time to review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

so glad to see an update on this story.  I imagine you've had a few outages in your time; the description of preparedness are quite good.  Loved that everyone slept togheter on the main floor.

Author's Response:

Glade you are still wnjoying this saga.  It is wind storm here in the Pacific Northwest that causes our power outages.  The worst was 4 days long, the fun was over by the third day.  Thanks for the review, I love to get them!!!  Bill

I did a happy dance to see this update.  I just love the way Jennifer acted towards the Petersons.  Molly is just like her mom, tells it like it is  I am happy Joe finally confided in Deb.  Now that Brian is working on it, I am sure things will turn out great.  I just love this family you created.

Author's Response:

Hi Dee Dee, Jennifer is fierce and Molly has learned at her knee.  Joe picked a good person to trust.  Debbie will make sure no one takes advantage of him and she has Brian's money to back her up.  Thanks for the nice comments; I am happy to know you are enjoying this saga!  I love to hear from the readers so I did a happy dance when I saw your review!!!!!!  Hope you continue to enjoy the story  Bill

This was excellent! I loved reading about the preparations for the snow storm and all that happened related to the storm. Justin's preparations were in keeping with his PSA persona. Glad to see that Jennifer was in top form in her take down of Nancy and Ron. And, the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Molly dispatched Ron quite handily. I'm very interested to see what happens with Joe and I'm glad that he decided to trust Debbie and that Brian has the investigation going. It was nice of Joe to write a note to Gus. Enjoyed Gus all through this story. He is adorable. And, of course, all the B&J moments. Thanks and looking forward to the next update.

Author's Response:

You are correct Justin, AKA Mr PSA, had everything organized for the loss of electricity.  It turned out to be a fun adventure for everyone instead of a problem.  Jennifer takes no prisoners when she she is dealing with people who cause problems.  I love her!!!  Molly is learning from the best.  Joe seems like a nice kid who has had some bad luck.  Debbie is going to be looking out for his best interests.  Glad you are enjoying this saga.  Thank you so much for the review, I LOVE reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

It was nice that Gus felt he could ask his dads anything.  And they always answered honestly.  It looks like Jen's talk with Maria and Earl are going to cost the Petersons.  It was nice of Joe to write a thank you to Gus.  Better is his trusting Deb.  Hopefully Brian's detective will be able to help Joe.  Lights out turned into fun for the Kinney Clan.  Great chapter.

Author's Response:

Hello my friend, I never really feel like an update is complete until I read your comments.  You have been such a great support for this story from the beginning and I appreciate it.  Gus loves his Daddy & Papa and feels safe in confiding in them.  Joe picked a good person to trust, Debbie will look out for him. Checks the calendar....yup, it's Wednesday. what a hump day treat! YAY!!

Another feel good chapter. It's like a balm to the soul. I loved how gus felt so comfortable talking to his dads. His questions about what happened with Claire were totally plausible, just sad that it came out the way it did. He has such trust in B&J that he's content with the explanation and won't bring it up again, especially knowing it could possibly upset his cousins.

HAe I said often enough that I love Jenn in this. hehe. she always has the boy's back. That little confrontation at the restaurant was actually pretty funny. Could totally see it in my mind's eye. Ron and Nancy never seem to do themselves any favours do they. Now they up teh creek without a paddle as far as selling their house is concerned. *insert evil chuckle* Add to that their more than likely limited circle of friends may just be getting even smaller.

And Joe. considering all he's gone through, he seems to be a fine young boy. Hopefully between the help that Deb and Brian will provide, never mind the others, I think we may just find Joe becoming a welcome addition to another strong family. Brian and Justin definitely have their hands full, but I wonder if they'll be taking on another? Maybe even Deb perhaps? Whoever it may be, I'm sure he'll find himself safe and secure in the near future and that his past, while it may need to be dealt with, won't come back to hurt him.

Lovely family time during the blackout. Made a possibly scary situation for Gus, a fun and cozy time for them all. thank goodness for Justin's preparedness.

As always, a joy to read. All the finite details just add to it. I kind of felt like beingsnuggled up with a comfy blanket as I read this. Sadly I'm sitting at my desk at the office, but I can at least pretend right?

Thank you for this!!

Cheers,

Elaine

Author's Response:

I am very impressed to get a non Monday review!!!  You always have such nice things to say about the story, your reviews are like a balm to my soul.  It is great that Gus has so much faith in his fathers and he doesn't internalize his problems.  I do really love my Jennifer so I'm glad that you do also.  She might have been unhappy to see the Petersons but they were much more unhappy to see her!!  Anything unpleasant that happen to Ron & Nancy is a good thing.  RE: Joe, you might just be doing a little mind reading.  I thought the blackout turned into a fun time.  They kind of are fun, as long as tey don't last too long.  Once a windstorm knocked out my electric for four days and I can assure you the fun faded by the second day!!!!!!!  Thank you for being such a faithful reviewer!!  Reviews are what keeps me writing this saga.  Bill

Heartwarming chapter, this felt so good! Even without electricity, the family stick together and they have their backs. And Tino has stepped forward - I feel so sorry for his desperation. He just needs a surrogate family!

While January 20th was a nightmare-came-true-day, this might be a chapter  a lot of Americans need: Unity, solidarity, fairness and love. Sorry for relating to political issues, we germans are all just devastated.

It´s nice to connect with decent people across the ocean! Thank you so much

Author's Response:

Hello Julia, so nice to hear from you; it has been a while.  If the current election results made you post these comments, at least something good came out of it.  We don't want to be too political here but I will just say I live on the west coast and this is NOT a pro Trump area.  I feel your devastation.  Hopefully there are enough decent people in Congress to keep too much bad from happening.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter and I feel things will be OK with this country and the world.  Bill

Yeah finally a new chapter. Did I tell you I reread the earlier story and this one while waiting for more.  I like that Gus feels safe enough to tell his fathers what is happening at school because he knows they will help him understand why people say what they do. Allowing Gus just enough information to move past what was said without scaring him. I like that Joe finally confided in Deb I hope that brings him something good like a safe place to live. You know this my favorite kind of chapter just Brian and Justin living their lives even with the snow storm and the power outage the normal every day stuff of being a family. I can't wait until the babies are added to the mix it will make it even more exciting. By the way why don't Brian and Justin have a generator I think they may need one especially with babies coming.

Author's Response:

I have to get better about updating, sorry to make you wait so long.  I am always very impressed, and extremely flattered, to hear that anyone rereads this long saga.  Gus knows his fathers will always look out for him.  It is good that he tells them what is bothering him and doesn't keep it inside and fret about things.  I think things just might work out for Joe.  I did think of you when I was writing the last part of this chapter and think you would enjoy B&J and the boys just hanging out together.  I thought about them having a generator but I thought a fireplace adventure was more fun.  Thanks for the review, I always appreciate your support!!  Bill

Hi Sweet Baboo, I have no idea where "Lucy" came from! All the best women's magazines assured me that the first to go were the boobs would touch my toes, then when I would get up one morning I would hear a thud-my butt hitting the floor, then watch out for falling cheeks to become ugly jowls, I thought fleeing thoughts were a bit farther down on the list--now my magazines are being mean and lie to me, I will always be your loving SALLY.

Happy New Year! My Sweet Baboo: I've missed your writing, but know you were busy like all of us. Hope you had a nice Christmas. This chaper was wonderful from the trains to the party I doubt Brian ever had a train and was as giddy as Gus about the wonderful set-up. I was also happy Claire had remembered the boys with a present and a nice letter. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselfs except the "doom and gloom" boy. mikey is jealous of even a child-he needs a few less invites until he can act like a grown up in a company setting. Kevin was adorable and Brian and Justin made everyone feel welcome to their home.Ted and Blake and Viola fit in so well, and Mark finds out how a family works. I don't think Brian even paid that much attention to the dumb ass(mikey) he had the family and friends and co workers in their home and gave his son a wonderful time, now we wait for the babies to appear and of course everyone is excited, except mikey who justs sees less time with Brian and  as always that's Justin's fault. You did good and as always worth waiting for. Your Lucy

Author's Response:

Lucy????  How incestuous of you.  Is this something different for the new Year!  I prefer you as my Darling Sally!!!!  RL has been busy for me, even without the holidays, but I am sorry to make you wait for this chapter.  I agree that I think Brian enjoyed the trains as much as his Sonny Boy.  Gus's delight just added to Brian enjoyment of the trains.  Poor Mikey is stuck in his teens with a Brian crush he can't seem to shake.  The best we can say is we can rely on him to act badly.  Everyone enjoyed the party, especially Gus with his assistant train engineers.  Brian has had plenty of practice at ignoring Mikey's actions.  I remain Sally's sweet Baboo

     Thanks for the chapter.

Michael is in deep trouble.  I don’t think anything short of

therapy can help him.  Nice to see some good things about Claire.

So she is beginning to take some responsibility for her actions.

Then again what she did was terrible, not just a few minor

mistakes.

The family has surrounded John and Peter with love and

support that they needed.  I don’t know where Claire fits in.  Sady,

the story of Claire and her embroidery shows us that Joan not just

misguided, but a mean Joan S. O. B.  Basically, she is simply

unforgivable.

Christmas was great.  There was so many people who were

happy to be where they were, with people they truly liked.  That

came through to us readers.  It was one of those feel good

chapters, and I did feel good reading it.  So thanks!

    DavidR

Author's Response:

Hello my freind, hope you had nice holidays and best wishes for the new year!!  Happy to know that you enjoyed the latest chapter.  I think it would take really intense therapy to help Mikey see the world more realistically.  It appears Claire is starting to realize she has made some significant mistake in her life.  Joan is a nasty piece of work, some people should NOT become parents.  Thanks for all your support, I always look forward to your comments!!!!!!   Bill

Thanks for the update on everyone's lives! I know you'll always come through with an update when RL permits. :)

It's so very heartwarming to see the strong family ties for the Christmas holiday, both in the immediate Taylor-Kinney family and the extended family (into which I'm pretty much lumping everyone).

I wouldn't mind playing with that train set myself - under Gus' supervision, of course.

That Christmas feast sounds scrumptious. I'd be digesting until the new year!

I guess Michael's good for comic relief, with the way he follows Brian around. Some people never get a clue. LOL

Author's Response:

Hi Karyann, Happy you enjoyed the latest chapter, sorry it took so long to post the update but RL can be a distraction.  I don't think anyone has a chnace to get near the trains unless Gus is at his mothers' house.  I like to think of Mikey as unchanging, someone we can always depend on to do the wrong thing.  Thanks for the review!!!!!   Bill

So happy to see this new chapter! As always, I loved all the details you include. It was nice to see Nina and Viola's Christmas with Ted and Blake. Ted is such a good father--his realization that Nina was a little overwhelmed shows that. The contrast between Mark's family and the Kinney-Taylor household reminded me that happy homes don't always just happen. A lot of it has to do with attitude and commitment. Loved seeing one of my very favorite characters again--Kevin!--and Brian's tender moment with him. Gus was pretty adorable, too, what with his excitement and enthusiasm for the new train room. I'm sure everyone thought Michael looked pathetic trailing around after Brian. How does Ben stand it? Had to chuckle to hear that Jennifer is at the top of Joan's hate list. Interesting to hear, too, that Claire has a talent for embroidery. Of course, no surprise that her parents were so dismissive of that talent. I am looking forward to the next installment. Thanks for this one!

Author's Response:

Sorry to make you wait so long for this chapter.  Glad that you enjoyed it.  I thnk Ted, Blake, Nina & Viola make a nice little family group.  Teddy Man takes his job of looking after Nina VERY seriously.  There are lots of screwed up families out there, many of them thinking they are doing OK.  I think Mark's parents think their family is fine, at least there are no homosexuals.  We can always count on Mikey!!   I love Kevin also and am so pleased that so many readers enjoy Gus & Kevin interacting.  Jennifer worked pretty hard to get to the top of Joan's list and I believe she is proud to be there,  Thanks for taking time to review!!!!!!!  Bill

This is the perfect end of the holiday season...an update to Holiday Happenings.  I hope the season brought you much joy and love. I also hope that the coming year does the same. All the best to you in 2017!!

The party kind of reminded me of those that I grew up with. Sounds a bit ponpous I know, but between my parents and my Godmother, (we alternated every year) it was all pretty similar, except without the driver service. Now that would've been a brilliant idea back then. :)

Showing the true Christmas spirit here with the idea for Claire to embroider and make some $$. Would be nice if this is the initial olive branch and that in time, some of the major woulds could begin to heal. Not sure they ever will completely, but even a bit would be nice. I hope she's sincere in her motives and understands the need for time. That was a really touching part. Even Brian was slightly open.

Despite the incredible generosity of everyone and the abundant haul everyone brought in, it's obvious that none of the kids come across as spoiled. They are all incredibly grateful and appreciative. While they were thrilled with all their gifts, it seemed they were just as thrilled, if not more so by the sense of family and togetherness that was abundant throughout.

Lovely catch up with Ted, Blake et al. Nina's reaction to Christmas was so sweet and genuine. I could imagine that it would be quite overwhelming. So happy that she and viola have this opportunity now.

Michael is still an ass. I mean really...suck it up buttercup. Glad nobody succumbed to his little tantrums. And why wouldn't he take the available transit? Was he hoping for an overnight invite or something? Just silly. He's just a petulant little boy really. shame that he seems to feel there's a need to compete for JR's or even Brian's affections. Following him around like a little puppy. Like I said, he's just a silly boy.

What a wonderful chapter and so well worth the wait!! I felt heart warmed and smiled reading it all.

thank you for this! I have to admit, I've been waiting for the notice I received of the update, but I figured that it would be after the holidays. It's a lovely gift from you to all of us. A thrill to receive.

Cheers and once again, all the best to you in the New Year. I hope 2017 brings you all that you hope for.

Author's Response:

I had to double check with my new Echo to make sure of the day of the week.  It really is Wednesday!  Hope you had a wonderful 2017!!  My parents also had some large parties over the years but none invovled caterers.  My mother and her sisters usually made the food.  Hopefully Claire will take Jennifer's offer to help her make some money and do something worthwhile.  Claire finally seems to be taking some responsibility for her actions which is more than we can say for good old Joanie.  I envision John & Peter occasionally pinching themselves to be sure their aren't dreaming.  They have had huge positive changes in their life.

I love Ted & Blake and their delight with Nina.  Viola knew what she was doing to pick them to take care of her granddaughter.  They take care of her as well.  Mikey is very dependable, he is always an idiot.  I'm sure he can't understand why JR and Brian love Justin.  All Mikey sees is a twink who took his best friend and is trying to steal his daughter's affection.

I apologize for the long wait and am thrilled you think it was worth the wait.  I hope we all have a great year, it will be an interesting one with some of the changes in the USA.  Thanks, as always, for your support.  You know I love to read reviews!!!!!!!  Bill

My dog Miki follows me around the way Michael followed Brian but he is a dog. Wow Claire has a skill I never would have guessed. The fact her mother discouraged it not surprised at all. Sounds like everyone made out well for Xmas. Why does JR's love for Justin amuse me and oh boy will she be jealous of those babies, I don't see Gus having an issue he knows he is loved. Molly's boyfriends family is weird and why do I have this odd concern niggling me about the boyfriends brother. I missed this enough I reread the first part. I can't wait for the next part with the babies. I also hope we don't have to wait a month for another chapter. I can't wait for the Disney trip.

Author's Response:

Must have something to do with the name.  Claire has made a bunch of bad decisions in life but her parents set her up for failure.  Sadly she never overcame her grim start in life.  Was a good Chrstmas for lots of folks.  I think you may be correct about JR and the new babies, she s unhappy enough competeing with Gus for Brian & Justin's attention.  Molly boyfrend's family is very wierd.  I have more concerns about Mark than his brother.  I plan on more regular updates, a New Year's resolution.  Thanks for your support and best wishes for 2017!!  Bill

i love this fanfic, but its starting to get a bit  annoying with Justin and Brian spending so much money on other people.  Maybe its because I've witnessed it in my own life, but ive always found that when people are too generous it fucks with their relationships with others.  Maybe im just nit picking, but I still love this

Author's Response:

They have been spending a lot of money but my excuse is that it is Christmas and a time to be extravagant.  Most of what they spent was on the kids.  I appreciate the feedback and I think you are correct in too much genorosity can damage relationships.  I will keep that in mind but it is fun to think about having enough money to pretty much do whatever you want.  Thanks for taking time to review and I will keep your comments in mind!!!!  Bill

I hope their holiday party with the family coming to Britin goes well surely mikey can keep his mouth shut for a few hours.

Author's Response:

A double review!!!  Thanks Sally!!  Brian is going to be very cautious about Craig and do his best to make sure Justin is not hurt.  Justin has good memories of Craig but all Brian's interactions with Craig were bad.  I think if Craig hurts Justin Brian and Jennifer may band together to kill or hurt him badly.  I wouldn't count on Mikey being either silent or sensible!!  Thanks Darling Sally for all your support.  I am thankful for you!!!!  your sweet Baboo

My Sweet Baboo, It's turkey time in two days. For once when I say turkey I don't mean mikey! Hope you and yours have a beautiful Thanksgiving. I was surprised Joan would tell someone in her church about Brian being gay. No one in these days really care, the  people have so many problems. We just went thru an awful election. police being killed for no good reaso, it seems everyone is looking for someone or something to hate That is so sad. Joan is trying to understand how people take gay lifestyle for granted. I'm glad John and Peter enjoyed their Christmas. I knew Brian and Justin made sure the entire family had a nice Christmas--as usual mikey feels sighted, he's never happy for anyone he was jealous JR caused she's going to Disney World--of course he had to act like a two year old. Great update to wonderful story, Love, your Sally

Author's Response:

Hello my Darling Sally, always happy to hear from you.  We certainly don't want a day when we celebrate MIkey!!!  I imiagin most people in the nrighborhood know that Brian is gay.  There were also news reporst about the attempted kidnapping of Justin so Joan might not talk about it but lots of other folks do!  This has been a tough year with some much division and violence.  I agree that some people just want to hate and to be offended by other people.  I knew a wman who had a gay daughter that she completely cut out of her life because she was gay so sadly there are people like Joan out there.  Hopefully there are less than there used to be!  Mikey never thinks he needs to work for anything, he wants things given to him.  John & Peter never had a Christmas like this one before.  Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.  I have no blood releatives here so I will be with my adopted family.  Made my homemade applesauce and some candied sweet potatoes as my part of the feast!  your sweet Baboo

That was an interesting way to start a chapter.  Thelma

summarized Brian and Justin’s kindness very well.  Too bad, Joan

doesn’t see that.  She can’t see past B&J’s lifestyle to see what

wonderful people they are.

I was happy to see Justin hug Tucker and say nice things to him.

Tucker has been a real good guy, and a nice addition to the

family.  Looks like Justin finally realizes that.  I was happy to read

about it.

I simply don’t know where Craig fits in.  To me he doesn’t and I

would rather he just go away.  I understand that Justin

remembers some of the good in Craig.  But Brian (and me) don’t.

I would have liked to see something about Claire.

In this Chapter, I am glad JR was not there.  This is Gus’s family.

And oh yes, the train set will give Brian and Gus much wonderful

Daddy and Sonny Boy time.

That was a terrific chapter.  Lots and lots of good holiday spirit.

DavidR

Author's Response:

Joan is determined to never accept Brian's lifestyle.  It doesn't matter what anyone says to her.  When she is alone there is no one to disappoint her.  I think Justin knows that Tucker is good for his mother but he has a hard time accepting it.  You are correct about Brian he wants nothing to do with Craig and is concerned about Craig hurting Justin again.  We'll have to wait and see who is correct, you & Brian or Justin.  I actually meant to have something about Claire in the last chapter and forgot - bad author!  We'll hear about her in the next chapter.  I think you are right about the trains!!!  Thanks for the review, you know I always look forward to your comments.!!!  Bill

Haooy Monday my friend! Sorry to hear your friend has been unwell. Hopefully she's well on her way to recovery now.

As for joan...she really is her own worst enemy. I doubt she'll evr gt her head on straight about Brian and his family no matter who says what to her. She's too set in her ways. Shame really, but she brought it all upon herself.

What a beautiful Christmas at Britin! the gifts we lovely for all of them, but the atmosphere, the togetherness was magical! Peter and John most assuredly had their best Christmas ever. I know they've never experienced anything like that before.

Criag's gifts were a surprise. Is he making legitimate overtures towards our boys? I'm so distrusting of him that I'm always looking for any kind of deviousness, but I'm not seeing anything accept a real attempt. Perhaps there's hope yet. Thankfully he's not as stuck in his ways as Joan.

Had to chuckle over Jenny and her attitude. Justin's interaction with her and his little jab at Mel was well placed. quite funny really.

Gus's heart is amazing for such a little boy. So giving and such generosity. Thinking of Joe like he did. Making sure that B&J could take back some of his gifts the way he did. He could definitely teach a few lessons to some of the adults around them.

will be interested to see how the next days dinner goes with all the family at Britin.

A really really lovely and heartwarming chapter.

Cheers,

Elaine

Hello my Monday friend, thanks for the good thoughts, my sick friend is doing much better.  I believe Joan prefers to be alone, no one else measures up to her standards.  Brian is going to be very hard to convince that Craig is sincere.  Justin was correct when he said he has god memories of Craig and Brian has nothing but bad memeories of Craig.  Justin is pretty open about his diapproval of Mel's parenting.  Happy to know you enjoyed this chapter.  I always look forward to reading your comments, thanks for never disappointing me!!!!  Cheers back to you.  Bill

Sorry to hear about your friend and I hope things get better soon. Loved this chapter and enjoyed reading all about everyone's gifts, the holiday meals, etc. Given recent events, this is a nice place to retreat. Will Brian give in on Craig for Justin's sake? Maybe forgive, but not forget? When someone is as monumentally wrong as Craig was, it takes a really generous soul to give another chance. Some people refuse to change. Joan is a good illustration. She needs to read that part of the Bible that says "Judge not..." Her homophobia and refusal to see beyond it is what prevents her from becoming part of the family. Then again, maybe she likes being alone. Perhaps, JR will find out that her sass will come back to haunt her. Perhaps she will be left out of certain fun events. What a mouth. Maybe she will learn that no one wants to be around that. Isn't behavior like that learned because it is rewarded? I would make certain that it is not rewarded. I'll be interested to hear about Joe's Christmas and what else is going on with him. Thanks so much for continuing this story. It is great.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the kind thoughts.  My friend is on the way to recovery but it will take a while.  It is nice to escaoe from RL for a while.  I hope the story trumped any upsetting news you moght have been reading about.  A lot of suspence about the future.  I think Brian is going to be very cautious about Craig.  He will never forget but if it makes Justin happy to have Craig back in his life Brian will support him.  Joan is unchanging but hopefully the history of unhappiness will end with her.  Brian has found his happiness and not the nephews are having the life they deserve.  Poor JR she will have a hard time if she doesn't get some understanding and good parenting.  The nly thing for sure is that Uncle Bri & Uncle Jus will NOT put up with any nonesense from her.  I think JR was lucky Mel came into the room.  She may have gotten quite a talking to from Uncle Jus  and if Uncle Bri heard her disrepecting his Sunshine she would be really sorry!  We will hear more about Joe and his life.  I am so glad to know you are enjoying my saga.  I love to hear from the readers so thank you very much for the review!!  The readers and thier comments are what keep me writing the story!!!  Bill

Ugh, Joan is her own worst enemy. I'm so glad Brian and Justin have plenty of loving family members to offset that narrow-minded woman.

Love how both Justin and Brian surprised each other with their gifts. Those two men may have to find a time when they can 'christen' Justin's new SUV, lol.

I'm with Brian about trusting Craig; it's difficult to believe he's sincere.

So fun the way Brian and Gus play with the train set. One is never too old for that kind of fun. 😊

Bill, I hope your friend is doing much better. Friends and family always come first! No question that I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter - but only when RL permits.

Karynn

Author's Response:

I think Joan feels that she is her own best friend.  No one else is up to her standards.  B&J know how to please each other and I agree that SUV will need to be "christened".  I think Brian is going to be watching to be sure Craig has no opportunity to hurt Justin again.  Between Brian & Jennifer Craig should be very afraid if he is trying to scam them.  My friend is doing much better but still has a way to go before she is able to come home.  Thanks for the good thoughts!!!  Bill

It's such a pleasure to watch Gus grow up in this story. d84;a039; Brian and Justin working together to ensure Gus has a happy childhood makes it especially poignant.

I forgot mention in my review of the last chapter how heartwarming it is that Gus wants to help Joe. The latest lost boy will have to concede to Debbie soon. There's no escaping, Joe, so just be thankful. 😊

ROTFL over Gus taking after Justin with being a chatterbox. Brian had really better watch out if Gus starts spouting PSAs. 😉

Ugh, Melanie and Lindsay's parenting skills are definitely lacking. I hope Mel actually thinks about what Justin told her.

Watch out Disney World! LOL

Thanks for yet another delightful chapter.

Karynn

Author's Response:

Gus is a happy little guy and enjoys the male bonding at B&J's house.  I agree Joe has no chance against Debbie.  She will know his sotry soon.  If the new babies take after their father Brian may have to buy earplugs.  I think Mel has a little trouble not letting her resentment of Brian effect her feelings for Gus.  Justin will be watching what happens there for sure.  Thanks for the multiple reviews!!!!  Love to read them!!  Bill

What a tremendous feel-good chapter! <3

I love how Debbie, Justin, and Brian work together to rescue another 'lost boy'. Joe may be starting to realize that the diner is a safe place and that his options aren't as limited as he thought.

LMAO! over Justin calling Brian cute and Brian's reaction. At least he didn't queen out - kept his best interests in mind. LOL And Brian and John's lack of enthusiasm over watching the Nutcracker every ear - hilarious. :D

I'm hoping to catch up on your story today. RL has been pretty rotten, but stories like this help me cope. :)

Looks like you are doing some catch up on your reading.  Joe is lucky to have fallen in with so many big hearted people.  Gus was the catalyst that got the ball rolling.  Joe is fortunate that some of those big hearted people also have big wallets!  Brian Kinney really doesn't want anyone to think of him as CUTE.  He will setrle for nothing less than HOT.  I understand rough RL, hope you can escape for a while!!!  Thanks for the review!!!!  Bill

I just found this story again and read everything over again.  It took three days, lol.  I'm glad you are still updating it, at whatever pace you want.  I can't wait to meet the babies and learn if they will be little blonde and blue eyed angels.

Are you actually going to write Brian in Disney World?  I don't think I have EVER read that before!  No matter how 'domesticated' he has become, a pack of over excited kids in an over packed theme park is bound to test his ability to keep his calm and pg 13 vocab under control.  LOL. A LOT of time outs and quite one on one time will be needed with only his Sunshine to keep him balanced.

I've never explored the park from a rich person's perspective and unlimited access to all amenities.  I wonder if you can have provate guides to take the kids around the park?

Anyway, I'm just glad you are still writing and look forward to where your muse takes us.  :)

Author's Response:

I am always amazed and flattered when a reader tells me they have re-read the entire saga.  I am so fortunate to have such loyal readers & reviewers, that is what keeps the story going.  Several people have asked for a Brian in Disney Story.  That was not my plan but I think it might be fun to have a quick story about that trip.  Brian will be torn between wanting to avoid everything Disney and wanting to see Gus experience the Magic Kingdom for the first time.  Thank you for your very kind comments and fort aking time to post a review.  I do love hearing from the readers!!!!!!  Bill

Hi, Bill! First of all, I hope your friend is doing better now.  That is the most important priority by far, and I for one will wait patiently until which time you are able to update. :)

Now for this chapter. Some observations.  I almost pity Joan; no, I guess I do, although she has brought a lot of what she has wrought upon herself.  She will die, I believe, a lonely and bitter woman. The holidays should hopefully be a time of forgiveness and understanding, which are two words that will probably never escape her lips.  Thank God Brian has emerged from his childhood a scarred man, but one who has triumphed and overcome his parents' treatment of him.  He has become a loving partner and father, and someone to admire.

A little surprised by Craig's gesture, but hopefully it is sincere, and perhaps one day even he will change, unlike Joan.  BTW, I always wrack my brain to think of whether or not Justin called his father "Craig" later in the show, but I can't for the life of me remember. Did he?

JR is becoming more and more not only like her mother, but her father as well, sadly.  I hope she can learn from Gus as a role model, and change her ways, or I fear what she will be as a teenager!  Maybe one day you will write about them as older kids. (hint, hint).

As always, I love the detail in your chapters.  From the preparations for Christmas dinner, to the surprise gift for Justin, to the love clearly shown between the family members.

Thanks again for a wonderful chapter! Always enjoy reading your updates.  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Hi Kim, my friend is in rehab and is doing better.  Thanks for asking.  I think Joan would be unhappy to think anyone pities her.  No one meets her standards of behavior so she is happy to have no one around.  Brian has been able to overcome a lot from his early life.  His life is different from anything he expected but I believe he is blissfully happy.

I think Craig realizes all he has lost because of his homophobia.  He really lost his entire family because of his attitude.  Now they are all happy together and he is alone.  Justin may be ready to give him another chance but Brian will be much more suspicious of Craig's motives.  I can't remember for sure but I think Justin called him Craig in the show.  I thought about watching some chapter "On Demand" but actually I don't remember Justin talking about his father much at all, after he left home.  Even Jennifer played a pretty minor role in the show.  She has a much bigger role in my story.

JR has an unfortunate gene pool to draw from.  I like to think Gus is like Brian would have been if he had loving parents.  I think JR is kind of lucky Mama showed up.  I think Uncle Jus was getting ready to really let JR have it for her behavior.  Instead he let Mel know that he still wasn't a fan of her parenting.

Thanks for the nice comments.  I learned a lot from reading so many stories from my favorite author.  I think you can guess who that is.  Always enjoy reading reviews so thanks for being so loyal about poting them!!!!!!  Bill
